I Hear The Mermaids Come Out in The Moonlight

I love when the sun shines and makes rainbows like this. Up early and off to Dearborn, Michigan!   I usually wear heels when I travel but at this temperature and 7am for a 1 hour flight, I couldn’t be bothered. Plus, my five pairs of shoes fit nicely in my now broken suitcase. I need new luggage ASAP. Thank you Barbie for these great MK shoes. I need a pedicure.  There’s a wicked deal for shellac mani/pedi on Buytopia right now for $25. Ends tomorrow! 875 people have already got it. I have one, gonna try and go this weekend. This app is called TripIt. It pulls flight & travel info from your email and puts it all here for you. SUPER convenient if you travel heaps. It’s also free 😉 I flew on the smallest little peanut ever. 18 people! Asked the security lady to take my photo. What a diva! Later Toronto! Nice being in ya. Hellooooooo Michigan! Sat in the car with someone from Spain Newswire and Karl Lohnes who is on CTV Metro News & HGTV. Both from TO & super nice. I’m here at the Hyatt in Dearborn, Michigan for Go Further With Ford a conference about Innovation & Design. INNOVATE OR DIE!  Told you that was a trend last week. I think it’s mostly traditional media which is exciting for me. Digital kids paving the way for new media huzzahhhhh! Ford is super savvy about this whole conference from the invite, to registration, logistics and delivery. I was here w/ Ford in January for the International Auto Show and was quite impressed. I posted about it here and here. They sent 150 of the worlds top bloggers for a three day press tour. I met  Stuart Flatt from Average Joe’s Blog in England and stalked Dylan Culhane…

$2 Short To Take Over The World

That would be he name of a song in my band if I had a band and wrote songs. I can write but I don’t write many songs. I used to write prose and poetry before I had a blog and that made me very happy. A blog is like a long poetic story, this one about my life. I hope it goes on forever and I will go back and read it, living it over and over again. Each day as if it happened yesterday. A romance. There was something disarming about his smile. I gave him my last cigarette in trade for this photo. I shouldn’t smoke anyways. It’s gross. Tomorrow night I am seeing a band. A band I did not know, but a band I know now. They are called Blind Pilot and they are from Portland. Thank you to my friend Jonathan for being a legit hipster who knows bands ,for opening my ears to this lovely sound. They are playing the dinner at the Ford Design conference. You might like them too. I do.  [arve url=”https://youtu.be/8qyoxYEM3mI”]

FW 2012 Levi’s Preview & Your Personal Brand

Last week I attended the FW 2012 preview from Levi’s at The Burroughs Building, one of my favourite venues in the city. I’ve been a lover of the Levi’s brand since I had my first pair as a kid. I remember how excited  was to rock my first 501s. I was happy to see the brand taking a stept outside the denim box into lifestyle clothing. I’d really in love with the little dress. There’s a bunch of denim dresses in the SS collection I would love to be wearing right now. It was nice to see some creativity in the fashion show. You’ll see how the models each came out and walked the stage playing ‘characters’ who wear Levi’s. There was a few couples dressed in similar styles, the preppy kids, hipster boy with a fixie to show lock holder on jeans, pretty girl in the dress, and suave babe in blazer. It was nice. Not to mention the whole performance starting with shirtless hunk. Watch The Video: I’m pretty sure every fashion editor in the city was there. We watched all the models get dressed in different styles right before our eyes. This guy was the babe of all babes. Last year I wrote a piece for The Levi’s Girl blog about building your personal brand. “Casie Stewart knows a thing or two about leaving an online footprint. Recognized by Klout as one of Toronto’s top tweeters and bloggers, she has plenty of tips on how you can leverage social media channels as an invaluable element to your personal brand.”                 Mum used to tell me I was “someone special,” and I guess you could say I believed her. I’ve had lots of different jobs growing up, but my current job…

Casual Sunday, Content Conductor

Limitless, the movie, the you seen it? Bradley Cooper takes a drug that allows him to use ALL of his human brain. He goes crazy. I’d go crazy. I don’t really go to the gym but I work out my brain. Imagine you could use your whole brain. I love science news. “to that mystery is the contention that humans “only” employ 10 percent of their brain. If only regular folk could tap that other 90 percent, they too could become savants who remember π to the twenty-thousandth decimal place or perhaps even have telekinetic powers.” Scientific American, 2008 I’m working brain triple time today. Backing up my entire Macbook, making it new again. Keri would be proud! Dell Ultrabook is good. iPhone is a such an incredible device for making things. I’m watching Edie Segdwick in Ciao! Manhattan on Netflix. Welcome to THE FUTURE. I wonder what her blog would be like if she was here? Maybe like this, talking to herself. Then I replaced it Rum Diary. Johnny Depp as Hunter S. Thompson.Last night a friend and I made mojitos with mint from my OWN garden. Oh yeah. Thanks Mum for bringing back my green thumb. I read a great article about the making of the movie and Johnny Depp’s Rum Diary promise. It talks about them being at Hotel Nacional in Cuba. I stayed there. Been to Puerto Rico where it’s filmed too.  Somebody get me a mojito. Good quotes. The babe girl in the video has a turtle covered in Swarovski. Are big turtles good pets?  I wanna live at the beach, again. Oh God, why did she have to happen? HA! The fashion in this movie is amazing. Happy Sunday!

EVENTS: Post Party Meltdown – MMVA, NXNE

Latest ep of my show on @CoralTV. I’ve been more active on YouTube since working with the Coral team. Viddy will load right into YouTube which makes things super fast & easy. From all the conferences I’ve been to this year, it’s clear that the future is in video. TV on the Internet FTW.  LMK what you think! Big ups to Shannon Lit who shoots/edits THIS. I love my Lita’s! Ordered those shoes from Nasty Gal. Wish I had them in every colour/pattern/material. Super high but comfy to wear. I walked for hours in them this weekend. Photos from Carla’s Instagram. I love these Global Warming Tees from Gingerich Group. I got one that says ‘Peace Be With You‘. I’m wearing it in next CoralTV episode of THIS. Caught an awesome set of old school & new school hip hop covers at The Ballroom by Down With Webster after they won a few MMVA awards.  CONGRATS AGAIN TO 1188 FILMS FOR WINNING TOO. Rock version of Drake’s motto. I love this track. I did a lip dub on Viddy the other week.  Instagrammy photos from the weekend made with Flipagram I blogged yesterday.   My YouTube channel has a few updates and we’re over 120,000 views now. Subscribe to it! You don’t wanna miss a thing. Aerosmith FTW. I just drank an iced tea, I forgot how refreshing it was. Enjoy the day. Drink lots of water!

TECH: Take a look, It’s in a book, A Reading Rainbow!

I’m so glad digital kids get to experience Reading Rainbow. OHHHHH YES. I like wizards & fairies, princes & princesses, and pirates. Right now, just like I did as a kid. I actually like all these things. Ocean adventures? Travel? Things that go? Yes, yes and yes. I first visited the genius academy. Obviously! The app picks books for you (the kid) based on selections then the books come aliiiiiiiive! There’s video fieldtrips, easter eggs, and games.  I grew up in the library and spent every summer in the Summer Reading Club. I LOVED RR. I really should read more books now. But I read the whole internet every day?  It’s like a thousand books. 🙂 LeVar was on Jimmy Fallon last night. Jimmy did a cover of the Reading Rainbow song as The Doors once. I chatted with LeVar in 2008 at a dinner I did some work with Women’s Post in honor of  Winnie Mandela. I can’t find any photos or links but it happened! There is on Women’s Post link but it’s got a warning on it. He was super cool &   high energy! We bonded! From Mashable: Reading Rainbow is Back Their app makes good business sense. Many children who grew up watching the television show now have children within the app’s target age range of 3 to 9 — giving Reading Rainbow a clear nostalgic edge over other children’s books in the App Store. But the project is also a sincere attempt to encourage reading. Its digital enhancements of children’s books look more like the subtle, story-building interactivity of pop-up books than distracting bells and whistles. Where the app most departs from its television roots is in the virtual world outside of its books. Each story, for instance, comes with games and puzzles. Kids design their…

InstaObsessed! Insta Raps, Insta Vids, InstaGIFT for YOU.

You know I love my Instagram. Well, yesterday I spent a few hours playing around with my latest iPhone app Flipagram. It turns your Instragram photos into video. Made these of the boys & girls I’ve shot since getting iPhone. Recognize anyone? Then I came across this Instagram RAP. Yes, RAP. It’s by 21 year old cutie Allday (Tom Gaynor) in Australia. There’s another Instagram rap by MikeyBolts (YouTuber) but he’s not as cute or hipster or Australian. I downloaded his album. Producer C1 reminds me of this Maori mega babe I met in NZ. Thanks to the WONDERS of the Internet, Flipagram saw my Tweet, posted my vid on their Instagram & Facebook, connected with me via DM and now we’re friends. So, naturally I asked for a couple codes so I can get you the APP FO FREE. I paid for mine you devils! If you are Instagram obsessed too and wanna try it, click this button and TWEET ME. Tweet to @casiestewart Make sure you’re following both @casiestewart & @flipagram. I have three promo codes for three people anywhere in the world. I will pick this afternoon cause I know you is ANXIOUS.

The Future, Ads & Content feat @SayMedia @VictorsnSpoils @VirginAmerica

Check this out! I had no idea, mega agency, Viktor & Spoils made a case study about this. Most of this video was shot by my sister and the whole thing was put together by Sean Evans from 1188 Films. Pretty neat! 1188 just WON for Post Production Of The Year for Down With Webster “Big Wheels” video at the MMVAs tonight. If you like/love Nintendo you will <3 this. CONGRATS to 1188 & DWW! Read a good article about advertising & content on SAY MEDIA’s blog this week. Goes back to what I was saying last week about transmedia storytelling. I love their VENN diagrams.

Trends at Banff World Media Festival: Social TV, Transmedia Storytelling, 3D, Innovation, Mobile Everything

It’s been an exciting two days so far. We’re going to see LOTS more social integration with broadcast media this year. Everyone is talking about transmedia storytelling, telling stories with brands across different platforms in traditional & new media. Mobile everything. I’ve learned about some really neat technology in 3D that is really freaking cool. No glasses and the most real picture you have ever seen. I hear sports look absolutely amazing. I’ve got a couple minutes in my hotel room before my Blackoptek treat mate Darren Pereira is on the panel about Social TV. Panel starts at 3pm Calgary time. Panel is Social Television: Ways to Engage, it’s gonna be a good one. Deets here: Larry King isn’t coming tomorrow night for the award show. I was hoping we could hang out. Oh well, off to next panel! Hope you’re having an awesome day. If you are in Banff and see me, make sure you say HI! Check out these horses I saw this morning!

FOAM is held in support of motionball (motionball.com), a not-for-profit organization that introduces the next generation of supporters to the Special Olympics Canada movement through social and sporting events. See photos from Motionball Gala 2011 & 2012. In other news, just got off the phone with Brick Bronson in LA who is behind The Weeknd about his new artist Everyday. Lifestyle Trends This Week – June 9, 2012

This week flew by and the next two are going to b e the same. LOTS happening this month. Neutral tones & grey were popular colours in my posts this week. Not many bright colours like last week. Pinterest Viddy Instagram Came across a neat tool for looking at your Twitter stats. I love looking at this stuff. I never think about the stats when I’m publishing so looking back at trends, patterns & stats is cool. Based on my last 4,000 tweets I publish approx 59.2/day and one of my tweets is retweeted about every 10 I publish. There’s lots of sailboats on the lake today. We’re heading to the airport in a couple hours flying WestJet into Calgary about 11:30pm. I’m stoked. Had a great prep-talk with a friend I look up to last night. Ready to kill it in Banff. I’m coming for you Alberta, the world!

Fashion Friday: Wanelo, NastyGal, Sherway Gardens winners

Been loving a couple online shops lately. I don’t buy as much in real life as I do in my dreams but I like the ideas they give  me to spice up my existing wardrobe.  This image is from the Wanelo email. Wanelo is “a way to find unique products and stores you have never heard of.” I’ve been drooling a bit, figured I should share! I hate the emails from Nasty Gal, they read my mind and know exactly what I want/am wearing. The ads follow me around online, taunting me with things they know I want. JERKS! These emails are what made me cave and buy a few pairs of Jeffrey Campbell shoes. Everything they send out is so nice and they have a monthly lookbook. I think I have all these outfits on some vintage variation. I love Jane Fonda in this Pucci Pre-Fall outfit. My fav collections are Cruise & Pre-Fall almost every year. One day I’ll have a boat and get to wear the cruise collections. Until then, I’ll settle for Mum’s boat and her vintages. 😉 Some wisdom shared by two of my fav fashion blogging ladies, Gala Darling, a Kiwi blogger living in NY and Gala Gonzales, an It Girl from Spain, living in London who travels the world for fashion. I partied with Gonzales in NZ at Fashion Week once. They’re both awesome girls you should know. Follow G.Darling and G.Gonzales. On this day last year I arrived in Pensicola, Florida for work. We stayed in Margaritaville. It was beauuuuuutiful! Planking was a thing at the time and I tried to create a new trend ‘mermaiding’, it never picked up. See some pix here. There were over twenty entries for the Sherway Gardens Spring Style contest and the winner is… VANESSA GRILLONE. Thank you…

Let’s Get Visual: Instagram, Viddy, Art Parties, Blondetourage

I have been loving Viddy lately. I don’t work for them but I met some of the execs at CES in Vegas and we were insta-friends. The image above is a bunch of vids I’ve made. They’re so bright and colourful. Even this GROSS is not soooo bad. Random Love Note. Heard some really good tunes at FOAM – Future of Art & Music event this weekend. This week I got a vile of sweat in the mail from El Tabador, the lucha loving Mexican midget from Koodo. I’ve been a Koodonation ambassador for almost a year. Together we donated $20,000 in my name to a charity in Malawi called Moving Windmills. Posted a TED talk with the founder last year. Last night I went to this event that featured ‘Dirty Car Art’ check this out: The night before I FINALLY met Candice, aka Edgy Veg who is also a host on Coral TV. Another one for the babe BLONDETOURAGE! Look how happy we are, cute. We both have nerdy iPhones. I’m in Mississauga for the day at a clients office teaching the ways of the web. Love it! Enjoy the day 🙂

Some things I learned at Strombo from David Cronenberg, Robert Pattinson, and Paul Giamatti. #Cosmopolis

I loved seeing the human side of these people. It was inspiring. Attending the show was great. I know George socially but I’ve never actually been to a live taping. This was the final show of his 8th season. Yesterday was a special friends & family presentation with the cast of Cosmopolis before they walked the red carpet at the Canadian première. I should have taken a pen & paper because I forgot I wasn’t allowed to use my phone. NOTE TO SELF. These actors made me think about myself, my career, my life. It’s really quite magnificent to be in the same room and hear them candidly speak about their lives, insecurities, and work. All photos by JJ Thompson. Thanks to the lovely Erin & CBC for sending right away. He was watching a clip of himself from a movie with Reese Witherspoon where he played a very small part. Despite making millions, five twilight movies and dating K.Stew (who is on the cover of Vanity Fair July 2012), he’s lacks confidence, security.  He was modest and slightly soft spoken. He said he avoids the media because he doesn’t really know what to say and he isn’t that smart anyways.  I imagined him to be more, more strong. He was undoubtly charming and his accent had my eyes light up with hearts like an old Loony Toons character. Tempted to rush the stage, I held back. Safe to saw, I was swooning. The way Rob sat in his chair vs. David Cronenberg showed a lot about their characters. Cronenberg, a seasoned and incredible film maker, sat back in his chair, open body language, head held high while R.Patts was the opposite. George asked David Cronenberg if anyone ever tells him “it should be done this way” or “do it like this”, he paused before answering…

They always say time changes things, but you actually have to change them yourself.

Heyyyyy it’s Monday! Up early as today we start filming for CoralTV. My show is called THIS: The Hot Internet Show and it`s gonna be a mix of fashion, travel, lifestyle with a tech twist. You know how important technology is to my daily life, I`m practically a walking wifi with iPhone attached. So from ‘This is My Life’ on the blog for seven years to THIS on YouTube. I hope you’ll all tune in. It’s gonna be fun. These photos are from Bloke & 4th with Lauren last week. It’s so nice to have a best friend. We had an awesome dance party at the Future of Art & Music event this weekend (FOAM). This afernoon I’m heading to CBC for an  in-studio exclusive, interview by Strombo with David Cronenberg, Robert Pattinson, Sarah Gadon and Paul Giamatti, to discuss their provocative new film, Cosmopolis. Move over K.Stew, seeing your bf R.Patts at @Strombo tomorrow. C.Stew FTW! Get yourself a big coffee, put a smile on your face and listen to some good music. You always have to choice to make the most of the day or to let something/someone else determine your happiness. Take charge. You are the director of your life. This video is pretty funny! “When I walk in the barn, this is what I see” Jiggle part cracked me up.

Lifestyle Trends This Week – June 2, 2012

I publish a lot of things on the Internet. I’ve been told is it’s hard to keep up with’. To me it is art. I have an obsessive compulsive obsession to make/build art/things/memories. Documentation is addicting. I’ve had days without Internet, I start scratching, yelling, freaking out, no just kidding, I do get antsy around 4pm. It happens more in weekends, sometimes I don’t feel like it then I miss it. My favorite social media sites right now are Instagram, Pinterest, Viddy and I use Facebook, Twitter and Foursquare to share them. This is what happened this week. Yellow and red were hot colours on my Instagram and Pinterest A Viddy I posted of a wizard guy with a fushingi ball was on the ‘whats’s hot page’. I used to go CRAZY using 12seconds.tv years ago, similar thing but not as awesome. Viddy is like Instagram for videos! It has filters, music, and a 15 second time clock. My profile is viddy/casiestewart. It’s intrgrated with Facebook timeline if you have’t noticed. I really love the DIY projects from Honestly WTF. I pinned this gorgeous Louis Vuitton studded collar from the 2012 Cruise Collection and a couple weeks ago I (started) one just like it. Mine’s not ready to come out yet. Weather is gloomy. About to do some work around the house and vaguely movies, currently on something about British school girls in boarding school on Cosmo. The sun came out for a few seconds, captured its soul. If you are still in the dark ages with an old phone you can browse any user’s Instaphotos in Statigram. Barbie made brekky. Beauty! Get off the couch or become the couch, do what you want! Bon weekend! 🙂

Circadian Rythm, Reflective Clothing

Cleaning up my office today was so good. I’m BACK! Made sewing corner and set up my sewing machine. I call her Zoey and its really about time we spent some time together. I have some patterns I’vebeen dying to make and this is the perfect time. There are so many simple things in style I could make and heaps of DIYs on the web. Note on paper says this probably was written a year ago, fitting for today. Title of post was scribbled on the paper too. I don’t know the significance. I have a bad memory. It’s cold outside, Wanna stay warm, Wind whipping my windows, Winding my thoughts, Whirl wind, words spin I always wrap things around my head. I like my head covered. I like the way it feels. Thinking about wearing a gorgeous vintage silk turban tonight. This is one of my old favourite quotes by the best Dr. around. This almost blank notepad was uncovered when I excavated office junk mountain. It’s amazing the treasures you find cleaning! Must get ready & find something to wear tonight. Lauren and I are going to the Future of Art & Music warehouse party, ‘FOAM. It’s at Brickworks and there are all kinds of art, music, food & beverage things going on. Lozzie Pops did her first segment on the news for CBC today. I woke up early to catch her. So cute. Fav person on Canadian TV.

Those who bring sunshine into the lives of others, cannot keep it from themselves.

I love when it rains. Joe Fresh denim shirt dress, Hunter wellies, Gap kids rubber jacket, Toronto Star cartoon brolly. Sadly, my brolly caught a bad case of wind on the way to the conference and he is no longer with us. Made it to Women in Business conference, found power supply. The guy on stage just used a word I don’t know, can someone explain ‘rolodex?’ See what I did here? We start filming Monday. I’m really excited. Been waiting for THIS for my whole life. You know how I always tell you to be positive and make the most of each day? Well, I really freaking mean it. The only way to attract good and wonderful things into your life is to put it out there.
