CSAW Company | Good Kid Mad Hope

Sean got me this Good Kid Mad Hope hoodie from the CSAW Company for my birthday. Didn’t realize just HOW rad CSAW is. It’s also super soft and perfect for this not-yet-summer weather we’re having. You’ll see me living in this and the COTTAGE sweater (both from Community 54) right into the fall. Ellie Goulding in the same hoodie. Whut whut. I’m ready for the weekend. Heading up to Muskoka later this afternoon. Can’t wait to be on the lake, and wake up in the wilderness tomorrow morning. Get Luckee + Get Leather

This week was a busy one. Stayed in last night. There were no cabs due to the rain so I picked Em up from school in a black Lincoln town car from Uber. I had a couple credits so it wasn’t that bad! She was totes excited and I then ordered takeout for dinner. Wednesday was the opening of Susur Lee’s new spot Luckee at the Soho Met hotel. [Susur Lee selfie] Fun opening, and the food I got around to trying was great. I need to go back for a sit down dinner. I’ve done a few things with Met hotels over the years (here + here) plus Community Agency did the Luckee branding so it was great to see lots of familiar faces since we’ve all been hibernating for months. Lauren and I met SANDY COHEN. If you follow me on any other social network you’ve probably seen this already. I loved the OC so much. We were there and Laguna last summer, so much fun. My ‘Celebrity Selfie’ collection is really growing. The Rudsak sample sale is on till Sunday. I’ve worn my new jacket and used my new bag on the daily day since I picked them out Wednesday. Mellow Yellow Monday

It’a super nice out today. I took off my jacket to snap some photos on my way to work and the sun was already beating down. I heard it might get up to 20 today. It’s about time I start using my Canon DSLR now that it’s nice out. Last summer I was just getting to learn how to use it as an ambassador w/ Canon for the Canon Blogtography program. I’m happy these pants still fit, I really need to get my summer bod rockin’. Since the winter was so long and cold I managed to stay inside and hibernate for months which also meant a million movies, snacks, takeout. These jellies were sent to me by Narrative PR & Call It Spring, I feel like a kid when I wear them. Especially with my backpack on. It’s a great feeling really 🙂 Our quick visit to the cottage yesterday was ok, the lake is still frozen and it’s still winter up there. The snowbank was too high to put the car in the driveway. The water is going to be so cold this year! Luckily I have my garden at our house in the city to work on before getting into full cottage mode. It’s much more fun up there when it’s warm! Thinking of my friends in Boston and everyone in the marathon today. Last year Sean and I were in Boston that weekend and downtown right were the bombings happened the day before. I knew a couple people running and it was pretty scary. I hope everything today goes fine ad everyone is safe. Thinking I’ll venture out into the sun over lunch, check out the hood. Not Quite Open Season | Cottage

I could tell from my Timehop app that the lake had no ice on this day last year, I was doing yoga on the dock and relaxing in the sun. We went up for a few hours on Sunday and it was still winter up there, frozen lake, snow covered driveway. The cottage was warmer inside than the air outside and it was warm enough in the sun for a spring jacket. Thanks to Sean, my lovely beau-tographer for snapping my photo. It’s great to have a TV/filmmaker boyfriend who knows how to work my camera better than me. I’m in love with this sweater from Community 54, it’s super comfy and I wore it almost the entire weekend (don’t judge!). I’d like to start making my own versions. My plan is to do some sewing at the cottage this summer. I know how to make things and use patters but I’m constantly letting TEH INTERNET distract me. Sewing and reading. Less internetting. Funny that I mention less internetting right now, today marks 9 years since this blog has existed. I better start planning my 10 year bloganza. <3 CASIE

Fresh Faced + Feeling Good | Dermalogica + Frank Love

Since I went for that Dermalogica facial at the start of April I’ve been using a new toner and moisturizer. It had been ages since I’d exfoliated and the this past winter made my skin extra dry. I purchased a new medium weight moisturizer after the facial and the cover tint (light foundation) I’ve been wearing lately has SPF 20. Thought I’d take a second to say my face feels SO GREAT. It’s never been so soft and I’ve been wearing less makeup. The facial I had a was a good scrub and polish designed just for my skin type. I want to stay looking young and fresh faced forever! I’ll Be in Balconia or Muskoka Till September, Ok?

Had a great weekend, hope you did too. Skipped home to visit Mum Friday and did some Saturday shopping. Was back home in the city before dinner that night. Sean and I had a great day on Sunday. Since we’ve been making an effort to eat healthier we’ve not been going out/drinking as much. It’s great! I did groceries on Sunday morning and were out of the house just after noon. Had a walk through Kensington market and ate at a delicious Mexican place on the south side of Roach-o-rama (sorry I don’t remember the name). Burrito was BURFECTION! I got a treat from the ice cream truck on the way out. This rainbow filter is called ‘Through Marino Wool Sweater’. Thanks Mum for that gift! I spent some time reading on the roof top patio ‘Balconia’ before zipping out to the new Target at the Stockyards to refurnish the place. I managed to give it a new look and feel with some pillows and accessories while Sean was napping. Target and I are becoming good friends. Sean is building a storage box to go under the table. Was my first time grilling cauliflower on the BBQ and WHOA it’s totally delicious. Used this recipe for grilled cauliflower skewers from Chatelaine and added some Diana sauce and garlic to the mix. Sean made burgers. I am so happy it’s SPRING FINALLY! I picked up these solar lanterns from Target and I’m kinda shocked at how surprised I was that they worked. Why did I think they wouldn’t work? I got three sizes and the biggest one was $22. They charge during the day and they you turn them on at night. Spring Is Here! | Ted Baker Prints, No Socks, Sunshine

Oooh that sunshine is NICE! I took one look outside today and knew it was the day to bust out these Ted Baker flower pants. I’m wearing my fav shoes from last summer, cutout brogues from Browns. They killed my feet last summer but I’m hoping they’ll be a-ok today! Weekend seemed to whiz by. We filmed for 10 hours on Saturday in Ajax for Cooking with Cuisinart. The next three episodes are done and you’re gonna like them. Totally different that that first pilot episode. Much better! Spent more of yesterday relaxing and then watched Saving Mr. Banks, GREAT MOVIE. Brought back so many memories of our Disney Vacay to California last summer. Disneyland really is the happiest place on earth! Today I’ve got a lunch date with Ainsley Kerr then the Lacoste Spring/Summer preview after work. Hope your day is off to a great start. We Made Chicken in a Steam Oven

I know I’m probably not top of mind when it come to culinary arts, however I do know my way around a kitchen. Recently I filmed our first episode of a 4 part cooking series with my blog friends Garret and Sasha. We used a Steam Oven to make a roasted chicken & warm bread arugula salad. The chicken we used was 1 and 1/2 pounds and only took 50 minutes to bake. Using a steam oven cuts your cook time to also 50% of what it would be in a traditional oven. The finished product was golden, crisp and extremely moist. I’d never made a warm bread salad before and you’ll see how we did it in the video. It was delicious! Swimming Pool, Sunshine’s Cool, Winter Drools

I was saying yesterday how I’m really looking forward to summer and sunshine and the cottage. I found myself looking through old photos of us last night, hanging out in Muskoka, relaxing with the calm sound of nature and the lake. I’m due for a vacation. Thailand was months ago and although it was a really good time, it was the opposite of relaxing! We were on a tight media schedule and it was rare to have a couple hours alone for naps or lazing on the beach. I just want to feel that sunshine. I want to feel warm. I’ve not taken off my scarf or hat since arriving at the office and there’s a space heater beside me. This is the longest winter in 25 years and we’ve had a record number of ‘cold weather alert’ days. I try my best to stay positive and not let the weather get me down but sheesh, this is the hardest it’s been. I know months down the road I’ll look back at this and think, if you could get through this you can get through anything. It’s snowing again… <3 CASIE

Take Me Back, Back to Cali

Sean and I went to California for a week this summer, and it was SO FUN. I love the sunshine, the shops, the lifestyle by the beach. We rented a convertible and drove the Pacific Coast Highway, ate good food, worked on our tans, and spent much time at Disneyland. This cold weather does not seem to be letting up for all of us in Canada so instead of being wah wah CRYING about it, I’ll relive our summer love in LaLa Land. We stayed at the Disneyland Resort, and thanks to Disneyland and their Canadian team for the invite. It was amazing to live like a kid and experience all the fun of the most magical place on earth. Antiquing in the Junction

This weekend I went to some of the antique shops at Dundas + Keele. If you are in the market for a typewriter, vintage jewellery, or furniture, this is the place for YOU. I moved to this area in the summer and I’ve finally started to explore it. There are heaps of neat little shops around here. One of the best shops is called ‘The Art of Demolotion’, heaps of neat things piled up in the tiny little store. I love going antique furniture shopping, it’s so exciting since you never know what you’re going to find! I’ve always loved antique furniture since I was a child. There’s something so special about buying an old piece of furniture. My friend recently moved house and decided to buy some antique furniture from somewhere like antiquesworld.co.uk. It looks fantastic in her house and I’m tempted to buy some for myself too!! Day was good. Started with brunch. Got my hair done. Went for a hot tub at my old place. Took my GoPro everywhere I went. Had sushi for dinner. Spending the rest of the night at home watching movies. Emily’s Ice Cream + Canon’s Blogtography Program

Last night I had dinner with the other 4 Canadian Canon Blogtography Ambassadors and some great people involved in the program from Edelman Toronto and Canon Canada. We arrived at The Drake Hotel not knowing what they had planned for us. Each of the Canon sessions we’ve attended over the past six months has had a different theme where we learned tips and tricks from professionals similar to what video production companies austin texas employ in their work to try with our cameras. Over the last six months I’ve really learned how to take photos. I mean, I’ve been using a camera as long as I can remember but snapping shots is different than knowing how to use a camera outside of the auto. I took that photo above. We were on the trolly in High Park this summer and Emily had just gotten this massive ice cream with sprinkles, it was hot and about to drip everywhere. I cropped it and used one of the filters in my Canon Rebel SL1 then sent it off to Canon as part of my 20 favorite photos. Last night they gave each of us one of our prints, blown up and in a frame. The image was printed using a Canon printer which, in true Oprah style, we each got one. (Imagine “You get a printer and you get a printer”, it was kinda like that.) We were all amazed by the high quality, shocked by the generosity, and extremely grateful. As you already know, Canon is very famous and has been loved by many people over the years. A Disposable Waterproof Camera is Always a Great Idea

It’s only been a couple weeks since we got back from our Disney + California trip. Sadly, the seasons are changing and Fall weather is on its way. I’m wearing layers and socks. We were all heading down to the pool on this day and I decided to pop into the hotel gift shop and see how much a disposable waterproof camera was. It was one of the best $20 I spent on the trip. It’s so rare to have actually printed photos anymore and these are just a few of the selections I’ll keep forever. We had SO much fun on this trip. I can’t help but start planning my next vacation. 2013 Chevy Camaro Convertable in California

We had so much fun cruising around in the 2013 Chevy Camaro Convertable in California. We randomly decided to get a rental once we got to the hotel and I’m so GLAD they had this. It was $25 more per day than a compact car from Hertz and so totally worth it! You deff need a car in LA. I can’t imagine being on vacation or living there without a car. I loved hitting the open road and driving to the beach, top down of course. I loved Venice Beach the most. It reminded me so much of where I lived in Bondi Beach in Australia. Did you know that the real Abbot Kinney was a tobacco millionaire who founded it in 1905? Oh the things you learn on Wikipedia.

Visit Greece at Trinity Taverna in the Beaches

Yesterday I travelled to Greece for lunch! Ok, well kinda. It was my first time at Trinity Traverna in the beaches and I went with w/ bunch of colleagues as a celebration. We sat down for a delicious, relaxing, lunch in the sun on their patio. Oh god, I love summer. Was quite impressed with how beautiful it is in there. It actually feels like you’re on vacation. Over the Rainbow & Over The Moon!

Oh hey, today I am wearing a Canadian tuxedo (summer style)! Tonight I’m heading to Over the Rainbow in Yorkville for a denim fitting. I’m also styling two mannequins for their September back to School COOL windows as a ‘Rainbow Insider’ style influencer. I’ll be posting a contest over the next week for a $100 gift certificate for the store and you can meet me at the Back to School event on Thursday, August 29th to pick it up. In other news, I’ve been selected by Toronto International Film Festival as 1 of 50 the city to partner with them for the festival in next month in two weeks.
