they called me a sassy blonde, how about that eh?

cute article on thread.co.nz – DEREK DRESSES CASIE

Thread.co.nz is New Zealand’s home of fashion online. On the last day of New Zealand Fashion Week, Derek Fabulous and I went shopping with the Editor of Thread Megan Robinson and it was a RIOT (as you will see). Please note I am wearing a Foursquare shirt. I’m so styling, nerdy and cool at the same time, haha. Read the article here, it’s really cute (all the pix link to it as well). Follow Derek on Twitter & @threadNZ for style from NY & NZ. I laughed so hard when Derek put this on his face. He was like, totally serious. DEREK I MISS YOU DAH’LING! “Grabbing a frilled tulle skirt, Derek used it to whip Casie as he held onto the reins of her leather waistcoat.” This was my fav outfit: “Casie in a 40s swimsuit, leopard jacket and red velvet hat.” No pants baby. Gaga this one’s for you! PAWS UP!

doesn’t it make sense to have the time of your life?

Hi! I’m in San Fran at the airport waiting for my flight home to TO. I miss you TO, can’t wait to see that tower. I was super anxious this morning/yesterday whatever time it was when I left NZ. Joanne and I dropped Nana off at the airport with Isabelle (her darling daughter) then it was my turn to go. I had like four hours until my flight so I snooped around, got one of those chair massages. Left my biz card at the computer station. Threw back a beer or three and painted my nails. Chatted a lovely couple, my parents age, who were off to Rangitonga with about thirty friends. He had a ukulele and they have a sail boat too like Mum. I love airports. They are calling my plane now. See you in Canada homeslice!

leave all your love and your longing behind you can’t carry it with you if you want to survive

Walked down to the ocean in Beach Haven, tide was out. So beautiful. I miss being near the ocean. When I lived in Bondi (Australia) I used to visit the water each day, lay in the sand, stare at the sky. I was really happy there, I’m happy now too. I climbed on the childrens boat, laxed on a bench, lazed in the sun. The flowers here are very beautiful. I have heaps of photos fronm the past week. People here have quite lovely gardens. Nana & Grandad always had a really nice garden. He had passion fruit trees , flowers and vegetables. I carved my name in a tree there too. Love you Grandad, miss you. Chilled out with Nana today. This is on my cousins lawn. Their house is great. I’ve been lucky this trip to stay at really nice places. I enjoyed staying with Kms the other day. His place felt kinda like my old house on Broadview in TO; artsy and musical with character. Nice fro babe. Walked into downtown Beach Haven, there’s about five shops, three takeaways, a dairy and a cafe with a foursquare checkin. I have a meeting at the cafe in the morning and will feel like my trip is complete if I can steal that Mayorship. GAME, SET, MISSION. Beer o’clock and diner making time.  Got an extra suitcase today so I can bring home all my goodies. Love it here but ready to come home. Lots of exciting things on the horizon. love & light my friends xo

this is a tech style blog: technology + fashion + music

Ever wonder what the front row is tweeting from? What camera’s at the show? Stylish gadgets I tell ya. Busy as for the next month when I return home. Luckily it’s with all my favourite things; tech, style & music – TedX Toronto elite invite only geek conference, Indie Music Week and LG Fashion Week. I just googled LGFW and it means ‘Lets Get Fuckin’ Wankered’. haha Man I love NZ. It’s pretty small but really nice. There’s a few things I’d have liked to get done ex. bungy jump, see Palmy or visit Waiheke Island. Imma just gonna have to come back. It’s been ten years since I was last here and I’m not letting that happen again. Venus took these photos of us, top is front row at the Huffer show Friday night. Their collection is stuff I’d wear but reminded me H&M and I just can’t get over that it’s called HUFFER. We all know what Huffing is, no? Check the bed spread below by Nom*D, it’s made of CORSETS + BRAS! Holy style. – want. More photos here. We seriously had a blast this week! I wish I had a photog/assistant + driver all the time. A girl can dream…uh, a girl DOES dream! I’m ready to travel, have I told you yet? Well, tell your friends. HERE I COME xo

My driver who picked Derek and I up at the Auckland Airport this AM bright & early. NZFW Sponsors for sharing all these goodies and placing them in my room. NZFW Designers who have invited me to their shows. Nice having my name on everything, seats assigned. See you front row my lovelies. My eyes are on your style. The Weston Auckland Lighter Quay for the Beautiful room on the Auckland Harbour – City of Sails baby. The City of Auckland for WIFI everythere. Derek Fabulous because he is my new BFF. This song by Lily Allen I just saw on NZ Juice TV. Meeting up with my Kiwi friend I’ve not seen in like 10 years MC Bling! Peach out till later. Will post a pic of my outfit before tonight’s NZFW opening party if not in too much of a rush. You know how I am always slow/late. Fashionably! Hope you are having a lovely day. I’m doing what I always wanted to and loving every single minute of it. Good thing I slept the whole way here. xo

Aotearoa: land of the long white cloud

Got on the plane about 11pm and shortly after we were sailing high we were given our dinner. I remember flying Air NZ when I was younger that the food was delish, guess what? It still is! I had this seared tuna and cute salad with lobster cream dressing. The dessert was some kinda pineapple/carrot delish. After I had the main course, lamb & potatoes w/ beans. I perfectly paired my dinner with gravol and a glass of red wine so I could sleep like a baby girl. (Mind you, there were some loud ass screaming little shits on the plane. Babies don’t seem to sleep so well on the plane, who knew? Luckily I decided it was not worth hurting them or grinding my teeth so I turned up my audio to drown them out.) This is me after 1o hours airplane sleep. Good morning! Would you like some brekky? Why yes, yes I would! Had this stuff then crepes + fresh berries & whipped cream. Hellooooo homeland. Nice to see you again. You can always spot sheeps cruising in pastures from the plane when you get a little closer than this. I almost got stopped at bag check on the way out of the airport cause the scanner guy saw I had gum boots (mine are actually red Moovboots). In NZ gum boots are worn by sheep farmers and in fields etc (which is not cool with airport security). I told him mine were fashion over function and had never left a big city. He laughed, I laughed, he let me go. I sure have a way with security guys! I totally thought today was Sunday (like it is at home in Canada) but it really is MONDAY today in NZ. I was like, why are all these…

he said ‘there’s this woman, she’s a hurricane’

Lets do this. Here we go. Remmeber my Guns on Plane story from the summer when I went to Boston? Read it here. Anyhooters, being calm and was careful not to pack an firearms this time. Go through customs and doing bag check and who’s line do I end up in? Oh yeah, same dude who caught me with the gun. He says ” I remember you? Any guns this time? Do I need to search your bag?” We laugh. I say no. He explains what happened and that the dude last time should really have given me back my gun, 38 special (metal necklace). Then some other dude says “they always hassle the pretty girls”, I giggle, I’m always hassled. I gave him my card and I hope he reads this. HI, NICE SECURITY AIRPORT MAN! Ran into Marcel next in the Molson Pub. Fancy that! He was on same flight to EL EH. The bartender took this artistic-fuzzy one. Cheers mate! Guess who likes to sleep on planes and had TWO empty seats beside them? This girl. Snoooooooozefest. One beer prior to boarding, then pizza then gravol then comatose then almost in LA. Quizno pepperoni + cheese za was quite good. What’s in my locket? Your heart. My heart. i love this poem by e.e. cummings. one of my fav’s: i carry your heart with me (i carry it in my heart) i am never without it (anywhere i go you go, my dear; and whatever is done by only me is your doing, my darling) i fear no fate (for you are my fate, my sweet) i want no world (for beautiful you are my world, my true) and it’s you are whatever a moon has always meant and whatever a sun will always sing is you…

leaving on a jet plane

Good morning. Had a FREAKOUT this morning. No not because of my adventure but because my  blog was hacked. Don’t do that. Seriously. Who the fuck hacks a sunshine-rainbow-fantasty-glitter blog like mine? Looooooooosers. Panic at my disco when I got the notification. Seriously. First thought, shit, I leave for NZFW today what the hell imma do? Please don’t hack things, it’s not nice. Bad actions/vibes you put into the universe have a magnetic particles and like attracts like and they will all come back to you. Be careful. Heaps of clothes. Thanks to Canadian designers Paris Li, Andy Hall and Nella Bella for outfitting me with style. Thanks to Telus for my phone + keeping me connected. Thanks Betty Kiss for the massive suitcase &  reversible clutches.  I packed shoes galore, Doc’s, cowboys, wellies and five other pairs. It’s fashion week followed by chill time with the fams, totes necesary. My two suit cases aren’t stuffed though, need to leave room to bring home lotsa goodies & prezzies. Taking some Tim’s coffee for a cute little blogger named Hannah in NZ. Carry on bag is from Nella Bella, the red reno suede. It’s lovely! I always bring my sketchbook on the plane. I get inspired watching people, looking at the flight path, reading listening to music, flying in general really. Crispers S&V are my fav snack (just saw on sale at Shoppers for $0.99, go stock up on my christmas present!). I can plow through a bag of them easy. SO crunchy. New Wired mag arrived yesterday just in time. Might actually read it sice I’m travelling. I’ve been getting it for two years and each month I browse when it arrives then leave it sitting there to rot, spine uncracked. Packed Kabbalah meditation cards, the 72 names of God,…

look out world here i come! next destination is ____.

Tomorrow kicks off Toronto International Film Fest. Let the wild rumpus begin! I’m going to an opening party and screening tomorrow. I’m bringing arm candy and he’s young and cute. The next ten days are going to be insane. I need to stay focused and on track, I hate when I don’t adhere to my schedule. Although sometimes agressive, I try my best. I live by my calender these days. Without it, I’d forget everything. Been doing some stuff recently with the lovely Keri. New blog coming soon for her. Haven’t you missed her internet? Gearing up for New Zealand FW post TIFF. Organizing a Tweetup for Kiwi bloggers so we can all meet each other. Pretty stoked. I would really love to expand my relationships with international bloggers and visit more countries. There’s a huge designer garage sale on Saturday the 25th I’m hitting up with my cuzzie and Auntie. Stoked. Was thinking day dreaming about where I’m going to travel to next and a friend told me about this rad contest Intrepid Travel is doing on Tuesday Sept. 14th. It’s a Treasure Hunt and they are hiding eight globes around Toronto and those who find get free trips in exotic/amazing locations like Peru, Morocco and some other cool places. Not to be rude but I hope you have to work or go to school cause I cleared my calendar on Tuesday so I can try and win one of these things! It starts at 9am and they are giving away clues each hour on Twitter via @intrepid_travel, hashtag is #intrepidtreasure. If you find one they’re also giving vouchers for up to $1000 for your next trip with them. Helloooo! I can haz please? I can just see myself blogging from this villa in Morocco…. “Hey, Juliooooo, bring mama…

i hope the rain stops before your wedding starts

It’s so fun hanging out with Dad. He’s hilarious. Wise crack city that guy. Jenie & I got up early to take Dad to the Hot Rod Shop for work so we could use the car. We’re going to a friends wedding and poor thing, it’s pouring. I’d be balling my eyes out for sure. Hopefully she’s fine with it. Marrying her best friend and all, the weather shouldn’t really matter. I’d keep telling myself that. Stopped by Value Village, the Cambridge one is a hot spot for style. It’s like a ritual to go there and S.V.D.P when we’re in town. It’s the only shopping I ever do here. There’s always something to be foud. I got new glasses. Jenie found some wicked boots x2. Everything is so cheap here too, not like at home whenre old vintage stuff is the same price as new crappy stuff. Chatted Mum last night and found our they’re in a safe spot and made friend with locals. Important because that damn hurricane is heading straight for them on the East Coast of Canada near Nova Scotia. Dear universe, please keep my Mummy safe. I love storms and thunder. I went through a stage when I was really scared of them. It was after I lived in Fort Wayne, Indiana with a BF. They have really bad nasty storms there and I used to be freaked right out. I’d have anxiety and panic, need to stay in side and away from windows. I got over it once I was back in Canada. Time to get ready for the wedding and pretend it’s not raining. Gaga time! TGIF!!!!!!!!

I’m going international.

First stop – Auckland, New Zealand for the 10th Anniversary of NZ Fashion Week! I am happy to be attending as a media VIP.  I’ll be covering the week’s event, meeting designers and talking with sponsors. Stoked. Photos by Lynsie Roberts Since I’ve been to NZ and AM a Kiwi I’ve grown up with New Zealnd influenced style this is REALLY exciting to me. They are always ahead of North American style over there. In 2004 I came back from down under wearing cowboy boots, skinny jeans with a mullet and a fedora. Two years later, skinny jeans on everyone. I can not WAIT to see how they Fashion Week in New Zealand. Style parade!! I leave for NZ  Sept. 18th for about 10 days. Will hopefully get to see some of my Kiwi cuzzies. I’ll be posting more about my adventure as it gets closer. Right now I’m near Napanee and there about 100 Bud Girls getting ready for Bud Camp right now. Have a great weekend!! TGIF! 🙂

the view from our office is terrible

Setting up a blog/twitter for Mum today so she can update while on her sailing adventure. Gonna spend more time with my sketchbook I reckon. We hung out last night and, we really miss each other. The Unnecessary Wheels Collection is growing. If you have no idea what the heck I am talking about you should browse over Borderline Artistic, my art blog or check out some of the first ones I drew in this old post. Two of my fav’s are the bong with wheels and the blackberry with wheels. I want to have an art show within the next year. I’ve got so many things I created hiding  away, they want to come out, they want to see your eyes and give you feelings. Postsecret, all about feelings. I hear you lady, I want my own adventure TOO! Made some new friends last night at drum circle & Squirley’s. HI THERE! Interesting enough, I met one babe who looks exactly like Brett from Flight of the Conchords or exactly like an old BF or two, or three. Whoops.  I always seem to find them/they find me, maybe I do have a type afterall. 🙂 Hitting up the free Metric show tonight with O’Nizzle, 7pm Union Station. After that we’ve got fittings with Raymi & Carly of our ZEUGARI swimsuits for Wakestock. We’re staying at a loft in Blue Mountain, it is going to be epic fun. Get ready for lots of bikini’s & babes all weekend. I tried this one on the other day….ooh hubba hubba. Excited x 1,000,000. If you’re gonna be there lemme know ok. Have an awesome day xo

Omg. Last night was so fun. Love you friends!

I still have about 100 pounds of makeup on my eyes but I don’t care. I was at Machine last night in Boston (Cambridge, Mass). It was aweeeeeesome. I have so many friends here. I haven’t even left Boston but can’t wait to come back. Danced my booty off, met MTV Boston and a totally hot little lez. Good night overall. Not hungover either. Pretty proud of how I handled my booze this weekend. I must be maturing. Watching Back to the Future in my hotel now, today is a good day. Nus Cabana tonight for Michael’s birthday. Smirnoff Experience tomorrow. Life is good.

Pahk the cah in Havahd Yahd.

Today I stopped by Harvard and got this picture to prove it. Before coming here I asked my Tweeps what I should do in Boston and O’Nizzle said to check out the legendry S&S Resto in Cambridge, Mass, so today we did. This photo was taken the year I was born. The place has been open for ages, since 1919 and heaps of famous people have dined there. Figured I should pass through too. Heh heh, ya never know how famous you’ll be until you try, ok.  For reals. Check out this hot babe, the mama of the joint: It was really great! Pretty good service, ok coffee. This was my brekky, zomg it was nomnomnom. Pretty sure I recognized this guy, does he not look like Old Spice guy? Uh, yeah… It could be. Honestly. I bet Old Spice guy travelled back in time in his time machine and hand painted this image of himself, using magic leprechaun tears as the water with paint he created and blended with his own bare hands. What an incredible man he is.  Wow. These are my Boston Besties B & E after brekky. Yannis was there too but somebody had to snap the pic eh. I always wanted to visit Harvard so we did that next. I didn’t really have anything in particular I wanted to see, I just wanted to be there. Mostly snap a couple pix and checkin on foursquare. Yes, I am wearing a foursquare day tank. So nerdy. I really hoped a Harvard hottie would notice TBH, but none did. They’re probs all studying and shit. Picked up a couple things from The Coop and toured around. If I lived here I would hang out at Harvard for sure. I kinda miss school. I think if I go…

saint boston = dance party

Boston is a really neat city, loved waking up here this AM. Last night we went to a club called Saint, a boutique nightery. No line no cover, my friends had everything hooked up. Billie Jean was blasting as we walked and were escorted to our booth. We all danced and it was a blast. I cruised over to this other room that was playing all hip hop and srsly cut a rug. So glad I wore flats. I was dancing away then make friends with these babes. They ordered champagne in my honour and added me to FB. God I love internet. Sadly, my acid reflux did not allow me to have more than a sip for the cheers but the spirit was there. We all had a blast. I’m really lucky to have such awesome friends. I was careful to count my drinks and enjoy myself, I didn’t get drunk (which was my plan). I’m way more fun when I drink less. Y’know? Overall, awesome night. Except, I woke up with heartburn 🙁

hello hello baby you called, i can’t hear a thing…cause i’m on vacation in boston with friends mooohahaha

Oh hai. I can haz vacay? You betca ass I can! (Did you know I was on that game show once “You Bet Your Ass”. If you find my episode on line I will give you a prize.) Woke up had a glorious brekky blueberry scone, eggs, toast, coffee. The weather is lovely just like at home. I went to the oldest bar in the USA last night called The Bell In Hand. They had a Cuervo promo and I successfully did NOT drink and Tequila or get drunky. Throat was killing yesterday and I prayed that all the meds I took last night would work and y’know what, I feel like a million freakin’ bux today. My flight from TO to Beantown was so lovely. Porter Airlines is seriously the way to fly. So classy & hastle free. I would love to have a deal with them (hint hint). I tweeted Porter and I was leaving the tarmac and by the time I landed in Boston I had replies from @porterairlines wishing I had a great flight. My in flight experience was just divine. I sat beside a man named Bob, this is him. A charming Canadian from Calgary living in Boston. Excellent chat the whole 1.5 hours and we spant most the time laughing at our own jokes (ok, more like him laughing at mine haha). I love meeting new people and it’s true that I make friends easily. He was intrigued by my positive attitude and surprised that my ‘day job’ is a real job. I probably said it 5 times “Yes, I watch TV and Twitter/Facebook professionally”. I landed about 6:30 and met B & E at the airport. I’m stoked to have a great weekend. Hope you do too! YAY VACATION FTW!!!!

i rememeber that iceberg on the beach baby, i do

I used to live at Bondi Beach. I loved it there. I wanna go back one day. Lead a simple life,  a beach babe, not be so busy all the time. One day. I wrote this poem walking along this very beach one day at 7am. I had to take it by memory, it was one of the few times I didn’t have a pencil/paper. It was  also before the smartphone revolution. To me at least!  It’s my favorite one I ever wrote: As the waves crashed on the shore, The wind washed them away. And as I walked along the sand, I felt I could not stray. For I was walking towards the sun, And it was a brand new day. – Untitled, Casie 2004

i’ve always wanted to be a virgin girl

I figure it would be crazy of me to NOT enter to be the Virgin America Toronto Provocateur. Who knows? I might win. It includes free flights for a year and  some pretty sweet perks.  I have been in looooove with the Virgin brand for years, following all the many things that Richard does. He is someone I really admire for his creativity and business acumen. If you love me, vote for me. It’s not a full time gig so I could still keep my job and just add on all the perks of being a Virgin girl. Awesome? Heck yes.

island adventure to find your love and baby i found it

After walking around for coffee on Sunday for about an hour (almost everything in my hood was closed G20), I decided to day trip it to the island. I chose Wards Island as I have never been there before and was keen for a true adventure. Got the ‘I’m on a Boat’ badge on Foursquare for checkin’ in on the Island Ferry. This was a great way to start. I was dressed like a teenage dirtbag, in fact,  a lesbian teenage dirtbag wearing rainboy bikini top. It IS Pride Week so, kinda fitting  I guess. It was sunny all afternoon. It was hot. Spent some time staring at boats. Mum is about to sail to Bahamas on her boat next month. I dream of doing that one day too. Camera got a little heat stroke from humidity (that’s what I’m calling the water effect) and it started taking blurry photos. Regardless, I LOVE my new camera. It’s making the life-documentation process way more fun. Soaked it in some dry rice when we got home, baby is back in action now. That trick works for phones too. If anyone knows about wrecking devices, it’s ME.  I’ve been through so many since starting this blog, not even gonna try counting. It was more than lovely. So relaxing. There was no noise, no distractions. I needed that.  I needed a break from my busy life. I hung out on the couch at the Island Cafe on Wards Island. Read a book. A real book, like hardcover. I love the island, gonna go back a few times this summer. It’s amazing how refreshing a couple hours away can be. Enjoy the day!

you know that i love you boy, hot like mexico

I’m back in action in TO and it’s nice to be here & back to regular scheduled blogging. Really stoked the weather is hot hot hot. I can’t help but be excited thinking about my next trip to see my  Boston loves. MISS YOU GUYS ALREADY! Saying I had an awesome time this weekend does not even begin to explain it. It will be a couple weeks before all the party pix are posted but I hope to get a few from Bob in the new week or so.  I hardly took any, can you believe it? I know, weird. The pool party was deff one of my favorite things of the weekend. This photo pretty much sums it up… Note the big Malibu bucket, 1950’s high waist bikini, , heart shaped glasses, latex outfit in the corner,  & Papa pushing me around in the floaty. Bob had an underwater camera that was massive amounts of fun. SOOOO looking forward to next year (360 days away). Oh, and check the shoes I got! MEOW!! I look like a damn GIANT in them. Probs gonna put them on to make dinner when I get home. They’re actually not that hard to walk or dance in to be honest. Have an awesome day. I’m hanging with my darling little sis tonight. I always miss her the most when I’m away. Yahoooooooo!

DO YOU HAVE A GUN MISS?

So yesterday I had a really intersting experience going through customs before leaving YYZ. I was very smily and dressed kinda cute as I approaced the dreaded security check at the airport. It always scares me for some reason, there is just something about all the turnstiles and other crowd control measures that puts me on edge! I do understand how important these security checks are though, and after reading this website about security turnstile here I probably know much more about airport security and turnstiles than the average person! Hence, I was extremely pleasant as I emptied all my gear intot the tray, laptop, shoes, small bottled liquids. I was pretty excited to step into the body scanner. It was my first time flying since this had been implemented a few months ago after the underwear bomber. No problems with the body scan but as I turned around it seemed a couple security guards were puzzled by something in my suitcase. First thought, they saw my ‘Hitachi massager‘ and they’re gonna give me a hard time, second thought, my corsets with metal boning have them confused. Neither was the case and as one security guard after another, followed by several police officers went for a look, I began to get scared. WTF are they looking at? I tried to be positive about the whole thing and deffinitley not get emotional. Crying would only make this worse, “keep smiling & don’t look scared” I told myself. A secutiry guard and police officer begun filling out paper work and the questions started coming. Where do I live, what do I do, where was I going & why. They could tell I was getting worried and told me to stay calm, so I tried as my hands were getting real sweaty and…
