Casie August 19, 2010 LIFE

i love this city.

Rannie took this beautiful photo from our balcony before out shoot yesterday. We took photos for the Vitamin Water Canada blog and in his 140 project. Stay tuned for that. Good day yesterday mostly around the house working on a couple upcoming projects. Went for an evening stroll with Sabrina to Bellwoods and visited a friends roof patio for some wine and sunset. Stopped by CTS on the way, my fav shop. They had a bunch of items that were $1 and I picked up a couple vintage dresses I can totally do a Pretty in Pink switch to. I’m giving Zoey (my sewing machine) a workout this winter. Heading to the Fairlie Agency for a little co-working woith Carly-Anne today. Haircut at 4 with Darren, think I’m gonna buzz it one last time for summer. Dinner with Jeremy and some friends tonight, we finally all get to meet his crush. Loser karaoke after that but I’m gonna have to call it an early night. I still haven’t packed for Bud Camp and we leave at 7am. Check out this vid I make a cameo in by My City Lives. Earlier this summer I sent two people as Casie Stewart Brand Ambassadors to Vans Warped Tour – Mike Albertini & Jordan Rachel. I gave them all access media & back stage. The Van’s Warped Tour is known to have one of the biggest set lists for any concert, with 70+ bands appearing at our hometown Toronto date, there was no shortage of genres represented. From the smooth poppy vocals of newly acclaimed Mike Posner, to the grungy rock sound of Taylor Momsen’s band The Pretty Reckless, fans of all kind gathered to see their favourite bands.I had the opportunity to get all access, backstage, media access with my partner in crime Michael Albertini. One of the first things Mike and I saw was a pretty tough looking dude sporting a “F**K JUSTIN BEIBER” tshirt.. (yes, spelt like that). From then on, we knew that this day would be one for the history books. The first artist we knew we had to see was Mike Posner, and as I suspected, with him came along a following of loyal fangirls. Although fairly new to the scene, or at least to my knowledge of him, he’s had a pretty steady crowd goin’ on. I guess that hit “Cooler Than Me” has really caught on! Soon after, we hit a few other bands such as The Cab, and The Reverend Peyton’s Big Damn Band (They were insane!!!) Then it was time for The Pretty Reckless, and most importantly for us: T.MOM! THOUGHTS BECOME THINGS PEOPLE.

I tried to pull myself away from the computer, thinking I need a damn break. I was feeling all meh. I played Sims Miami party on Nintendo DS in bed, attempted to sketch book, played with phone, paced around, tried not to snack. I found myself back at the computer again and again and that’s where I started putting out good vibes. Do you know what happened next? THEY CAME BACK. A whole slew of good stuff happened today and it flipped my shit mood right on it’s damn stupid head. THOUGHTS BECOME THINGS PEOPLE. Like attracts like. I am so happy right now everytime I get nervous that ‘maybe I can’t do it’ or ‘how the heck is this gonna work’ I remind myself that I can and I will. I finally have the freedom to work on exactly what projects I want, with whom and when. I have dreamed of this and I will not let you down, I will not let me ME down. I close my eyes, cover them with my hands and repeat “this is my life, this is my life“. I got VIP tickets to Metric tonight outta the blue from my gonna-meet-tonight-first-time-new-friend from my home town. Oh internet, I love you so. I love this song too. Playin’ on repeat.

DO YOU HAVE A GUN MISS?

So yesterday I had a really intersting experience going through customs before leaving YYZ. I was very smily and dressed kinda cute as I approaced the dreaded security check at the airport. It always scares me for some reason, there is just something about all the turnstiles and other crowd control measures that puts me on edge! I do understand how important these security checks are though, and after reading this website about security turnstile here I probably know much more about airport security and turnstiles than the average person! Hence, I was extremely pleasant as I emptied all my gear intot the tray, laptop, shoes, small bottled liquids. I was pretty excited to step into the body scanner. It was my first time flying since this had been implemented a few months ago after the underwear bomber. No problems with the body scan but as I turned around it seemed a couple security guards were puzzled by something in my suitcase. First thought, they saw my ‘Hitachi massager‘ and they’re gonna give me a hard time, second thought, my corsets with metal boning have them confused. Neither was the case and as one security guard after another, followed by several police officers went for a look, I began to get scared. WTF are they looking at? I tried to be positive about the whole thing and deffinitley not get emotional. Crying would only make this worse, “keep smiling & don’t look scared” I told myself. A secutiry guard and police officer begun filling out paper work and the questions started coming. Where do I live, what do I do, where was I going & why. They could tell I was getting worried and told me to stay calm, so I tried as my hands were getting real sweaty and…

i’ll love you forever

Today I logged into Facebook as I do every day. I check the pages for work post, make changes etc, then I check my own messages. I had two messages and not spam about some event I don’t care about. One from Dad and one from a friend in New Zealand, her Mum, one of Mum’s oldest friends, passed away yesterday. Her name is Julie. Julie came to visit us a few years ago. It was so much fun to have her around. She came to visit with her daughter and gave us this book called Succulent Wild Woman by SARK. Julie filled the book with gold confetti angels, stuck between pages and all down the spine, throughout the whole book. When we opened they fell all over the floor and it was beautiful. To this day angels turn up around Mum’s house in the darnedest places. “This book is my glowing invitation to you — to live a rich, succulent life! I explore love, sexuality, romance, money, fat, fear and creativity. It’s a little bit like reading my diary — with permission. Succulence is powerful! and so are we as women.” SARK writes a journal and read a bunch of her posts today. They’re happy and inspiring, full of colour and bright thoughts and markers and stars and stuff like that. It’s really weird going to someones Facebook after they’ve passed, I wanted to post on it but I didn’t and it made me feel sad for a minute. Then, I read all the most recent activity and was brightened by her energy. Julie was inspiring to everyone she knew. She had MS and when she got better one time she decided to go on world tour. do you have any religious views?

I’m not into the conformity of religion. I despise people when think going to church forgives all your nasty things like being a jerk, bad parenting, littering, and douchebaggery. I grew up with the influence of be kind, give, share, smile, love, happiness. Basically, that is how I live my life, be kind, love yourself [you are awesome!] and help others where you can, inspire and be inspired by thoughts & things. I had/have very loving parents and a am an older sister. I got to teach things to her growing up and also learn from her. She was my everything growing up, me & Jenie we like peas and carrots. The closest I ever came to religion was studying Kabbalah for a couple years, it changed my life. I have a tattoo on my right wrist of a hai [life in Hebrew] with a pink heart. It is on the right wrist as that works with my circular flow of energy [Left to Right], and in my mind, stamps all my thoughts and feelings coming outward with “love life”. [And you wondered why I was so happy all the time!] That is my religion, loving life. Many of the teachings I learned from Yehuda Berg, my Rabbi Moshe Yogev and my friends at the centre have greatly influenced my life. I shifted my level of consciousness during that time, I changed how I viewed the world, people, objects, my outlook on life. I believe strongly that giving is its own gift, once you give, that in itself is a gift, therefore you have already received. The greatest happiness in my at the moment is seeing those around me succeed, helping them achieve, and inspiring others. I’ve gotten some great emails lately and honestly, I love hearing from you.…

I’m recently watched Objectified, a doc about objects and design. I’ve been waiting, wanting to watch this and sit in my room for ages. Me, my bed, my gadgets; laptop, camera, flipcam, phone, monitor, sketchbook, reading book, memory cards, usb/wall charger. Objects of my affection.
