Well ladies & gents, 2016 is here and I am so glad.  16 is a favourite number of mine and to be honest 2015 was a hard year. Felt I was getting off track a bit and my health wasn’t 100%, so,  I’m facing 2016 with a clear head and excitement. The tattoo I have on my left arm is 16 dots, evenly spaced, in two shades of green like a beaded bracelet. It’s a perfect square, and 16 2x 8, my fav number of them all.  This is the sweet sixteen!  [symple_divider style=”solid” margin_top=”5″ margin_bottom=”5″] Today was a good day, went out for a drive around 9:30am, the streets were bare and the air was calm. After, I made a nice breakfast and spent some time cleaning up the house. I had this plan where I wanted to go out and take a great photo with my GoPro and a confetti cannon. After driving around with BF and child, we wound up getting lunch and coming home. I went out to an alley near our place by myself, set up my camera, and popped the cannon. Much to my disappointment, it wasn’t recording video and the confetti made a beautiful display, then flew away in the wind. That moment will forever be in my memory and NOT on Instagram. Whoops! It’s ok, everything doesn’t always go as planned! I took a deep breath, laughed it off to myself and went back home where it was warm. This is my first selfie of 2016. I mean it’s my ACTUAL first selfie in the 20 I took to get a nice one (which we all know is what happens). I added some lighting to brighten it up a bit, but the first one is always the best. I continuously take a pile to get the perfect one and then, voila, the first one…

I really loved driving this car. I picked it up Friday in Ajax, cruised back to the city then spent a couple days in cottage country. It was beautiful to drive on the highway and also be a passenger in. Two features I really loved were heated seats w/ several massage options and the fast accelerating. I fount it a bit long for city driving/parking but it was v. luxurious. I feel an Audi would be a good car for us, I think the Q5 or Q7 is next on my test drive list. The exact car I had was equipped with $20K in upgrades including a $5k Bang & Olufsen sound system that was pretty amazing. You can bet 100% I was cruising to Drake and them singing along and crying to the new Adele. I really love test driving new cars. I grew up in the garage and around my dad’s hot rod shop, so I’ve always been around lots of different ones. Connecting to the nav system with my phone is something I like to test out right away, no issues with the A7. It was great to take calls through the speakers or use Google Maps via my phone to navigate. I took Carynn to Woodbine for sister date. She’d never been and I thought betting on the ponies would be a fun afternoon and it WAS.She picked the winning horse for 2 races in a row and cashed in both times. We had lunch at Favourites on the second floor, traditional buffet with a vast array of different foods. Both of us won a couple dollars on the first race we bet on. WOOT. Love these glasses, latest pair from polette.com in France. Then Carynn killed it on the next race and won $72.65. Taking someone to the races for their first time THEN having them win is the most fun. Doesn’t matter how much you win, leaving home w/ extra cash in your pocket is awesome! I love people watching, especially mid-race when they’re cheering and screaming. It’s exciting! Over the past couple months I’ve noticed more and more young peeps there, millennials. That’s a wrap on summer! Had a nice relaxing weekend at the cottage. Still a few weeks before we close the place up. The leaves have just started changing. It’s beautiful. Yesterday Sean and I heard this crazy loud noise when we were out for  drive. It was Ontario Watercross Racing – snowmobile racing on water.  I didn’t know this was a thing! They have to keep going at pretty fast speed to stay on top of the water. Saw  few go down and get pulled up from the bottom of the lake. The course includes going around a couple buoys then sliding back to the sand. It’s super fast. We watched a few runs and victory laps on the grass before heading home. They’re REALLLLLLY loud. (Sorry this is showing up so small!) Picked up a few of these little guys . I love this time of year! I know I say that about every season but they each have their charm, they really do. Been thinking a fair bit about halloween and what costumes I want to go with this year. Had a nice sunset cruise in the boat last night. Perfect way to close out summer at the cottage. Have a pretty crazy adventure planned for next weekend at the cottage. A brand is sending two private planes to take some friends and I  and flying around Muskoka and to Port Carling. I’m excited. Will share more about that later. There is a harmony in autumn, and a luster in its sky, which through the summer is not heard or seen, as if it could not be, as if it had not been! Oh haiiiii! That’s me in the new Ford Escape w/ CBC news anchor Peter Mansbridge  in the background. The scavenger hunt I did on the weekend called for a photo with a famous person. They didn’t specify if it had to be a famous person IRL, y’know? We started out at Rock Lobster Queen East with a bunch of bloggers for some eats. There, we got a tour of the features including Ford SYNC 3 and AppLink. It was my first time having brunch at Rock Lobster and the food was delish. We were two of the first to arrive and it was so fun seeing the blog crew arriving. Lots of hugs and screaming and laughter. I’d worked with most of the crew hired to shoot the day (via 1188), so we all had a chuckle when I walked in! The rest of the afternoon had us touring the city with a list of tasks to accomplish before meeting to tally the winner our last stop. We ended up having a car to ourselves, so we sang really loud to Justin Bieber and the playlist Ford made us on Spotify. This is one of Toronto’s weird houses. It’s covered in dolls and children’s toys. It’s super creepy. The owner once won the best garden. Seriously. This week was a busy one! I was looking through photos and decided it would be a good idea to take a look back. Monday I was back on Sirius XM co-hosting the Todd Shapiro Show. It was super fun. Listen to it here.   I’m working on a big project at 1188 and we had a meeting over foot massages. SMARTEST IDEA. There’s a little spot at Queen/Portland, $25 for 30min. Not prices like Thailand but the massage was just as good! Work work.  Tuesday was the NKPR pre-TIFF media event at Natasha’s house. Tahnee was there! It was great to see all the fashion/media peeps after a long relaxing summer. The crazy is about to begin! Can’t wait for TIFF. Recognize these bachelors? Tim (L) and I shot a TV show earlier this year with NKPR. Todd isn’t a bachelor anymore tho. Brad (R) is on TV in Canada and a former Bachelor for those of you not from here.   The NKPR IT Lounge has been going on for 10 years. It’s a VIP gifting suite and portrait studio. Caitlin Cronenberg is shooting it for W Magazine again this year. I’ll be popping by on Sept. 9th. Wednesday night Greta Constantine hosted La Piscine. Last couple days have been really relaxing. I have to remind myself what day it is. Yesterday I slept heaps. Feeling fresh today! Didn’t get anywhere on my glamping goals (it rained) but maybe today. Started the day w/ a cruise in the boat then came home and make some brekky. Whipped up a little fruit salad to keep in the fridge for healthy snacking. Went to a HUGE cottage party in Port Carling last night. The property was massive, big cottage, boathouse, beach volleyball,  BBQ, fire pit, and a funhouse to play in.

Oh hi, it’s me and my smiling face. Started the week out pretty carefree, rode my bike a bunch, spent some time in the sun.   Now, I’m ready for the weekend. Been working on a big client campaign the last two days and have been in the office non-stop, and late.  It’s really nice out today. I love this weather. When I’m not working from home (or the cottage!) I take a few mins every hour to pop outside, ring mum, or soak up some vitamin D.    Put some Kevin Murphy Colour Bug in my hair today. I miss having coloured hair. My roots are coming in so I mostly put it there. It’s faded out to a nice cotton candy.   Wearing new kicks sent from Reebok Canada + WayHome Festival. I used to have a pair like this back in grade 7 or 8, the Reebok Classics. We’re heading up to the cottage this and going to WayHome. Sean is really looking forward to Neil Young tomorrow night. I’m stoked to see Vange Joy and Future Islands.  The weekend can’t come soon enough!  ❤️☀️😎 CASIE   

Had a wonderful weekend! Mum and I really enjoyed Ottawa and seeing Serena Ryder, photos and stories about that tomorrow. Queen’s Plate yesterday was really fun too.  Today I went to Vaughan Mills to do some shopping for an upcoming project. I’d not been to the mall there before and HOLY MOLY there are so many stores and great deals.      In between doing work today I also got a new mani. 💅🏼   Saw this sweet Camaro.     Absolutely loving this warm weather. We’ve planned some dedicated time up at the cottage this month and I CAN’T WAIT.   Hoping your week is off to a great start! 💛 CASIE  

Took the subway earlier this week as the thought of driving across the city seemed like a nightmare.  Especially the highway.  There’s new HOV lanes that require 3 passengers so the others are all jammed up. People have been buying mannequins and jacking up their cars w/ ‘passengers’. Haha.   In case you don’t know, Toronto is hosting the PanAm Games and the city is preparing for it all to start this weekend. There’s a ton of things affecting the regular city flow and none of the people have arrived yet. I don’t have tickets yet but I’m sure I’ll check out something. I’m hoping to retreat to cottage country after next weekend. There I can watch the chaos unfold via mobile from the dock. I like riding the subway during the day. It’s peaceful without crowds of people around. I used to take the TTC over an hour headway to work when I first moved to Toronto.  I worked in the fashion industry and it wasn’t glamorous but I was certain about following that path. Excited about visiting Ottawa this weekend. Calgary last week was fun. It’s been a while since I discovered my own country. All in a days work! ?? CASIE
