Tech | Ticket to the Art of Sales Conference for Tuesday

There’s a bunch of great people who make these massive events happen. Tuesday at MTCC is The Art of Sales, a unique one-day conference featuring five amazing international speakers. One of them is NYT best selling author Seth Goodin (125k+ on @Twitter). I’ve never met Seth but I know his blog and he also works with SAY Media. I have 2 tickets for you to attend. If you would like to go then watch this and tell me your favourite part in the comments. I will take both winners out for lunch on conference day. Approximate value of each prize = $450/ticket + lunch experience/pricele$$. BONUS! Conference is at Metro Toronto Convention Centre and goes from 8:30am-4:30pm, Tuesday November 22. [How is it almost DECEMBER? ahh.] If you are in sales you probably have a fav line and will like that I posted this. If you are in sales and you have NOT seem this then… PUT THAT COFFEE DOWN. Coffee’s for closers only. If you have never commented, it’s easy, don’t like, be shy. I’m not shy. Winning is fun. Watch the video leave’ a commento and win. Voila!

First post using WordPress app on iPhone. I love this thing so much. It’s true once you go Mac you never go back! Had a beautiful day at home yesterday. In he evening went to Swarovski Spring Summer 2012 preview with Keri and a bunch of other Toronto fashion bloggers. I have a very special gif in the making as a thank you for the lovely gift they gave me. Ditched going to any other events to watch movies with Sammy. I’ve been in vacation mood for a few days and it feels so good. Off to get a mani, pedi, tan and pack before 3pm. Boston Bob is in town and meeting my sister and I for dinner. Happy Friday my friends. Be in love with life!! <3 Casie

this is how we do it

Last week I did a shoot with FAJO Magazine for a feature on Toronto fashion bloggers called ‘10 Items, 5 Bloggers, 1 City“. They also talked to Jay, Anita, Leesa and Backseat Stylers blogger Sharon.  They asked me all kinds of questions about blogging and photographed me with ten of my fav items from my own closet. Photos were taken Allen Gardens conservatory. I’d never been there and recently found out it’s open all year. I’m deff gonna pop by this winter to get past the winter blues. Being around all the flowers & greenery is so beautiful! Photo credit to Kareen Mallon. Kate & I went to the launch of Dance  Central 2 the other day & High Road posted this vid today. Runner up in the contest was ME and I now have a Kinect too. Gonna play some tonight. It’s a really good workout for lazy people. Must go outside and get some sunshine. I have a mega clean to do tonight. My whole house is covered in glitter, blood, costumes and wigs. I love Halloween, might have gone harer than ever this year. Five parties & costumes in four days. It was wonderful 🙂

find what you love

Kate sent this to me this morning and said it reminded her of us. We both love Gubler too. I had a lunch interview with a lovely journo today who writes for a major Canadian magazine about personal brands, social media & my job. It’s interesting that the idea of a ‘personal branding’ has become so popular, a term that wasn’t used nearly as much five years ago. I always get asked in interviews “where do you see yourself in five years?”, a question I can’t really answer. I like to say ‘happy and with money in the bank”. I dreamed about doing what I do now, I thought about how great it would feel to work from home and travel and make my own hours, be in ads, host sponsored events and get lots of stuff in the mail. I dreamed about it and I really believe thoughts become things and when you set your mind to something, you can achieve it. I didn’t blog much this weekend or take many photos. Yesterday I had a nice brekky with Barbie & Sammy at the Fox on Fort York. Sam & I walked around in the sunshine for the afternoon & checked out ‘no car Kensington’ as he likes to call it. There was heaps to see and photograph but I didn’t feel like being a ‘blogger’. I soaked up the experience and sunshine and it was lovely. Went to see Sheldon’s drag show at Woody’s in the Village last night. Hung out with a whole bunch of hot Aussie boys, it was great. Tonight heading to Underground Cinema for Rocky Horror then Baby Huey’s (Elliott is DJing). Hope you’re having an awesome day. Coming up next, costume wrap-up!

Dear Boss,

I’d like thank you for how much I’ve grown working with you over the past six years. Your consistent hustle day in and day out has taken us around the world together and opened up possibilites that were once only real in your dreams. I started out part time but you gave me more attention as the years went by, allowing me to flourish into something that is full of excitement, culture and passion. I’m excited about where we will go together. I know it isn’t easy running your own business and sometimes you don’t feel like it, but I believe in you. You have shown many people that when you put your mind to something you can achieve anything, any for that, I am thankful. I am an extension of you and when you look back many years from now I hope you feel proud of us. Keep up the good work and go get yourself a manicure. My treat!

I won a car live on YouTube, not even kidding.

Remember how I was like “Come to YD Square, first youtube.ca live event ever” blah blah blah. Well, let this be your lesson that you should listen to me more often.  Well, I went and test drove the new Chevy Volt during the #chevroletallday event. It’s electric and was really quiet & smooth to drive, had some kick too. Vrooooooom. Keri drove too. She’s a really good driver. Cute graffiti artist boy who was part of my Arm Yourself event at YD Square last year was there. This guy 🙂 Still cute. Three finalists who answered their phones after txting in were called up on stage. First up, didn’t start the car, next was me, my key started it. OH MY GAWDDDD. Check me out in my new Chevy Sonic. It’s small & cute which is exactly what I would want if I was going to get a car. I’m really excited to roadtrip! Me & the lovely Peter Cornu, Manager of Special Events for General Motors of Canada. Hey Peter, let’s work together! I’m in shock that I won and all kinds of grown up questions are coming at me from everyone. I don’t know If I can take a buy out, I have no idea about insurance, I don’t think it’s a lease,  yes I want sunroof, no I can’t come pick you up yet, and I think I get it soon. OMFG I WON A CAR. For SURE getting a lotto ticket for tonight. If I win lotto you can go ahead & hate me but I promise to do good with the money 🙂   [all photos (except the cute grafitti guy from last year) taken October 4, 2011  by Richard Budman for Chevrolet Canada

expansion of the universe is accelerating

It’s hard to wake up, I could stay in bed all day but NO! Meeting Keri for coffee and gonna drive some cars. Remember last time we drove cars? Took a few veee-dubs round a race track with a pro driver. See Das Awesome for the vids. BTW did you see that Scientists in the US and Australia won the Nobel Prize in Physics “for the discovery of the accelerating expansion of the universe,” SMH has the full story. Who knew Aussies were so smart, hahaha. I kid, I kid, I love Australia. #kiwi Once again I’m running behind because I’m addicted to documenting. Need to get camera ready for my live debut on youtube.ca. I’ll Tweet before I go on so you can tab your browser to youtube.ca and see ME! Want me to give you a shoutout? I should be getting ready, I’m addicted to blogging…

I love this time of year. For me it’s all about working hard, trying to get the most done, cleaning clutter and getting ready to hibernate and foster ideas for the winter. You too? Keri‘s inspired me to get rid of heaps of crap. She’s ditching EVERYTHING. Went to her emporium yesterday, picked up few nic nak’s plus a couch and bed stuff. Lauren is moving too and I scored a book shelf from her. Oh yeah! Thanks besties 🙂 The next week is mega re-org of all my things.  Got this yesterday! Yippee. Casie Stewart: This Is My Life has been nominated for the 2011 Canadian Weblog Awards in the Life category. The 2011 Canadian Weblog Awards are a juried competition with nominations open in 37 categories between January 1st and October 31st, 2011. The nominees shortlist will be announced on December 1st, 2011, and the winners will be announced on January 1, 2012.    I told myself  (and you) I’d start the Total Cleanse juices today but it needs to be Sunday post Nuit Blanche. I’ll be up all night and there’s a good chance I might have a drinks. I’m also at conference most the afternoon and … I know I’m making excuses. SHUT UP CASIE!! Looking forward to it though.  I’ll be drinking these six juices for three days. They look yummy! I’m seriously going to try & follow the rules. I am writing this down so I must stay true to my word, and you, blog. Sunday I’m hosting the film screening for Measuring Tape Girl at the National Film Board so I won’t be up THAT late. If you are on camera and up late the night before IT SHOWS BIG TIME. I learned that the hard way. I really need to get off the computer…

these are a few of my favourite things (right now)

This post if full of things that add glitter to my life. Thought I’d share with ya. Bangs from Doll Bar, Olympus PEN, vintage hats. I’ve been trying a new routine of going to bed earlier and waking up earlier. Once you get outta bed, you can really accomplish heaps before the day really started. That’s my September goal: do more before 10am than most people do in a whole day. My October goal is: go to England or New Zealand. Settin’ em high. YES WE CAN. Sprocket Rocket camera from Lomography. I’ve got heaps of film because, frankly, I’m not that good at using the camera so I need to take heaps of shots before I can be considered good. Analogue is haaaarrrrrrd. New duvet cover is the alphabet, say hello to my ALPHA bed. See what I did there? Oh yeah, creative play on words. New flowery pillow looks painted and that eye mask is from Keri. I sleep with an eye mask pretty much every night. I live in a glass box, it’s SO SUPER sunny in the AM! Although, getting to sleep is never a problem thanks to my new memory foam mattress. According to bestmattress-reviews, there are a number of quality options at a lower price than you’d think. Gadget love: iPad (Andy), Macbook Air (James Dean), Android (Motorola DEFY), Logitech wireless mouse. I spend most the day with these guys. Ok, here’s something really amazing….you won’t BELIVE how tall I am with these legendary things strapped on. Aren’t they beautiful? They’re Jeffrey Campbell and I ordered them online at Solestruck. They’re like stilts. Move over Buskerfest. Comfy and good for walking. Film Fest, I am ready for you with my giant shoes. I’ve been using Mereadesso cleanser w/ face & neck toning gel and…

Panel on Panels at MaRS in Toronto

Last night’s panel discussion on panel discussions (meta) went really well. I was happy to chat a few people after who said they really learned something. Thanks to Johnny Bunning aka @emanintdot for snapping this photos of us. I forgot to get someone to take a few shots. Doh! I love sharing things I’ve learned over the past few years. I’ve learned heaps about blogging, the social web and building your personal brand. I’ve been invited to speak at the She’s Connected Conference in the Fall that brings together all kinda of females in business. Hope to speak at more conferences in the coming year. I’m a natural on stage! Although I love vacation, I really love working and it’s great to be back at my home office. It’s been a busy day with lots of phone calls. Planning some cool stuff for the next month. I wanna get in as many things as I can before the summer is over. I love this heat too. No chance of complaints from this lady! I watched this again and I feel like Optimism Girl today. If you’re not smiling, you will be after you watch this. Enjoy the day 🙂

Remember how I’ve been saying I wanna be on TV for the last few weeks (months)… Mum ring me early this morning all excited after watching it online. Ben referred to me as “famed blogger Casie Stewart”.  Head explode! Name was spelled “Casey” for a second at the start but said they will make sure it’s fixed next time. There WILL be a next time. SM Expert FTW. I love TV and the internet. Watch it here on CTV: Social media & the Royals.

today in blog news – i updated!

I updated to the new WordPress 3.2. The way it looks when I type before I publish is a bit different, I hear there are a few other new things too. It’s more like writing a document now. I feel like a reporter. I am reporting life of/on/in the internet. eTalk called me a Social Media Expert last night.  No argument.  I’m happy with how it went. Will post soon for Mum & anyone else outside Canada or doesn’t have TV.  The host Ben referred to me as “Stewart” and after calling me “famed blogger” they put my site on screen National TV. HI CANADA! I was using webOS on a new HP tablet. A bunch of people were them at an HP Blogger event last night.  I am still using iPad. My friend the CellGuru thinks I’ll learn to love HP’s TouchPad better. I dunno, we’ll see. Y’all know Andy is my iPad boyfriend.  One of the reasons I love him is because he has so many apps. We have heaps of fun together on Flipboard, Twitter, signing Autographs, watching Netflix, playing games. I can’t see myself without him and I don’t know if I’m ready to date anyone else. I’m planning to clean my desk this weekend. I do not like having a messy work area. It clouds my head trapping my thoughts from getting through my fingers to the screen. I’ve been saving these gifts to treat myself. These need to be dealt with. These need to be played with. Tonight I’m heading to the Spoke Club for Mark’s fall preview. Picked out some really great items from Mark’s last year before I went to NZFW. Impressed with how well they’ve washed, worn & stood up to my busy lifestyle. Remember: You are younger today than you will ever…

finally found the magazine cover i was on in new zealand

This article ran last year after New Zealand Fashion Week about bloggers & how fashion’s front row is changing. I never did get a hard copy! The Tempo magazine is inside the NZ Herald that comes on weekends (I think!). One of my cousins got it delivered to her house. How awesome is that? Her Canadian cuz gracing the pages of her mail. Would love to get back to NZ this year for NZFW. Air NZ isn’t the travel partner so that puts a wee damper in getting there. I had the best time last year. See my coverage here. If you click the image will take you to article on stuff.co.nz. Have an awesome day!

Tech | Social Media Day -Toronto is one of most most social in the world.

I’d like to think I had something to do with that. I kid, I kid. We’re SO online and our  Social media Day meetup is SO BIG that Mashable wrote about us today. We Toronto peeps know how to have fun. Get social baby. Props to Michael Nus & Dan Levy for putting this together. Last year I spoke about running the social media for MuchMusic & MTV Canada & this year I’m speaking about building a personal brand. Over 350 people are attending so it’s gonna, kinda a big deal. Wish Mum was here to see me in action. I’m sure someone will have on video. Last year I was JUST getting into speaking and has my hands in my pockets the whole time. Won’t do that again. What am I going to wear? I should really have planned this out. Hope to meet some new peeps & will for sure see a bunch of familiar faces. Looking forward to it. If you have any questions, ask away! The blog days are over.

I went to bed fuming last night. Blood was boiling. I never tell you when I get angry, I think I’m going to start. To be honest though, it doesn’t happen too often. I had a few conversations with agencies & clients over the last few days that made me wonder what the hell I’m doing. Also made me wonder what the hell they are doing? I have heaps of PR friends in the city and I’m starting to wonder about those relationships. They’re in meetings coming up with all these expensive & fun campaigns for big name clients with the intent to do blogger outreach & connect with ‘top influencers’ but not putting any budget in the plan for that. Gimme a break.  Do you work for free? Why should we? This morning I logged into WordPress (blog publishing platform), like I have done every day for years and had a different feeling about it. Last night after talking with Mum and friends, I didn’t know if I’d be back to publish today.  I didn’t feel like it. Clearly, I am addicted to publishing and love writing so I’m back but I’m different. Every morning I read Mashable on Flipboard via my ipad and this morning they published an article that touches on exactly what had my blood boiling yesterday. How Social Media Is Changing Paid, Earned & Owned Media Those in the marketing and agency world are privy to the buzzwords “paid,” “earned” and owned.” Traditionally, they stand for the different types of media and can be easily broken down like this: Paid: Buying a 30-second Super Bowl spot Earned: Coverage on Mashable Owned: Your company’s website You should read it, especially if you work in PR, media or are one of my wonderful friends at an agency who regularly ask…
