Bohemian: socially unconventional, one in the arts

Yesterday Sam & I had an awesome lunch at Bohemian Embassy. Cool spot. Right in my Queen West hood at 571 Queen. Foursquare told me it was my first ever German joint. Sehr kühl freundes! Lots of good food & micro brews. Black salt & home made pretzels + mustard. We took them home after. So good, so frisch 🙂 I love want this light fixture. ‘ Tried blood sausage for the first time. I love sausages but the blood part scared me. I had veal schnitzel, Es war so geschmackvoll! The kitchen made us the best Crème brûlée topped with CANDIED BACON. YES CANDIED EFFING BACON> OMFG. I can haz for brekky? Today FabFind has a dealio offering $15 for $30 at Bohemian Embassy. Go check it out. Our awesome server Max said they are pretty busy on weekends. Good date spot. Kate attends The Greatest Make-up Event Ever

Today I braved the rainy rain and marched down to Yonge and Dundas Square for The Body Shop and Virgin Mobile’s Greatest Make-up Event Ever. Celebrity Make-Up Artist, Chase Aston did a little demo and talked about the new Body Shop “Extra Virgin” products. They’re “Extra Virgin” because they contain fair-trade extra virgin olive oil. Cool right? Here’s Chase Aston and his pretty make-up models. After the demo Chase even gave me a mini make-over! Guess how I felt? I love me some mineral powder. So many pretty shades. There was rows upon rows of make-up artists giving some Virgin members make-overs. So much fun! Look at my goodies and fancy name tag. Thanks Body Shop Canada and Virgin Mobile Canada. Follow your heart, use your head.

Woke up feeling pretty inspired today. The chill in the air reminds me winter is around the corner but instead of being down, I though about all the time I’ll spend inside working on new ideas and projects. Winter is hibernation time. Lots of planning new ideas & projects for Spring/Summer.The Einstein photos is from the Incubus show I went to recently, Brandon on drum in the front. Been trying to decide which Docs to get with a gift certificate I have and after seeing this girl, I think I’ve decided. Docs shoes for the win. Will be able to wear them all year and they look cute with socks/tights. Having a BBQ at Mum’s for dinner tonight. Super excited to see her. Sent her flowers yeaterday and the sound in her voice when she thanked me for them was absolutely priceless. When she was away for a year, there were so many times she didn’t have Skype so we weren’t able to chat. The fact that I can ring her at work now is something I cherish very much. Planning to escape north of the city on Sunday for a cottagey getaway. This week I learned something pretty cool. Did you know that filling out those annoying captchas actually is helping to digitize old books and newspapers. Check out this video when you have a few minutes. I love the internet. Toronto International Film Fest: Tastemakers Lounge

When celebrities come to town for TIFF they get invited to lounges to see & receive new & exciting products. Media get invites too. It’s a way for companies to get their products in the hands of stars and journalists. The Tastemakers Lounge is hosted by RockIt and they do an excellent job of bringing together brands & people. I took my PA Kate for the experience it and too take photos. New glasses from FYSH. Thanks Team! I picked out new glasses from FYSH NATION last year too. This is me rockin’ them w/ Morgan Ross at Strombo’s TIFF party. Next it was time to pick out bracelets and charms from PANDORA. Kate took home a few goodies too. Kate chose macrame black leather and I picked sterling silver. See all the styles here. I chose a wee little birdy. Twitter <3 Planning to have some serious game nights this winter cause Mattel has hooked me up with rad games. I picked up and ANGRY BIRDS sling shot! REAL ANGRY BIRDS! I played it at their Mattel Game Night over the summer. It’s fun. Was given this gorgeous silk eyemask from Cilque and OH MY GOD I slept with it last night. My eyes were in the clouds and I had an amazing sleep. I’m dying for a set of Cilque sheets and robe to match. Made friends with team Sharpie. I carry Sharpie’s with me all the time and had one in my purse to proove it. Then Kate and I raided the drawers. Got limited edition 80’s glam colours too! Told the team how I always start out with Sharpie for tattoo ideas. I drew this bracelet tatt on my left arm on with two different green Sharpie’s for about three years before I got it. such a classy lassie wants to get FREAKY.

I first mentioned Freaker a couple months back after seeing this video on Kickstarter. They were lookin’ for donations to kick start their company Freaker USA. Aaaaaaaaaand, they did it! Over $60,000! What impressed me the most was their company culture, Zach’s story and the lingo they used to talk about Freaker. Freakin’ awesome. That’s Zach with the mega beard! These kids know how to have fun. This is how Freaker was born… Today I got a freaky Freaker package in the mail from the Freaker Team. Loved getting a hand written note. Have a jacket to match my new Freaker too 🙂 THANK YOU! ILU ♥

Last week I went into Grindhouse Burger Bar to test out their burgers. They’re in a city wide burger challenge so my friend/owner Rob invited me in to taste the goodness. I was starving at the time so it worked out awesome. No Coke or Pepsi products, Cane Cola has been around for over 100 years and uses real cane sugar. Was impressed to learn that all their menu items are made in-house. This includes ketchup & all the sauces! They have a bunch of fancy burgers but I went for their gourmet big mac style. You know I love my maccas. These onion rings were SO good. 🙂 Grindhouse is one of 4 Toronto Burger joints downtown who are up for to win ‘Best Burger‘ during the Hot & Spicy Food Festival. The winner demos the winning burger recipe with a “Hot & Spicy” side. Event is hosted by Catherine Jheon, writer and content producer for foodnetwork.ca.
