WMCFW: Here’s How I Prepped for A Busy Week!

I had a lovely and relaxing weekend. Went to Screemers on Friday night for a good scare and spent Saturday afternoon at Hammam Spa. I’ve gone there a few times lately as a way to treat myself to some relaxation. this time I went a little early to relax in the steam room before my full body mud wrap. My skin felt like silk after! Thank you Hammam Spa for this little gift bag! I had tweeted them the day before about the 20% Stylicity discount (available now!) and they left me some goodies. Oh how I love the Internet! This little pink makeup bag is from Ted Baker London and I keep it in my purse to freshen up my look since I often head to events right after work. In it are always a few of my fav things: Essence Nailpolish – dries fast! Essence mascara – not expensive but great volume Rescue Remedy – if you have anxiety, this stuff is for you! Elizabeth Grant blue stick for redness – this stuff is great! Burts Bees – staple! Elizabeth Grant dark circle concealer Dermologica Age Smart primer & tinted moisturizer – both with SPF Moroccanoil Moisturizer stays at home but it’s great and smells wonderful I recieved a few things in the mail this week to get me ready for Fashion Week. A new toothbrush from Phillips and a whitening pen. I take really good care of my teeth so these were a treat! In other news, I was in an electric toothbrush commercial when I was 16. It aired in the USA, the kind you’ll see many a Dentist in Manchester and other dentists and surgeries within the US of A fully endorse and say they can be the best for your oral hygiene. These D.…

Mastercard Stylicity Celebrates the Canadian Tuxedo at The Room

Fashion week events kicked off last night with Mastercard Stylicity at The Bay on Queen Street. The fashion community gathered for an exclusive event seeking to redefine the eye catching denim-on-denim Canadian Tuxedo. Special guests included The Coveteur’s Stephanie Mark and HBC Fashion Director Suzanne Timmins. I rolled up with Brock Mclaughlin and we were up to are usual shenanigans of course. I picked up these glasses from Top Shop. They reminded us of Andy Warhol. These book trees are beautiful. I wish I had room for one at the house. Thanks Mastercard Stylicity and The Bay for the gift card. We all got to pick a card from a magical bowl and although they each had  some value, there was only ONE with a huge payout. Mine was $10 which I appreciate! Blogger discount? No, JK.. It was an error but I had a LOL. Where do I order these socks or high heel feet? Um, hello! She looked Emo to me. Christoper (@turnstylin) introduced to me his friend with these AWESOME nails. Pose for the camera girl. Totally blending. New glasses and bird on a wire tights from Top Shop. The Ballet on Ossington w/ Ivana Santilli

Went to Ballet on Ossington for my first time Friday night. It was a blast! We popped bottles and danced the night away with Ivana Santilli. Who is awesome by the way! The Ballet is not ‘the ballet’ like the time I was in the Nutcracker with the National Ballet of Canada ballet, it’s just the the venue name. Me as a Canon Doll in the Nutcracker w/ the National Ballet of Canada It’s a sexy, fairly small, upstairs bar, with old school booths and often features burlesque dancers. Canon Photo Session with an Award Winning Photojournalist

Recently I had a session with a professional photographer as part of my Canon Blogtography Ambassador program. It was all five Canadian Canon Ambassadors in the beautiful Distillery District for dinner and working photo session. We were joined by  Steve Russell, a Toronto Star photojournalist who walked us through some tips to improve our photos. Over dinner, he shared stories of travel and celebrity encounters over the course of his career. Steve has not once, but twice won Photojournalist of the year! Canon Blogtography Photos by Casie Stewart I really love the Distillery District for it’s sheer beauty. It’s filled with heritage and  old buildings. I’m pretty creative, as you know but I’m trying to show that through my Canon photos.  I snapped pix of things I found interesting and tried to take a different perspective, focussing on little elements in the area. We were there during sunset ‘magic hour’, a great time to get outside and take photos. This man was sitting alone playing guitar, there was something magical about him. Steve helped us with how to set our camera to take photos of moving things in order to keep them crisp. I need more practice as you can see this lady on the bike is looking pretty fuzzy. Some Tips I Learned from A Professional Photojournalist There were lots of take-aways from our dinner and photo session but below are some of the things I learned from Steve.  How to hold your camera so you don’t look like a total noob – put the camera flat on your hand, don’t hold your pinky up like a dork, don’t be afraid to lean into the shot Rule of thirds – this is key to composing beautiful shots Squaring up your photos – match straight lines, think about composure Cropping your pictures –  you might…

‘David Bowie Is’ at AGO. I saw him!

Went on a private tour of ‘David Bowie Is’ at the AGO this morning with some Community colleagues. Later this week they start the Ago 1st Thursday events and our client Drambuie is a sponsor. The exhibit was so freaking cool. It’s matched up with Sennheiser Sound so that as you travel from room to room the audio is updated and talks you through the exhibit or plays a song to go with the art. It was pretty amazing, not gonna lie! It’s the first time I’ve experienced a 3D sound system quite like that. This part was super cook. The pano is a bit fuzzy but you can see me and my trench on both sides in the mirrors. I think this sign might have been my fav part, I love the sign.. Could really have stayed at the AGO all day… Saw my old Andy Warhol favs. I used to go to the AGO all the time! See all old posts tagged AGO here.  It pays to be a member! For $100 you can go anytime you want for a year and use the members lounge (it has wifi!). Hair is in a bun today 🙂 Forgot my damn sunnies and the sun just came out, urgh. I am back at my desk in my office with coffee, water, sunflowers, and work. Hope you are enjoying the day wherever you may be! <3 CASIE Buy Propecia Buy Sildenafil Buy Trazodone Buy Zithromax

Props to @KevinSpacey for this Inspiring Talk!

Last year I was offered a subscription to Netflix Canada. This was huge for me! Netflix saw I loved them and offered me a subscription in return for sharing what I watch on Facebook. This was a-ok for me. I watched the ENTIRE House of Cards (13, 1 hours eps) in one weekend. Some of my fav series are Orange is the New Black, United States of Tara, Archer, House of Cards, and all the TED videos. I  watch A LOT of movies. (Don’t judge me for watching Clueless often!) “If you’re watching a TV show on your iPad is it no longer a TV show?” Key Takeaways We can take a bite out of piracy The audience wants the control, if they want to binge we should let them We learned the lesson the music industry didn’t learn People are more likley to pay for it rather than steal it (most the time!) What defines a film? Is a TV show on an iPad no longer a TV show? The device and length are irrlevant For kids growing up now there is no difference, it’s all content, it’s just stories The audience has spoken, they want stories! This conference talk by Kevin Spacey (House of Cards) made me feel SO inspired about the future of internet, film, and television. On demand viewing is the FUTURE of TV. Remember last year when I said “INNOVATE OR DIE?”. Pay attention, you don’t want to be left behind people! <3 CASIE

A Disposable Waterproof Camera is Always a Great Idea

It’s only been a couple weeks since we got back from our Disney + California trip. Sadly, the seasons are changing and Fall weather is on its way. I’m wearing layers and socks. We were all heading down to the pool on this day and I decided to pop into the hotel gift shop and see how much a disposable waterproof camera was. It was one of the best $20 I spent on the trip. It’s so rare to have actually printed photos anymore and these are just a few of the selections I’ll keep forever. We had SO much fun on this trip. I can’t help but start planning my next vacation. This time, I’m looking for a digital detox, somewhere I can go surfing and shut out the world. Here’s to summer, best friends, and daydreaming of California sunshine. HTC One Guest Post by Vanessa Grillone

What do you value in life or in a job? What do you want for your future? What are your goals? I’ve been trying to answer these questions as clearly as I possibly can without being influenced by others. I’m finding it tougher to be authentic in my twenties, than I did when I was younger. Your mid-twenties come with a lot of second-guessing, a lot of doubt, and many many questions. With the constant use of social media comes the pressure to conform, which is why I follow blogs that feel authentic. Blogs that aren’t solely about every single product said blogger uses. Seeing them hang their individuality proudly makes me want to be authentic, online and in person and every other way possible. That’s a huge factor in my love for casiestewart.com. You can tell that Casie doesn’t blog for the sake of blogging, she writes about things she likes and ALWAYS aims to inspire her readers to have a better day, to have a more positive outlook on life, and to LOVE their lives. She has a style all her own and an authenticity about her that shines through the screen. I can’t tell you how amazing it is to be writing on THIS IS MY LIFE. This blog has inspired me in so many ways and has lifted my spirits on even my worst mornings. I’ve been lucky enough to meet Casie and was thrilled to see that her online personality is one in the same with the woman that stood before me. I always find it interesting to attend events, meeting your Internet friends in person is quite a nerve-wracking experience. Am I the same person that they interact with online? I get a little anxious when they ask what I’m into, what I’m doing…

2013 Chevy Camaro Convertable in California

We had so much fun cruising around in the 2013 Chevy Camaro Convertable in California. We randomly decided to get a rental once we got to the hotel and I’m so GLAD they had this. It was $25 more per day than a compact car  from Hertz and so totally worth it! You deff need a car in LA. I can’t imagine being on vacation or living there without a car. I loved hitting the open road and driving to the beach, top down of course. I loved Venice Beach the most. It reminded me so much of where I lived in Bondi Beach in Australia. Did you know that the real Abbot Kinney was a tobacco millionaire who founded it in 1905? Oh the things you learn on Wikipedia.

FASHION Magazine feature: Social Media Star

Yesterday FASHION Magazine published an interview they did with me this week. It’s the first in their new series on stylish movers and shakers leading the pack in the world of social media. It can be really challenging to make a splash in the world of social media. One of the hardest hunting grounds is definitely instagram. Although an instagram like bot can help you massively in this department. In fact, some bots are able to help you increase the number of followers you have too. This is definitely something you might want to consider learning more about. Thanks Renee Tse for the kind words. If you read it, leave a comment on the post! From Twitter to #TIFF, @casiestewart shares the the secrets to her social media success: http://t.co/s45xPvoONq — FASHION Magazine (@FashionCanada) August 23, 2013 Below is their kind intro. Click to read the interview! While social media may be just a hobby for some of us, Casie Stewart’s life is all about digital platforms. As the social media director of Community Agency (a circle of artsy and techy people) and a dedicated blogger since 2005, it’s pretty accurate to say social media has taken over Stewart’s life. From documenting her every movement on her blog to conversing with her 15,000+ ‘Tweeters’, she has built relationships across the world via social media. But out of every social media platform she’s on, Twitter is by far her favourite. Thanks to Twitter, Stewart’s living a whirlwind life she never dreamed possible. She’s partnered with companies like Virgin America, Ted Baker London, Thomas Sabo and Telus (just to name a few) and is currently the host of Coral TV, a platform for ladies who are interested in everything about the internet. In other news, I’ve been selected by Toronto International Film Festival as 1 of 50 the city to partner with them for the festival in next month in two weeks. I’ll be first with the scoop on all things TIFF. So, in other words, stay tuned right here for constant updates on all things awesome. Invites are starting to roll out for lounges, events, and after parties.  Doing a little  press for the documentary I am in the premieres September 14th too. SO EXCITING EVERYTHING, OMG. Tonight after my shoot and styling at Over the Rainbow I’m zipping to the Thompson Roof for a Molson event then home to pack. We are off to LA at 10:30am tomorrow. No work, all fun in the sun with my BF and best friends. I am dyyyyying of excitement. Make sure you are following me on Twitter, Instagram, Tumblr, and Pinterest.
