It is SO BEAUTIFUL outside today. Can you believe it is ROctober and 19 dregees! Gah. It’s gonna be 21 tomorrow. This is gonna be an awesome weekend! I’m going to a clothing swap on Saturday. I’ve got a massive travel bag of clothes I pulled from my closet. If I’ve not worn it and it’s not vintage or seasonal, it’s GONE! The mass piles in my room are shameful. I feel to good to be giving them away, all the leftover clothes to to a charity organization. On Sunday I’m this week’s guest on the Social Media Show on Perpetual Radio with Karim Kanji. We’re gonna be talking about New Twitter, the Virgin Contest and a few other exciting things. On Monday I’m filming a video with My City Lives about my favourite park in the city. So many exciting things happening!! I love you Toronto! Tomorrow is the day Virgin America picks the Provocateur. I’ve been leading the whole competition and have more votes, youube views, FB friends, Twitter followers and blog readers then my competition. He’s a nice guy but I rekon I’m exactly what Virgin America & Richard Branson are looking for! Thank you all for being such good sports and rooting for me this whole time. It’s been going since JULY! I make a great Virgin Girl, eh? Hope you all have an awesome day. If you can, go outside and enjoy the sun. Nothing like that warm glow on your face!

just call me domestic diva

oh em gee, a baby! You wouldn’t normally say “domestic” with me in mind, I’m usually the opposite. Not really into cooking, children, cleaning and stuff like that. However, last night I cleaned my room, vacuumed and made a hearty butternut squash soup…from scratch! It startes like this, boiling the squash then peeling and putting in blender with magic ingredients before letting it simmer on the stove. Very tasty. If you wanna try just ask! I’m actually pretty good at cooking, Mum taught me well. The thing is, when you’re single, cooking for one person isn’t really that fun. I love entertaining (surprised?) and having people over, that’s when my Martha skills come out. How hot is Sabrina working our new LG Kompressor unit. Dayum grrrl! This thing sucks like a mofo. Our house is like mad clean atm. You can sleep on the carpets. I have to keep it that was cause a crew is coming to film at my place for an upcoming project on Monday. Tres exciting 🙂 Ok, TED afternoon session is about to start! I’m ready to be INSPIRED! Hope you are having a wonderful day. PS: I’m not affraid of babies anymore. Walked down to the ocean in Beach Haven, tide was out. So beautiful. I miss being near the ocean. When I lived in Bondi (Australia) I used to visit the water each day, lay in the sand, stare at the sky. I was really happy there, I’m happy now too. I climbed on the childrens boat, laxed on a bench, lazed in the sun. The flowers here are very beautiful. I have heaps of photos fronm the past week. People here have quite lovely gardens. Nana & Grandad always had a really nice garden. He had passion fruit trees , flowers and vegetables. I carved my name in a tree there too. Love you Grandad, miss you. Chilled out with Nana today. This is on my cousins lawn. Their house is great. I’ve been lucky this trip to stay at really nice places. I enjoyed staying with Kms the other day. His place felt kinda like my old house on Broadview in TO; artsy and musical with character. Nice fro babe. Walked into downtown Beach Haven, there’s about five shops, three takeaways, a dairy and a cafe with a foursquare checkin. I have a meeting at the cafe in the morning and will feel like my trip is complete if I can steal that Mayorship. GAME, SET, MISSION. Beer o’clock and diner making time. Got an extra suitcase today so I can bring home all my goodies. Love it here but ready to come home. Lots of exciting things on the horizon. love & light my friends xo

wake me up when (my) september (dream) ends

This September kicks off a bright start the the next few months. I’ve got a full calendar until Christmas! After that, I’m thinking about a vacation but who knows where I will be by that time. I only ever imagine I would be where I am right now. Look up at the sky, be thankfull. The beauty of working for myself is that as long as I keep living and have internet access, I’m working. I promise myself to make the most of each day, set high goals and document it. September is a ver exciting time in Toronto as we host the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF). I’ve not gotten an movie tickets and I need to get on that. I’ve been invited to some pretty neat stuff in Yorville during the day throughout the festival. Wasn’t able to attend before cause I was working for THE MAN, now, going to that stuff is my JOB! I am THE MAN. The next three months go like this (GenYTO & TweetgasmTO are in there for both Sept. & Oct. somewhere too)… Sept. 9-17: Toronto International Film Fest Sept. 18-28: New Zealand Fashion Week Sept. 30: TEXxTO Conference Sept. 30-Oct 3: Boston Friends visit TO Oct.4: Contract with TrendHunter (3 Months Oct-Dec) Dec: Go visit Mum in Bahamas on the Boat for Christmas. Working on something else cool for October that I will share next week. So many thing on the go that Google Calendar & Tasks are my new BFF. Feeling some serious arthrisis today. Ankle and arm wrapped in castor oil compress. Mum would be proud. She’s still sailing away to Bahamas, they won’t get there until some time near winter. Feels like Fall today, air is cooler, sun is hiding. Summer is deff over. I’ve got a stay in bed all day kinda feeling but I can’t do that, I’ve got work to do. Feeling a bit overwhelmed. Need to send more info to NZFW for my visit. I can’t believe I am going to NZ. Send stats to Wakestock too. This next year is gong to be really exciting. I hope to get to Europe and/or Asia (just throwin it out there). Haven’t seen my sis lately. Have an event tomorow night at Andrew Richard Designs to see the new stuff from Gap and the launch of online shopping. Happy to be making friends with Gap Inc., my first job was at a Gap store in 1996. I’m in love with Fall fashion and can’t wait to rock tights and jackets again. Boots, I miss wearing boots. I hardly wore open toes this summer, I’m just not that into it. Looks like we’re gonna have a big crowd at Gladstone for TweetgasmTO tonight. GenyTO Thursday will be good too. Love that we’re getting more people out to meet & greet each other. Listening to Yacht today, good band and chill for working. I need hocus focus please. Go go gadget focus. Enjoy the day. I’m going international.

First stop – Auckland, New Zealand for the 10th Anniversary of NZ Fashion Week! I am happy to be attending as a media VIP. I’ll be covering the week’s event, meeting designers and talking with sponsors. Stoked. Photos by Lynsie Roberts Since I’ve been to NZ and AM a Kiwi I’ve grown up with New Zealnd influenced style this is REALLY exciting to me. They are always ahead of North American style over there. In 2004 I came back from down under wearing cowboy boots, skinny jeans with a mullet and a fedora. Two years later, skinny jeans on everyone. I can not WAIT to see how they Fashion Week in New Zealand. Style parade!! I leave for NZ Sept. 18th for about 10 days. Will hopefully get to see some of my Kiwi cuzzies. I’ll be posting more about my adventure as it gets closer. Right now I’m near Napanee and there about 100 Bud Girls getting ready for Bud Camp right now. Have a great weekend!! TGIF! 🙂

Come join us for a #genYTO #partio August 26th!

Mark your calendars cause on Thursday, August 26th it’s genYTO at The London Taphouse. They have graciously set aside a HUGE area for us on the roof patio starting at 8pm till late. Snapped this pic on that same roof last summer, sun setting is pure beauty. If you have never been to a genYTO night before, be prepared for awesomeness. It’s a group that was founded in January 2009 by Erin Bury, Dave Coleman, Renee Warren, Daniel Patricio and myself to combat the negative portrayals of generation Y in the media. Articles were floating around saying we’re self-absorbed, confused, spoiled, lazy, and entitled. Truth is – we are inspired and motivated to drive change in our world. Erin said it well on her blog: “We think we’re actually some of the most driven, hard-working and inspired people out there, so we decided to host a monthly event in Toronto to bring the GenY community out, share ideas, and of course share a couple beverages. The events now get over 100 people out each month and have inspired folks in Ottawa to found the GenYOTT events. “ This time we will have some special announcements. “Funny..because in the word “Jealousy”, there’s lousy. I think the reason why some people get jealous is because they’re not content or they want to experience what you experienced. Jealousy is when you get jealous because s/he went to this awesome place, it’s when s/he has a freakin amazing cool better version gadget, it’s when you wish you have what they have, it’s when you cry over your mommy or daddy because your friend has an ice cream and you don’t, it’s when the guy/girl in your dreams love someone else, it’s when blah blah blah. I think you get it. It’s sounds so silly, isn’t it? But you know it’s all true. Went to the Sailor Jerry thingy last night with Carly. It was ok, not that exciting. Anna took our photo for EXTRA and we had some good chats. They had burgers & stuff but all I had was rumski/coke. Karrera is in town so I booted home to spend the night with her. So awesome. I really miss her now that she moved out west. We’ve been besties sine we were like 12. Planning to attend an exclusive opening with Carly again tonight, hopefully the rain won’t break my stride. Brought Kelly Cutrone’s book for her to borrow. If you’ve not read it, do it, it’s fucking awesome. If You Have to Cry Go Outside. Wearing wellies and a rain coat today, as you would imagine. My Marketing Team at MuchMTV has a burrito lunch together today for our meeting. So hungry. Ya! Ai ai ai ai ai aia ia ai ai ai yeeeeeeeeee!! (That’s me excited for burito). This is me today. Grey hair, glasses, Dr. Martens, tan, smile. I just went to Mc Donalds for lunch. It was tasty as usual, I know it’s bad for me but I like it and i’ve been eating the stuff my whole life and it’s still not “caught up to me”. Life is short, do what makes you happy, eh! The stage is getting set up at work for the MMVA show June 20th. I’m pretty stoked that I’m the Twitter person, it’s the most fun job I reckon. Karrera is coming over tonight. She moved out West in Jan and we’ve been friends since we were kids so it’s pretty exciting. Today when I logged into Tumblr I was like WTF, YOU ARE BLACK NOW? Not that there’s anything wrong with it, I would have said the same thing is it was any colour. The reason Tumblr is black is they are requesting & matching donations for Safe Our Gulf. Woke up and cruised down to the urban umbrella beach to sit in the sun. Been working on stuff/tweeting all afternoon. I’m sending this via mobile cause for some lame reason WordPress is being a jackass and not performing according to my needs. Bitch better pick it up or else I’m moving platforms. I’ve never actually seen Star Wars. I dated this boy way back who despite being in his mid twenties, still has a Star Wars bed spread and sheets. Lightsaber anyone? Haha If you didn’t notice on FB or Twitter or the Gregorian calendar, today is May the Forth. Get it? No, urgh, May the Fourth be with You! Its super nice out again today. I miss my camera. Morning photoshoots had become part of my regular routine. I can’t take full shots of my outfits anymore. Really digging the rooster alarm BTW. I think its funny. I try to do little things here and there to make my day better. Tuesday is my busiest day of the week now that The Hills is back on. Hung out with my sis the other day. Quite hilarious when we hang out, the older we get the more similar, we are, especially our mannerisms and the way we talk. We spend half the time laughing out loud. For real. People always say we sound the same on the phone, especially our parents. More and more we look similar in photos, too, it’s totally crazy going through her pix. It was so nice down by the lake and watching the sunset If you live her or near the water somehwere, go there more often. Jenie took this pic of me, haha. Pop’a colla. There’s nothing like hanging out with her. Our cousin is coming this week FROM NEW ZEALAND. First young cuzzy that’s been over this side of the planet since I was like ten. Super exciting. Hanging out in the beaches with Carly this afternoon. So nice and heaps of trees around, much different than the concrete jungle where I spend mosta my days. ♥

I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been called a whirlwind, or my life as referred to as so. I think it started with Mum years and years ago. I operate on fast speed, I play hard and I rarely hold back on thoughts feelings or anything really. Although, its sometimes hard throwing yourself out there (I get anxiety over it), its also allowed me to be more open, free, wild and live with no regrets. I remember this one saying I heard that said something like ‘you need to be young & foolish in order to be old & wise’. I surely will be very old & wise one day. As for now, urgh, still learning. Thought I lost my phone the other day, we’ve been apart since Sunday night and it’s waiting at my concierge at the moment. I nearly died, and definitely though about dying when I couldn’t find it. I just got a new phone from Telus back in February and would hate to have to ask again! This girl makes me love my new tattoo. I keep thinking about new ones but am not in a rush to get anything. You should see the bruise on my arm where I put the tattoo, it’s yellow and black and disgusting. I got some really EXCITING news this weekend, I’m going to Florida for memorial Day Weekend! Remember last year when I went Fetish Factory? Well, mama’s going again and this time, I’m going with those awesome friends from Boston. Pretty stoked for hot fun in the Sunshine State. YA-Hooters! Last year, about this time, I wrote about Givenchy Play, it was brand new and no one had it yet. Last night at the Buckler show/party for LGFW I got a mini size in my giftbag and I really hope more dudes start wearing it. Buckler link goes to the FB page, their site plays music when you click on it and I hate linking to sites like that. Great style for men though, I recommend checking it out. It’s made for a man but it smells oh so good, I’ve had it in my own rotation. I rewarded Ryan, one of our interns at work with a Play giftset recently. it’s more fun to see you smile

Welcome to a brand new day. What’s new? everything. Exciting times ahead in the world, in my world and probably yours too if you think about it. I’m getting a new tattoo tonight. I’m going to fashion week everyday for the rest of the week. It’s a short week! Testing out two new-ish social media tools for blog & work SocialTalk and Keen Kong; one if for publishing and the other for engagement & listening. This stuff makes me happy. I could barely sleep last night. I’ve got heaps to do but I figure as long as I keep working hard everyday it will all get done. I always wanted to grow up and be the girl who works at MuchMusic and even works on evenings and weekends because she has an agent and her own business and cool friends who are smart and do the same kinda things and lives cool condo downtown Toronto by the water. This is my life and it’s got it’s ups and downs but I choose to make it as exciting as I possibly can. I hope you do too. Damn rainy AGAIN today so I wore bright garden legs! i always wanted to work in fashion until i did

I love this photo. I’m not sure the artist but I wish it was me. I’m polishing off the guestlist fro our FORA sneak peek tomorrow. I’m stoked. Kelly tweeted back to me @mtvcanada saying she’s might wear all pink instead of black. She always wears black. Exciting. I dreamed of fashion, magazines, and my job last night. It was great. Woke up early, put on The City and made a plan to go buy Kelly’s book “If You Have to Cry, Go Outside: And Other Things Your Mother Never Told You”. I remember I had a ‘hard ass’ boss once. It was my first job out of university, I had always wanted to work in Toronto fashion. My boss, she was fierce. Everyone knew not to piss her off. She was strict and opinionated. I leaned a lot from her. Mostly I learned the hard way, by doing things wrong and having her yell at me. That was often preceded by me wiping tears in the bathroom and going back to my desk. It was that job that motivated me to work hard to get out of it. Now that I don’t work for her anymore, I’ve grown to love her. I thought that working in fashion would make me so happy but really, you can always be fashionable you should do a job you love. Ok work time. This is that guy, y’know Dan Levy, he hosts The After Show. I was looking at all the beauty clothes from Holts and drooling imagining wearing them. One day I tell ya, one day I’ll get there; dressed from head to toe in my favorite vintage pieces carefully matched with ridiculously beautiful and expensive designer digs. Ah… Until then, I tried on shoes that didn’t fit whilst still wearing American Apparel sport socks. Yeah, whatever. Louboutin studly slingbacks, love you.

i love playing dress up, photo shoot, model

Really enjoying this weekend time at home. Next weekend I’m at a photo shoot for work. It will undoubtedly be exciting, yet tiring. I’ve always loved dressing up.I was five when I did my first recital for our ballet studio. I competed for a bunch of years when I was growing up. Lipstick, eye shadow, lots of hair gel, tight buns in your hair, fancy costumes and sequins. Such excitement. Next weekend, I’m behind the scenes. I kinda always wanted it to be that way. As much as I love having my photo taken, I really enjoy the production side of things too.

hump day: fashion forward and puking rainbows

I’ve been really busy at work lately. It’s fun for me. Today, I had an awesome gathering at my desk about blog redesign. That stuff gets me really excited. haha. “talk nerdy to me”. I also set up a MuchMusic tumblr. I got included in a big meeting recently about the olympics & social media. Cool stuff. We’ve got another big meeting about social media plans for the Help 4 Haiti telethon. I love being part of all this stuff. One of the MOST exciting things to cross my plate is that MTV Canada is launching a fashion/beauty magazine in March and…[drum roll please]..I’m the Editor in Cheif! Can’t share too many details yet but it’s gonna be fun. I always wanted to work for MuchMusic , dreamt of MTV and visioned work for a fashion magazine…now I do! OMG. It’s alot of work but that means an opportunity to show I can handle it. I just feel sofuckingexcited every day, I almost puke rainbows. Also, #GenyTO anniversary party is coming up (Feb.5) and tomorrow night I’m having a little Jersey Shore Finale/Makeover party. Look out! Girls gonna be gettin’ Snookified! Have a great day xo
