i won the camera, now comes the fun part

It was only January 9, 2009 that I wrote a post titled “hey universe, I need a new camera“. It is amazing what you can do if you set your mind to it. The power of positive thought baby! Special thanks to everyone that voted for me and joined Daily Challenge. It was a close race and as I wanted, I came in second place, scoring me the jazzy new flippy video camera. “This camera is not only super sleek and sexy but was also named “one of the most significant electronic products of the year” by the New York Times and if that wasn’t enough the makers of The Flip are have committed to give away 1,000,000 Flip Video camcorders to qualified nonprofits by 2012. Talk about Do Gooding!” Thanks Daily Challenge!

inspiring change through design and creation

I’m watching this inspiring documentary JonJon sent me. It is all about how waste is food and reducing the amount of waste created. Really interesting, and kind of long, but worth it. As a globe, our natural resources are increasingly becoming less and less available. If we find more ways to reduce, reuse and recycle the products we consume, we will have a more sustainable way of life. They mention how we consistently take and take and do not give back. This needs change. I’m a big advocate for giving and living green. This documentary is really interesting, the innovation and sustainable development blows my mind. Now, the real challenge, getting the masses and corporations to change their manufacturing and energy usage. New challenges arise every day and this is why you should be active and keep on learning. Have an awesome day!

His views are up in the millions and he is quite funny. You know I love darling Barry Obama and this guy is almost the next best thang yo!! It’s amazing the viral effect that something like this can have. He told ET that he has some ‘projects in the works’ and I say good for him. Watch the vid on youtube. I wonder who I could do a video of? Any suggestions? Maybe…lady Gaga or Paris?

it is surely time for change

I love living in Canada and being Canadian. When you look at our influence on the world and how we are perceived on a global scale, we really have alot to be thankful for. If you have travelled to any country other than here, you know how much people really love us Canadians. When I lived in Australia I used to often go through this conversation: Aussie with attitude– “G’day, you American?” Me – “No, I’m from Canada!” Aussie with no attitude – “Great, wanna come for a beer?” (pronounced ‘bear’) Me – “Great!” (thanking god I am from Canada not the US!) I am really proud of Ontario and our stance on being part of the electric car movement. What’s next, portable solar power? Maybe, that would be really cool. If you haven’t seen the news or heard about Better Place. I suggest you educate yourself. Here is an excerpt from the Better Place site regarding Ontario: “Working with Better Place, the Province of Ontario has become the first in Canada to take a step toward sustainable transportation with electric cars powered by renewable energy, or Car 2.0. It’s a forward-looking move that reflects the provincial government’s commitment to create jobs, strengthen an economy where the car industry represents a quarter of all manufacturing output, and end the use of coal-fired electricity by 2014.”

on the burts bus, summer bees

Not too long ago I received a gift package from Burt’s Bees that contained a bunch of products to try out. I put aside my Aveeno the past two weeks and I’ve been using Burt’sBees Naturally Nourishing Milk & Shea butter Body Wash. I like it because it’s 98.5% all natural and not tested on animals. It is really soft on your skin and doesn’t leave it dry. I would have liked if it was a little more foamy for the loofah but that aside, I really like it. It makes my skin feel lovely like on summer days. The sun is shining bright today and it makes me happy. P.S. Anyone up for swimming pools?

this shampoo is great if …

you like a burning itchy head For the past two weeks I’ve been using Dove Advanced Colour Therapy shampoo for light hair and I’m officially ready to toss it. My hair feels pretty normal, its short and low maintenance, however, my head, it feels like I have a sunburn. I stopped using it but it absolutely made my head itchy and hurt. If this is something you like, try this shampoo. If not, try Aveeno. I usually use Aveeno Skin Relief body wash on my hair, makes it nice and soft.

the tall tower is timeless, technology takes us higher

I look out my window and stare at the tower all the time. I was thinking how crappy their website for the unit was several months ago, they must have heard me say that because they updated it. Every night at the top of the hour there is a crazy laser light show that I absolutely love. I have been studying it (its right out my window OK!!) and it seems to be getting more complex and adding more colours & designs all the time. Here are my favorite facts: Millions of colours and infinite effects Microprocessor controlled, each fixture can produce 16.7 million colours. Intelligent digital control makes the system programmable from a single computer console. Each fixture has a unique “address” that can be programmed individually to create an infinite variety of lighting effects Directional lighting Unlike conventional light sources, one of the unique benefits of LEDs is that they are directional; light output can be controlled and precisely directed. Therefore the resulting lighting will illuminate the Tower while ensuring light output does not “spill” or interfere with nearby hotels, office towers or residences. Low maintenance The LED technology installed at the CN Tower is designed to achieve excellent performance standards and with its intended use is expected to last in excess of 10 years, requiring minimal fixture replacement and maintenance. Unlike conventional lighting systems, the new system will not require frequent replacement and disposal of light bulbs. Find out more information including how you can get the lights programmed for your event by visiting the site.

More and More on the Redness

The Red String protects us from the influences of the Evil Eye. Evil eye is a very powerful negative force. It refers to the unfriendly stare and unkind glances we sometimes get from people around us. Envious eyes and looks of ill will affect us, stopping us from realizing our full potential in every area of our life.[more] HOW TO: Have someone you love to tie the Red String to your left wrist. First, have them tie the string closely around your wrist with a simple knot. Repeat by knotting the string six more times for a total of seven knots. Now make a promise to yourself that you will refrain from negative thoughts or talk about others. This harmful behavior will interfere with your effort to gain personal fulfillment and protection. Then have the person finish by saying the Ben Porat Prayer (read from right to left) which prevents others from giving us the evil eye.[more]

Oh winter, why dry?

This time of year is always the worst for dry skin. A few weeks back I received a Burt’s Bees survival filled with Burt’s bees products for me to test out. I have been using the Milk & Honey Body lotion the most. I keep it in my purse or at the office. It really leaves your skin feeling hydrated, absorbs quickly, and is not greasy. The lotion is specially formulated for normal to dry skin and includes “Aloe Vera and Vitamin E, formulated to leave rough, flaky skin soft and smooth, naturally. ” I recommend you give it a try this winter. Take care of your skin & take care of yourself!!

canada smokes europe!

Received my update from the Economist on the hottest stories and there was something a bit interesting today… Turns out there is alot of pot smoking going on in Europe. After all, I have seen a lot of cannabis related branded products. I learned “cannabis use in Europe remains high by historical standards, according to a new report on drug use from the EU’s drug-monitoring arm. Around a quarter of all Europeans aged between 15 and 64, or some 72m people, have tried cannabis. Meanwhile, more and more people in the US are going to a west wendover dispensary and other locales, in stark contrast to their EU counterparts. The Dutch are not the keenest spliff smokers in Europe, despite lenient laws: the Danes, French and Britons are most likely to have puffed on a joint at some point in their lives. The highest levels of usage are reported among people between the ages of 15 and 24.” I think that in Canada we might just smoke then in this category. Being that it is legal in most Canadian provinces, residents are able to consume their cannabis is many different ways, such as through these dab pens sold at slickvapes.comFrom what I hear, we smoke alot of pot, so I did some research. Turns out, I am right. I’m always learning about the latest cannabis products and there are so many on the market at the minute. My friend recently got a cannabis subscription box from https://flowerpwr.ca/ and she loves it. It seems like everyone I know is smoking cannabis at the minute! CBC reports from the UN, “Canadians use marijuana at four times the world average, making Canada the leader of the industrialized world in cannabis consumption, a recent United Nations report found. The 2007 World Drug Report by…

WHAT IS M O V E M B E R ?

“Movember (the month formerly known as November) is a moustache growing charity event held during November each year that raises funds and awareness for men’s health.” The Movember Foundation was started in Australia in 2004. It is a not for profit, charitable organization that implements a month long event called Movember each year in the month of November. Movember’s goal is to raise awareness around men’s health issues and raises funds charities chosen by each country involved, focussing primarily on prostate cancer. Before the Movember movement, prostate cancer was pretty unknown and not talked about. Now, due to the raised awareness, it is hoped that men know the signs and when to access help. Symptoms don’t usually present themselves until the cancer has grown big enough to put pressure on the urethra, which then causes issues with needing to urinate more frquently and having issues when urinating. If you suspect you may have prostate cancer, it is highly advised that you visit a urologist like Advanced Urology who will handle your situation with care and compassion, and talk you through diagnosis and treatment methods. However, these symptoms don’t automatically mean prostate cancer, although it is advised that you visit a urologist anyway to find the cause (which usually involves prostate enlargement). Movember unites men and encourages discussions on any prostate related topic. Even discussing remedies such as prostagenix is encouraged. Additionally, by raising awareness about prostate health, it is hoped that more men will be encouraged to get in touch with a doctor if they notice any issues so that any ailments can be addressed and treated. For example, although an enlarged prostate can be a sign of cancer, sometimes this enlargement can be benign. Above all, it can sometimes be reassuring to learn that the risk of prostate cancer…
