SPRING It ON!

Oh hey it’s Thursday and almost the weekend! Had a blast at fashion week last night with my bestie but more about that later. Busy day! Some exciting things coming up for next week but for now all I can think about is jumping in the car after work tomorrow and heading up to the cottage! I’ve been waiting months for this and I am dyyyyyyying to get up there and away from the city. Remember this … Heaven is a place on earth with you 🙂 <3 CASIE

Swimming Pool, Sunshine’s Cool, Winter Drools

I was saying yesterday how I’m really looking forward to summer and sunshine and the cottage. I found myself looking through old photos of us last night, hanging out in Muskoka, relaxing with the calm sound of nature and the lake. I’m due for a vacation. Thailand was months ago and although it was a really good time, it was the opposite of relaxing! We were on a tight media schedule and it was rare to have a couple hours alone for naps or lazing on the beach. I just want to feel that sunshine. I want to feel warm. I’ve not taken off my scarf or hat since arriving at the office and there’s a space heater beside me. This is the longest winter in 25 years and we’ve had a record number of ‘cold weather alert’ days. I try my best to stay positive and not let the weather get me down but sheesh, this is the hardest it’s been. I know months down the road I’ll look back at this and think, if you could get through this you can get through anything. It’s snowing again… <3 CASIE

Travel | Postcard from Montreal

A couple years ago Sean and I drove to Montreal in a Fiesta for a weekend sponsored by Ford Canada. It was really fun and the weather was warm. We stayed at the W Montreal which I totally love, ate good food, and spent afternoons in the sunshine. This is the video Sean edited of our weekend ‘Postcard from Montreal’. Summer, please come back soon. I’m dying to get back up the the cottage ♥ CASIE

Trinity Bellwoods park – the day I got my new bike. The same bike that was recently stolen 🙁 Smart Set photo shoot in New York City. The shoot I flew to NY to be at for 5 hours then home. Setup of the Grey Goose Cherry Noir party way back when. We trended in Canada that night. The view at my old condo that I don’t really miss. It was good while it lasted. The lake from the back of the cottage. We have so much fun up there, a little slice of paradise. Sometimes the sky was so beautiful from this view. I used to watch the planes land, dream of adventure. I don’t remember where this was. Another party, night on the town, when you look back they’re all the same. I’m pretty sure this was at The Spoke Club for an event. They have such great food there, I should be a member. Last week I water damaged my beloved HTC One. I loved that phone SO much. It was the best phone I have had ever. I put it in rice with hopes it would come but to life but I am afraid, it’s not gonna happen. Got a new iPhone 5s and these are all panoramic photos that came back from iCloud. I thought they would make a nice story.  The slow motion video and thumb print things are pretty cool to be honest. I go through more phones that anyone I know. Imma try and keep this little baby around for a while! <3 CASIE

WMCFW: Here’s How I Prepped for A Busy Week!

I had a lovely and relaxing weekend. Went to Screemers on Friday night for a good scare and spent Saturday afternoon at Hammam Spa. I’ve gone there a few times lately as a way to treat myself to some relaxation. this time I went a little early to relax in the steam room before my full body mud wrap. My skin felt like silk after! Thank you Hammam Spa for this little gift bag! I had tweeted them the day before about the 20% Stylicity discount (available now!) and they left me some goodies. Oh how I love the Internet! This little pink makeup bag is from Ted Baker London and I keep it in my purse to freshen up my look since I often head to events right after work. In it are always a few of my fav things: Essence Nailpolish – dries fast! Essence mascara – not expensive but great volume Rescue Remedy – if you have anxiety, this stuff is for you! Elizabeth Grant blue stick for redness – this stuff is great! Burts Bees – staple! Elizabeth Grant dark circle concealer Dermologica Age Smart primer & tinted moisturizer – both with SPF Moroccanoil Moisturizer stays at home but it’s great and smells wonderful I recieved a few things in the mail this week to get me ready for Fashion Week. A new toothbrush from Phillips and a whitening pen. I take really good care of my teeth so these were a treat! In other news, I was in an electric toothbrush commercial when I was 16. It aired in the USA, the kind you’ll see many a Dentist in Manchester and other dentists and surgeries within the US of A fully endorse and say they can be the best for your oral hygiene. These D.…

There’s Art in My Heart and It’s Beating Rainbow Bright

I love this weather and time of year for the sheer beauty of photos. I can’t wait to get out in the wild with my new Canon DSLR at the cottage this weekend and snap some photos. Have a new Canon post coming up next week. Saw this beauty new mural in progress near Queen and Niagara. It’s full of bright colours and even on a rainy day, was a beauty to see. Dripping and bleeding with rainbow bright colours. I’m decked out in lots of colours and leopard print today, there’s no rain on my parade, honey. Pants are from Gap, jacket and hat H&M, scarf Ted Baker London, shoes Sperry Top Siders, smile, natural. Umbrella was picked up on that fashion trip to  Calgary last year for Paul Hardy’s 10th anniversary. rainbow bright In other news… I have been telling you about Lorde for nearly a year, so happy the world recognizes her now too. How do you get ideas?

Good morning! I did lots of cooking this weekend and got a main pedi w/ my man yesterday. It felt like being at the cottage without being at the cottage. I got lots of sleep too. Found this little book while cleaning up and as I started flipping the pages, I was reminded just how many ideas I have a day. My mind is like a crazy labyrinth with winding passages and ideas at every turn. It feels great to have had a relax-around-the-house weekend. He calls me ‘DomestiCasie’ when I’m in that mode, cute. We are off to California on Thursday for a six day adventure. I can’t wait! Picked up these gorgeous Rimowa cases for our travels. I snagged a couple goodies at the Blogger Bazar yesterday. If there is another, def worth stopping by! Will surely pick up a few things in LA too. Busy three days ahead! Sending you sunshine and hope you have a wonderful day. <3 CASIE Buy Flomax online Buy Abilify online Buy Aciphex online

I Don’t Care if Monday’s Blue

Had a great weekend up at the cottage with my love. Hung out with Lauren too. I’m off to NY on Thursday and can’t wait to get away for a few days. Passed by Beerfest for a little tour yesterday afternoon. It was fun. Lauren had her first big comedy show last night. Like proud parents, we were there to support! Put this on and think happy thoughts. Always puts a smile on my face 🙂

Blog Life: Sometimes I don’t feel like it. #9

It’s a weird and wonderful thing having a blog, a public diary about your life. I love going back and reading about my adventures, Googling photos and finding lost memories, but, sometimes I don’t feel like it. This week, is one of those. Although, there’s no shortage of Instagrams and Tweets, Pins and reblogs on Tumblr flooding the Internet daily, all posted by me. This weekend I’m packing up my condo to move to the new house and I couldn’t be more happy about it don’t feel like it. I wanna play outside! I can’t wait for my trips to NY & LA next month. I’ll be back up at the cottage next weekend too. I reckon I’ll catch up on posts this weekend and we’ll be back business in no time! Hope you’re having a stellar day and sitting in somewhere with AC. Remember you can always find me on the Twitter! Much love, CASIE

Canon Blogtography – Step Outside of Auto!

A couple weeks ago I announced my partnership with Canon as a Brand Ambassador and over the past month  I’ve been playing around with my new DSLR. The Canon Rebel SL1 is a compact 18 mega pixel camera with touch screen and whole bunch of features I’m not quite versed in yet.  I have heaps to learn.  Canon has awesome resources and I’ve been playing on canonoutsideofauto.ca but the real way I’m going to learn is TAKING PHOTOS. I’m just getting used to using a DSLR. I’ve got a pretty good eye for composing a nice shot but right now aperture and ISO feel like new languages. Once I  learn and understand exposure (ISO, shutter speed and aperture), I’ll be in business. I know it won’t take too long! I’ve been playing around with ISO and exposure. It’s super neat how one photo can be so different by changing just one or two things. This little Rebel has built in filters too. So, naturally I took a few selfies in the park to test them out. This weekend I’m shooting Digital Dreams music festival and in August I’ll be shooting Disneyland and California! Staring in next month have a weekly fashion column for Dose.ca. This is where those Canon skills will really come into play. I’m excited to take my blog to the next level! Below are a few photos I took using (gasp) auto to get used to using the camera.  One of the most beautiful things, a perfect avocado! Limba the 50 year old elephant at Bowmanville Zoo. A baby giraffe peeks out his head at Bowmanville Zoo. I need to work on depth and focus. Flower pot at the cottage in Muskoka. The dock and boat at sunset in Muskoka. Gonna to practice camera settings in nature. Over the next couple months I’ll be…

Dailybooth Archive 2009-2012, This Is My Life in Photos.

Ok computer, anyone remember Dailybooth? DailyBooth was the original photoblogging site for people to take a photo each day with a caption. The goal was “your life in photos” in order to document and share. It allowed you to post on Twitter and follow other users within the service for  real-time updates. I loved it. Wrote about my Dailybooth romance in this post. Last year in Auston for SXSW I met a Dailybooth friend IRL. It was awesome! In August, 2009, the site had over 3 million unique visitors a month with a growth rate of about 35% a month.[2] On 11 November 2012, it was announced that Dailybooth was closing down, with users able to access and download their content until 31 December. The site was completely deleted after that.  Demi, Ashton, and iJustine used to use it heaps. I download all my nearly 800 photos from my database and put them in a video as a memory. That’s why I started blogging in the first place, to keep more memories. I learned how beat map photos in iMovie when I made this. I’m no expert video editor but I’d like to get better at it. I’m hoping to get a new camera soon so I can start filming some epic si*t. Huzzah! I’m the couch at the cottage watching movies and computing all day. It’s great! Happy Sunday 🙂 <3 CASIE  RIP!

Girls, Tattoos, Attitude + Sun

I haven’t decided to colour in the owl on my arm or not. I like it like this. I think it’s time for some new work. I have a few ideas but it’s time to get drawing. Some nice girl tattoos on this blog I found. My right arm has tattoos because I’m left handed and I draw them on first. Had a jerk chicken sandwich on the patio at Harlem Underground yesterday. Was ok, made me miss Ackee Tree, that place had the best jerk sandwich ever. Loving this warm summer sunshine. The lake waves are crashing on the dock. Rdio cottage mix in the background. Beaut! Enjoy the day! CASIE

And she was fair as is the rose in May.

Earlier this months I was chosen by Lancome Canada as one of 20 artists in Canada to be part of their big digital show for Luminato Festival. I was super stoked to be chosen for this experience! The theme was ‘the rose’ so I had my BF shoot me with a dozen roses up at the cottage in the sunshine. Unfortunately, I submitted my photos LATE and they would not accept them for the show. See below for a bunch of photos. They are kinda big so I didn’t leave them all on the homepage!

About Town w/ the New HTC One

It’s been one week with the new HTC One and I can say two things, I’ve never been stopped so much for someone to look at a device and I don’t really miss my iPhone. I’ve literally been stopped (by dudes mostly) in the elevator, at Target, at bars, and at dinner, just to show it off and have them touch it. It’s a good feeling. I took all these  photos with my new HTC One over the last couple days. The front facing cam on this baby is out of this world, you’ve never had selfies so fresh. There’s a couple photo skills I’m working on but overall, this is the best phone camera I‘ve ever had. Last week I went to a training session and it was super cool to learn about the technology behind this little guy. The pixels are bigger than other phone cameras which makes the images clearer.  All the apps and features on the phone come with sharing options, so, for someone like me who is a Tweets, blogs, and creates heaps of content, it’s perfect. HTC is launching a MASSIVE contest and I’m part of the prize. That’s all I can say for now. Keep your eyes here for details. I’m looking…

Where do we find the will and the courage to continue?

This is one of my fav songs on one of my fav all time albums. This weekend I sat alone, late and at the cottage kitchen table writing, finally working on that book I’m been talking about, and finally doing some web stuff I’ve been avoiding. It wasn’t until I slowed down, I realized how fast I was going. I’ve always liked MIA but “Live fast, Die Young” isn’t in my creative “take over the world” plan.  If I’m ever having a bad day, I go put on Lisa Loeb – Tails or White Stripes – Elephant. I love those albums. This is Dad and I doing the CN Tower Eggewalk about a year ago, almost to the day. It was so awesome. This Makes Me Happy When problems overwhelm, us and sadness smothers us, where do we find the will and the courage to continue? Well, the answer may come in the caring voice of a friend, a chance encounter with a book, or from a personal faith. For Janet help came from her faith, but it also from a squirrel. Shortly after her divorce, Janet lost her father, then she lost her job. She had mounting money problems. But Janet not only survived, she worked her way out of despondency and now she says, life is good again. How could this happen? She told me that late one Autumn day when she was at her lowest she watched a squirrel storing up nuts for the winter, one at a time he would take them to the nest. And she thought, if that squirrel can take care of himself with the harsh winter coming along, then so can I. Once I broke my problems into small pieces I was able to carry them, just like those acorns, one at a time.…

Green Eyes, Snoop Dogg, Flowers! Spring?

SPRING? WHERE ARE YOU! We had the cottage open this time last year and I’m pretty sure I had a tan. I’ve just about had enough, who do we call to make something happen about this weather? I hate to complain about it but that’s what we do in Canada, ok, say sorry heaps and talk about the weather. Ha! Despite it being kinda meh the sun sis out and I took a stroll through the park. I love that the tennis court in Trinity Bellwoods has turned into some kind of public (and very random) art gallery space. Thought this iceberg and boat was really neat. Makes me think of creative people, you see one thing on the surface but below that is a wild undersea upside down mountain of creativity. I am really into this car. I would like to drive around in it and listen to Snoop Dogg. You know what I’m sayin? Hit play and you’ll know. Wearing Green contacts from Air Optix Colors. They look really bright in the sunshine. It’s seriously been so fun trying out all these different colours the last few months. Check out all the other colours I’ve tried out here. You can get Air Optix Colors from your eye doctor and as a new contacts wearer, I like that they are comfortable and allow my eyes to breathe. I reckon if you are someone who wears contact all the time this would be the most fun cause you can switch ’em up each month. For more info visit airoptixcolors.ca. These are for you. You deserve them! Sister selfie! Follow Jenie on IG at @jeniestewart. Hope you are having a great day and enjoy the flowers. Earth Day 2013 + Big Face Animal Shirt from The Mountain

It’s Earth Day! Today, more than usual, we give attention and praise to our cool green & blue planet!  I am so freaking happy the weather is finally getting warm. I try to trick myself into thinking if doesn’t bother me but, it’s almost MAY and cold. I was born May 8th and I prefer it to be hot by then. (THAT IS A HINT) This weekend, I was lucky to be up  north opening the cottage. Took some photos with my new Fuju XF1 and wore my BIG FACE GREAT HORNED OWL from The Mountain. I was sent it as a gift just in time for Earth Day. So great. WHOOOOOO is the coolest? Get it? Urgh, clearly I am not cool or funny. I also have the Boston Terrier but I’m saving that one, for a special occasion. A typical day at work at The Mountain twitter.com/TheMountainTee… — The Mountain Tees (@TheMountainTees) March 14, 2013 The Mountain seems like a pretty fun company (see tweet above if you did not already see tweet above). The Mountain produces tees made in the U.S. with water based inks and PVC-free operations and even invented a new dye oxidation system that cleans their dye waste water without the use of any chemicals. My friend Kenny at work has a couple, so when they emailed me I was totally into it. I want more friends to have them so we can be a wild kingdom. Mine is Youth XL for $14. If you are my friend and your birthday is coming you might get one. I was laying on my yoga mat in the sun staring up at this tree. It looked pretty and different colours in the sun. After a relaxing weekend staring at trees, sky, lake, and sunshine, it was time for me…

Friday I’m in Love (with Weekend)

That long weekend was a magical thing. Was planning to head up north to the cottage but got stopped by the snow. Which, turned out for the better, got a bunch done around the house and we made it into a staycation. This is the awesome 3Dprint from the Hop Pop Factory kissing booth last week w/ Sean. We had such a great Valentines week long celebration starting last Sunday (with a little blue box gift from Tiffany’s!) and went until the following Monday. We’re both full time romatics so Valentines Day lasts all year.   He gave me the most beauty rose before a dinner date.   We went to Playa Cabana Cantina, Dundas West for Mexican. It was wonderful. I need a vacation. Kenny played a little prank at work on Friday.   Sean and I watched the entire season on House of Cards this weekend. great show. Had a chuckle at the movie categories on Netflix, can you guess who is who?   I love Claire’s style in House of Cards. Elegant, she means business. This week is gonna be a wet one. Don’t let it get you down. Spring will be here soon and the weekend even sooner Have a wonderful day 🙂

Rdio & Sync in the 2012 Ford Fiesta

Earlier this year I drove to Austin, Texas from Toronto in a Ford Focus with two friends, it was the playlist that made the long drive bearable. This summer I’ve been used Rdio, a music streaming service that is fairly new to Canada. You can use listen your favourite music on all devices online or off. You can also create playlists with friends and share your tunes on Twitter & Facebook. Rdio has been a hit at the cottage, awesome on the subway, and perfect for road trips. My free trial ran out last month and I IMMEDIATLEY went to pay for the service. That’s how you really know something is amazing. Below you will find my road trip playlist from my Montreal trip in August. It’s good to work with. It took about six hours to drive with traffic so having access to TONS of music in the car was essential.  I have the Rdio app on my iPhone and connected it to the Ford Fiesta using Sync & USB. You’ll need to turn on Bluetooth in your smart phone in order to connect it using Sync. If you are having trouble at all the manual has step by step instructions on getting you connected. Make sure you plug the phone right into the USB jack if you are not using Bluetooth. I got frustrated wondering why it wasn’t working until I realized… I plugged it into the car charger and not the actual car. Whoops! Using a USB to connect is a fool proof way to get your music from device to car. Happy Music Monday 🙂 CASIE
