Join me for dinner tomorrow night? @Summerworks Soireé!

Next month from August 9-19th is SummerWorks Festival which features Canadian music including Buck 65 & Hawksley Workman and an array of performances picked by a jury.  I’ll be blogging a bunch of festival things, doing some interviews, and attending all kinds of stuff. Did you know what I love theatre. I was in the Sears Festival, played a hot box girl in Guys & Dolls, and did a few plays in high school. I love the stage, what can I say? Tomorrow night is the Summer Soireé and I would love to see you there.  Dinner is hosted by award-winning playwright and actor, Michael Healey and takes place at the Great Hall. Purchase a ticket here. It’s an elegant three-course meal prepared by chefs Mark Cutrara + Alexandra Feswick (who are on the cusp of opening their new Samuel J Moore Restaurant on the main floor of the Great Hall). Apps and cocktails will be served at 6:00pm and the meal at 7:00. Semi-formal attire. Let me know if you’ll be there. Love to see some familiar faces & meet some new ones 🙂  Follow @summerworks   * Photos shot with my brand new Olympus PEN Mini E-PM1 that arrived Monday! Weeeeee!

SUMMER: @PepsiCanada taste challenge, #freebeer, patios!

This is the big rig that will be travelling across the country seeing millions of people go through the Ultimate Pepsi Taste Challenge. It converts from a truck to a full on Pepsi station to hang out in. They call it “Poptimus Prime“. This time last year I was hosting my own little Pepsi party for Pepsi Throwback. I’m sure you remember THIS: The team has a whole bunch of stuff planned and there’s a good chance you’ll run into their young energetic group assembled with people from across Canada. This is a full 360 of what I saw at the media preview taken from iPhone. You’ll notice they’re really using technology to make the ol’ taste test we knew as kid, super modern. Check out their Facebook/PepsiCanada for when & when to catch ‘Poptimus Prime’ and the @PepsiCanada team. MAY THE ODDS BE EVER IN YOUR FAVOR! Hey look, Shannon was on the board as I was AT the challenge! TALK ABOUT SOCIAL! In the afternoon I caught the Bud Light Mojito truck giving out free beers. Rumour has it they will be around MuchMusic all month and near King Spadina. Two drinks, perfect for afternoon stop in the park. When you are on the go 25/8/366 you are likely to run out of iPhone battery. Bobcat from Boston sent me this rad charger for my birthday. Charge at home, keep in purse for on the go. It gives you about two hours talk time. Essential for beach party, park chilling and boat rides. Made by Brookstone. Next stop was William’s Landing in Liberty Village for the launch of Somersby Cider by Carlsberg. This is the Carlsberg man John Porter. Cute accent! Sat in the sun with the lovely Carla Catherwood and Cory Lee. I’m not much of a cider girl but surprisingly, it…

Style Picks for Summer Sunnies – Sixties Summer Love

Was at the beach this weekend soaking up sunshine and taking in the breeze from the lake . I’m so ready for summer to get here.  Sunnies are the best accessory a girl can have, after sunscreen. I recently picked out three styles that I totally love: cat eye, high fashion, and vintage feel. They were gifts, thanks Lumette and Clearly Contacts.   Took these photos yesterday, enjoy! Derek Cardigan Sun 7005 – Brown Tortoiseshell – $59.00 Cat eye is so hot right now. I love pin-up girl style, they remind me of the 60’s. A fav style of Nicole Richie and designs by Tom Ford. These ones are designed by Derek Cardigan from Vancouver, I interviewed him a couple weeks ago. Lumette, Vedrina – Storm Cloud – $220.00 Based in NY, Lumete is a fav of  Dita Von Teese. Sunglasses are handmade and the lenses are hard coated CR39 to avoid scratches. The hard clutch case is shaped like a butterfly.  These ones are so beautiful & stylish. Perry Ellis Demi Blonde – $135.00  These ones remind me of a vintage pair of Ferrari glasses I had years ago.  They’re a  an aviator shape with greenish grey lenses. Frame is  tortoise acetate and matte gold metal. Top – Audrey from Bicyclette, Jeans – Cheap Monday from Peacock Parade, Converse ‘Dainty’ in Banana ♥ Make love, not war ♥

sometimes informally considered as marking the beginning of the summer season in Canada

The weekend has been so nice, I don’t even mind if it rains today. Actually, I like it. I’ve got lots to get done, report, expenses etc. Off to a Jukari class at King West Fitness now. Might cruize somewhere after and car office with my computer and rocketstick. I’d like to take a second to say thanks to the following awesome companies for being part of this weekend & my life (blog).

first boat ride of the summer!

Well helloooooooooooo dah’ling, welcome. This is the boat I went on, Capt. Matthew Flinders. He’s Australian & kinda special. Captain Matthew Flinders RN (16 March 1774 – 19 July 1814) was one of the most successful navigators and cartographers of his age. In a career that spanned just over twenty years, he sailed with Captain William Bligh, circumnavigated Australia and encouraged the use of that name for the continent, which had previously been known as New Holland. [wiki] I’M KING QUEEN OF THE WORLD CITY. I kid I kid, this will never stop being funny to me. I don’t even give a care what you think about it either. Ahoy, matey! Eat her dress, do it. So pretty in the sunshine she was. Who thinks we should have a party here? Say ‘ai ai’ & raise yo hand. Gamble? Mariposa Cruises went all out for this mixer. Loved it. Didn’t have any of these. This yes. And a whole lotta this. Then we met Mysterion. I wrote down a word on this paper and he had his eyes closed then HE GUESSED IT. I know, awesome & Casie go together but he didn’t even KNOW ME. Then we had round two and I drew cherries, folded it up and put it in his hand and HE DREW THE SAME THING. Fahhhh, this guy is good man. Keri drew a server and he drew a set of drawers (obvs he didn’t think of server) but STILL. Holy kaw. Our city is so beautiful. View from the water/island is dreamy. Mr. Mariposa, Jason Lambert. New BFF! HI JASON! Hey Bloggeratti! Social(ites). Few beers deep by this time. Then I are some meat. With my hands. BARBARIAN. You bet your ass I filled my purse w/ candy. Jason encouraged me, he didn’t know…

schools out for summer

Look who’s a Degrassi student today! I was running into a meeting earlier today and my boss asked if my shirt was new and if I was going to the big meeting this afternoon. “No” I said, “oh, it’s a DEGRASSI meeting” he replied.  I look like SUCH a keener and I love it. Abby gave it to me last night as a thank you for inviting her to my Hills party.  She works with the show which is awesome cause it’s gonna be airing on MuchMusic. BTW if you ever wanna come watch The Hills with me at MTV, just ask! I’ll be hanging out there on Tuesday nights. Remember last week when I filmed with My City Lives, the vids are aliiiiiive! There’s a few more here if you wanna watch ’em. Ok, bye for now. This fancy pose is called html ex.  < degrassi >. My sis is with my cousin right now and we’re going to the Jays game tonight. I’m excited. They’re playing Boston and I’m gonna wear my Red Sox hat just for fun.

there’s gold in the air of summer

I went to grab a coffee this afternoon and it was so cold and windy. I hate that. However, I did meet someone cool while I was at the coffee shop. His name is Jeff Adams. You may know of him? He is a two-time Olympian, four-time Paralympian, six-time World Champion, and former World Record Holder in the 1500 m men’s wheelchair event. His 800 m gold in Sydney was a record-breaker. He is co-founder of Marvel Wheelchairs and his workshop is right near my office. He invited my to check out the shop and I would really love that!

on the burts bus, summer bees

Not too long ago I received a gift package from Burt’s Bees that contained a bunch of products to try out. I put aside my Aveeno the past two weeks and I’ve been using Burt’sBees Naturally Nourishing Milk & Shea butter Body Wash. I like it because it’s 98.5% all natural and not tested on animals. It is really soft on your skin and doesn’t leave it dry. I would have liked if it was a little more foamy for the loofah but that aside, I really like it. It makes my skin feel lovely like on summer days. The sun is shining bright today and it makes me happy. P.S. Anyone up for swimming pools?

Lavender Blu: Very Demure, Very Mindful

In a mattter of days this phrase has taken over the internet. Brat Summer is over, we’ve moved on to Demure Girl Summer. It seemed like the perfect title for a post where I visit a Lavender Farm in the country. On my recent day trip to Durham Region, we stopped at Lavender Blu Farm, a small eco-family farm that’s been making artisanal lavender products since 2007. This quaint farm is located in Seagrave, Ontario, along the Sideroads of Scugog. Their mission is all about cultivating calm, something I can totally vibe with. The farm offers a variety of events throughout the summer including yoga, painting, and lavender picking. It can also be booked as a wedding or event venue. I would love to do yoga there! I loved learning about places to visit in the Durham Region, I had no idea there were so many farms an hour away from Toronto. The area is full of great places to check out including markets, pubs, museums, and galleries, see a full list at sideroadsofscugog.ca. The studio has lavender hanging from the ceiling and features over 80 lavender-inspired products. You will feel calm the moment you walk through the doors. The whole atmosphere of the farm is relaxing. Here’s to living a calm life! P.S. If the title of this post makes absolutely no sense to you, read this and watch this. It’s a TikTok thing and it’s taking over!

Take a Visit to The Sunflower Farm!

This week I visited The Sunflower Farm on the edge of Lake Simcoe along the backroads of Brock, Ontario. If you’ve been looking for a great summer adventure with family or friends, get to Durham ASAP. The sunflowers are only in bloom for 2 weeks! Durham Region is about an hour from Toronto and is made up of eight cities and towns; Pickering, Ajax, Whitby, Oshawa, Clarington, Uxbridge, Scugog, and Brock. On my adventure with the Toronto Blogger Collective and Durham Tourism, we visited four of their scenic rural routes, A Country Path, the Leaksdale Loop, Backroad of Brock, and the Sideroads of Scugog. I will share more about each route in my upcoming posts! I truly loved visiting The Sunflower Farm! We got to meet Ursala, the farmer of this multigenerational family farm and she introduced us to the animals including the cutest little goat named Feta. The farm has thousands of sunflowers, a sunflower-shaped trail, and plenty of great spots for taking photos. You can also purchase merch or sunflowers to bring home. Planning Your Visit to The Sunflower Farm Something that made the day really special was travelling around the area with Town Trolley Tours. Our hosts, Michael and Pauline, took us to each stop in their replica “San Francisco Trolley”, sharing stories about their lives, the region, and playing tunes on request. We even had a sing-along to The Tragically Hip! You can rent the trolley for events, weddings, and more, details here. If you’re looking for a great activity to get in before the end of summer, I highly recommend taking a trip to The Sunflower Farm and North Durham. There’s lots to do in the area! Check out durham.ca to see their curated collections of farms, markets, breweries, wineries, historical sites, and attractions. You’re…

Red Hot Chili Peppers at Bud Stage

Last week I went to see the Red Hot Chili Peppers at Bud Stage and we had VIP tickets! My friend Luis Mendoza from LA is on tour with the band and hooked us up with great seats + lounge access before the show. This was my first time at Bud Stage this summer. Before the show, it was POURING down with rain, so much that Lakeshore Blvd was completely flooded. Lorilynn and I took an Uber and by the time we met Sarah at the venue, the sun was out and it turned into a beautiful hot summer evening. The show was awesome and we sang/danced right until the end. Luis and I have been friends since the early days of Twitter. We met on the platform and finally in person at SXSW in 2012. Since then, we have hung out in LA and every time he’s in Toronto on tour with a band. THANK YOU FOR THE TIX MY FRIEND!!!! Hope to catch a few more concerts there before the temps cool down in the fall!

Now We’re Soaking Up The Sun

Can you believe it? It’s already mid-June! This year is flying by! It feels like we were setting our New Year’s resolutions just yesterday, and now we’re soaking up the sun, savouring long days, and making the most of every beautiful moment. Summer is in full swing, and I couldn’t be happier. There’s something magical about this time of year that brings out the best in all of us. My favorite thing to do is simply be outside. Whether it’s a long afternoon walk or an impromptu picnic with friends, being outdoors is my absolute favorite. There’s nothing like the feeling of the sun on your skin and a gentle breeze to remind you of the simple joys in life. Have been doing a lot of 5K+ walks lately. I love exploring new neighborhoods and rediscovering familiar ones. There’s always something new to see and appreciate! Walking is a great way to clear my mind and get some exercise. Parks are another perfect spot for summer, I like to bring a blanket, snacks, hydration, and lounge in the sun. Summer is all about creating memories with people you love. As we dive into the heart of 2024, let’s make the most of every sunny day and warm night. Embrace the spontaneity, cherish the laughter, and soak in all the summer goodness. Here’s to an amazing June and an even better summer!

Cold Punge Crew: Unbounded Sunrise Social

Had the best day! Woke up early and went to Trillium Park at Ontario Place for the Unbounded Sunrise Social event. Watched the sunrise with a meditation, jumped around to music, went in the cold, then in the sauna, and listened to live tunes by the fire. It was perfect. Went to a few of these events last summer, so fun. This year they had a Sunset Social but I couldn’t make it. If you’re looking for an event that doesn’t involve going to a bar or restaurant that will make you feel GREAT after, this is for you. The cold plunge community in the city, especially Unbounded, is so lovely. Positive people with an interest in wellness, having fun, and making the most of each day. View this post on Instagram A post shared by CASIE STEWART (@casiestewart) Benefits of Cold Plunge There’s a bunch of benefits for the mind and body. Please remember, I am not a doctor and you should prob check to see if this is safe before you give it a go. Aside from being great for stress & anxiety, it helps circulation. When you plunge into icy water, your blood vessels constrict, pushing blood toward your core to keep you warm. Then, when you get out, those vessels open up and send fresh, oxygenated blood rushing back to your limbs. This can help reduce inflammation and speed up muscle recovery. If you’ve been hitting or need a little extra recovery, cold plunge. Cold shock releases endorphins, filling you with energy and positivity. It’s pretty crazy! Everyone at this event was smiling. The mental act of pushing through the pain of cold water will make you feel a natural high (for real). A 2-minute dip in cold water can be just the thing to clear…

Allure Magazine – Hello Flawless!

Today I’m featured on Allure Magazine in an article by Beth Sobol about peoples love for beauty products that are now discontinued. For YEARS my go-to face makeup was ‘Hello Flawless‘ by Benefit Cosmetics. I never left home without it, ever. In the article I called it ‘Photoshop for your face’, it really was THAT GOOD. A couple years ago, I found it at a liquidation pop-up in Muskoka after being discontinued for years. Read my story, and a few from some die-hard beauty product fans on allure.com. Thanks Beth!

CHFI | When Your Song Comes On

How cool is this! In December, after dancing to Taylor Swift in my audition, I booked a gig with Rogers/CHFI for an upcoming campaign. I had one day on set to film a TV commercial and one day in the Rogers studio for print images. It was so fun! I thought it wasn’t going to be live until later this year but much to my surprise, it is! I got a DM on January 2nd that someone saw me in a CHFI Instagram ad, the next day someone saw the TV commercial, and on Friday I got a text that I was on billboards. What a cool start to the year! 🤗

Metro – Catch The Excitement!

The Metro Holiday campaign is now LIVE across Ontario. I love that is says ‘Catch the excitement’ on my photo. A few days before we went to the Venice Film Festival in September I was booked on a holiday campaign. It was the first job I booked with my new agent and part of what got me the job was my selfies! Ha. I do have a LOT of practice! I went for a fitting the day before the shoot and when I showed up to set, I was so happy they picked this cute, red, sparkly number. Totally something I would wear!

Interior Design: My Bespoke Rug

If you’ve been following me on Instagram for a while, you’ll remember last year when I posted about my first venture into textile design. Using a piece of my art made on iPad Pro, I uploaded the image to Weaver & Loom‘s digital platform and the process of creating my first rug began. 🤗 Fast forward to 2023, and I’m heading to Miami with the Weaver & Loom team! The first image below is my design from iPad, the second is a rendering of my 18 x 18 sample, the third is a color strike rendering of my 31 different colours, and the last image is my hand-knotted sample. The day I received my sample I was SO excited I decided to have a photo shoot with it! I was blown away by the construction and how vibrant the colours were. Going through the rug-making process with Weaver & Loom was incredible, as my rug went through production, I received updates from the weavers in Kathmandu, Nepal. Here’s my rug on the loom!

It’s Fall Y’All!

Why YES I DID stop by a pumpkin patch just in time for a post about the change of seasons! It’s fall y’all! On the 2nd last day of summer, I went to the media preview of a pop-up by GayLea Foods at the Stackt Market. They had coffee, snacks, and a pile of pumpkins for the perfect photo op. Side note, I have still never had a PSL. The change of seasons is always bittersweet, I love layering but it means the hot summer days are few & far between. It won’t be long till I venture over to the storage unit and pull out my array of coats and sweaters. Until then, I’m making the most of light layering, open-toe shoes, short sleeves, and bare legs. I recently shared a fun partnership with Value Village for their #ThriftProud Campaign. I had two pieces of content on my feed and there’s more that will be shared by the brand. I picked up all the items in the content from my local Value Village except for the white shirt above (it was my Dad’s!). POST 1 & POST 2.

Be My Light, Be My Yellow

This summer has been so busy, can hardly believe we’re almost half way through August. WHERE DID THE TIME GO? These bright yellow photos were from the KIND Summer Fair last month. This week I’m taking some time to recharge at Stoney Lake with Sean and some friends. I’ve been swimming, tanning, sea-dooing, cooking, laughing, running, reading, and doing yoga. It’s amazing how a few days at the lake will refresh your perspective, help you sleep, and brighten your mood. Sean and I did this almost every weekend for years. Yesterday I did a self-tape for a commercial from the cottage. I can’t tell you what it’s for but if you are reading this please put out some good vibes that I book it! Can you spot two differences in these photos?? We’ll be back in the city on the weekend then it’s the homestretch of summer before we go to Italy in September (more on that later!!!). 😁 In other news, this is one of my fav songs right now. Good lyrics.

HOME SWEET HOMEY

Went home recently to spend a few days at Mum’s with the fam. My uncle Jimmy (Mum’s twin brother) passed away in New Zealand and I wanted to be there for her. I didn’t realize how much I missed spending time together. My sister was there for a couple of days too! We went for nice walks in the neighborhood by the river, checked out the local thrift shops, and drive around remembering the places we used to hang out. I had three days off work and stayed a few extra days to work remotely. Grateful to have a job where I can work anywhere. Before heading home, Bonga and I went for wings at our old stompin’ grounds, Moose Winooski’s. It’s changed a lot since we used to go there on Thursday nights back in high school. The wings there are just as huge as I remember tho, so good. This is the first summer in 15+ years that Mum & Steve have been home and not sailing on the boat. Already planning a trip back soon. 🤗

Trying New Things: I Have An Acting Agent!

I recently signed with The George Agency, one of Toronto’s top talent reps! It’s been 5+ years since I had an acting agent. She’s back baby! I’ve done a few commercials and movies in the last ten years and did my first commercial at 15. I’m really excited to be represented by my friend Summer (from my college era) at this agency, who recently switched from actor to agent. Over the past 2 weeks, I’ve had a couple of auditions but haven’t booked anything yet. I hope I get something soon! This image is from a self-tape for a commercial that called for pets. I asked my bff & professional actor Cory Lee to come over with her pup Quincy Bonez to help me out. It feels great to be doing this again! Stepping a bit out of my comfort zone with this but I like it. Here’s to trying new things & new opportunities!

Spreading Joy w/ Evan Biddell & The Playsuit

If you’ve missed me talking about the Biddell Playsuit the last few years, you’re sleeping! There’s a good chance you’ve seen it on TikTok, in a fashion show, all over Instagram, or on the news. Since creating and selling the playsuit during the pandemic, Biddell has now sold OVER ONE MILLION dollars in Playsuits alone. This outfit is legendary and if you don’t have one yet, visit his shop and add CASIE20 to your order for a little present. I’ve known Evan for a decade (at least) and last week, he was a guest on our podcast, Cast of Creators. IT WAS AWESOME. He is so honest about his career, time on tv shows, ups & downs of running a business, starting a TikTok. It’s a great interview and so much fun. Tap the play button below or listen on the website. Last week I was a model in Biddell’s ‘WALKOFF’ at Lavelle on King Street. It was so fun. When I got there he said Iooked like Pamela Anderson and someone else said I looked like Nicole Richie. In the words of Paris Hilton, I was SLIVING. (I’m listening to her book right now.) I loved the whole night and especially everyone who slayyyyyed in the walkoff. Biddell has a show at Fashion Art Toronto next month and it’s going to be epic. Who says epic anymore? Ha, whatever. I’m ready for fashion shows & fun events light up the city again! Bring on spring and strutting down the sidewalk. 😁
