Kingdom of Jewels – @Swarovski F/W 2012/13

Last night I went to the Swarovski FW 2012 preview and touched a zillion jewels fit for a king, fot a kingdom really! This Hello Kitty is 1/88 that was made by hand and valued over $10,ooo. See ya later byeeee! I’ll just take this kitty home 😛 I really love the skully items in the mens collection. Thank you Swarovski Canada for this beautful necklace. This gold/black volcanic ash setting is seen in FW 2012 on several items. I’m at the Darrek Kwik Studio right now getting my hair done before heading home to get ready for Toronto Fashion’s 25th Anniversary gala. Swarovski is sending some BEAUTIFUL jewellery for me to borrow, celebrity style, for tonight’s event. Can’t wait to get dressed up! If you’re heading to the Royal Ontario Museum for the festivities keep an eye out for Lauren and I. My hair is now beige.

May 2, 2012 – Why Don’t You Blog About It? #archives

Hey & welcome to the time machine, it’s 2006! And it’s sunny out! I have long blonde hair. I work during the week at a fashion company as the Personal Assistant. It’s a bit Devil Wears Prada and I arrive early before my boss where I get her office ready, turn on the computer, pull up the blinds and check for mail or messages. It’s an excellent learning experience, she is hard on me. She needed to be. I’d never worked full time and I was n00b to the city. Her and I go on to become friends and we live happily ever after. The friends I met on that place from LA have this awesome foundation called Bridle Bash that throws a MASSIVE party on the Bridle Path. I’ve never heard of the Bridle Path or seen any of the mansions. I’m in shock! I blog about it on August 1, 2006. I write younger then than now. The Bridle Bash II, what an amazing party. Burton Cummings & the Burton Cummings band were there. It was super hot. The pool was packed with viewers some who include JD from INXS, Miss Canada, Casie & friends and many, many, many more. It was an amazing party, enough said, I was there until the sun came up. The party raised $300,000 for the children of camp Oochigeas. The music was rockin and the people were great. I saw that you could buy tickets from ebay with the starting bid at $1,000!! Damn! Another friend opens a restaurant on King Street East called Kultura. There’s no sign on the front and it’s really cool. I went to a party during Film Fest and was in the same private lounge area upstairs as Vince Vaughn. He’s really tall. King East seems really…

Hey May Baby, I Like That Spring In Your Step

I found the May flowers. They’re in my garden. Japan Instrgram app Pick is a whole lotta fun. It’s like the OG Instagram but you can add glitter, bears, bowties, wigs, hats, glasses, messages, glasses, hearts, stars, hearts, and more. Gizmodo wrote about it last week if ya missed it. If you’re looking for a tasty snack, grind some dark chocolate with sea salt on hot popcorn & mix it up. Delightfully tasty and fairly slim. Today I learned that “people born in May are more likely to have a spring in their step than those who started life in January” via new research published by Daily Mail UK. SOME FACTS: Those born between March and August considered themselves luckier than people born between September and February. Lucky “May-borns” include rugby player Jonny Wilkinson, footballer David Beckham and model Jordan. The environmental factors around the birth period, like exposure to sunshine and temperature are considered possible influences on the body’s biological systems. In the name of spreading sunshine I uploaded a couple videos of my last Mexico trip to Viddy. I’m SO ready for summer to get here so we can all soak up the sunshine and wear less clothes. May is my fav month of the year. April showers bring May flowers, it’s time to get summer ready and celebrate my born day. I feel a bit silly making a big deal about my birthday so my sister is planning a little dinner next Tuesday night. You’re welcome to stop by. I’ll post details. Worked at YM Inc. as Assistant to Director of Product Purchasing. First ever job out of Uni. Was lucky to meet someone on the plane home from LA who worked in fashion. In Australia there’s this thing called Sunday Sessions that starts in the afternoon, involves music, BBQ, friends and fun. I think Sammy & the boys might start it up this summer. Day Dreams

Textile Fancy + Pop Princess + Toronto Fashion Incubator

I’ve mentioned 3F a couple times over the last month. The brand is new in Canada and I’m on the Board of Directors. Fancy, huh? I felt like ‘Young & The Restless’ joining the board! The 3F flagship store is at Dundas Square & the company was launched to compliment and integrate the family business KTC (Kazareen Textile Company). KTC is a leading supplier of apparel and textiles for some huge brands in North-America and Europe. Notable clients are Marks Work Wearhouse (see my posts on Mark’s here!), A&F, Polo Ralph Lauren, Tommy, and Calvin Klein. They have some agressive growth targets to open 33 stores in the next three years so you can see why I wanted to be part of the action! The other day they had pop princess Aleesia in the store for a meet & greet with fans. 103.5 was on site broadcasting live too. Next weekend at Metro Toronto Convention Centre all the girls from America’s Next Top Model will be in town and 3F is one of the Social Media Lounge sponsors. I’ll be backstage hanging out and probably feeling like a midget around all the models. I named him Isaac, after Newton.

Who?! A new someone… Isaac Newton joins Andy Warhol & James Dean as the important units in my life, my computers. Why Isaac? He’s “considered by many to be the greatest and most influential scientist who ever lived.” I’ve named one after an artist, one after an actor and I wanted to name this one after a scientist. Newton talked about universal gravitation, laws of motion, the universe, attraction and I’m into that. I name my gadgets after inspiring men in history because I spend so much time with them. Technologic boyfriend. They fuel my creativity. Computers are boys names, cameras are girls. Thanks Dell. I’m not used to using a PC even though I’ve only been Mac for less than a year. Time flies eh? Started a new sketchbook and working on some creative ideas for the year. Have an Ultrabook, tips, or any questions about the device? LMK. I’m ready to test it to it’s fullest and compare it to my darling little Macbook Air. Learned a bunch the last few days at FITC but what really stuck with me was the very last session I went to by Jason Theodor about creativity and how to create more, better different. I have some great notes from the conference I’ll be formulating into a piece an article TAXI. Feeling inspired! This UK stud is from Tumblr – OH CASIE Read this article “Marketing is dead” by Kevin Roberts, CEO of Saatchi & Saatchi Worldwide. I’ve been a Saatchi fan for as ling as I can remember. Passion for advertising and design started very young. Anyhoo, here’s an excerpt, read the whole thing on The Drum UK here. Encounter With a Cheetah Cub. He Hates Me. RARRRR.

I love the little animals Telus uses in their commercial so when I was in Mexico a few months back. I saw one and for $20 you could hold it. I was like OME LET ME HAVE IT. Yeah, well… Safe to say, he didn’t like me much. I just found this on my phone today and uploaded it to Viddy. Enjoy haha. It’s awkward. Be happy I shortened it! Do you know it? Viddy. It’s a video app that integrates with FB timeline and the super short videos (00:15s) are perfect for sharing mini moments. I used to be the #1 Canadian user of 12Seconds TV back before it was bought by AOL. RIP 12seconds 🙁 I love the fun of raw, unedited mini vids that post right to Twitter/FB. Stopped by the Community 54 space in Parkdale the other day (Queen west of Dufferin). It was opened a couple months ago and features a wide mix of vintage & new clothes with a pile of old school artifacts you might find at granddad’s garage sale. Relax & Recharge Dem Batteries, Girl.

I’ve been having a lovely relaxing day at home. I love Saturdays with no plans but home and the couch. Repaired some furniture, watched a few movies, sorted an array of business cards, and played Barbies with a mini munchkin. Movie marathon currently in progress so far we watched Hard Candy w/ Ellen Page, a psycho thriller and Waynes World. Next up looking for rom com and some foreign film to remind me of travelling. These photos are from my trip to our nations’s capital for Ottawa Fashion Week earlier this year. Have been using my camera less since I switched to iPhone and forgot about all kinds photos on it. Doh! In the spirit of being Canadian, this video sums up all aI learned about prohibition on my trip to the Canadian Club HQ last month. The infographc is on PR newswire and you can read some of the other kids write-ups about the tour on Sidewalk Hustle and Notable.ca. It was done by the same film studio that did the vid I was in for Puma last year, 1188 Films. We had so much fun with this campaign, celebrating After Hours Athletes. Trumped For The Very First Time

Had my first visit to the Toronto Trump Hotel in February and in honor of the Trump family cutting the ribbon for it’s official opening this week, heres a few photos from the Veet Pink Carpet event. There was a performance by Lights, decadent hors d’oeuvres, pink desserts, champagne, and an Old Hollywood setting complete with Ms. Monroe. They had stylists on-hand for makeup and hair too. It was fun. Before makeup w/ the lovely Catriona. Love this Wes Anderson inspired photoshoot she posted. Especially this photo. I foresee this in/as my future. So cute. 🙂 Ok aaaaaaand back to the event, Lights! Sheena! Last time I saw her we were at YD Square hosting that super fun bouncy castle event with Koodonation. Do you know what “microvolunteering” is? For my work that day Telus & Koodonation donated $20,000 to my chosen charity, Moving Windmills. A project that supports Malawian-run rural economic development by building windmills. Told that story a little bit here: Social Change Through the Social Web. Marilyn! I SO want to wear this outfit. My sister does an awesome throw back laugh light this. HAHA. Love to see anyone laugh, even me! Listening/watching this episode of Behind the Brand with Brian Solis. I’ve told you about everyone before. Did you know Pinterst is three years old? Bet you didn’t. I almost feel like I shouldn’t blog this but most of you wont even watch it. BRIDLE BASH! July, 28th 2012

No, it doesn’t have anything to do with weddings! Bridle Bash is an awesome party put on by the Bridle Bash Foundation who I’ve been friends with for almost ten years. This summer, the party will once again be rocking one of Toronto’s most elite neighbourhoods, the Bridle Path. Party date is July, 28th. At the last one I attended my siser and I took over a canoe, inside the pool and made the society page of The Globe & Mail: I’m volunteering my time to help out the team with social media & run the twitter. We’re not decided on who will be rocking the stage yet BUT in lieu of the fee for an awesome band, the Foundation is planning to donate $150,000 to the charity of their choice. Picking the Right Glasses, for Your Face!

I’m a huge fan of wearing glasses. They’re a statement piece for your face and can change a somewhat boring outfit into something with a lot more style. I’ve had glasses since my first eye checkup in high school. They were my first ever high end designer item too. I saw a pair of Gucci frames before I went in to get my eyes checked, as we were wrapping up my appointment the doctor told my my eyes were near perfect. You think a girl would be happy about that, no, I wanted those GUCCI GLASSES! Fortunate for fashion, I was able to get them in the weakest possible prescription and Mum & I went home happy after placing the order. Now that I’m grown up (sounds so weird to say that, but anyways) I have to get my own glasses. A good price and easy shopping experience are important. Yesterday I chatted with Derek Derek Desierto’s about his top picks top picks for the spring and summer. Welcome to my grass patch, glass castle in the sky. Shopped the Peacock Parade sale yesterday. Got the vest. You like? I love. There were so many nice things. I realized I have a clothes problem when I looked through the Line Knitwear leathers and found one of my own, the shoes that matched ones I have. I must clean my room. I attempted last weekend but failed. They had a bunch of stuff by Nicole Miller. Remember when her and I were hanging out with Derek in New Zealand? SO fun. The cafe at the hipster Queen Street Loblaws is great for people watching. It’s also sunny. Had a second of sadness as the Fashion Television truck drove by. No more FT. I hear the Dare to Wear Love fashion show was on it. A couple people said they saw me. LIFE GOAL, check that one off the Bucket List. Loved that show for over 20 years. That’s my Tattoo shop beside Shoppers, FY Ink. I’ve got an appointment there tomorrow to get some work on my sleeve done. I’m so incredibly excited. A hot blonde girl is doing it. This is my Sharpie rendition. I always draw them on first, hence why right arm is being done. I’m left handed! Today & tomorrow is a HUGE Billabong sample sale. It used to be held in the Carpet Factory building in Liberty Village when i worked there and I got heaps of stuff over the years. Good prices, lots of merch. I’ve been wearing Billabong for ages, see all kinds of past outfits here.

Ok, I know the Facebook + Instagram thing is ‘so yesterday’ like Mandy Moore but it has totally sparked my interest a VC funding and who’s gonna buy what next. I have a feeling that Google is going to make a move, talk about Google+ is all over the place but who is really using it? I do, kinda, when I upload photos to Picasa but I’m not accessing it directly. Did you hear that Microsoft bought Netscape? NETSCAPE? Some millennial monsters won’t even know what that IS! I have a feeling Blackberry is working on something, possible a merger or acquisition of or by another company. Maybe Google? I’m just thinking out loud, and by out loud I mean here. My thinking place. I wanna get them in writing just in case I’m correct, Gary Vaynerchuck predicted the Instagram/Facebook thing months ago. Feel free to pipe in any moment with your own thoughts. Maybe Google will buy Pinterest and integrate it into their newly added larger profile photos a la Facebook timeline. Who knows? Who cares really.
