you’ve got a smile that could light up this whole town

So like, do you wanna be in my band? It’s called The Best Bandever and it’s starring me. I’ve written enough tracks to put out a double album. I sing too. You must be really fun and like to hang out in parks and play in the sun. Taylor Swift by Annie Leibovitz in the May issue of Vogue. Same concept. I look like Mum here. Love you. Did ya see this stud on Mashable today? Oh yeah, Bretten MacLean (@etothez) chatting about his TweetAgora at the Chirp conference for Twitter developers.

people, anxiety….glasses on, breate, smile go .

My taxi cab smells like a skunk, or really stank weed t I think is skunk. Dear god, do not let me step out of this cab smelling like it, I’m on my way to LG Fashion Week . Yesterday I was more into it, now it feels like work. I AM actually working, that’s probably why. But, honestly… I wanna stay there all day and be tired of sooooo many fashion shows. I always wanted that. I’m wearing hot pink tights and jazz shoes aka saddle shoes. We’re here. Oh god, here we go again.

it’s more fun to see you smile

Welcome to a brand new day. What’s new? everything. Exciting times ahead in the world, in my world and probably yours too if you think about it. I’m getting a new tattoo tonight. I’m going to fashion week everyday for the rest of the week. It’s a short week! Testing out two new-ish social media tools for blog & work  SocialTalk and Keen Kong; one if for publishing and the other for engagement & listening. This stuff makes me happy. I could barely sleep last night. I’ve got heaps to do but I figure as long as I keep working hard everyday it will all get done. I always wanted to grow up and be the girl who works at MuchMusic and even works on evenings and weekends because she has an agent and her own business and cool friends who are smart and do the same kinda things and lives cool condo downtown Toronto by the water. This is my life and it’s got it’s ups and downs but I choose to make it as exciting as I possibly can. I hope you do too. Damn rainy AGAIN today so I wore bright garden legs!  Kick kick that gloom right outta’ sight. Have a wonderful day and thank you for reading my blog. I love you.

you look prettier when you smile sunshine

Whining. Complaining. Just wah-wah-ing ALL over the place. Maybe you have friend like that or possibly someone at work who just likes to shit on everything? They should be called Lady Wah-Wah. My Dad says “cryning” that’s a worse form of crying and whining mixed. Ew. Sure way to make a pretty girl ugly. Why do people do that? I do not understand. I like to check trending topics around the world for things that stand out. In Sao Paulo, I found Laura Fontana. She is 8 years old wants to be Lady Gaga when she grows up.  Starts at about 00:50 starting with Bad Romance, then Paparazzi. Kinda weird but whatever. I was dancing on stage wearing makeup when I was 5 and I always wanted to be like that. Way to go little one! New show aired on MuchMusic last night all videos at 11 weeknights, music videos. Avril’s voice in the new Alice once is like yelling. I do not like it.The kaleidoscope for girls and autotune for boys are a big it it seems. Love the paint throwing in Hedley’s video. I want that.

leather latex cotton rubber nylon fur & a smile

Oh hey there blog,  Happy Wednesday! Feeling good.  Had a great sleep. Didn’t have clothes so made an outfit of his shirt and a little latex belt with my tights and wellies. Yeah, stylish improvisation I tell ya. All I need is my shirt to have some PVC trim and I’m set with all the kinky fabrics! Ha. One of my Tweets from @mtvcanada making fun of Norway made the Toronto Sun today. Tee hee. We totally spanked them last night in the hockey. Have a little chitty chat with someone from the Metro today, you’ll read about it soon enough. Last night I got my leather outfit for Northbound’s 20th Anniversary party on Sat. So excited. Gonna do some serious blogging this weekend. Last weekend I was so exhausted all I wanted to do was sleep, so I did. Might hit up podCamp too. Ah, there’s always something to do. The now was pretty this morning but I’m really looking forward to Summer. Saw these guys on my way in … haha

you captcha my interest, you make me smile

We all come across them. I used to write them down and make poems with the mismatched words. I wish I cold find that notebook. I take screen shots now. I started looking at some today, favorites were: have gayness, no dick, prostitution harmony.  I was working pants -free in a  cardigan singing away to Selah Sue and I got this captcha. Love it. It’s like the computer/internet are connecting to you on a different level sometimes. Deep thoughts in nerdism. What are some of your fav’s? Do you keep them too?

weather report: minus smiles across the city & negative winds

I went for a walk today at lunch. I was wearing my earphones even though my ipod battery was dead. Hold your thoughts. They keep your ears warm and I also have a strange pastime of eavesdropping on other peoples conversations. Yes, it is true. It’s more fun on the subway then walking, but whatever. Anyhow, what I did overhear was all kinds of people ‘cryning’ as my Dad calls it (crying/whining) about the weather. We are going to have damn cold days coming, so what, deal with it, stay inside, hibernate, read books, learn something. I love summer, I do not like being cold, however I do really, really not like complaining. It is not good energy for yourself OR anyone around you. Whether you mean for them to hear you or not.I got back to the office and thought, I need to ditch this bad attitude. I dove into my work and managed to knock off a few hours. Then the sun came out and I was smiling again. ♥

Self-Care: Cold Plunge, Meditation, Sunshine, Mani

This is me right before spending a good 2.5 minutes in Lake Ontario in the middle of winter, on a windy -11 day. Sean and I joined Meghan Yuri Young & Chloe Wild for a cold plunge hosted by Soho House Toronto. It was, as you would expect, cold, but fun. I had a full day of self-care and it was lovely. Sean dropped me off at the 1 Hotel (the old Thompson!) as I was attending a workshop hosted by NüLove featuring my friend, Coach Carey. The best thing happened, walked into the lobby and looked over to see Lisa Sonshine, who was also attending! Both Lisa & Coach Carey have been guests on our Cast of Creators podcast watch or listen to all our eps here. The workshop was so good, we meditated, had a healthy lunch, got inspired, and wrote letters to our future selves. 1 Hotel is going to mail the letters to us in a couple of weeks. I really love this idea and might send my future self a few letters this year. My wonderful day of self-care continued with a walk down Queen Street in the sunshine, popping into shops. My friend Angela has just re-opened her new shop in her old shop’s old location. Check out aka The Store on IG or in person at 662 Queen. There are so many cute things, clothes, shoes, jewelry, glitz, and glam! My final stop (before spending a quiet night at home) was a bright mani with my girl Amanda. Her manicures last WEEKS and I love how she’s helped my nails grow longer & stronger than ever. If you’re looking for a great gel mani, book an appt here. (I realized after that these colors are a little Mcdonald’s but IDGAF, I like it.)…

A Break From All The Hustle and Bustle

Took the train to Kitchener recently to spend a weekend with dad & family. Was nice to take a break from the hustle and bustle of the city, have a nice slow weekend. I didn’t realize I could catch a train to KW from the Bloor Up station right near our house. It was a nice ride! Up until about a week before I don’t think I’d taken the Go Train, ever! The train goes out near the airport, past Brampton, Guelph, and into downtown Kitchener. I had a window seat and watched the sun go down the whole ride. Dad and I got up early on Saturday and went to St. Jacobs Market. I hadn’t been there in a *very* long time, it was just as I remembered it (even though dad said it’s changed a lot). Took a nap on Saturday afternoon and noticed this cutie grabbing a snack outside the window. I watched quietly and admired her beauty. Went for a 7km walk w/ dad on Sunday morning, it was perfect. The greatest gift is spending time together hanging out. It was quite cold but energizing. We looked at houses in the neighborhood, walked through a park beside the grand river, and tackled a few hills.

She Does The City: Taking The Plunge

Over the holidays I was interviewed by Jen McNeely, founder of She Does The City about cold water therapy. If you’ve been here a while, or follow me on Instagram, you’ll know I’ve been dipping myself into cold water for the last couple of years. It started at the cottage just before the pandemic and when we lived up there in 2020, I really got into it. Check out my interview here.  I’ve got my galvanized stock tank set up on the roof at home and go in it 3-4 times a week, usually after my run and before a shower. I need to get some new lights set up for night dips. If you’re interested in taking a guided dip, check out Unbounded Well or Othership. See my past posts on cold water therapy here. Use this link for a $10 credit at Unbounded in the Stackt Market. Their outdoor experience has cold plunge wells, Scandinavian saunas, a geodesic breathwork studio, and bonfire lounges. It’s great! I’ll be there in the evening on January 18th if you want to join. 😁

Press the Pause Button

I heard this quote in today’s ‘Daily Calm’ in the Calm app and it stuck with me. I got out of bed went right to my computer looked it up, found the author, and got his book on Audible. Finished my latest read yesterday and wasn’t sure what to read next but usually, when I least expect it, something happens to inspire my next read or listen. “When you press the pause button on a machine, it stops. But when you press the pause button on human beings they start,” argues my friend and teacher Dov Seidman, CEO of LRN, which advises global businesses on ethics and leadership. “You start to reflect, you start to rethink your assumptions, you start to reimagine what is possible and, most importantly, you start to reconnect with” ― Thomas L. Friedman, Thank You for Being Late: An Optimist’s Guide to Thriving in the Age of Accelerations I’ve been working on more of a slow-living type of life and honestly, it’s bringing me so much joy. Exercise, more sleep, good food, less drinking, and lots of time with my thoughts. Slow living means going through your life in a more thoughtful, meaningful way. Before the pandemic, I was always on the go, for like, my entire life. That 2-year pause we all went through + living up north in the woods, taught me so much about myself. I am resilient, creative, and determined. I’m thankful for each day and there is so much happiness to be found in what you already have, who you are, and the people around you. In other news, today I signed up for a course starting in January that I am so excited about. I’ll share what it is soon. If you can guess I’ll give you a prize. Until…

DAY 568: Party in the Neighbourhood

It’s been ages since I went out and tonight I went to a party in the neighbourhood. It was fun! A bunch of us got together at April’s then took an Uber over to Geary Ave. Ran into a bunch of people I hadn’t seen in ages. I’m still a little weird about going out but it’s really nice to see people and laugh together. Most of the night was outdoors which was good, hoping these warm temps hang on a few more weeks.
