I’d seen Evan Biddel post the famous Playsuit he’s been making and asked if he could make a yellow AND HE DID. I am so obsessed with this one-piece outfit. he made it a little smaller or me and it fits perfectly. You can check out his other versions at the Biddell Shop and see him as a guest on Canada’s Drag Race this season.
After my trip to town and the post office, Sean and I hung out and had a drink on the dock. I picked up a cute bathing suit from Giant Tiger for $10.
Up until now, the bugs have been really bad at night so we haven’t been sitting out. I made a nice fire and we watched the sun set on the lake.
Mum wore this crochet outfit to a wedding when she was a TEENAGER! Nana’s friend knit it for her and she went with my dad. I AM obsessed!!! She always had such cool style, her clothes are our treasured heirlooms. LOVE YOU MUM!
Picked up the orange wool blanket at a thrift shop in Coromandel on my 2018 trip to NZ to visit the fam. ???? The hat is from Lack of Color, Australia and the glasses belonged to someone’s grandma.
After this lockdown, I’m never not wearing a full entire outfit! I have such an appreciation for every single item in my closet!
Different boats = social distancing!??☀️We didn’t actually hang out with anyone on another boat but I guess we could have?! Had a nice day hanging out around the house, it was warm and sunny. We had some work to do in the afternoon for a Tuesday deadline. It’s so nice to have the boat in the water. She’s running well!
A box showed up at our door on Friday w/ this outfit and beer. Lol how did I get so lucky in this life?!?? I love the creativity of this summer collab w/ Hayley Elsaesser x Coors Slice. This print is tiny Corrs Light cans made by Hayley. The collection comes out Monday at 3pm here.
They’ve got summer swimwear, bucket hats, button-ups, and my fav item, a fanny pack cooler. So good! ???
HOPE YOU ARE HAVING A GREAT LONG WEEKEND!
PLS BE SAFE!
These items were sent to me as a gift! I didn't have to blog about them but they're so damn cute I couldn't help myself. Long time fan of Hayley Elsassaer and of course, beer.??
It’s the long weekend! I tried ice dye and it turned out so good. It’s a pretty easy technique using dye powder over ice. Chowie Wowie sent a surprise package with a dye kit this week so I went to town.
The ice dye process uses powder vs liquid and was pretty easy. I used the remaining powder mixed with water to also do traditional tie-dye. I discovered how to make hearts from a tutorial. Wrapping the garment in plastic for a couple hours helps make the colours brighter.
I’ve had this dress in my closet for ages and decided to tie-dye the bottom with bleach. I am so happy with it how it turned out. I might gift this one to a friend bc it’s a little big.
It felt nice to put on a summer dress and putter around the cottage. Did a bit of gardening and spent some time reading outside in the sun. We might put the boat in this afternoon!
Today was a good day. I did some work in the morning. We picked up the boat. Sean is dying to go wakeboarding. We went to Canadian Tire and I got my own, brand new lifejacket. I love it!
At 5 pm I joined Natalie and Christian for Truth, Dare, & Cocktails. It was hilarious. I miss them so much. Glad we all got to spend a week together in New Orleans in December. I also spent some time reading in the sun.
At night, I had a super fun Zoom hang out with some of my old besties from high school/college days. I miss them too. We laughed about the good ol’ days and shared how our lives have changed. I can’t wait to hang out in person once this is all over.
This little project turned out so good! I’d seen this DIY on Pinterest and Instagram (@primandprimp) so I decided to give it a go. If you want to try, it’s easy, here’s a how-to.
You Will Need
Somewhere to bleach with good ventilation ex. outside
A couple hours
1: Tape Your Denim
Pick a side you want to bleach then tape along the middle seam. Make sure to really get in there so the tape goes right to the edge of the stitching, you don’t want bleach to leak onto the darker side. Once done, grab your plastic bag, roll up the leg that’s not being dyed, and secure the bag. Tape to seal.
Get your gloves and workspace ready. If you’re able to go outside, great. I like to use the lid of a storage bin and cover with a garbage bag to avoid making a mess. If you have to do this inside, open a window and turn on a fan.
Start spraying your denim and make sure the whole leg is covered. Don’t forget the inseam and sides. If you don’t have a spray bottle, a sponge will work. Use what you can find!
Set your project somewhere safe where the colour can develop. I had mine outside on the lawn for about 2 hours then moved inside to the shower for about 45 minutes until the colour stopped changing. It might be a bit drippy at the start, so keep away from anything bleach will ruin.
Rince the dyed leg in cold water. You might find he tape is starting to come off because the fabric is wet. This is ok.
Throw your new jeans in the washing machine and then the dryer. This part was the hardest for me because I couldn’t wait to see my experiment!
Put those bad boys on! Old pants turned new pants and you are a Quarantine Queen. If you try this please LMK! I’d love to see what you make.
I think next I’ll try a pattern with tape & sponge, like stars or polka dots on another pair. These jeans had been in a ‘give-away’ pile cause they’re a little big but I’m so glad I was able to upcycle them and make them new again.
All my clothes are going to be customized when this is over.I just ordered an embroidery kit. ?
