Art Battle 17 at The Great Hall: Paint by Numbers

And by numbers… I mean Pemberton & Plashkes, the creators of Art Battle. Their numbered shirts equal seventeen. Eight is my fav number, I have one tattooed on my right arm. If you have never been to Art Battle, follow them on Twitter here and stay tuned for the next one. It’s one of the most awesome things that happens in this wonderful city. Competitive painting for the WIN. Paint pr0n. THIS is how you do event shirts. These babies were all up for grabs. Painted that night, silent auction. I really liked this one. Bid was $150, I didn’t go for it. Jack will always be in our thoughts. The ones without bids are DESTROYED. See video here. Hello new friend blog fan, Twitter peep. (Please tell me your Twitter if/when you see this!) Queen West art hipster types in full force. You can tell there are deep thoughts going on here and I like it. Smart, arty & handsome. Winning combo 😉 Painting in the final round. Counting up the votes. Simon & the winner of the Art Battle 17 David McKenzie. David & his is final painting. “Let’s destroy some paintings” Paint on the clothes is a good style I reckon.   Maybe some for me next time? I like to paint too. Some serious talent at these things. I know for sure you will enjoy yourself. I’ll keep you posted on the next one.

better act now before life passes you by!

Went for a short cruise this morning. Wanted to feel the cool air on my face, in my hair. I’ve got a full day of creative writing ahead of me. New project with client is very fun. You’ll know about it soon when the site launches. 😉 Watch & overalls are my fav things right now. Watch Hamilton (Swatch), overalls H&M. Cleaned my room and have about $500 in gift cards for Holts, West 49 (Billabong new stuff is rad) and Gaffas (new glasses!). Stoked to take myself out for some BTS shopping. Been though a bunch of this exact same Converse model the last few years. Comfy & cute. Got these fresh new ones last week. Will not wear them to a concert or festival. We all know what happened last time at Beerfest. Remember Exhibit Ikea? I told you to go the other day. They are tearing it down right now. Can’t imagine how much dosh they put into renovating that space for a four day gallery showing. It was beautiful though. I’d like to live there for an art experiment exhibit. My arthritis arm has been killing the last 24 hours so I popped a bunch of these. No, they are not Viagra. Aleve! Had a great call w/ Stephen about our show launching September 8th. Meeting out designers tonight for logo chat. I’m going long boarding tonight too. Preeeetttty stoked. I’ve always wanted to give’er a go. Don’t worry Mum, I’ll wear a helmet and wrist guards. I need my arms to type!

time capsule creative: november 16, 2006

Once I thought I lost the contents my first external hard drive. It was November 16, 2005. I was heart broken. Like no other love I’ve ever had, it was my everything. Devastated. Distraught. Thinking about that day now, and you reading this, my heart, it still hurts, feels like like a day old punch. I went to the bar and I got a martini. What the hell else was I supposed to do, I LOST  goddamn EVERYTHING?! There was a hole in my heart. And it was bleeding. So I wrote… #1 now i must write. today i think i lost my work, my life my story. my external drive showed up empty. my brain is very full. the words i wrote, can not be gone. i must remember what is lost. _______________ #2 where what now here me loud my story goes untold a life worth living a legend will unfold _________________ #3 life lost. a legend burried deep within the walls four of them that hold my life a broken link holds it togehter a photo in my mind it is all remembered. __________________ Later that day, I decided to take all the cords apart (there were two to connect it to my PC, it was 2006) and put them back together. It turned back on. I didn’t  lose anything. The end. Lessons learned: 1) Make sure you back up. 2) Drama inspires creativity.  3) I might be rtrd. 🙂

exhibitIKEA: realms of bliss realms of light some are born to sweet delight

I cruised by this the night before it opened and snapped a bunch of shots in the dark. Yesterday I creeped into the beautiful art installation exhibit by IKEA at King & Peter. It’s in collaboration with Canadian fashion designer David Dixon, fashion & design photographer George Whiteside, sculptor Bruno Billio and Thrush Holmes, popular artist, painter & owner of Thrush Holmes Empire. I love the creativity. I could live here. Maybe one day I will.     These photos were taken the night before it opened and shot from outside.

borderline artistic: shots, lomography

Shot another two rolls for Lomography Mag’s Lomo Amigo project. These are all that turned out. I’ve got another roll done and I hope more turned out. I’m gonna pop by the store and get some tips before I have another go. Some of these are rad. Especially love the ones from my balcony. Beerfest.

I’m in love with this app today.

…magically your closet is a shop of beautiful things.  Made using Comic Book for iPad. New fav app. I always wanted to make a comic of my adventures. I wanna fight some bad guys and make the world a better place. Have you ever worked your arms from driving? Today I used Softsign to download & edit a PDF, type changes & sign all from iPad with ease. Amazing device. I am also in LOVE with Spotify. How did I get it to work when I’m in Canada? Used my Klous Perk invite code to sign up while in the USA (Boston) and… it still works! Been loving all kinds of tunes the last week. Liking suggestions and seeing what other people have in lists. I usually work in silence but I’m enjoying more music lately. Welcome to THE FUTURE.

a very fine artist wouldn’t ya say there

I painted this. With digital paint. I feel it really speaks to my passion for technology and love of life. Full of emo(ticons). I found it today going through old folders. It was a celebrity painting event with Amex and a media peeps. I won an ipad, named him Andy. We’ve been in love since. I painted this too in 2009. It’s done using GE’s Imagination Cubed. Did you ever try it? I just tried to go to imaginationcubed.com and it doesn’t work anymore. It was this rad drawing board with stamps and letters. Ah well, back to ipad drawing it is!

Be creative. Be yourself. Have fun. Get off the computer.

Saw this on O’Nizzle’s blog today and I dig it. Think you will too. What do you do to be creative? I like to let my mind wander. I like long walks by myself. I like to play outside. I love my sketchbook. I like to draw with pastels. I cut up old clothes and make new ones. I call old friends. Classical music. Reminding myself I can do anything. Cleaning my closet. Coffee. Painting. Dancing with arms over head. Writing is especially fun for me. I like poetry, reading, writing mostly. Photography & close up shots on the camera. Old music & fun memories. I like watching Annie Hall or Dead Poets Society. I enjoy sitting by the lake. Running in the rain. Friends are good too. I like to let my mind wander. I guess you could say I’m Borderline Artistic.

your chariot awaits ladies

Looked out the window and saw this big thing downstairs waiting for us. OMG. Yeppers, that big fancy limo was for Chantelle & I. Big thanks to Calvin & Regency Limo for setting up the most awesome airport delivery ever. I had never been in a limo before so I was absolutely buzzing with excitement! Chantelle has been lucky enough to ride in a limo in the past when her friend hired a limo service newark for her 30th birthday. She was still excited to travel like a celeb though! Our driver Andrew even got us coffee. LOVE YOU! It was 5:30am, so necessary! Was kinda like a wild disco in there. If you wanna book one like us ring 416-785-1222. Tell them we’re friends. Sunrise was real pretty this AM. I should wake up earlier more often. I really love mornings. Made it through airport security no prob. They let me take glitter too 😉 Weeeeeeee moving sidewalk: walk, walk, fashion baby. I LOVE YOU ICE CREAM shirt. Sadly, no Timmies on the USA side. Wahhh. GLITTER GRAFITTI @ YYZ. Borderline artistic strikes again. I would like to watch this show. Flying in to Atlanta. Man, it was hot there. Hot-lanta, I get it. Big thanks to Telus & Motorola for my phone & great mobile service. I love you. Wifi onboard? OMG THAT’S ME, INTERNET! P.S. The big yellow bag I have and all my other fav purses are Nella Bella & they are having a SAMPLE SALE on Thursday at the Studio 401 Richmond. Info below. GO get yourself something nice!

some things i love (right now)

Sun on the face & warm air when I roll outta bed and go to balcony. First thing I do is check phone, get up, check computer, grab camera, go outside. The Lake, the Airport, the many people on their travels to work. This vintage Lion Breweries New Zealand Olympic Team shirt that was Mum’s. Buckler Men’s undies. SO COMFY (even if you don’t have a package to fill them out but probably more comfy if you do). Have been using some really great products lately and figured it was about time I share with you. I always test things out for a before I tell you about them and I only talk about what I like [DISCLAIMER]. You’ll notice I enjoy products that don’t have too much scent, are clean feeling & soft on the skin. L-R: Dermaglow Oil Free Cleanser – soft on face, gentle, hardly no scent Dermaglow Daily Moisturizing Lotion – soft, no smell, clean feeling Dermaglow Wringle Release Serum – see how young I look? Yeah. Use it all the time. Goldwell Ultra Volume Leave-In Boost Spray – good volume, doesn’t make hair icky or greasy Cheeky Monkey Nailpolish in Party Whore – Yes, that’s the real name. Colour is my fav! Redken UV Body Rescue – Stuff is amazing is you love sun like me. Treats skin post tanning & has a soft glistening glitter. Thursday Plantation Tea Tree Antiseptic Cream – MOSQUITO BITES. I hate them. Lotion is cool & soothing w/ tingle. Givenchy Play – Smell is soft, feminine & good for summer. Bottle is metal so great for travel, throwing in purse etc. Givenchy Blush Gelee – Hot pink jelly blusy, one colour for all skin tones. First blush I’ve used on regular. The Body Shop Body Butter Duo in Vanilla…

I love this city. Have I told you a million times yet? I will. Beauty dress from Bicyclette. Spins real nice. Nice bathing suit. Vintage cowboys, kinda hurt feet sometimes although cute. My glitter is still here. There. Do you know where? Here. Near. Light beer or Beveldere? Boats. Grass. Sports of all sorts! fun 🙂 Enjoy the day. You’re younger today then you will ever be again! xo

borderline artistic strikes again

See these two babes (no not me) Chantelle & Alana! They know me longer than you or the internet! OMGCANYOUBELIEVEIT. Chantelle and I danced together when I was 3+ years old. Alana lived down my street and used to play with u. She also used give us her old clothes. It was AMAZING to hang out the other day. They both say HI MUM! Mum, please try & ring me tonight. I miss you heaps & have so much to tell you. If you see glitter like this somewhere, you know I was there. Borderline Artistic. Look at this sad sight. Swan on a pile of garbage down by the lake. Heart break. Weather has been so lovely the last couple days. Today is an exception, kinda chilly out there. MORE GLITTER. BORDERLINE ARTISTIC STRIKES AGAIN. We were chillin’ and all of a sudden CP24 Breaking was there to do a story. No, not on me. Two mins later SF News was there. That’s Sweden. There were there filming this tall glass of water, here he comes. Voila! He’s playing TFC on Saturday. Jonathan, do you know his name? Something like Stephen or Stephan Fry. Then I tried to ride this bad boy but my feet couldn’t really reach the pedals making it nearly impossible to ride. Chantelle is taller so she was fine. I have to go get ready for class now. That sounds funny. I’d love to teach a class. Would you take it if it was a Sat. or Sun. afternoon workshop? Maybe I’ll put some more thought into that idea. I love teaching and talking. Wanna book me to speak at your event/school/office/bbq/party? Book me here. P.S. I really love Bruno Mars. Like, srsly.
