tiff day 3: movie premiere + tiredness = night in

I managed to make it to a movie premiere last night but wasn’t up for the party scene. I have a busy day Sunday so trying not to burn myself out. Movie I saw was Client 9: The Rise & Fall of Eliot Spitzer. I was given tickets by Cadillac Festival Insider. Might actually be the only movie I get to. Hah, I know it’s Film Fest but for me it is more like party fest. The movie was well done, a doc about Eliot and his sex scandal. Liked it. Interesting, crazy how much escorts make and what people pay for sex. I don’t even want to get started talking about it. Blows my mind. I have no idea what I am going to wear out today. I got a HUGE box of tights from Secret & Jockey yesterday. Like huge. There are about 20 pairs all different colours and styles. Totes one of the very bestest things I could get considering I NEVER wear pants. If you catch me in jeans it is a RARE ocassion. I would say it happens about 10-20 times a year. Seriously. Today’s agenda isto attend an afternoon Tea Party at The Red Tea Box for an Australian movie called Jucy. After that I’m going to a house party hosted by Vitamin Water for “Into the Wind”, the Terry Fox documentary directed by Steve Nash. Should be pretty packed with cool people. TIFF day two: apparently somebody is famous

Oh man. Was in bed all day today. I need to rest. I am almost Tiff’d out. Premiere tonight thanks the lovely Cadillac Insider. Going to see CLIENT 9 The rise and fall of Eliot Spitzer. Have to go get my tickets but I don’t want to go outside yet. It sounds windy. Not as sunny today. Yesterday was an awesome day, an awesomely looooong day. Yorkville all day Tastmakers Gifting Lounge for nails done, makeup and more. Thanks for the presents guys! That neighbourhood is growing on me, could also be that it is Film Fest so buzzing. Joe Fresh makeup is really nice. My lipstick didn’t leave marks when kissing cheeks of all the zillion people I saw throughout the day. Diesel Lounge for lunch on the patio and a mini photo shoot with hot NY photog Raphael Mazzucco. He is apparently a pretty big deal, shooting covers of Time, Sports Illustrated and Victoria’s Secret. Can’t wait to get those photos. He was also very good looking; tall, long hair, charming. Went to Vitamin Water Backyard Social. Was fun. Did this interview with O’Nizz and had my phototaken heaps. I could really get used to this kinda stuff. Met a few peeps that made a point to come say hi and were really happy to meet me for the first time. HI GUYS! Vitamin Water party had a great bar, top shelf selection. Food was good too. Everyone was on Twitter which was fun. Hardly took any pics of my own. Isn’t this a scary thought…four of ME! I was at the penthouse of the SOHO Met yesterday afternoon. Madonna stays there. It’s the sweetest pad I’ve seen in the city ever. Three floors w/ elevator, bar, library and private roof balcony lounge. Yes please. I’m not a fighter. If you know me or almost know me you know that I’m not voilent, I like kindness. I really loved the spirituality and things I learned. I’m not religious, I believe in the power of positivity, the universe, energy and I like the magic when the sun shines through the clouds. Was up early. Can’t sleep in anymore. It’s like I’ll be miss something. I like to be busy, work hard. It’s a crazy cycle of inspiration, the more you do the more you can do. The guy beside me needs to STFU & stop talking so damn loud, honestly. Itunes – Days like This Spinna Club Remix. I escape. This is the song, listen to it and keep going. Today has been fun so far. Made it to my meeting today, late. Cabbie dropped me at 333 when I needed to be at 33. RAN. Yes ran in my coyboy boots and little black dress holding folder + purse with laptop two blocks from Jarvis to Yonge Street. ON THE HOTTEST SWEATY ASS DAY. I was so hot when I got there. Thank god I sat with Miranda at first so I could wipe my forehead with kleenex like a sweaty warthog. Imagine Pumba and Timba mixed together. Yeah. That went well. After I cooled down during meeting I went and had a dress contest. 1, 2 or 3? DRESS 1 DRESS 2 DRESS 3 They were all pretty cute. I like dresses. Short ones. They are my most fav thing to wear ever. Boots, short dress, smile, silverish jewels. I picked dress 3. It is shorter in the front than back, rayon and elegant feeling. It sways in the wind and I feel like someone is about to take my photo. On my feet are vintage Capezio cowboy boots. I need to plan a fall swap clothing swap and invite you ladies over. Someone remind me! So I changed. Attended Lexus Live in the Distillery last night with my lovely date Jessica Gardener. Big thanks to Notable TV and Rock-It Promotions for a great event. I was full on in a nana sweater. I thought it woud be colder. Ended up having to remove tights later in the night, I was clearly over dressed for the weather. This is the new car from Lexus, the CT 200h. Pretty nice, roomy, has mouse in it to control the dashboard screen thingy. I’m not in the market for a new car anytime soon (never owned a car) but this I would drive. It looks kinda Audi-ish. You can easily fit two in the trunk. Lexus hired a heap of photographers, it felt like everywhere I turned they were snappin. I wonder if they knew who I was because it felt like they took 800 photos of me. I can only imagine how many people take when you’re crazy famous. I didn’t really mind. I’d really wouldn’t mind if Lexus put me in a commercial or something. hint hint. The Stills were pretty good. I’d never heard them before. The drummer was a total babe and the bass player smoked during the show and then put his cig out on stage. THAT, is badass. There were two ‘just married’ couples in the area and one of them popped into the VIP for some front row access. Their photog took some great shots and April and I totally photo bombed a heap of them. I hope you like your wedding photos guys! Mark your calendars cause on Thursday, August 26th it’s genYTO at The London Taphouse. They have graciously set aside a HUGE area for us on the roof patio starting at 8pm till late. Snapped this pic on that same roof last summer, sun setting is pure beauty. If you have never been to a genYTO night before, be prepared for awesomeness. It’s a group that was founded in January 2009 by Erin Bury, Dave Coleman, Renee Warren, Daniel Patricio and myself to combat the negative portrayals of generation Y in the media. Articles were floating around saying we’re self-absorbed, confused, spoiled, lazy, and entitled. Truth is – we are inspired and motivated to drive change in our world. Erin said it well on her blog: “We think we’re actually some of the most driven, hard-working and inspired people out there, so we decided to host a monthly event in Toronto to bring the GenY community out, share ideas, and of course share a couple beverages. there’s no room for debby downer here ok, sunshine

I played in the sprinklers at the park and IT WAS AWESOME. I will never be too old (too boring) to play in leaves, snow, sprinklers or dance in the rain. I LIVE for those moments. Like seriously, does this not look like fun? Ok, how about this? I didn’t plan to get soaked in the hot hot sun but it felt awesome. Totally gonna hit that spot up as much as I can this month. Hung out with some babes too, Sabrina & Sadie. Hot bitches. Love when Sabrina plays ‘dog sitter’. We get to have a dog and then give it back hassle free. It’s the best. Kinda like babysitting a child, although, I’m so glad Sabrina does the babysitting. I’m not really into kids that much right now TBH. I love this dog. She’s the cutest pup ever. Well behaved, doesn’t bark, plays nice. I’m not huge on animals, I don’t like when they shed, touch your stuff, slobber and need attention all the time. Of them all, Boxers are deff my favourite. I guess the better thing to say is I’m not much of a ‘pet’ person. I like when pets have good manners, I like people with good manners too. Sadie stood right on me as I was laying in the water. It is safe to say that I am currently having the time of my life. After spending the day with Carly at the Agency I flew to The Pilot to meet Miranda & David. We had a blast. The rain came in wee spirts and I managed to keep dry yet very hydrated. I also touched iphone 4 for the first time. Feels so delicate. The boy behind me is Jean Luc from Kijiji. The Pilot is an interesting place. Everytime I go there I meet the most interesting peeps. I was hanging out with Ebay, PayPal and one of the SAW writers Leigh Wannell . Today I have an audition for a commercial as a ‘Kiwi girl’ and a patio meeting about 4ish. Later on I’m attending a screening with of Dinner for Schmucks with Michael before Loser Karaoke. Sunday I’m on the very first episode of the Social Media Show (SMS) podcast with Karam Kanji the Community Manager for TechVibes. I will keep you updated, show is at 3pm. Have an AWESOME day. GRAPHIC: the smirnoff experience

Monday night I had the pleasure of attendng one of TO’s most exclusive events ar ARD Events (my fav venue). It was the who’s who of social, media & fashion. Everyone was there and looking super stylish. I took the handsome Michael Nus as my date. I wore a vintage Albert Nipon that was a hit. I’ve not got so many complimentsa on one dress from so many social sites/people in a while. Good score I tell ya! This is my fav photo. Thanks to Erin Bury for snappin the pix, I forgot to bring Nancie (my camera). No one knew what to expect, the invitation was very mysterious (and creative) and the whole night was comic book themed. I loved seeing so many fmiliar faces in one place. Oh, Deadmau5 was there too so the music was epic. I’ve got more photos to upload but have to scoot to the office. First say back since Thursday. this post is regarding the influence project: the search for the most influential person online i feel like, if i participate in ‘everything’ that shows my ‘influence’ it devalues when i post good content. everything is becoming about your so called ‘influence’ and i hate pushing links on people all the time. what do i get if i put my name in this? my picture in a magazine. meh, been there done that a few times. so, it doesn’t really seem worth it? who really gains? they do. where are the perks for making people click on something that does nothing for them. i like to give people value, that’s where my influence comes from. i hope someone cool gets this thingy but it surely won’t be me. as for the Virgin thing, that will provide heaps of value back to everyone who votes for me. i will be an ambassador, organize parties and create fun memories for people all over the place. all this talk about influence, makes me think it’s more about VALUE. y’know what i’m sayin? another thing, the site is all built in flash and really slow too. i’m more than happy to not try for this one. i’m sure we will all be seeing more and more of this user generated ‘meme’ stuff floating around (ex. donttellashton.com). i only wanna take part in things that give back, things that have value for everyone not just for myself. it’s pretty much the same reason I don’t put ads on my site, i don’t want you to think i’m banking off you visiting, i like to think i make you smile, and maybe i even inspire you. i do the internet stuff because i love it. it started out as a way to keep more memories and…

You will never find a more open, positive crowd of free spirits having a gay old time anywhere. Jenie & I had a B-L-A-S-T. Once I went to Pride in Sydney, they have the parade at night and it’s totally wicked. I hope to experience NY & SF one day too. Watch this & wait for the guy at the end, he was serious show stopper. I’m not sure what is going on today. It’s like I feel still positive but I’m having of of those ‘everything is pissing’ me off days and that is pissing me off. I really wanna get home to my computer and work on stuff. I’m super busy at work, like so busy that I’m always playing catch up and that dives me mental. I need to breathe to be creative. I’ve got a situation you could say. Had a lovely lunch meeting today about a potential project. It was the perfect thing to break up my day. I wore my red Moovboots today and my feet are really happy. There are police everywhere at home which means there’s likely no chance of getting and w33d delivered in the next week which also makes me angry. It’s days like these when I cruise home and relax while I watch TV. I got the new Wired mag last night which is pretty awesome except I hardly ever read magazines anymore. I wish I had an ipad. Wow, who am I? Negative Nancy? I need to stop this. Once today is over and I leave the office I promise myself to be all smiles. I ‘m walking over to the postie to pick up a package that [fingers crossed] is a new camera. One of my loving friends sent one which is ironic because it’s his birthday and I’m getting something. I really wish I had send him a mail, fuck. Where is my head at? I realise that working everyday in a row without any breaks gives me a short fuse. I’m tired and I have things to get done and emails to retun but I can’t sleep. I need a break but the thing is, I internet all the time and the internet doesn’t take breaks. It doesn’t stop or sleep. I can’t do that. I need to take breaks, I am not a computer. I need to get my rest. I’m not being complainey, I’m being real. And I’m real tired. I’m gonna try to stay home this weekend and relax, it’s only Tuesday. CRIPES! Ah well, tomorrow morning I will wake up reborn and ready for a new day. DO YOU HAVE A GUN MISS?

So yesterday I had a really intersting experience going through customs before leaving YYZ. I was very smily and dressed kinda cute as I approaced the dreaded security check at the airport. It always scares me for some reason, there is just something about all the turnstiles and other crowd control measures that puts me on edge! I do understand how important these security checks are though, and after reading this website about security turnstile here I probably know much more about airport security and turnstiles than the average person! Hence, I was extremely pleasant as I emptied all my gear intot the tray, laptop, shoes, small bottled liquids. I was pretty excited to step into the body scanner. It was my first time flying since this had been implemented a few months ago after the underwear bomber. No problems with the body scan but as I turned around it seemed a couple security guards were puzzled by something in my suitcase. First thought, they saw my ‘Hitachi massager‘ and they’re gonna give me a hard time, second thought, my corsets with metal boning have them confused. Neither was the case and as one security guard after another, followed by several police officers went for a look, I began to get scared. WTF are they looking at? I tried to be positive about the whole thing and deffinitley not get emotional. Crying would only make this worse, “keep smiling & don’t look scared” I told myself. it’s a beautiful day in the neighbourhood

Cleaned room yesterday. New vintage desk by my window looks out over the lake and into the sunshine across the island. Prefect spot for sewing, drawing, writing, creating. Hot coffee and in a flash off to Ikea. New bed in my future, today is the day. Clean sheets make for a good sleep. Meeting cute boy in the afternoon hope he says yes to a park hang. the ABC’s of anger

This poem was originally published in 2006 here and is written by me. I was playing with my thesaurus at the time, finding words for anger. I was listening to Rilo Kiley and myspacing hard. I spent countless nights teaching myself HTML, formatting websites, writing content. I love being able to go back in time and see what I was up to and what I was writing. I realize things about myself that I forgot. ________________________________ ABC’s of Anger You could say I am annoyed, antagonized & aggravated. You remind me of that bitter taste of coffee in my mouth, With you I am displeased. Almost enraged I am, exacerbated & exasperated, I find myself furious, fierce, & ferociously fuming. Hardly hateful just heated with a hot head I am ill tempered. You make me impassionate, insensitive, I feel inflamed, increasingly infuriated, & irate. Intensely irritated. I am maddened. Your words make me offended & outraged. You provoke me into a raging, resentful sad Satan. Watch for spitefulness coming your way. I am airline turbulence, making passengers uptight. Vicious & vexed like a bad villain. I am wired & worked up with wrath. I have no zest or zeal. This is a zero-sum game. _______________________________ %$%$#FU*C*&%#$K off.

its not always rainbows and butterflies

I wrote this the other day while on a walk… Its rare that I have nothing to say but sometimes, it happens. I go into mute mode. You’d be surprised at my introvertedness when I’m home. After a long day or week of publishing a constant stream of content, I so often just want to hit mute and shut it all off. Its not easy putting yourself out there all the time. I stay in my room or can go days, hardly saying a word at all. Working hard and staying positive are really important to me. So often I hear “I’d like to blog/tweet but I don’t have time” or “where do you find the time”. Urgh, make the time! I work hard and stay positive do it because I love what I’m doing and I want to succeed. Don’t you? I choose to publish moastly rainbows, unicorns and happy stuff, however, it still rains now and then. I’ve started unfollowing people on twitter lately that have a negative tome to their tweets. If I hear ‘whining’ or ‘wah-wah’ when I read it, I’m shutting it off. I don’t wanna catch your downer-fever. I really believe in the power of positive thought. If you act positive and think positive, positive things will happen. So many times the universe has shown me this is true. So, if you’ve been feeling downer lately, throw it out the damn window and start smiling. You’ll feel better as soon as you do 🙂

spinning the sunshine

I was looking at what I posted around this time last year and saw this video, same dress I’m wearing today. Around this time last year was the crazy Tamil protest on the Gardener I found love in a zombie tattoo I finally got a helmet and Porter was in town from the islands I played hopscotch on Queen Street I wrote about our generation and why we’re not lazy Posted on this exact day, May the Forth be With You 2009 I was in cartoon motion, dreaming of being a cartoon. I wore pants and a tuxedo shirt while biking to work. I wrote a really long run on sentence and through about Andy Warhol. I was closer to god (in a NIN animal kinda way) I played with Charlie in Kensington Market, vintage close & second hand books. I got my hair done before my birthday, suprisingly, I get my hair done today too 🙂 I love looking through old posts to remind myself of things and inspire me to keep creating new things. I’ve got a lunch date with the lovely Rayanne today and I’m really looking forward to it. Toot-a-loooooooo!!!!!!

This kinda reminds me of Dad. Posted it on Tumblr earlier today. My dad is so cool, he’s got tattoos and muscles. He used to be jacked when I was young and he also had a huge beard. Been a while since I saw Daddio. DAD IF YOU READ THIS I MISS YOUR FACE OK! I just saw someone tweet about trampoline. Did you know my Dad was a Tramp Coach? Yeah, trampoline. I tweeted a bunch today and also formspringed. Did you know YOU CAN ASK ME ANYTHING? Go, amuse me please. I’ve answered 427 so far, and counting. My sista, Jenie is coming ova tonight too. Hellz yeah. Wonderful day. Well, except the fact that today I’m the stinky kid so I have to keep my arms down and sweater on. Fahk, happens to us all once in a while. I’m off to Peach Berserk to reveal the WINNER in the dress design contest for school kids. They just rung me to say the place is full of girls waiting to know. Young ladies, here I come with hopes to inspire you! Ok. bye. Gotta run, can’t make all these kiddios wait!
