Live in Colour, Brown Eyed Girl

When I was young we used to go camping every summer near Orangeville. All the Kiwis and Aussies my parents knew got together for the Down Under Summer Games where we had a traditional Maori Hāngi, gumboot toss, and my sister and I performed with the Maori Culture Club. It was so much fun! My Grandpa Doug converted a school bus into a camper with kitchen and we drove that up a few times singing oldies the whole way. Brown Eyed Girl by Van Morrison was one of our favourites. Air Optix Colors encourages you to Live In Color and as you know, that’s something true in my life too. My closet is full of bright colours and sometimes my hair too. Nina Dobrev also wears them, and takes selfies. After trying almost* all the Air Optix Color contacts the last few months, I gotta say, I like brown eyes too. Tried them last thinking they’d be the least noticeable but they’ve got a nice look to them, have never seen my eyes this dark. The science behind the contacts design works to enhance your eyes in three ways where the outer ring defines, primary colour transforms, and the inner ring brightens. Important to take care of those peepers too! Travel Tuesday: Vacations Aren’t Just for Soaking Up Sun!

Dreaming of an experiential vacation – wine tasting in Italy, yoga in India, surfing in Costa Rica, visiting Lower Shotover New Zealand to go Bungee Jumping? People often think of vacations as a jaunt away to soak up the sun but one way to REALLY enrich your life is a vacation where you learn something or take on a new experience. An RV vacation is a very popular choice for many people who want to go and see new sights and cultures from the comfort of their own vehicle. Those that do embark on such a vacation will want to make sure they have quality equipment, like Lifeline rv batteries, on board before doing so. A couple years ago I went on a solo surf + yoga vacation to Costa Rica, it was so much fun. Visiting this country was on my bucket list and I had always wanted to tick it off. With this being said, if it wasn’t for a friend of mine recommending I checked out a site like https://små-lån.com (as she knew I was struggling financially), I don’t think this trip would have been possible, but I am glad that I was able to make this happen. While I was there, I learnt how to do aerial silks and perfected my wave riding skills in the ocean. This was the little cabin I stayed at in the jungle at Anamaya Resort. In 2013, I ventured to Thailand and took a cooking class in one of my fav cuisines. I came home with new skills and a bright outlook on a different culture. I recently chatted with TD Canada Trust about how to make an experiential vacation a reality. These types of vacations are often seen as more costly and harder to plan. BUT, if you knuckle…

On Day 2 There Were Wearables & Edibles + The #SelfieStickSpin

Day 2 of 2015 started and ended great. It was beautifully sunny when I got up. Made Embot some brekky and dropped her at school. With my reclaimed love for granola, stopped by to pick up a few groceries, came home made a nice brekky and got to work. Selfie stick put to use to capture the sunshine. I have a feeling it’s only a matter time before we see “no selfie stick” signs or theres an assault with a selfie stick. They’re really intrusive and super annoying when travelling. People on phones are already a bother, add in a metal rod with a phone on it and things get a lot more hairy. I admit I’m fully part of the problem here but for the record, I am a documentarian observing culture and selfies are part of my work. 🙂 Decided I missed violet hair and tinted it again. It’s a bit brighter than I expected, it’ll fade with each wash though. This photo makes it look almost neon. I must remember this for next time. Later in the evening I headed East to visit my sister. We went for fish n’ chips (or fush n cups as they say in NZ!) and laughed our heads off while casually watching hockey. Not because the hockey was funny but when us sisters get together we can’t help but have a hilarious time.  Yay Canada for the win. In 2015, fashion & food come together for the latest in wearable edibles. Onion ring jewellery! Ate these right off my arm bc they were burning. And delicious. Moderation is key when it comes to healthy eating. Nothing wrong with throwing down some greasy goodness here and there. I think there’s no real point in limiting the things I love in life. YOLO! I was showing…

The report also states that Bieber and his father were “extremely abusive” to a flight attendant. We Wouldn’t Be Seen Dead Here in The Day

Another night another costume! Brock, Lozzie and I went to the Rue Morgue/Netflix Canada party at Courthouse. It was SO GOOD. I have never been to a Halloween party with so many ahhhhhhmazing costumes. Honestly, there were heaps. I saw a few peeps that didn’t recognize me until I started talking to their face. I love Halloween so much. I am not a religious person but if there is one thing that I practice, it’s Halloween! It’s at least a week-long celebration every year. Roxy, Lauren, Becca There was some craaaaaaazy stuff happening at the Rue Morgue party. This girl above was getting tortured. The girl below had a glass box put on her head then it was filled with bugs while she was tied to a chair. No escape/terrifying. Another girl had REAL leeches stuck to her body then ripped off. Scary! SIMPSONS FAMILY. He actually had sound bites in his costume. He made the finals. I ain’t ‘fraid no ghost. Brockbusters! Day of the Dead (Spanish: Día de Muertos) is a Mexican holiday celebrated throughout Mexico and around the world in other cultures. The holiday focuses on gatherings of family and friends to pray for and remember friends and family members who have died. It is particularly celebrated in Mexico, where the day is a bank holiday. The celebration takes place on October 31, November 1 and November 2, in connection with the Christian triduum of Hallowmas: All Hallows’ Eve, All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day.[1][2] We were going to the ladies room and this huge guy in a straight jacket and chains ran at us. I was terrified and actually scurried to hide behind something. It was so creepy. He was locked in a cage the rest of the night. Ahhhhhhhhhhhh. SHARKNADOOOOOOOO! MILEYYYYY. Tim Horton’s Hallowselfie. The Perks of Being an Influencer

Today a special edition of Marketing Magazine came out and it’s all about social media! If you turn to page 28, you’ll see a one pager titled “The Perks of Being an Influencer” and it’s all about me. (Note yesterday’s post about the film!) It details some of the campaigns I’ve been a part of over the last few years and a bit about my new role at Community as Director of Social Media. Thank you Marketing Magazine for featuring me! Photo was shot by the wonderful Steve Carty. This was the line for my autograph… (OK IT WAS REALLY THE LUNCH LINE) Was happy to attend the Marketing Mag Social Media Conference on behalf of Community.  Caught an awesome talk by Lauren O about memes & webculture and heard Erin Bury speak about ‘what’s next’ for the web. Thanks Russ Martin for writing my feature and  to Grant LeRiche (TubeMogul) for my ticket (both below). Go pick up a copy if you are interested in the internet AT ALL. It’s full of great features about the web, bloggers, social media, and of course marketing! CASIE 🙂

P0rn Theatre Halloween Party, October 31 #PTHP

If you’re wondering what to do for Wicked Wednesday next week on Halloween, do not look any further than the darkness that lies within and old p0rn theatre in Korea town. Yes, an old P0RN Theatre. I’ve never beet to one I swear. No, seriously. Never. I may have seen my fair share of PORN 7 videos, but I’ve never actually gone to a porn theatre of my own. Although, I have to admit no amount of porn could ever compare to the services offered by doha escorts. ‘After years of cautiously observing this beautifully designed 1930’s theatre in the Annex, I finally have a reason to attend.’ – Margaret Atwood ‘This will be the first time I have ever attended a event at this location while there will be living females in attendance’ – Ron Sexsmith Hosted by young legend Brock McLaughlin, and Canadian folk rocker Morgan Cameron Ross, and Kate Snack, this is where you want to be. Brock has assured me that it will be a night you don’t wanna miss and there will be lots of eye candy. (heh heh) Brock has hosted a ton of parties over the last year and they are always fun. So fun that I often don’t tell anyone about them until after, or ever. I feel like I am passing on the torch as I type this but I have no doubt it will be more fun than a barrel of monkeys anything. Seriously though, look at these studs… Find more free XXX videos right here if you like sexual content. The party got a mention in The Grid’s top spooky things this week, see Paul’s writeup below. Get all the gory details on the PTHP Facebook. Tickets are $10 and it starts at 10pm. HAPPY HALLOWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEN!

Nuit Blanche 2012 – My Plan for the Night

Tonight is Nuit Blanche and the city is alive with art installaions, music, and culture. It’s one of my fvaourite Toronto events and I’ve taken part since it started back in 2008. Tonight I’m starting with The Tragically Hip and Molson Canadian at Sound Academy. The show isn’t a Nuit Blache event but those are tickets I won’t pass up! My portrait is featured in an installation called Life Lessons at Funding Matters Gallery  (Zone C 29).  Life Lessons features 311 portraits of community figures who have helped shape the city of Toronto. Other notables ar Margaret Atwood, David Miller, Douglas Coupland, Justin Bieber, Atom Egoyan, George Strombo, David Mirvish, Susur Lee, and Karen Kain. I am extremely honoured to be in this amazing group! The project will be exhibited using Sony HD TV screens displaying life-sized images of each subject at print-quality resolution. When:     September 29th, 2012 Time:       7:03 PM Location:  FUNDING matters GALLERY – 33 DUNDAS ST E, TORONTO ON   M5A 2A2 (East of Sherbourne, South side)  See the event page on Facebook to view portraits of other notable people in the Toronto community.  LIFE LESSONS PORTRAIT by TOMORI NAGAMOTO:  One of my fav years was 2009 when I went to U of T then ran into my sister on Queen Street at 3am. Another fav was 2010 when we filmed the video that won me the Virgin America Provocateur title. Here’s a little art history on my Nuit Blanche adventures. [View the story “Art History: Nuit Blanche & Borderline Artistic” on Storify] After the Hip and Life Lesson’s exhibit, I’ll be heading to Camera Parts on Queen Street for Drambuie’s Extraordinary Night pop-up installation. It’s definitely something you want to check out as you’re cruising around. We posted about it on the Pulp&Fiber blog at work. Come by to discover your extraordinary…

SummerWorks 2012

I hope you took my advice and went to something at SummerWorks this year. As someone new to the theatre scene,  SummerWorks introduced me to a culture of awesome in the city. It was amazing to see so much talent from around the world brought together through art. I wish I could have seen every show and performance. Huge congrats to SummerWorks Theatre Festival Team! If you didn’t experience the festival, now you know for next year! My letters from the Letter Writing party should arrive this week! I loved the creativity in the live art sessions, Dare Night Lockdown, Letter Writing. Taking part in them infused a childlike fun that I feel people lose when they grow up. Don’t ever lose that. Festivals like this open your mind and heart to see things that inspire your life. You are not getting younger but you can always get awesomer. <3 CASIE
