Beers, Babes, Beards, Bikes, Books, Boys, Bass

Hi, hi! Had a nice coffee on the patio in the sunshine. Got this cute heart shirt from Winners last night and it ripped already. Problem with all the sheer is it is so delicate. Head scarf was a vintage gift.  I’m doing a presentation at an ad agency about creative blogging this afternoon. Fun! I love going into new offices and throwing energy all over the place. Huzzahhhhhh! Beerfest 2011 – Breakfast Beer from 1188 on Vimeo. This weekend is Beerfest! Stoked to get beer’d with a bunch of babes, boys, bands, and friends. This video was shot by 1188 last year for the fest featuring Hipster Ryan from the office. I was informed yesterday that my daily blog email wasn’t coming anymore! Sorry If you have been missing it! I’ve fixed it, I think. Hopefully you will wake up to a delicious blog snack in your email tomorrow. If you would like to subscribe and get  a daily dose of sunshine & love, subscribe here. This Is What Fun Looks Like

Look in the mirror. Look outside. Look at a kids face. Look at something tasty. Look at the sky. Look at your past. Look at your future. Look deep inside yourself and find the fun in there. It’s there. Look that was ME flying in the sky! Not that exact person but I was flying. Flying! Build your own world and live it in. Daydreaming about time travel. — CASIE STEWART (@casiestewart) July 24, 2012 ♫ Listening to “It’s Time” by Imagine Dragons on @Rdio: rd.io/x/QVmrjzexhVU — CASIE STEWART (@casiestewart) July 24, 2012 Heading to the 1188 office this afternoon then a new Italian eatery King West for dinner. Give Me a Hint of Your Light!

New post on teh ol’ SummerWorks bloggy blog. Festival starts August 9th! There’s a free workshop you can apply to called Making & Breaking on August 4 & 5th. It’s a two day workshop in contemporary performance. I’m doing it! LMK if you apply. Details here. Check out the OFFICIAL song of the performance festival: “The idea for the song and video came out of wanting to get people excited about the Festival, and re-iterating that SummerWorks is a celebration of incredible, exciting work and artists. SummerWorks wants to ‘give you a hint of its light and be your spark,’ (lyrics from the song) says Michael Rubenfeld, Artistic Producer of SummerWorks Performance Festival.

MY SKYDIVING EXPERIENCE

On July 21, 2012 I went for my first skydive at Jumptown in Orange, Massachusetts. IT WAS FREAKING AWESOME! My instructor Joe Goodbreak was so cool & fun to hang out with. He has done over 1,000 jumps. Videographer was Keith Thivierge with two cameras for video & still. I was only really scared for the 3 seconds before we actually jumped.  We had a 55 second free fall at about 120km before opening the parachute. Falling in the air is exhilarating. Greatest adrenaline ever.  The sky was so clear and beautiful. I felt so calm up there. Before the Jump Skydiving from 13,500 ft (jump is at 2:12) He grabs my head so I lift up my chin to the camera. He told me not to look down but I couldn’t help it! He signals for me to pull the ripcord after we spin for a bit. Time goes so fast when you’re fallin’. I wanted to do dance moves but it was a LOT to take in on my first jump. Next time. [iframe id=”https://www.youtube.com/embed/s1z2tQ_R8h8″] Definitely tops the list of amazing things I have ever done. I can’t WAIT to do it again. Seeking friends who skydive! I feel like a cooler version of myself who can REALLY do anything.  Motivated to take on the world! Have you gone skydiving? Where, when? LMK.  Here’s to a great week 🙂

Live Art Performance About Digital & Social Interaction?

I’m totally into it! This week on the SummerWorks blog I started my interview series with a few of the performers in the Live Art Series of the festival.   Summerworks Blog Post Details: Art, emotion, interaction, and a dose digital media? – Interview with Brial Lobel, his performance Purge is the one with deleting Facebook friends and stuff. Totally into it. I delete FB friends all the time.  Get to Know Erin Brubacher – Her performance is called  Nightcap. She collects hand-crank egg beaters and have lived & performed around the world. We are LOOKING FOR VOLUNTEERS for the Summerworks Festival August 9-19th. All the details are HERE if you are interested. Volunteering is an excellent way to get to know people, make friends, and gain experience. Plus, it’s super fun to be involved in cool things. If you are already volunteering, LMK so we can hang out! Happy Friday! I am safely in Boston and tomorrow I am going SKYDIVING for the very first time. Virgin. Omg. Not even scared. No really, I’m NOT SCARED AT ALL.

There Are No Walls in This Office

I said to myself as I peeked out from behind my computer. There are no walls in this office. I looked up. Looked around. Ideas floating freely between the trees and with a fresh haircut feeling quite fresh in general. A rain drop lands on the touchpad. There’s a faint sound of a boy guitar while a girl reads a book and spins a hula on her hips. (It’s quite amazing really.) The breeze is cool for the first time in days and I wish I had a sweater. In any other season this would feel warm.  Another rain drop. Bugger. This office has no walls but it has no roof either. overalls, H&M, top  American Apparel, hair Darren Kwik Studio, Rimmel lipstick

No. If you ask to ‘pick my brain’ that is your answer.

Student, charity? Sure. I’m a nice girl. BUT, if you are a professional, a big company, an agency, a brand, a beer, a burger co., an app, a toy, a product, a service, and you operate on currency, don’t ask to pick my brain.  We can chat about an idea, you can call me for advice on clarity.fm, or run something past me in an email. Totally cool. Sometimes I brainstorm over lunch, brunch, and sometimes I really get creative after beers. As Harlan Ellison says “cross my palms with silver and you can use my essay“, ideas in this case. I think it’s the actual TERM that drives me mental. It’s basically saying “give me your ideas so I can use them”.  If you are asking someone for advice, it’s because you value their opinion. An amature will give you their ideas for free but a professional’s ideas are what you really want.  Forbes posted a great article and if someone ever asks to pick your brain, you should send it to them. Please don’t use that expression. It’s my biggest pet peeve aside from people calling me CASSIE. It’s happened at least twice in emails today. My email is [email protected] How can you get my name wrong?! Doh. In other news…!!!!!!!!!! Mooohahahahah! You Look aLike a Celebrity!

I had to give it a try. I saw photos pf people I knew and famous faces poppin up all over Twitter, Facebook, Instagram. I’ve gotten Sharon Stone before and Nicole Richie is the most common celebrity match I’ve had the last ten years. Here are my celebrity matches: Madonna, Spielberg, maybe I have a famous looking face? I always loved Brittany Murphy. The app is called aLike and it’s free for iPhone. Download, select photo of you or someone else, and voila, you have a match. Think Lauren looks like an Patricia Arquette, oui, non? It’s a bit smart this app, I tried with a photo I took of Adrian Grenier and IT PICKED Adrian Grenier.  Who do you look aLike?

There’s always lots happening, the streets are busy, and you’re close to the water or highway for a quick getaway. Follow Menkes online at @MenkesLife and Facebook/MenkesLife. Do You Believe in Magic?

I do.   But you have to create it. You have to build it. Manufacture it. The means of production are all yours. Open the doors to the factory inside your mind. Let it all out. Let it spill over the sides of everything and flood the basement. Build a house out of it. Build a life. A magical life to live.

Dreams, Films, Marriage, Comedy, Crop Tops, & Waterfalls

Hello & happy Friday! I’m at 1188 Films doin’ some work today. I had the weirdest dream last night. I documented it in audio when I woke up. I hope you enjoy it. He is in Toronto in September, it must be a sign. New episode of my show on Coral actually comes out Friday next week (my bad!) and then one each week thereafter. Here’s a screenshot of me wearing a crop top I made from an Epilogger shirt. DIY FTW. I was also reminded of this wonderful jam this morning and it’s been stuck in my head for hours. Guess what? Another Day For You and Me in Paradise

Dear Diary, Great sleep. Good day. Lots to get done. Heat wave. Sunshine. Summer love. Tomorrow is Friday the 13th and I wanna get tattooed. Tuesday night I popped into ‘Mattel Game On’ at GCI Group’s rooftop and played some games with friends. It was fun. I didn’t win the grand prize but it was nice to see the media peeps. I went last year too, see that post here. Recognize anyone? After games night I scooted to Bloor Street for a foodie event. We were at Noka Japanese thanks to Ken Samuel and the food was DELICIOUS. This plated selection is called the Threesome. Creative one haha 😉 First time trying this beer from Kensington brewing Company. It was good but given I had a couple before I got there, I probably would have liked any beer! Thank you @inyourmouthTO for an awesome dinner sampler at #NokaToronto. Loved the pork belly!!!! — CASIE STEWART (@casiestewart) July 11, 2012 Photo shoot yesterday was SUPER short.Being confident and not camera shy is something you just gotta get over. I’ve had lots of practice but this time I shocked myself! It went like this: 1:30 Arrive 1:33 Water & touchup 1:35 Put on Rdio w/ Empire of the Sun – Half Mast 1:36 Smile, spin, pose, jump, curtsey, smile pose 1:38 Check photos on photographers camera 1:40 Done. Did you happen to chatch this outfit cruising downtown West yesterday? I loved walking behind her in my vintage dress w/ cowboy boots. Complete opposite. I saw about 100 eyeballs pop right out of peoples heads. There’s some fun comments on Instagram. Sending you positive vibes for an awesome day!

Part 1/3 will be out on Friday and I hope you enjoy it! Thanks Shannon for these photos! Check out all the Coral TV shows on the channel at youtube.com/coral. I’m heading north of Bloor, gasp, to the head office of eBay Canada for a photoshoot. It’s for an upcoming profile for eBay Style Stories. Check out my friend Spiro’s feature here. It came out this week. And, in other news… I was about to hem dress and then I ironed it and it’s polyester and almost burned it down. There goes my plan.
