Today Sean and I travelled to Calgary. ✈️🇨🇦👍🏼  It’s been two years since I was in this fine city and I’m happy to be back.    This week we’ve got a fun itinerary of arts & culture activities in Calgary. We’re shooting them all with Tourism Calgary and the video will be on their website once finished.     Got a nice new mani and passport yesterday. We have 10 year passports in Canada now but I only renewed mine for 5 years so I can get a new photo! I know mum will have a chuckle reading this. 😉    One of my fav travel accessories, cosmetics bag by Ted Baker.     Why does this July cover say Bruce?? Been loving this little shoes sent to me by Toms. The Huarache sandal is made in Mexico and comes in dove (off white) leather and black. They’re really comfortable. Pretty sure I had a similar pair as a kid.    I love traveling together. 💛  We’re staying at Hotel Arts, a boutique hotel downtown Calgary. I stayed here about 2 years ago and since, they’ve put $7 million into renovations. We’ve got a beautiful suite with kitchen, balcony, living room, and 2 closets so we can have one each.       Looking forward to a few days of fun activities. Ever wondered about someone’s tattoos but never asked? To be honest, I don’t really like explaining them to people I don’t know. It’s personal, I’m usually asked in a crowded place, and it takes a while because I have heaps. Some have number significance, dates, travel, family, and there’s a couple I got for fun. Pizza anyone? I’ve partnered with Vintage Ink Wines to share my tattoo stories and introduce a contest for a new wine label design based on tattoos submitted by people like us. The tatted! Tattoo Tales: Stories Behind My Tattoos I got my first tattoo in Australia, the southern cross constellation between my shoulderblades. It was about 4pm and we were driving from from Bronte to Bondi beach with no plans so, my friend Cameron and I decided randomly to get tattooed. We both didn’t have any until that day! My next tattoo was 2 lines on my right hand ring finger, one blue one orange. The idea is derived from a personality test called True Colours. It used to be used in workplaces to break people into groups and pair them together based on personality for group cohesiveness. It was prevalent in my studies and I learned that in order to be my most successful self, a 50/50 mix between my true colours was ideal.  Orange – outgoing, vibrant, strong vs. Blue, analytical, organized, list maker. I still find this tattoo a helpful reminder.  Note, tattoos on the hands fade faster than any others. I’ve had it redone about 3 times in 10 years. I got this owl about 2 years ago. It’s on my right arm, like most of mine because I drew them all on with marker first. I’m left handed. I found this design in a Google search and customized it to change the watch face…

This weekend I went to Woodbine Racetrack for Woodbine Oaks, the first leg in Canada’s Triple Tiara of Racing, the prep race for The Queen’s Plate. I’ve been to the Queen’s Plate a few times and this summer I’m excited to partner with Woodbine Racetrack for the ENTIRE race season. I’ll be attending major races from from now till November. Better get some new hats! Since I’ll be at the races a fair bit, I decided to get a lesson in exactly HOW to bet and the fine details about horse racing. Some people pick based on names and numbers, which is ok (and what I had done previously). In my session learned about the odds, how they change, and Win-Place-Show. Picking a horse to win with 20-1 odds can really work in your favor! Grandad would be proud. One of my fondest memories was going for a surf at Bronte in Sydney’s north beaches then rushing home to get ready for race day. Threw a friends dress on with my ocean tossed beach hair, grabbed a hat, and I was off to the races.  We had such a fun day. Paris Hilton was there too. This weekend I bet on a couple races and even won a few $$ back. It’s so exciting when the race starts and you see your horse leading the pack. Everyone is standing up and yelling, it’s exhilarating! I took part in a Telus Day of Giving Event with #TeamTelus crew for Make-A-Wish® Rope for Hope. We rappelled down Toronto City Hall!   I’ve done some rock climbing and adventure things like The Edgewalk, zipline, and sky diving but this was FULL ON. AND DOWNTOWN TORONTO! All money raised by Make-A-Wish® Rope for Hope rappellers goes to granting the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions.   It was really fun. I’m not really one for team sports but I love adventure things like this! It was a litte scary going over the edge but once I started going down it was easy. As you may know from the news, there’s lots of talk about Uber around the world and especially in Toronto. Last week I went to the rally at city hall with my friend to show support for Uber & UberX (non-taxi people doing pickups) with heaps of other riders and drivers.   Yesterday I took a record (for me), 5 UberX cars in one day. Home to 1188 Office 1188 to The Brewers Plate Brewers Plate to Netflix Thowback Party Netflix to Army of Sass dance rehearsal Rehearsal to Home When I ran to dance class from the 4th car I left my wallet in the car. I didn’t realize till after dance. This was after frantically tearing my bag apart and scouring the studio. I sent a DM (private message on Twitter) to @UberCanada and asked if they could help.  It was 10:36pm.    By 10:42, my wallet was found and Uber Canada text me a contact number for my UberX driver who had my little wallet.  I rung him and arranged it to be dropped off at my HOUSE. THIS WOULD NEVER HAVE HAPPENED IN ANOTHER TAXI. Have you ever left something in a taxi? It’s basically a lost cause. I lost a wallet and an iPhone last year and there was no way to track down the driver or car.  With Uber, my stuff was safe and sound with the driver and back to within an hour of realizing it was missing. There’s a bunch of things I really love about Uber (especially UberX) and it’s that drivers are never on the phone, cars are clean, and they’re generally really nice. Hi hi, yesterday was a great day. When I was young we used to go camping every summer near Orangeville. All the Kiwis and Aussies my parents knew got together for the Down Under Summer Games where we had a traditional Maori Hāngi, gumboot toss, and my sister and I performed with the Maori Culture Club. It was so much fun! My Grandpa Doug converted a school bus into a camper with kitchen and we drove that up a few times singing oldies the whole way. When I was growing up I remember a girl from my modelling school who was really beautiful and she had two different coloured eyes. I always thought it was so cool. Having two different eye colours is a genetic mutation (a beautiful one) called Heterochromia (Greek: heteros ‘different’ + chroma ‘color’[1]). It’s a result of the relative excess or lack of melanin (a pigment). I kinda always wanted to have one blue and one brown so I made it happen. Took a pair of Blue and one pair of and Brown Air Optix Color contacts and popped one in each eye. As soon as I tried them on I had to do a double-take. I looked so different! I wonder if anyone would notice? Do you know anyone with different coloured eyes? It can be caused by all kinds of things and there are a ton of variations on Wikipedia. In interesting news, there’s a whole bunch of celebrities with different coloured eyes. I never noticed Kate Bosworth. Whoa! You can see here how different the blue colour is from my natural hazel eyes. Left the house today all like WHAAAAAAAAAAT IS THIS COLDDDDD? Grabbed a fur from the closet and shut the door. Can’t even believe it snowed yesterday. One of the only good things about winter is you can throw on a huge jacket like this (from LeChateau) with a pair of sunnies (YSL/Smart Buy Glasses) and you look like a cool old granny. The rings help! They’re part of that haul from the Shop for Jayu SS15 look book shoot. Today I was interviewed for tonight’s Global National news about YouTube’s 10th birthday. I didn’t really know that YouTube and my blog are the same age.  THREE CHEERS FOR INTERNET OGs. Mike Drolet and I chatted about how YouTube has changed the world, jobs, trolls, and more. Tune in tonight at 6:30pm for the full interview. I’ll post a link to it here tomorrow once it’s live. I rung mum to tell her I was gonna be on TV and said, “that’s why I always have my nails done, never know when tv will be calling!”. Ha. I kill me.  I would like to do more tv. I love the lights and being on camera. When I was done I came downstairs and Sean and the 1188 boys had picked up lunch from The Chickery (David Adjey’s place).  IT WAS SO GOOD. I arrived in Detroit nice and early for a quick media trip about how Ford is making their business green. I’ve been on a few media trips with Ford Canada to Dearborn, Michigan and absolutely love working with them. They always cover every single little detail so I was kinda excited to see what we’d be getting up to. The Marriott I stayed at was quite lovely and I was really into the rugs/floors. Look at this place! Regal!    This happens all the time. Remember how excited I was that for ONE TIME Starbucks got it right the other day? THE STRUGGLE IS REAL GUYS.  My driver was really nice though. Kicking myself for not trying to see if this bad boy worked. Do you think it did? It would have a made a good Snapchat regardless. Got a warm welcome and my itinerary before heading to my room for a refresh. I was lucky enough to catch 30 min of Young & The Restless before lunch.  The two Jacks thing is weird. Had to stroll past these beautiful trees before getting to my room and my god did they ever smell amazing. It was SOOOOO windy though. That probably helped with me being able to smell them but I really didn’t mind. Impressed with how Ford integrates innovation to every element of their business. Their commitment to sustainability was the foundation of everything we learned. Carol Kordich spoke about spearheading the adoption of aggressive Ford guidelines for using recycled content in car fabric. I loved her energy and passion for this stuff. It’s wonderful to see someone who really loves their job. They’re the FIRST automaker to use REPREVE brand yarn in seat fabric and plastic bottles in fabric. The REPRIVE microfibre was insanely soft. It would be neat to see clothes made out of these fabrics.…
