Ich Bin in Berlin

Hallo from Germany!!! Fashion Week in Berlin kicked off today–EXCITING! Since I’ve been anxiously waiting 4 months since my arrival, I’m totally pumped to be covering BFW! In true #ALT fashion I wasn’t even going to attend any shows or parties tonight–after all, even though it is opening night, it’s almost better to be too cool to bother going to the mainstream stuff. Instead of making my way down to the defunct airplane hangar playing host to the international trade fair Bread & Butter, I decided to walk around Kreuzberg (read: hipster’s playground) and see what came my way. It turned out that right around the corner after having a sushi dinner was an awesome photography exhibition party starring the edgy fashion photographer Tea Xuxu Nanuti happening at Galleria Butterfly Summit, a multi purpose gallery & store for design, art and photography. Took a few snaps, had a few shots, all and all it was a great little warm up for what’s to come this week. Auf wiedersehen for now my lieblings… xoxo jgrdnr PS. They arrived! Now I don’t have to wear my old vintage scratched up Waldo glasses anymore! :36 sec unboxing new glasses from clearly contacts Yes, they are real prescription but the prescription is almost invisible. New RayBans are my first official pair. I think they might be a little big for small head. NOT A BIG HEAD! haha. Thanks Clearly Contacts! I love wearing glasses when I work, they help me concentrate. I often wear a hat or cover my head when I work too. Don’t even challenge me in a ‘I’m the weirdest’ competition. About two years ago I got new glasses and made this video. My Dad MADE the car on my shirt. Ok bye. Time to work with glasses on and work before I go to Raymi’s house then Lauren’s house to watch them BOTH on MTV CREEPS TONIGHT 9:30. K. Bye for real!

Entrepreneurs Don’t Call in Sick, They Work

When you work for yourself you can’t really call in sick. I felt a bit of a cold coming on when I woke up so I’m going to work from bed today with hope of kicking this by tomorrow. In Boston this weekend and a cold is not an accessory I’d like to pack. Y’know what I’m sayin’? I’m cookin’ up lots of fun stuff to share with you over the next coming weeks. Thinking that my new classes from Clearly Contacts will arrive today. I might whip up a nice home made soup this afternoon. If you are AT ALL feeling sick here’s two cures from my darling Mum that will kill those bad germs like the soldiers in Louie Pasteur kids book (it was my fav!). Last pic in the hotel before Leaving Las Vegas. Classic movie. My hair is slowly growing crazy, crazy growing slowly. Hurry up. Gelatin will make you hair & nails grow fast. Buying Jello tomorrow. Whenever I’m in the USA people always stop & compliment my hair. It’s unique there I guess. I see cute short haired blonde girls in Toronto and on the internet all the time so it always catches me off guard. Roots are quite popular too. Getting them done by Darren Kwik this week. The night before I left was CRAZY. When I got to the door at TAO I gave the word I was here and a tall hot VIP host named Logan walked me through the crowd to the private party. (Exactly how I imagined it should would be in Vegas TBH.) I remember always ready about Paris Hilton hanging out there. Thanks NextGen & my friends for a fun night. Met some rad people. The dance floor was insane, so crowded. I only went there for 5 minutes at a time before scurrying back to bottle service. I don’t care if that sounds snobby, it was awesome and I was livin’ it up. A Little Razzle Dazzle in the Press

Sitting in the Product Development Centre at the Henry Ford Museum listening to a panel discussion on creativity, design, ideas, innovation & inspiration. It’s pretty neat because it’s not all Ford people there’s a mix of ages & backgrounds. I’m not gonna go into detail on it now so I can actually pay attention. This photo was posted yesterday by Ford Europe from the Fusion press conference yesterday. Overalls from H&M, shirt StyleMint & vintage scarf from CTS. Today I was quoted in the Detroit Free Press and the article is here. There’s a video of Joallore too. Party like it’s 2012! Dim sum dance party w/ Mansion

We had all the blonde blogging babies out that night. Love those babies. Last night I watched Swingers and now all I wanna do is call my besties babies. All our boys were there too. Love these love birds. Lozzie & Seany. Emma is one of my style ICONS. You can find her managing my fav vintage shop @CTS_Queen. She is a beauty and always has the most rad outfits. She picked out my gold dress for the night from the shop, I cut it and added a bow + belt. Check the dance move of the guy in the background above. Ha! These dudes were part of the dancing dragons. We were really at a Dim Sum spot. I didn’t eat any, I’m not really into Dim Sum. I heard there were serving lobster too. DANCING DRAGONS!! Cruise Control: Chevy Sonic, Hot Rods, Open Roads

Woke up pretty early and drove to Dad’s. It was so beautiful out yesterday, temp was about 4 degrees and I had the sunroof open. I’m completely in love with driving the Chevy Sonic. It’s small & zippy, good pickup I feel like it’s a little rally car. This is the exact vehicle I won in September from Chevrolet Canada live on youtube. I’ve never really needed a car, I lived with parents and the beach in Australia before moving downtown Toronto. I mostly walk, ride bikes or streetcar everywhere I go. It’s my first time using Bluetooth to connect my phone to hands free calling or get directions using OnStar. Hellooooo convenience!! Driven a few cars over the last year and one thing I really dig about the Sonic is that your phone charges while you drive when it’s plugged into USB. A few cars have USB now but they don’t all work to charge your device. The back seat door handles are on the window making it look like a hatchback also has extra trunk space. Driven heaps since Wednesday and still have gas too. The drive to Dad’s is nice country-ish roads. Tiny bit of snow in the backyard. After brekky got Dad to show us the garage and three cars he’s currently working on. My Dad builds hot rods and had a chassis shop when I was growing up called “Toys for Boys”. This pink rocket was my first car ever. He built it and Mum/him used to push Jenie and I around at car shows across North America when we were little. It’s dusty and needs a clean BUT IT HAS FLAMES. This one time a well known, cool car guy (Mum who?) said “Y’know kid, you got the best car on the lot” to me. Something like…

Spin around in a world of fashion, tech & glitter for one day.

First stop today was Sherway Gardens with Barbie. I got a Fousqaure “Mall Rat” badge (shame!) cause I’ve been to five malls. Ok, that’s not really bad. If you get to ten you get another badge. I’m not much of a mall-goer anymore so it’s especially exciting to do a couple laps during the holidays. Love the decorations, the tree and today I even saw Santa. Got a new hard drive to back up my Macbook Air baby, James Dean. Technology is so stylish. Today I fact checked something about my life from this post. It was about ten days ago but I could not for the life of me remember. New app Diptic lets me do cool things with photos like make them into the four below. This other app I downloaded is 360 Panoramic, check out this I made in the dressing room. Might just be my new fav thing (of the week). I don’t have the option to embed the 360 but here’s a screenshot. If you click either image the real 360 pano will open in a new window and you can have a full spin around. Pretty neat app! It’s $.99 at the corner store. Nerd candy. First outfit is what I wore today, black lace bottom dress from Bicyclette, skully cardigan from somewhere and leopard hat from H&M. At StyleExchange I got this heart sweater, leopard sheer number was too big, loved the sleeveless chiffon button down. Got this darling holiday sweater at CTS, my fav spot, I’m Mayor on 4sq. Nulayer’s New Apps

On Thursday Sam & I met up with Lauren at Thrush Holmes Empire Gallery for the launch of two apps from Toronto based dev company Nulayer. Nulayer, was called the “App Kings” on the cover of Toronto Life’s 2011 Money Issue, and they were celebrating the launch of two new apps (Toronto Star and TheScore). One of the things I love about the company is the tag line “we build software with our bare hands“. Thanks for the invite Esther, always nice to see you!
