in a new york state of mind

Happy Friday! This baby was leaked this morning! HELLLS YEAH> Aiden is back. I love John Corbett. He’s like, my dream man, the sexiest. If you’re him, or kinda like him, let me know. I’m right here waiting for you. Was just staring at his photo for a min and I’ve totally dated a few of J.Corbett doppelgängers,  prime example right here. Mass Exodus last night was fun. Always a great time hanging out with the girls. We got called Fairies cause we looked so cute, all bleach blonde/pink/grey hair, stylish & short. Why did we not take a photo of us? Ah well. We had great seats and  Fritz Helder was my fav part. There was some really interesting designs, I have a bunch of notes to go over this weekend but for now here’s a few of my fav designs. All the pix are by the lovely Lynsie Roberts.

like graffiti on the walls of the heartland

It’s alive! FORA launched last night and so far the buzz is pretty positive. It’s a fashion magazine about beauty, trends and has contributions from featured bloggers and a couple friends. I’d love you to check it out and let me know what you think. All the images link to the site so click-click away! This is the cover, it’s animated and features Dan & Jessi from The After Show on MTV Canada. There is video content throughout the magazine. Click on the image to see the this video of behind the scenes at the shoot for the cover. I’ve mentioned Shop My Clothes a a couple different posts here and here. Jonny and I have been friends for a couple years & he’s our contributor giving  you Spring style tips for dudes. He’s a super stylish 😉 Breanna wrote about dating and the social media dating game. I’m sure you’ve checked out her blog, Unbrelievable, a couple times already. She’s got so many great dating stories on there! Remember when we all wore those great dresses to the FORA Launch party? They were from Peach Berserk! I interviewed Kingi, the founder/designer about her shop. Click the image to read it! The last page is a little sneak peek of what’s coming up in the next content update; there’s new pix, vids and articles. Woot. If you wanna contribute to future issues email me at [email protected]. I’ve been having some serious anxiety the last couple days, I’m not sure when it comes from but it’s lingering and annoying. Stayed home in my room night last night. Wrote a blogpost, will publish later on. Put on my red Moovboots today and jumped in a few puddles on my way in just to kick up my spirits. No matter what, don’t let…

in a past life i was a blog

I’m recently watched Objectified, a doc about objects and design. I’ve been waiting, wanting to watch this and sit in my room for ages. Me, my bed, my gadgets; laptop, camera, flipcam, phone, monitor, sketchbook, reading book, memory cards, usb/wall charger. Objects of my affection. The whole time I’m thinking about web and design, blogging and user interaction, activity. “a big part of who you are as a designer is the way you look at the world” jonathan ive, senior vp industrial design, apple This is also a big part of what makes a good blogger, the ability to show the world how you see it through a different perspective. Taking something and designing it to be interesting. “when you see an object, you make so many assumptions about that object” The movie is artistic and filled with industrial design, computer technology, ergonomics, materials, form, connecting, analog, digital, spoon, chair, shape, look, feel. Making gadgets  better.  Making things user friendly. “improve the way people do things without them really knowing or thinking about it” “users react very positively when things are clear and understandable” What are you saying in your header,  the way your blog/website move, images, widgets, pages, reading, writing, categories, colours, links. themes. There’s so many things to think about, so many opportunities to show creativity in detail, design. phases of modern design formal logic or the object symbolism, content, rituals, cultural symbolism contextual sense, technological, human/object relationships “everything that has ever filled your world had been designed” “every object tells a story, it depends how you look at it.” henry ford

TGIF: time for a little vaaaaaaaaaaacation

This has been a really busy week. Feeling more Gah Gah than GaGa. I’m usually busy, but  seriously, this week has me totally tuckered. Go-go-go non-stop. Everyday. Mama’s tired. Quite looking forward to hibernating over the weekend. Writing, relaxing,  finishing up KC’s book. Feeling like it’s new sketchbook day.  Have these awesome neon pastels and whole new set of other colours that want me to play with them. I think it’s time. Lisa posted this pic of her, Breanna and I in her post today. So cute! We went to get our dresses fitted all together late week. That in itself, was almost as fun as wearing them to the ball. Thank you so much to everyone who came out last night. I’ve gotten heaps of positive feedback. Here’s a couple posts from Melissa, Romi and Sean. I made some vids and will get them up over the weekend. First, I need a break-ation from the interwebs and doing stuff. I’m exhauzzzzzzzzted. I realized after my talk last night that I would have no problem filling up an hour, I barely got down to detail.   Really excited to plan the next event with Carly. If you have questions or wanna chat consulting, email me casie at casiestewart dot com or contact Carly at Fairlie Agency. I’d be happy to help you or your brand. That’s all for now.  Toodalooooooooo!! Posted some hot shit on my Tumbr Blog OH CASIE. Enjoy 🙂 Happy Friday peeps!

WWKCD: What would Kelly Cutrone do?

I watch more then I listen, but I dig the Gossip Girl style. Always dressed up, classy. I started K.C’s book today. Gonna read a little more before bed. I’m about twenty pages and into it. Her attitude is totally refreshing. She doesn’t put up with whiny, negative, bitchy, complainers, and she knows what she’s doing because she worked at it. I find her to be quite admirable and I’m looking forward to seeing her IRL. I love this: “Because, if you’re the kind of person who senses there’s something out there beyond whatever it is you’re expected to do- if you want to be extra-ordinary- you will not get there by hanging around a bunch of people who tell you you’re not extraordinary. … We have a saying in New York: when you’re the most happening person at the party, it’s time to leave.” – Kelly Cutrone, If You have to Cry, Go Outside       She grew up in a small town and always wanted the city. It’s inspiring to learn about people that do the kinda things you like doing. I’m glad I got her book today, I was due for a new one since that bee sting book before last Fall. I like reading. I read more books in the summer, winter is online time. I like to bike somewhere  with my book and lay under a tree,  on a park bench in the sun. Did you know Kelly Cutrone used to read tarot cards  AND married Andy Warhol’s protégé, Ronnie Cutrone at 21? She has worked with the best fashion designers and heaps of interesting creative peeps. ELLE wrote about her here and asked a bunch of questions. This is my favorite Q/A: On witchcraft: “A lot of people think I’m a Wiccan. I’m…

naked people have little or no influence on society

Feeling the spring fever. It’s lovely walking to work in the brightness. Great way to start the day. Ramping up stuff for the magazine at work. Toronto Blog Girl stuff is picking up speed. My Harajuku Girls are coming by Friday learn about blogging. What they don’t know yet is that I’m putting them to WORK. Fairy Blog Mother. Today I am wearing a dress from Shop My Clothes that’s by a Japanese designer. I love the print heaps, very springy. It was really long so I chopped it and used the excess fabric to make a circle scarf. Black Betsy Johnson tights from Winners. Gold boots were black leather from Vintage 69. I spray painted them gold. Andy Warhol used to do that. Trench, cardigan, & heart locket are from H&M. Bag was a gift  Calvin Klein. THANKS! I’m a judge in this FAB contest from Peach Beserk. It’s only open to elementary, high school and college/university students but the prizes are AWESOME. So if you can enter, DO IT. Clothes make the man. you can’t fly with the eagles if you’re with the seagulls

Met Louis Lautman last night at Notable TV’s premiere of The YES Movie. I asked him to tell you about the movie since it’s his movie [see video]. He said it’s kinda like The Secret on steroids meets MTV. Would really like to know if the young peeps in the movie have blogs, Tweet etc.  Also, making lotsa money like that, these kids should be rocking serious style/designer shit.  Was surprised at the style, I expected more savy! Watched part of the movie today. Couldn’t make it last night, stopped by to see Raymi before #genyto #canLit. Nice guy, very tall and says ‘theater’ with an accent. He started the Young Entrepreneur Society, so naturally  I chatted him about entrepreneurship. I’m really into the big E. I firmly believe and know I can have anything I want , this is my life. He also told me he didn’t know how to spell ‘entrepreneurship’ for a long time, said lots of people have trouble with it. I’ve never had that problem. I won Young Entrepreneur of Cambridge when I was 15 for starting a publishing company. Little did I know then I’d become a modern daily internet  daily social publisher.  I spend lotsa my time going to these events, Tweetups, Genyto, etc these babies are really all about a crowd, a crown full of entrepreneurial thinkers. Either write something worth reading or do something worth writing. B.Franklin Watched one of Lou’s (can I call you Lou?) video on the YES Ning network and it was about internship and inspiring. I always wanted to intern somewhere really cool but those days passed. In the year 2000 I worked work at a marketing company sorting catalogs for the summer.  Boring. Really excited to be mentoring about 6 girls from PR at Humber College.…

you’re gonna love these guys

Can you guess what they are? Shoe accessories! Fuckyeahamazing.  They’re called shoellery and these babies are perfect for making (cheap ass) shoes look more expensive and super stylish. They’re pretty badass so I was stoked when they hooked me up. Dragon’s Den & Jeanne Beker love them too. There’s so many different ones like sparkly shoe straps, boot sleeves, leg warmers. Tey’re designed in Italy & this chain one is my fav. SO hot. They range from $20 to about $125 and you can buy them online.  Sending the suede/rhinestone one out to a friend & keeping the leather one as seen on Barbie at a fetish party. Now, I’d really love if someone sent me shoes to go with them! Mohahaaaaaaaaa!

clothes on my back, somebody take my picture

On set today for shoot for that MTV magazine I’ve hardly mentioned. I’ll have more details to spill soon. Just trust me that it’s cool exciting and you’re gonna like it. This is that guy, y’know Dan Levy, he hosts The After Show. I was looking at all the beauty clothes from Holts and drooling imagining wearing them. One day I tell ya, one day I’ll get there; dressed from head to toe in my favorite vintage pieces carefully matched with ridiculously beautiful and expensive designer digs. Ah… Until then, I tried on shoes that didn’t fit whilst still wearing American Apparel sport socks. Yeah, whatever. Louboutin studly slingbacks, love you.

i don’t know, sometimes i just don’t feel like it

Feeling refreshed today. Got up, made coffee sun is shining bright. Full moon last night was a real beaut, that Shewolf came outta my closet. Dreamt I dyed my hair silver grey and shaved both sides. Grew it longer on top too, it looked awesome. It just might look awesome.  Started watching Secret Diary of a Call girl online, it’s a pretty entertaining show.  Especially Friday night at home alone &  cozy in your bed. I rely on my phone alarm and it stuffed up twice this week freezing in the night, thus meaning I wake with just enough time, but no extra. Drives me freaking bananas, that extra time is the whole reason I SET an alarm. Next week, new alarm.  I spent a while reading Tavi Genston’s blog last night. You know her? She’s the new girl in town, Style Rookie, a serious 13 year old fashion blogger. She’s 100% awesome. Skipped last night’s AdWeek ball to hibernate in my cave.  I go through stages every once in a while where I don’t feel like internetting.  Last night, that’s how I felt, internet overload. Today, ready again but still hibernating where it’s sunny and warm 🙂

it’s like holding the internet right in your hands

I think getting a ipad would only fuel my internet addiction. I would become more obsessed with blogging, tweeting and uploading content…well, except there’s no multitasking, flash or camera…so maybe not. I’m a PC. itampon was trending on Twitter today, seems ladies ain’t happy with the name of Apples new little baby haha. P.S. APPLE if you are listening to me and the internet, give me a tablet to test out. I’m cooler than ijustine and way less annoying. Thanks. Love you.

hump day: fashion forward and puking rainbows

I’ve been really busy at work lately.  It’s fun for me. Today, I had an awesome gathering at my desk about blog redesign. That stuff gets me really excited. haha. “talk nerdy to me”.  I also set up a MuchMusic tumblr. I got included in a big meeting recently about the olympics & social media. Cool stuff.  We’ve got another big meeting about social media plans for the Help 4 Haiti telethon. I love being part of all this stuff. One of the MOST exciting things to cross my plate is that MTV Canada is launching  a fashion/beauty magazine in March and…[drum roll please]..I’m the Editor in Cheif! Can’t share too many details yet but it’s gonna be fun. I always wanted to work for MuchMusic , dreamt of MTV and  visioned work for a fashion magazine…now I do! OMG. It’s alot of work but that means an opportunity to show I can handle it. I just feel sofuckingexcited every day,  I almost puke rainbows. Also, #GenyTO anniversary party is coming up (Feb.5)  and tomorrow night I’m having a little Jersey Shore Finale/Makeover party. Look out! Girls gonna be gettin’ Snookified! Have a  great day xo

detroit rock city

I’ve spent the last couple days at Caesars Casino. It’s quite a sight. The carpets in casino’s are a real piece of work. You may not have really thought about it or noticed before, but you should.  He who designs casino carpets must be out of this world or on some really good drugs. Windsor is a bit of a crummy looking place. It’s not nearly as shiny and bright as Toronto, however, they’ve got a nice bar of you like strippers. Babe alert, saw a few hotties. No photos, I wish. Sorry. Got hassled at the border as I’m using my new Zealand passport. Not fun. US Border Patrol now has my finger prints and nice smiley photo of me. I was shocked and kind of appalled of the huge fist in Detroit. What is the significance of it? PLEASE tell me. Oh thanks Internet…It’s a 24-foot bronze fist, which is poised as if to strike, honors legendary boxer (and Detroit native son) Joe Louis. [Dear God, please, please let me have a better statue that a big fist to remember me by if I ever have have one. Thank you.] The artist is really a comedian I think. I enjoy going  through tunnels. I always think about movies where people get trapped in them and it gets all dramatic and stuff. I said “oh, I’d hate to get trapped in here” and then the next day, coming back to Canada, we hit traffic in the tunnel. It wasn’t scary though. The nav system showed us as in the middle of the water, that was a little scary. haha. That’s all for now.
