I’ve mentioned it here and there around the web but this is my formal post, CONTIKI IS SENDING ME TO THAILAND! I leave on Saturday for 2 weeks away with about a dozen of Canada’s top YouTubers. I’ve never been to Asia and had to get a bunch of shots last week to get me prepped. We have an AMAZING itinerary planned by the great team at Contiki. I am honestly SO EXCITED. I’ve heard it’s a great time of year to go there and considering we might get snow today, I’m ready for some sunshine. I’ve been tracking the weather in Thailand and it’s been over 25 degrees every single day for the last week. I’ve been pinning photos and articles on a new Thailand – Nov. 2013 board. It’s so beautiful there! I’ve known about Contiki as a great travel company from heaps of my cousins and friends down under. As Far as the Eye Can See, Panoramic Vision

Trinity Bellwoods park – the day I got my new bike. The same bike that was recently stolen 🙁 Smart Set photo shoot in New York City. The shoot I flew to NY to be at for 5 hours then home. Setup of the Grey Goose Cherry Noir party way back when. We trended in Canada that night. The view at my old condo that I don’t really miss. It was good while it lasted. The lake from the back of the cottage. We have so much fun up there, a little slice of paradise. Sometimes the sky was so beautiful from this view. I used to watch the planes land, dream of adventure. I don’t remember where this was. Another party, night on the town, when you look back they’re all the same. I’m pretty sure this was at The Spoke Club for an event. They have such great food there, I should be a member. Last week I water damaged my beloved HTC One. I loved that phone SO much. It was the best phone I have had ever. I put it in rice with hopes it would come but to life but I am afraid, it’s not gonna happen. Got a new iPhone 5s and these are all panoramic photos that came back from iCloud. I thought they would make a nice story. The slow motion video and thumb print things are pretty cool to be honest. WMCFW: Tips on Shooting Fashion from @SteveCarty & Canon Canada

I recently met up with the Canadian Canon Ambassadors for a professional photo session with Steve Carty (you’ve seen him here on the blog before!). I’m really getting the hang of using my DSLR! It may sound silly but it took me a while to get shutter speed and aperture. After the last session, I finally hold my camera like a professional and not a n00b. No really though! In this session we learned how to shoot moving subjects on the runway, portraits, and about the built in filters on our cameras. To be honest, I discovered the filters in my Canon Rebel SL1 right away! I’ve been using Canon since I got my first digital camera pre-blog back in 2004 and I’ve always loved the creative filters. [Way to be ahead of Instagram guys!] A Word About Fashion GIFs I really love GIFs as you know. I took all these photos the night of our fashion photography session with Carty and made them into GIFS to see the differences with using the Canon filters. Please note, photo quality was drastically reduced when I put these together. I need a photoshop session before I learn to make high quality GIFs! I think they’re fun. I love when designers and bloggers put out GIFs from runway shows so I wanted to test my skills. Scroll down for some tips from Carty and Canon! 1. WMCFW: Here’s How I Prepped for A Busy Week!

I had a lovely and relaxing weekend. Went to Screemers on Friday night for a good scare and spent Saturday afternoon at Hammam Spa. I’ve gone there a few times lately as a way to treat myself to some relaxation. this time I went a little early to relax in the steam room before my full body mud wrap. My skin felt like silk after! Thank you Hammam Spa for this little gift bag! I had tweeted them the day before about the 20% Stylicity discount (available now!) and they left me some goodies. Oh how I love the Internet! This little pink makeup bag is from Ted Baker London and I keep it in my purse to freshen up my look since I often head to events right after work. Mastercard Stylicity Celebrates the Canadian Tuxedo at The Room

Fashion week events kicked off last night with Mastercard Stylicity at The Bay on Queen Street. The fashion community gathered for an exclusive event seeking to redefine the eye catching denim-on-denim Canadian Tuxedo. Special guests included The Coveteur’s Stephanie Mark and HBC Fashion Director Suzanne Timmins. I rolled up with Brock Mclaughlin and we were up to are usual shenanigans of course. I picked up these glasses from Top Shop. They reminded us of Andy Warhol. These book trees are beautiful. I wish I had room for one at the house. Thanks Mastercard Stylicity and The Bay for the gift card. We all got to pick a card from a magical bowl and although they each had some value, there was only ONE with a huge payout. ‘David Bowie Is’ at AGO. I saw him!

Went on a private tour of ‘David Bowie Is’ at the AGO this morning with some Community colleagues. Later this week they start the Ago 1st Thursday events and our client Drambuie is a sponsor. The exhibit was so freaking cool. It’s matched up with Sennheiser Sound so that as you travel from room to room the audio is updated and talks you through the exhibit or plays a song to go with the art. It was pretty amazing, not gonna lie! It’s the first time I’ve experienced a 3D sound system quite like that. This part was super cook. The pano is a bit fuzzy but you can see me and my trench on both sides in the mirrors. I think this sign might have been my fav part, I love the sign.. Could really have stayed at the AGO all day… Saw my old Andy Warhol favs. I used to go to the AGO all the time! See all old posts tagged AGO here. It pays to be a member! 2013 Chevy Camaro Convertable in California

We had so much fun cruising around in the 2013 Chevy Camaro Convertable in California. We randomly decided to get a rental once we got to the hotel and I’m so GLAD they had this. It was $25 more per day than a compact car from Hertz and so totally worth it! You deff need a car in LA. I can’t imagine being on vacation or living there without a car. I loved hitting the open road and driving to the beach, top down of course. I loved Venice Beach the most. It reminded me so much of where I lived in Bondi Beach in Australia. Did you know that the real Abbot Kinney was a tobacco millionaire who founded it in 1905? Oh the things you learn on Wikipedia.

It’s kind of fun to do the impossible. – Walt Disney #disneyvacay

Last night I had dinner with the Toronto group of media/bloggers going to Disneyland, California next week. We have a full action packed six days of everything a little girl could dream of matched with big girl dreams of parties, shopping, and fine dining. We get to to visit the original Walt Disney apartment (that was only opened to the public last year), rides, haunted house, sunset cruise and more. It’s going to be so romantic. I’ll be there with my BF and besties having the most fun at the happiest place on earth. Can’t. Freaking. Wait. Yesterday I got myself a dozen roses from Loblaws ($9.99!) and when I arrived back at the office I had received a flower delivery! These beauties arrived from a friend on Twitter just to brighten my day. How did he know! Thank you 🙂 Here’s to making today a great day. A week ago I was in Brooklyn, NY on a press junket with the 2013 Justin Bieber tour sponsor essence cosmetics. It was awesome. I got TO MEET JUSTIN BIEBER. (I’m sure you saw or knew when I was there because I could not simply help myself from documenting the entire thing!) He was very… mellow. The concert was really good though, he’s a great performer. Professional Tennis 2013: Venus & Serena

I had no idea who was playing in the first round today when my Rogers Cup tickets arrived from National Bank.I though a Monday night match with my man would be a nice way to finnish off a great long weekend. I’ve never been to this tennis match because I’ve been so hardcore Telus for ages. I still love Telus. It’s crazy how sporting events are branded. Brands everywhere, everywhere a brand, brand. I really liked the Xerox 360 camera booth (got a poster and flipbook) and I won a magazine from the Rogers Zone, the National Bank booth with Andrew Richards Design furniture was a nice place to relax. I saw several charging stations and had free parking with the tickets. There is a shuttle from parking to front door and it’s on until August 11th. Overal fun time and so cool to see IRL, actually. Turns out I picked a great night to come to a match… Two awesome players (and sisters woot!), Venus and Serena Williams played doubles in an exhibition w/ Monica Seles and Eugenie Bouchard. Not bad for my first ever professional tennis match. There was a great atmosphere and I enjoyed myself a lot! I’ve even looked into getting tennis lessons myself now. All I need is a good racquet and some tennis balls and I’m good to go. I’ve learned more about us, especially myself, in this tennis match! It’s certainly ignited a flame I didn’t know I had. The Tragically Hip to Play at Bridle Bash V on August 3

One of the BEST parties I’ve EVER been to is the Bridle Bash. It’s held at a friends private residence on the Bridle Path and brings together and awesome group of people, partiers, and musical guests. This year, THE TRAGICALLY HIP are playing in the ravine backyard for about 800 guests. It’s going to be so freaking awesome! Last time my sister and I went to BB, we ended up on the society page of the Globe & Mail, in the photo above. We put a canoe in the pool and proceeded to give out vodka filled flasks to people all around. It was fantastic. Tickets for BBV can be purchased here and start at $500 each. All the money goes to the Bridle Bash Foundation which supports an array of charities and events in the city of Toronto. For more info on the bash visit the event website here. Canon Blogtography – Step Outside of Auto!

A couple weeks ago I announced my partnership with Canon as a Brand Ambassador and over the past month I’ve been playing around with my new DSLR. The Canon Rebel SL1 is a compact 18 mega pixel camera with touch screen and whole bunch of features I’m not quite versed in yet. I have heaps to learn. Canon has awesome resources and I’ve been playing on canonoutsideofauto.ca but the real way I’m going to learn is TAKING PHOTOS. I’m just getting used to using a DSLR. I’ve got a pretty good eye for composing a nice shot but right now aperture and ISO feel like new languages. Once I learn and understand exposure (ISO, shutter speed and aperture), I’ll be in business. I know it won’t take too long! I’ve been playing around with ISO and exposure. It’s super neat how one photo can be so different by changing just one or two things. This little Rebel has built in filters too. So, naturally I took a few selfies in the park to test them out. This weekend I’m shooting Digital Dreams music festival and in August I’ll be shooting Disneyland and California! Staring in next month have a weekly fashion column for Dose.ca. This is where those Canon skills will really come into play. I’m excited to take my blog to the next level! Below are a few photos I took using (gasp) auto to get used to using the camera. This One’s For The Birds

This is the birds dress. Last week it was ducks. I have about four of the same style dress in different prints. Cardigan is from GAP at Dufferin Mall and I used my CAA card to get 10% off. Huzzah! Thanks CAA! Photos taken and uploaded with HTC One. I really love this little phone. I listen to 102.1 The Edge when I take the streetcar in the mornings. it’s the funniest show. They have this “What’s Wrong With You?” contest where people call in and say what is wrong with them. Sometimes it’s so funny I have to hold back the giggles. Some people have real problems! Ha. New fav coffee shop Hula Girl near Dundas Station. Had a great coffee this morning! They don’t accept debit so tomorrow I’ll be prepared so I can taste something from the snack counter. Sorry for yelling, this is all very exciting. I met some od the team from NY last night and they are just lovely. I’m wondering what you might like to see on THIS? THE FIRST DAY OF MAY

Loving my new HTC One. I’ve got a campaign launching with them any day now. As soon as the link is live I’ll share with you. This phone was MADE for someone like me. I had training on it yesterday at lunch. There are sharing and social components to every aspect of it. I took a bunch of photos & used Zoe, the photo assistant on my way to work today and it made this video from all the content. I didn’t edit the video, add effects, or music, it was ALL DONE BY THE PHONE. THE FUTURE IS NOW. I am so in love with this weather. Woke up with a smile and biked to work early. Life is good. After a long weekend in Boston and feeling anxiety over the bombings, it was a chance to completely shut off my brains and go offline. We each had a 30 minute deep tissue massage with exfoliating back scrub, detox foot bath (with different detox foot bath systems), a foot massage and a paraffin treatment on our hands. IT WAS SO GREAT! Spa Week runs until Sunday and you can get all the participating spas by visiting spaweek.com and entering your city. Last night I used this Collagen treatment I got in my Spa Week gift bag and OH MY GOD. I could use these every night. they were so cooling before bed. I had a great beauty sleep and woke up refreshed. Next on the agenda is to bike more now that the WEATHER HAS FINALLY DECIDED to get warmer. I can’t wait for summer. This is my first summer in years that I’ll have a FT job. Luckily, our office is right beside Bellwoods in my fav hood. Love ya! CASIE

My Boston Marathon 2013

* Note – I wrote this yesterday before the bombings happened in Boston. I was there all weekend. Thought I shoudl do a little update so I didn’t seem insensitive or something. It’s really horrible what happened. A friend shared this really great article in The Atlantic about the whole thing and I share it with you. “We actually have all the power here, and there’s one thing we can do to render terrorism ineffective: Refuse to be terrorized. It’s hard to do, because terrorism is designed precisely to scare people — far out of proportion to its actual danger. A huge amount of research on fear and the brain teaches us that we exaggerate threats that are rare, spectacular, immediate, random — in this case involving an innocent child — senseless, horrific and graphic. Terrorism pushes all of our fear buttons, really hard, and we overreact. But our brains are fooling us. Even though this will be in the news for weeks, we should recognize this for what it is: a rare event. I’m not much of a marathon runner (yet) but my weekend in Beantown was somewhat of a marathon too. We had an awesome time! I wish I was there longer to check out more sights and do more things. Yoga with Joseph at Anamaya Resort in Costa Rica, Pura Vida!

Last winter I visited Anamaya Resort for a yoga & surfing retreat in Costa Rica. It was heaven! A truly magical place. I am dying to go back there to the ocean and the jungle. Especially right now since it’s NOT EVEN WARM OUT YET! I just got sent this lovely video of us on the deck doing synchronized yoga with Joseph. I can’t tell you how WONDERFUL it was to do yoga here each morning and surf in the afternoon. My hair is wild today. Leftovers from my fashion makeover last night. Lipstick is Coral Crush my Maybelline that Lucky used on me last night. I went out and bought it right after! Owl sweater is Emma Cook from Top Shop I got in England. Wool & warm for this urghhhh weather. Shows on my WMCFW schedule for tonight are David Dixon, DUY, and Line Knitwear. It’s freezing guys. Too cold for fashion week! WTF is up with the snow? This is what backstage in hair & makeup looks like. I got a mega VIP experience last night and had my hair & makeup done by the lovely Lucky. We used to work at MuchMuaic/MTV years ago.
