What style does everyone love? FREESTYLE. Ladies & gentlemen I am proud to present a new contest series starting today that will take place on Fridays. Freestyle Friday used to be a club night at Metropolis in Kitchener that was all ages. I owned that place in the 90’s. Anyone remember it? Anyhoo, it goes a little somethin’ like this, each Friday I’ll post a FF contest, aka. Freestyle Friday, you enter, winner is chosen Monday. I find it really easy to blog from my phone too. up up here we go where we stop nobody knows

jamming to this right now, play it if you got sound or you feel like jammin’ too… I was laughing in this photo. I had noticed after a couple camera snaps there was a few people looking. I saw someone turn their eyes back to the road and they were smiling. It made me smile. I love taking so many photos, I feel like a tourist every day in this awesome city. Wore my docs again today. Man, I really forgot how confortable they are. I got them in the summer from the Doc Marten store on Queen Street. They are the Triumph style and She Does the City wrote about them being the awesomest boot ever. Didn’t even know that when I got ’em. WIN! Today for the first time I noticed a street sign in Union Station for Brookfield Place. It reminded be of this legendary brand new appartment building I lived in at 15 Brickfield Street in Sydney Australia back in 2004. Well to be honest with you, it was a suberb of Sydney called Paramatta. Spent about 20 min just now Google map-walking around the streets. After Paramatta for a couple months I ditched that place and moved to Bondi Beach. It’s beautiful there…ah, memories. This made the front of all the city’s papers today I’m sure. When I saw the caption “love you forever” it only reminded me of the book by Robert Munsch and Mum reading it to me. It was my fav growing up. Miss you Mum. I first joined twittter on May 5th, 2008. At that time I was working for an online casino company doing project management. I liked my job and was blogging daily. Near the end of 2008 I was really into Twitter despite not knowing THAT many people into it. I had under 500 followers and the Toronto community was very small compared to what it is now. Since then, my life has been enriched with HEAPS of wonderful people and experiences. I’m looking forward to the next 45,000 AND when I hit 100,000 tweets. OMFG that will be AMAZING. Cheers to Twitter and my 45,000 milestone! One of my followers @MCIbites introduced me to this video made with 45,000 still images. Pretty neat. I used to do these Friday posts that were called TGIF: Twitter, Google, Internet, Facebook. A roundup of some of my fav things from around the week this week. Guess what? I’m bringing it b-b-b-back. Here we go. Please comment, it’s nice when you share, I share, we share. Twitter: Influence. It’s a word that gets tossed around on the internet when talking about brands and people and ROI and social media but what does that really mean? The big draw I feel used to be traffic, if you had traffic, you had influence. Thanks to Twitter and a couple other sites, traffic on your blog is not the only way to measure. There’s more that come into play, attitude, reputation, audience. Brands want to connect with people that represent the same things they stand for, people who identify with the brand make it more authentic. (A word now totally over used BTW.) For example, Virgin America is a great brand match for me, I’m a cheeky little rabble-rouser, I like to have fun and I reckon Sir RB and I will make good friends. (P.S. we meet in Dallas Dec. 1st). Klout was recently featured in the Globe & Mail and I think what they are doing is great. Good morning. Had a FREAKOUT this morning. No not because of my adventure but because my blog was hacked. Don’t do that. Seriously. Who the fuck hacks a sunshine-rainbow-fantasty-glitter blog like mine? Looooooooosers. Panic at my disco when I got the notification. Seriously. First thought, shit, I leave for NZFW today what the hell imma do? Please don’t hack things, it’s not nice. Bad actions/vibes you put into the universe have a magnetic particles and like attracts like and they will all come back to you. Be careful. Heaps of clothes. Thanks to Canadian designers Paris Li, Andy Hall and Nella Bella for outfitting me with style. Thanks to Telus for my phone + keeping me connected. Thanks Betty Kiss for the massive suitcase & reversible clutches. I packed shoes galore, Doc’s, cowboys, wellies and five other pairs. It’s fashion week followed by chill time with the fams, totes necesary. My two suit cases aren’t stuffed though, need to leave room to bring home lotsa goodies & prezzies. Taking some Tim’s coffee for a cute little blogger named Hannah in NZ. Carry on bag is from Nella Bella, the red reno suede. It’s lovely! I always bring my sketchbook on the plane. I get inspired watching people, looking at the flight path, reading listening to music, flying in general really. Crispers S&V are my fav snack (just saw on sale at Shoppers for $0.99, go stock up on my christmas present!). I can plow through a bag of them easy. SO crunchy. New Wired mag arrived yesterday just in time. Might actually read it sice I’m travelling. I read a really good article by Alexandra Samuel called “Lady Gaga and the transcendent narcissism of social media“. I love her. You know that. She inspires me so much. I stuck to plan and cleaned rearranced my whole room. It’s lovely outside and I could go to the pool but I am to antsy to relax. I wanna do stuff. Once my room is cleaned I can pull out the sketch book and get on the projects. I love being creative and having designs that no one else has, it makes me feel totally unique. I’ve also been looking at machine embroidery designs and seeing how I can create some of my own designs to put onto clothes I already have to personalise them. Being crafty is great. I would love to wear some Canadian designers when I go to New Zealand for FW. I’m not about to go out and buy a heap but if someone out there is it interested email me. Otherwise, I’ll be decked in my own line. I was putting myself through Uni when I lived in Australia so I didn’t have much money. I needed to work in order to make it through the end of the year. I got called Cas and my BFF there was Cheryl aka Shazza. I made a clothing brand called Cas&Shazz. It looked kinda like this CAS+SHAZZ. I wrote it on couple shirts and made it on this neat sweater. I wanted a logo you could recoginize from far away, like Nike. My idea was ‘an ass you can recognize’. I used to write CASIE on stuff all the time. Rannie took this beautiful photo from our balcony before out shoot yesterday. We took photos for the Vitamin Water Canada blog and in his 140 project. Stay tuned for that. Good day yesterday mostly around the house working on a couple upcoming projects. Went for an evening stroll with Sabrina to Bellwoods and visited a friends roof patio for some wine and sunset. Stopped by CTS on the way, my fav shop. They had a bunch of items that were $1 and I picked up a couple vintage dresses I can totally do a Pretty in Pink switch to. I’m giving Zoey (my sewing machine) a workout this winter. Heading to the Fairlie Agency for a little co-working woith Carly-Anne today. Haircut at 4 with Darren, think I’m gonna buzz it one last time for summer. Dinner with Jeremy and some friends tonight, we finally all get to meet his crush. Loser karaoke after that but I’m gonna have to call it an early night. I still haven’t packed for Bud Camp and we leave at 7am. Check out this vid I make a cameo in by My City Lives. Earlier this summer I sent two people as Casie Stewart Brand Ambassadors to Vans Warped Tour – Mike Albertini & Jordan Rachel. I gave them all access media & back stage. The Van’s Warped Tour is known to have one of the biggest set lists for any concert, with 70+ bands appearing at our hometown Toronto date, there was no shortage of genres represented. From the smooth poppy vocals of newly acclaimed Mike Posner, to the grungy rock sound of Taylor Momsen’s band The Pretty Reckless, fans of all kind gathered to see their favourite bands.I had the opportunity to get all access, backstage, media access with my partner in crime Michael Albertini. One of the first things Mike and I saw was a pretty tough looking dude sporting a “F**K JUSTIN BEIBER” tshirt.. (yes, spelt like that). From then on, we knew that this day would be one for the history books. The first artist we knew we had to see was Mike Posner, and as I suspected, with him came along a following of loyal fangirls. Although fairly new to the scene, or at least to my knowledge of him, he’s had a pretty steady crowd goin’ on. I guess that hit “Cooler Than Me” has really caught on! Soon after, we hit a few other bands such as The Cab, and The Reverend Peyton’s Big Damn Band (They were insane!!!) Then it was time for The Pretty Reckless, and most importantly for us: T.MOM! THOUGHTS BECOME THINGS PEOPLE.

I tried to pull myself away from the computer, thinking I need a damn break. I was feeling all meh. I played Sims Miami party on Nintendo DS in bed, attempted to sketch book, played with phone, paced around, tried not to snack. I found myself back at the computer again and again and that’s where I started putting out good vibes. Do you know what happened next? THEY CAME BACK. A whole slew of good stuff happened today and it flipped my shit mood right on it’s damn stupid head. THOUGHTS BECOME THINGS PEOPLE. Like attracts like. I am so happy right now everytime I get nervous that ‘maybe I can’t do it’ or ‘how the heck is this gonna work’ I remind myself that I can and I will. I finally have the freedom to work on exactly what projects I want, with whom and when. I have dreamed of this and I will not let you down, I will not let me ME down. I close my eyes, cover them with my hands and repeat “this is my life, this is my life“. I got VIP tickets to Metric tonight outta the blue from my gonna-meet-tonight-first-time-new-friend from my home town. Oh internet, I love you so. I love this song too. Playin’ on repeat.

DO YOU HAVE A GUN MISS?

So yesterday I had a really intersting experience going through customs before leaving YYZ. I was very smily and dressed kinda cute as I approaced the dreaded security check at the airport. It always scares me for some reason, there is just something about all the turnstiles and other crowd control measures that puts me on edge! I do understand how important these security checks are though, and after reading this website about security turnstile here I probably know much more about airport security and turnstiles than the average person! Hence, I was extremely pleasant as I emptied all my gear intot the tray, laptop, shoes, small bottled liquids. I was pretty excited to step into the body scanner. It was my first time flying since this had been implemented a few months ago after the underwear bomber. No problems with the body scan but as I turned around it seemed a couple security guards were puzzled by something in my suitcase. First thought, they saw my ‘Hitachi massager‘ and they’re gonna give me a hard time, second thought, my corsets with metal boning have them confused. Neither was the case and as one security guard after another, followed by several police officers went for a look, I began to get scared. WTF are they looking at? I tried to be positive about the whole thing and deffinitley not get emotional. Crying would only make this worse, “keep smiling & don’t look scared” I told myself. A secutiry guard and police officer begun filling out paper work and the questions started coming. Where do I live, what do I do, where was I going & why. They could tell I was getting worried and told me to stay calm, so I tried as my hands were getting real sweaty and…

i’ll love you forever

Today I logged into Facebook as I do every day. I check the pages for work post, make changes etc, then I check my own messages. I had two messages and not spam about some event I don’t care about. One from Dad and one from a friend in New Zealand, her Mum, one of Mum’s oldest friends, passed away yesterday. Her name is Julie. Julie came to visit us a few years ago. It was so much fun to have her around. She came to visit with her daughter and gave us this book called Succulent Wild Woman by SARK. Julie filled the book with gold confetti angels, stuck between pages and all down the spine, throughout the whole book. When we opened they fell all over the floor and it was beautiful. To this day angels turn up around Mum’s house in the darnedest places. “This book is my glowing invitation to you — to live a rich, succulent life! I explore love, sexuality, romance, money, fat, fear and creativity. It’s a little bit like reading my diary — with permission. Succulence is powerful! and so are we as women.” SARK writes a journal and read a bunch of her posts today. They’re happy and inspiring, full of colour and bright thoughts and markers and stars and stuff like that. It’s really weird going to someones Facebook after they’ve passed, I wanted to post on it but I didn’t and it made me feel sad for a minute. Then, I read all the most recent activity and was brightened by her energy. Julie was inspiring to everyone she knew. She had MS and when she got better one time she decided to go on world tour. do you have any religious views?

I’m not into the conformity of religion. I despise people when think going to church forgives all your nasty things like being a jerk, bad parenting, littering, and douchebaggery. I grew up with the influence of be kind, give, share, smile, love, happiness. Basically, that is how I live my life, be kind, love yourself [you are awesome!] and help others where you can, inspire and be inspired by thoughts & things. I had/have very loving parents and a am an older sister. I got to teach things to her growing up and also learn from her. She was my everything growing up, me & Jenie we like peas and carrots. The closest I ever came to religion was studying Kabbalah for a couple years, it changed my life. I have a tattoo on my right wrist of a hai [life in Hebrew] with a pink heart. It is on the right wrist as that works with my circular flow of energy [Left to Right], and in my mind, stamps all my thoughts and feelings coming outward with “love life”. [And you wondered why I was so happy all the time!] That is my religion, loving life. Many of the teachings I learned from Yehuda Berg, my Rabbi Moshe Yogev and my friends at the centre have greatly influenced my life. I shifted my level of consciousness during that time, I changed how I viewed the world, people, objects, my outlook on life. I believe strongly that giving is its own gift, once you give, that in itself is a gift, therefore you have already received. I’m recently watched Objectified, a doc about objects and design. I’ve been waiting, wanting to watch this and sit in my room for ages. Me, my bed, my gadgets; laptop, camera, flipcam, phone, monitor, sketchbook, reading book, memory cards, usb/wall charger. Objects of my affection.
