Day 348: Clubhouse Prom 2021

I attended the first-ever Clubhouse Prom and it was so much fun. Your girl even won Offical Clubhouse Prom Queen 2021! The prom was hosted by Club F_ck It, the official home of Clubhouse’s longest-running party show. I’d joined the party a few times and was so happy to be included in the prom gang! You might be thinking, isn’t Clubhouse an audio-only app? Yes, you are correct. I don’t really know how to explain it, but Clubhouse Prom was a real event, part performance art, drama, improv, and comedy. It was such a memorable experience. Virtual events have become our reality these days. As we’ve seen with Clubhouse, audio is emerging as a seriously cool way to connect. On Wednesday before, there was a ‘Promposals’ room where people asked each other to prom. Before the night started, all the girls joined a room while getting ready. Before leaving to go to the actual event, we changed our profile images to hot pink Hummer limos. That way, we’d all show up in limos and reveal our outfits one by one. It took some time to coordinate the couples and order of guests on stage but the Mods did an amazing job. I loved getting fully dressed up in an outfit with hair and makeup, it’s been so long! It was recommended that everyone dress up and change their profile photo to their look of the night. I picked up some drinks earlier in the day and was ready to party! Prom dates had the same photo for most of the night, then changed them again to share stories about snacks, drinks, accessories, or just about anything else. Happiness & Social Media/Life Balance

That’s a wrap on #TIFF19 for me! This week I’m working on a Vitamix commercial w/ 1188 doing props & set styling. I love it! Over the past couple of years, I’ve been all about JOMO vs FOMO (see this post). The joy of missing out is something I’ve come to love, I think it comes with age and experience. This is the first TIFF, I didn’t go partying, stay out late, or drink alcohol. I put my happiness and health first, yay adulting! Finding Balance: The Telus Happiness Workshop This summer I spent a week in Vancouver for the Telus Creator Summit with the #Telus_Partner team from across Canada. It was 4 action-packed days of volunteering, adventure, food, drinks, and learning about the many sides of Telus business. I had heaps of fun and made new friends but by the last day, I was totally exhausted. Telus anticipated this and used it as an opportunity to bring us together for a Happiness Workshop. We put down our phones, learned about disconnecting, and finished with yoga, meditation, and lunch. Not something you would expect from a telecom giant but that just goes to show how Telus is different. During the workshop, something amazing happened… The whole group of bloggers, YouTubers, and content creators started talking about how much social media stresses them out. The pressure to create, stay positive, be healthy, have a clean house, great photos, have good engagement, make money, collect the money, have good relationships, be a good parent, be a good partner, AND remain sane while living this crazy internet life. IT WAS SO REFRESHING. It felt like a weight was lifted knowing we all have similar feelings about social media anxiety, it connected us. Local Ladies – Documentary

This weekend I was invited to sit down with Katie and Meghan, who created Local Ladies, a series all about telling women’s stories in the community. Over the past three years, they’ve interviewed women and screened the short films to raise funds for Women in Crisis. I was interviewed for a feature documentary they will be screening in September. Some of the other Local Ladies! The Local Ladies mission is to shine a light on as many incredible women in the community as possible through interviews, collaboration videos, and *soon* a podcast. Check out their Press for Progress video they created for International Women’s Day 2018. The short film was then screened on March 8th at the Princess Twin in Uptown Waterloo. The studio had great lighting so I took a bajillion selfies. I am also obsessed with this bright emoji yellow and will be wearing it from here on in. ? I love Twitter, I have since the day I joined over 10 years ago. It’s still my favourite social media platform, it’s the place news breaks and where you want to be when live events happen around the world. This Is My Life | Cyberbullying

Putting yourself out there on the internet or *IRL takes a lot of courage. Having a blog opens you up for all kinds of criticism, haterade, or anonymous comments. My world, the one I’ve created online, is pretty positive, but I’ve had my share of cyberbullying. It’s important to fight back against trolls, for example you could use an instagram story viewer app to save any abusive posts so that you can use them as evidence against them. It’s also important to learn how you can avoid being exposed to this kind of harassment and Telus has an award winning Canadian program about how to protect you and your family online. This is My Life | My Name is Casie, Not Cassie

I made this video ages ago and it’s based on a true story. The true story of my entire life explaining that, no, my name isn’t Cassie, it’s Casie. Like Casey Casem, Casey Neistat, Casey and Finnegan, Casey at the Bat, Casey Affleck. It’s just spelled with an ‘ie’. I often meet people who know me from the Internet but have never met me in real life, calls with clients, agencies, all kinds of people and it happens ALL THE TIME, they call me Cassie. Today is #BestFriendsDay! Tell Your BFF You <3 Them!

Whether you’ve been reading here for years or you’re new to the space, you’ll know my blog a positive place on the Internet. If you’re ever having a bad day, you can always pop over in and see bright colours, and something to put a smile on your face. Usually me, shining back at you from across the Internet. 🙋💛 I was recently contacted from 3M to help spread the word about Best Friends Day, June 8th. As a long time lover of Post-It Notes (yes, they’re all over my home office, work desk, books, purse) and firm believer in spreading love, I was IN. It’s the perfect time to tell your BFF how much they mean to you. Late last year 3M joined forces with students across North America for Positive Post-It Day, encouraging people to grab a note, write something nice, and share it around campus. This movement on October 9th sparked a whole bunch of events where people were sharing positivity on Post-Its to friends and strangers. Today is Best Friends Day and I’m encouraging YOU to share a note with a BFF you care about. It could be a BFF, sister, brother, GF, BF, mum, dad, or anyone you wanna remind of their awesomeness. Name Change, Storia, the visual storytelling app

There’s a new look for the app Storia, formally known as Selfish. Over the past few months I’ve been in a small group of beta testers helping to improve the app before they launch in the app store. Aside from the name change, they’ve added faster image uploads, more collaboration options and they’re about to release better offline support, and font editing. For me, the name change is a big thing. Y’all know love sharing and so sharing an app called selfish felt a little backwards. Storia is for collaborating on stories with others and sharing things around a topic. A few things I’ve been documenting in the app are travel adventures, behind the scenes of recent shoots, snippits from the blog, and spring style. My blog and travel stories are authored only by me but a bunch of my others, like spring style have collaborators. Currently the app is only available on iPhone in Canada and Russia. It’ll be on Android soon. It’s been cool working with an app while in beta and then seeing it launch. Our small group has given heaps of feedback and seeing those changes come to life is pretty neat. I wrote this years ago and just found it and that’s why I love having a blog. I don’t think I’ll ever stop blogging. It’s been 10 years. I’ve written so many things. I can hardly believe so much has happened in that time. I think bloggers have to love their blogs. You spend so much time there, blogging. It’s a collection of stories and photos. We Won BEST DOCUMENTARY! OMG!

This morning I was welcomed by good news! At December’s Daring Independent Film Festival, It’s All About Me – Feature Documentary won the AWARD FOR BEST DOCUMENTARY 2013! This is pretty exciting as we were also selected for the Ottawa Film Festival in October and won the MADA (Make a Difference) Award at COMMFFEST Global Film Festival in September. Award Winners at Daring Independent Film Festival 2013 Here’s Jenie, Mum, BF and I at the premiere in September. Watch the trailer below. I’ve heard it might be turned into a TV doc and we’ve been optioned for a radio show series starting later this month. I’ll keep you posted for the launch. MAKE EVERY MOMENT COUNT! #ContikiThai

I’ve mentioned it here and there around the web but this is my formal post, CONTIKI IS SENDING ME TO THAILAND! I leave on Saturday for 2 weeks away with about a dozen of Canada’s top YouTubers. I’ve never been to Asia and had to get a bunch of shots last week to get me prepped. We have an AMAZING itinerary planned by the great team at Contiki. I am honestly SO EXCITED. I’ve heard it’s a great time of year to go there and considering we might get snow today, I’m ready for some sunshine. I’ve been tracking the weather in Thailand and it’s been over 25 degrees every single day for the last week. I’ve been pinning photos and articles on a new Thailand – Nov. 2013 board. It’s so beautiful there! I’ve known about Contiki as a great travel company from heaps of my cousins and friends down under. Something I’ve been really passionate about since working at a TV station a couple years ago. The magic of Twitter and TV fascinates me. I love real time communication, advertising, and interaction.
