I found ten cents yesterday. This is my two cents.

I love Instagram. It made me think different. More creative. That’s why I like it. I found new, inspiring people and I like to see their photos. See how they look at life, through their lens, through a different filter.  I have been publishing for about a decade and have thousands of photos on the Internet. I’ve had my smile photo used in a Facebook ad (total surprise!), a photo of me as a bot (read that story here), and  TBH I don’t really mind if my fav bar wants to share my photos beside a Molson ad or on a billboard. A LOT of awesome things have happened from me sharing freely. If you want to own everything, write a blog. If you want to create, make great things and share them. I feel like Internet years are dog years. I’ve been meeting young bloggers more lately and I feel Internet old. I’m up for a Lifetime Achievement Award for christs sake! (Thanks for the Nom guys!) I’ve found myself saying “back in the old days of blogging/social/2.0 things were/it was like [ insert something with no rules, regs, or privacy concerns]. BTW, OOTD on that old Instagram of Queen West is Overgram single photo edit x4, with Diptic collage. It’s more about what you are doing than where you are sharing it. Ok bye. Have a great day.

Thomas Sabo – UK Trip Day 2 Photo Diary

Took it easy and got a good sleep on Day 1. Tuesday was a busy day one with the big launch event and I wanted to be well rested. Here’s a recap of the day, tour of my hotel suite, and my downtown shopping adventures. It was a blast to hand out with Truc from Flare Canada and Lindsay from Faulhaber Communications. We represented Canada well! Welcome to my room… This old bath was lovely and the bed was MASSIVE. So relaxing. Woke up to a delivery of Thomas Sabo goodies! Started the day with a tea. When in Rome!

Thomas Sabo – UK Trip Day 3 Photo Diary

My third day in London was very short. Most of it was spent in traffic and at the airport. Had a lovely English breakfast at the hotel before my driver arrived. Luckily, there was a bunch of empty seats on my flight to Montreal so I was able to take a whole row and sleep! I needed it! Soon as I arrived in Montreal I has to get to hotel and change for the Tia Maria Room event with Community. It was hectic but I loved every minute of it. Huge thank you again to Thomas Sabo and Faulhaber Communications for this adventure. It was inspiring and exciting. Check out the Thomas Sabo shop next time you are in Yorkville. My fav collections are Rebel at Heart and the new stuff for SS 2013!

You think YOU have #FirstWorldProblems? Think again.

We are all guilty of it, taking things for granted because of the amazing lives we have and forgetting that millions of people in the world have much less than we do. About a year ago, my Mum returned from a one year sailing expedition to the Bahamas. They spent and entire year living on the boat sailing to the Bahamas from Ontario and back. One of the things I remember Mum saying once she returned to work, despite missing her sailing life, was “But CASIE, we have FRESH RUNNING WATER!“. I always remind myself of that moment when I’m about to complain that my XBOX isn’t connecting to the TV, or my wifi going down, or a chipped nail, or my iPhone app crashing, or when they don’t have my fav soup at the coffee shop that day. These aren’t REAL problems! My friends at Me to We are all about living the change and making the world a better place. Craig Kielburger and his brother Marc has written a book called My Grandma Follows Me on Twitter: And Other First World Problems We’re Lucky to Have. Below are some of excerpts from the book: Me to We have an awesome collection of gifts for the holidays. Check out the Artisans collection for jewellery made by women in Africa. There’s a TON of stocking stuffers with IMPACT. Don’t just give meaningless gifts this season, give gifts that help spread positive messages. For You from Me to We I have a few books that I would love to put a note in and send to you for the holidays. Leave a comment with your worst FirstWorldProblems or Tweet me. I’ll pick winners by the end of the week so I can send them off to you in the mail. Tweet to @CasieStewart Happy Holidays from…

A Real Human Being

So, here’s the truth…I’m coming up on eight years of my blog in April. Eight is my fav number, lucky Chinese (I’m not Chinese), infinity symbol, I was born on the 8th of May. It was Mothers Day. My middle name is Diana, after The Princess. My Mum loved her. We have all the China (plates). Ok, here we go… My blog is only about 25% of my life if that. I don’t tell you most things that happen. I like privacy, although I am only learning what it means now. I’m extremely positive as a human, except for when I am sad. Which isn’t that often. But when I am, I am extremely lonely and like to be alone. Being popular or an ‘influencer’ doesn’t mean you have friends. Most days, I come home from the office and put on my LazyPants. $80 jogging pants, gifted, but available at Macy’s or Holt Renfrew. Baller, no. I go into my room, throw my 11″ Macbook, iPad, on the bed, take off my bra and throw on a t-shirt, then a scarf, and usually something on my head. I like my head covered, and my ears. I don’t know why I am telling you this, I’m mostly telling myself. I have been dealing with anxiety for a long time, I have never been to a doctor. I’m scared they either say “You are an absolute narcissistic nut, or you have a serious creative genius ability that transcends modern innovation. Ok, I’m being dramatic but I am not a ‘grey area’ person. We are getting into two paragraphs and most people will not be reading this. I need to write this down because I am TERRIFIED of losing my memory. I have had a few concussions, cheerleading fall, rollerblading accident, 12 feel…

Sometimes a dream looks like a meatpie, but it’s more than that.

There’s something to be said about following your dreams… I’ve always been a dreamer, always been a little ‘out there’. Someone with big ideas who looked at the world like I could go anywhere, achieve anything. To the moon Alice! The moon isn’t as far away as it used to be and it’s easier to get there if you know how. Today I had a dream. A small dream to some, but to me it was one I had been dreaming about for a long time. It was important to me. The small dream is part of a bigger dream. It’s all the small dreams along the way that helped the big dream come true. My dream was to have an English meat pie. It was part of the bigger dream of going to England that I have had since I was a teenager. [View the story “Meat Pie Dreams” on Storify] Meat Pie Dreams Storified by CASIE STEWART · Tue, Dec 04 2012 15:50:04 I walked a ways to get a meat pie cause the one location was sold out then when I got home realized it was a BUTTER TART. Love, Casie<3CASIE STEWART That’s the thing, you have to dream a little dream, and set goals, and work at them every singe day. Your thoughts become things and the more positive thoughts you throw at those things, the more real the dream becomes. Then, one day you’re sitting on a king size bed, draped in a white fluffy, hotel robe, in your deluxe suite at Le Meridian Picadilly in London, England, FINALLY eating that god damn English meat pie you have SO been dreaming about. It’s that very moment you smile…

Rockstars don’t call themselves a rockstars, but in this case Marketing did.

This article originally appeared in the Nov. 30 issue of Marketing as part of “Being Influential”. Casie Stewart has been many things. She’s worked as a consultant, brand ambassador, spokesperson, copywriter and community manager. Until this autumn, she juggled freelance work as each along with sponsorship deals with brands like Canadian Club, LG and Cadbury seeking mentions on her life blog and social streams. Then in September she made the jump into the agency world, accepting a position as director of social media at Community, a small Toronto-based agency that works on campaigns for clients like LiveNation, Heineken and Bacardi. Stewart says she’ll maintain her social presence (which includes 14,000+ followers on Twitter) despite her new nine-to-five and is participating in upcoming influencer programs by Ted Baker London and Telus. At Community, Stewart is using her personal network of influencers and experience as a blogger to inform client work. As a sought-after influencer, Stewart’s participated in dozens of social campaigns. These are four of the best. READ HERE.

Meet Albert. He’s tall, dark, and Made in Canada.

He’s a Knottycase for my iPhone, he came from California, and was made in Canada. He’s part of the Save the Redwoods League at savetheredwoods.org. He was born beside a rocky stream, in the mountains near California, as long as 500 years ago. Albert was a big strong redwood but unfortunately he had a bad winter fall. Luckily he was salvaged and has now found love, with me. When you purchase a Knottycase you are helping to plant trees and make the world a better place. My wooden iPhone case is the Oak on Black and available for $79.  Each case is one-of-a-kind, different grain lines give each it’s own look depending on the part of the tree the wood came from. I love it. Nice gift for the holidays. Go digital, save trees. 🙂 <3 CASIE

I’m kinda in love with you Brandy Melville.

Welcome to my new fav Queen West hot lil’ spot. Look at all those signs! Need the Queen West one for the office.  The shop is right in the heart of my neighbourhood at Queen/Spadina and completely filled with everything I enjoy wearing. This is the FIRST Brandy Melville store in Toronto (from LA). These are the things I got; skull scarf, girl tank, aztek change purse, John Galt flower print backpack. I am in LOVE LOVE with new backpack. I actually stalked it online for days, almost ordering, and today I GOT IT. That’s US, the big smoke! The Brandy shop is online at @brandymelvilleC and instagram at @brandymelvillecanada. I posted a few photos to each platform. I feel a shop and drop addiction coming on…drop all plans, shop for everything. Asked them about doing a holiday giveaway, so will keep you posted on that! If you stop by LMK in the comments what you get. I kinda want the whole store. Santa, can you hear MEEEEEEE! <3 CASIE

Dear Santa, I want an Octaspring Bed. <3 Casie

Last night on my way home from work I stopped by the Canadian launch of Dormeo Octospring beds at 477 Richmond. I’m not usually one to blog about beds and stuff but they were giving out massages, warm food, hot drinks, and it was en route to mi casa. I have NEVER had a pretend sleep in a bed that so comfortable. Lucky for me my lounging was all captured by the brands photographer. I tried Bacardi rum and hot apple cider for the first time and met the PR team. How did I not TRY THAT BEFORE?! So good. I’m a stickler for technology and these beds are made with innovative, plush Octospring memory foam. They have JUST launched in Canada and are available at Sleep Factory. I have never purchased a new bed for myself as an adult, and this is exactly what I would LOVE to have. They are so incredibly comfortable (said that twice because I mean it), I recommend you follow in my footsteps and take a nap at a store near you. I hope my home insurance covers this kind of furniture, my friend told me that websites similar to simplyinsurance.com (visit site) can provide some more insight into home insurance quotes with information on what is and isn’t covered in their policies. If my current provider doesn’t make the cut I might have to switch. I want this amazing bed to be totally covered so I can sleep soundly on it. Some photos from the event below. If they are giving away a bed in the near future, I will let you know! Follow them on Twitter at @OctaspringHQ. Thank you Octaspring for my giftbag, feelin’ the love! Santa, please add this to my list. 🙂

Goodby Dailybooth, I loved you for years.

Today Twitter announced they’ll be allowing us (users) to download our ENTIRE TWEET HISTORY before the New Year. For me, that’s almost 100,000 tweets! I’ve been publishing the Internet for almost a decade and it’s hard to imagine all the things I’ve posted. This month, Dailybooth, the OG photo sharing service that helped kick off this thing we call ‘social media’ announced they are shutting down. If you have photos on DB you can DL them until Dec. 31, 2012. After that, they’ll be gone. Dailybooth was THE original photo sharing service  when Twitter  came out.  I posted a photo of myself nearly every single day from January 2009-January 2012. The photo updated to the top right corner of my blog showing a new face each day. I hardly had any tattoos back then, nobody had a million followers, and ‘social media’ wasn’t a ‘thing’…yet. It was the experience I loved most about DB. Logging in and seeing familiar faces, comments, making friends.  I hung out w/ Zolloc (Hayden), my friend from Dailybooth for the first time IRL about a month ago. We’d known each other for years. He was visiting Toronto for Nuit Blanche so I showed him around my fav hood, Queen West and Trinity Bellwoods.  The community at Dailybooth was always so positive. This news made me sad. Why do I feel so romantic about a photo sharing service? I took all 756 photos, added music and made a massive vid with them all. The video is coming soon. It’s five minutes of Casie, five whole minutes. Observations? I make a lot of different faces, I wear a lot of hats (actual hats), I travel, I don’t get sick often, I smile most days, I like to have fun. It brought back so many memories. I forgot heaps of people, places, things,…

Sometimes I don’t feel like it. #7

Sometimes I wonder if anyone notices…and then I go to Twitter. 🙂 Have some giveaways coming up for holiday, an exciting announcement, and two upcoming trips. Pretty Princess Tam Tam & Leather Lover lunching…

Welcome to 50 Shades of HEYYYYYY! Bad joke, whatever. I got bored of the book and only made it half way. In other news, yesterday I peeped the 2013 leathers from Danier. I could use a new jacket, mine is ripped. There were some pretty lovely coloured leathers and a few bags I could have easy just walked out with. (I kid, I kid.) No really though. Love you leather long time. These are some of my favs! Upstairs was the preview of Princess Tam Tam 2013,  (who I was just introduced to) with adorable french llingere. “Princesse tam.tam, c’est une marque de femmes pour les femmes… Une saga unique, des produits et des couleurs étonnantes et détonantes.” Hello, I love you too. The styles are super cute, as the shapes and colours.  I’m crushing on the bright undergarments that would undoubtedly give you a bounce in your step (but not your bra!). Ha! Thanks Brill Communications for this lovely little camisole from Princess Tam Tam and vest from Danier. I’ve put a new leather on my holiday wish list and have my eyes on spring swimwear. I’m thinking these ones would be a good fit. Check these guys out on Facebook at Danier.com and PrincessTamTam.com. Only 20,000 days till summer! CASIE 🙂

Thank you Marketing Magazine for featuring me! Photo was shot by the wonderful Steve Carty. This was the line for my autograph… (OK IT WAS REALLY THE LUNCH LINE) Was happy to attend the Marketing Mag Social Media Conference on behalf of Community.  Caught an awesome talk by Lauren O about memes & webculture and heard Erin Bury speak about ‘what’s next’ for the web. Thanks Russ Martin for writing my feature and  to Grant LeRiche (TubeMogul) for my ticket (both below). Go pick up a copy if you are interested in the internet AT ALL. It’s full of great features about the web, bloggers, social media, and of course marketing! CASIE 🙂
