Giddy-up jingle horse, pick up your feet!

Hola & good morning from Capricci Latino on 5th Ave. I’m here having breakfast & wifi. Ok this gif is from Starbucks but their internet crapped out so I had to move on. Before I sit down for a meal when travelling, coffee or snack I ask if they have wifi. Pretty much everywhere does. I’m addicted to documenting, sharing and being connected so when I have the chance, I sieze it. There’s plenty of time to disconnect and soak up the sunshine. Check out what I did yesterday for an HOUR…PURE BLUSS!! Heading to the beach now to soak up some rays before I check into my new home at hotel Reina Roja at 2pm. Downloaded a cool app yesterday called Zite, it’s a personal magazine, kinda like Flipboard which also just came out for iPhone. I’m running on reserve battery power now so, I leave you with my most fav Christmas song, Jingle Bell Rock! 🙂 I’m back home Monday night and am looking forward to holiday spirit. Social what? There’s a new buzz word created every :02 seconds but ‘socialight’ is one I wasn’t really familia with. Socialite, yes. I’ve been a social person my whole life and I also like working hard and doing nice things for others. When I was introduced to the SociaLIGHT conference, I smiled knowing there’s gonna be lots of like minded people in a room together. I’m speaking on a panel this weekend at MTCC for the Socialight Conference. It’s a one day event for entrepreneurs & small business people from across Canada. Never heard of it? No problem! This vid will give you the low down in < :60 seconds. Did you know that “Last November, more than 100 countries celebrated Global Entrepreneurship Week and now 2011 has been recognized as the Year of the Entrepreneur in Canada.” Learned that and some other smart facts from the Canadian Guv’s Biz dept. I’ve had an entrepreneurial fire burnin’ for years. In 1996 I won Young Entrepreneur of Cambridge for a publishing company I co-founded. Anyone from Twitter YOU would like to meet?

Blogged before bed last night because I had to get up early and go to the office. Ok, I didn’t HAVE to go to an office but I decided to get my booty to Edelman’s Toronto office to meet David Armano their Global EVP from Chicago. I’ve been following @armano on Twitter for YEARS. Sometimes I get people saying they’ve followed me for ages and they’re excited when WE meet, this is one of those people for ME. the power of a post: social media with love I wrote a blog post about him on January 6, 2009 when I WITNESSED him raise money to help a friend who had fallen into an unfortunate situation. It was heart touching to watch as the donation meter on his blog post “Please help Daniella’s Family” went up and up. As I followed along, they raised $12K in 24HR! a slice of paradise in your own backyard

Had a lovely afternoon in the sun today. Picked up a new paid of Doc’s at the Dr. Martens Store (I’m the Mayor!). I gad a gift certificate from the team to get a any pair I saw at the Fall preview back in July. I got black polished laredo Serena’s, last size 6 they had. Lucky me! Stopped by Quicksilver and got a pair of board shorts & a matching top for my surf trip to Costa Rica next week. So excited to surf. Visited the lovely ladies at Get Outside for a new pair of plain black Havaianas (trashed my old ones at the end of summer). Got may nails done on my way home. I love the hand massage you get. I wonder if I could just go in for hand massage? Is that weird? I’d say it was because I spend all day on the computer. Read my book in the balcony sun for a bit and am about to clean my room. Lauren is coming by before the My City Lives “That Night in Toronto” party and I’d like if my room didn’t look like hoarders. Hope you’re having an awesome day. Get some sun on your face! The #CCSpeakeasy

I would say good morning but as I write this it’s already the late afternoon. What can I say? I’m still recovering from last night’s awesomeness. The Canadian Club Speakeasy was an old timey shindig if there ever was! Who doesn’t love dressing up all flapper-esque and pretending to be in Boardwalk Empire?! Here’s some photos I snapped of everyone dolled-up and a ditty for you to listen along to! This car was outside and begging to be posed with. The bartenders were all dapper and pulled out some tricks as they mixed the Canadian Club cocktails. They were all Boardwalk Empire themed too. The hit of the night seemed to be the Nucky! Casie and I couldn’t help but have a mini photo shoot. The location was just so cool looking! This 1920s girl is always working! How handsome! It’s no surprise that Jason won best dressed! Although he did have some stiff competition… This Barbie is so classy! Sam and Ross all suited up! Can the men of the world just agree to dress like this all the time please? find what you love

Kate sent this to me this morning and said it reminded her of us. We both love Gubler too. I had a lunch interview with a lovely journo today who writes for a major Canadian magazine about personal brands, social media & my job. It’s interesting that the idea of a ‘personal branding’ has become so popular, a term that wasn’t used nearly as much five years ago. I always get asked in interviews “where do you see yourself in five years?”, a question I can’t really answer. I like to say ‘happy and with money in the bank”. I dreamed about doing what I do now, I thought about how great it would feel to work from home and travel and make my own hours, be in ads, host sponsored events and get lots of stuff in the mail. I dreamed about it and I really believe thoughts become things and when you set your mind to something, you can achieve it. I didn’t blog much this weekend or take many photos. Yesterday I had a nice brekky with Barbie & Sammy at the Fox on Fort York. Sam & I walked around in the sunshine for the afternoon & checked out ‘no car Kensington’ as he likes to call it. There was heaps to see and photograph but I didn’t feel like being a ‘blogger’. I soaked up the experience and sunshine and it was lovely. Went to see Sheldon’s drag show at Woody’s in the Village last night. Hung out with a whole bunch of hot Aussie boys, it was great. Tonight heading to Underground Cinema for Rocky Horror then Baby Huey’s (Elliott is DJing). Hope you’re having an awesome day. Coming up next, costume wrap-up!

i’m thankful today and every day thereafter

Happy Tuesday and welcome to a short week. Really good last couple days. Thanksgiving yesterday was the best. I’d say the trail hike by the river was my fav part (besides the food!). Mum & Steve put on the hugest dinner and it was so nice to have a massive group of family & friends together. This year’s TedX theme was Redefinition “A changing definition can be the most powerful force on Earth. A re-definition can change the world.”. Great job by the entire team. I left Friday feeling inspired, that we are the future and we are changing the world around us. Took some street style to see what the smart kids were wearing Friday at TedXToronto. Lots of babes in the house. When I say house I mean Royal Conservatory of Music, Telus Centre. Awesome work by the organizing team (below). See the guy on the far right? Co-Chair Ryan Merkley and I served as founding members of the Youth Advisory Committee Council in Cambridge 10+ years ago. I was Director of Public Relations, he was Chair. We governed youth issues that affected Cambridge youth with the City Council. That was my first real experience with PR! Dr. Draw was amazing on the violin. Dancers were great too. Space, Google, Something Strange in the Neighbs

Tonight O’Nizzle and I are hosting a show with some astronomers for SPACE. Pretty stoked. Not too sure what we’re gonna be doing but I’m into it. Plus, we have to go to Hamilton! Mega adventure! Last night I went to a party hosted by GOOGLE and The Rapture played. It was pretty rad. Lots of nerdy babes. Heaps of business people. Was totally surprised none of the ‘social media’ peeps were there. Met some rad peeps. Tomorrow is TEDxToronto and I’m attending in person as a delegate. Really looking forward to being inspired and seeing/meeting other delegates. The solution already exists.

Full on day yesterday. I love being busy but sometimes I wonder what it’s like to work 9-5pm and leave your work at home. I used to do that a few years ago but how easy you forget. Got a one year membership to Bixi from my friends at Telus yesterday. Stephen and I met with branding team about our show that launches in less than a month. We’ve got some neat stuff planned with some pretty cool people. The show is called Ay Caramba Career Show and it will air Thursday night’s at 6pm EST starting September 8th. Psychology of Narcissism & how it effects brands.

I’m determined to get to SXSW 2012. (Sounds like doomsday when you say 2012 after anything. Damn you Hollywood!) As I was saying, I am determined to be there. Speaking would be even cooler and that might happen. Lucia included me in her panel discussion called “Psychology of Narcissism & how it effects brands”. Something I can talk lots about (haha).
