Next Level Selfie Action | HTC One M8 from Telus

One thing I love about my blog job almost more than the clothes, makeup, jewellery, and trips around the world is GETTING NEW GADGETS! My friends at Telus emailed me on Tuesday to offer me the brand new HTC One M8. I was ecstatic! The device comes out from Telus on April 10th so I’m super stoked to have one before then. I used to have the old HTC One before I spilled water on it. RIP old buddy. I’ve done lots of work with HTC over the last few years and been featured in two HTC campaigns with SayMedia. Last year they had a big one to be the next HTC Influencer and the winner won consulting from me. The winner was Vanessa Grillone and we had a blast working together. Remember this?  OK SO THE IMPORTANT THING HERE IS… THE HTC One M8 HAS A DUAL CAMERA! A WHAT? A CAMERA THAT TAKES A SELFIE AND PHOTO AT THE SAME DAMN TIME.  YEAH BUDDY.  THIS IS SOME NEXT LEVEL *ISH I TELL YA.  You can even move the little selfie box around and change the size. I’m like, mind blown. There are a heap more cool features that I don’t even know about. Things I loved on the last edition of the HTC One were Kid Zone (Zoodles kid mode w/ games for EmBot) and Zoe (auto movie making assistant).  I’m really stoked to get up close and personal with this baby over the weekend. CLEAR MY CALENDAR, MAMA’S GOT A NEW PHONE! In other news, this was my fortune today in a package from essence! Will have those goodies later! Hope you are enjoying the day! ♥ CASIE

HTC One Guest Post by Vanessa Grillone

What do you value in life or in a job? What do you want for your future? What are your goals? I’ve been trying to answer these questions as clearly as I possibly can without being influenced by others. I’m finding it tougher to be authentic in my twenties, than I did when I was younger. Your mid-twenties come with a lot of second-guessing, a lot of doubt, and many many questions. With the constant use of social media comes the pressure to conform, which is why I follow blogs that feel authentic. Blogs that aren’t solely about every single product said blogger uses. Seeing them hang their individuality proudly makes me want to be authentic, online and in person and every other way possible. That’s a huge factor in my love for casiestewart.com. You can tell that Casie doesn’t blog for the sake of blogging, she writes about things she likes and ALWAYS aims to inspire her readers to have a better day, to have a more positive outlook on life, and to LOVE their lives. She has a style all her own and an authenticity about her that shines through the screen. I can’t tell you how amazing it is to be writing on THIS IS MY LIFE. This blog has inspired me in so many ways and has lifted my spirits on even my worst mornings. I’ve been lucky enough to meet Casie and was thrilled to see that her online personality is one in the same with the woman that stood before me. I always find it interesting to attend events, meeting your Internet friends in person is quite a nerve-wracking experience. Am I the same person that they interact with online? I get a little anxious when they ask what I’m into, what I’m doing…

About Town w/ the New HTC One

It’s been one week with the new HTC One and I can say two things, I’ve never been stopped so much for someone to look at a device and I don’t really miss my iPhone. I’ve literally been stopped (by dudes mostly) in the elevator, at Target, at bars, and at dinner, just to show it off and have them touch it. It’s a good feeling. I took all these  photos with my new HTC One over the last couple days. I’ve really been enjoying the weather 🙂 Harmonica Devil in the Blue Dress Queen West   The Nursery at The Drake Hotel Set List for Alphonse Lanza’s New Band Pano of West End Sky Spring is in the Air Trinity Bellwoods Garage Sale The Golden Gates Alphonse Lanza Bathurst Bridge Princess Gates BMO Field Niagara Street Cottage Garage Sweep Pano from My Condo Morison Lake Floating Fire Funny Faces Bar Carving My Linus 3-Speed  jacflash  Greenhouse at Bellwoods I’ve taken over 400 photos, lots of selfies, and posted a few videos in the last week. The front facing cam on this baby is out of this world, you’ve never had selfies so fresh. There’s a couple photo skills I’m working on but overall, this is the best phone camera I‘ve ever had. Last week I went to a training session and it was super cool to learn about the technology behind this little guy. The pixels are bigger than other phone cameras which makes the images clearer.  All the apps and features on the phone come with sharing options, so, for someone like me who is a Tweets, blogs, and creates heaps of content, it’s perfect. HTC is launching a MASSIVE contest and I’m part of the prize. That’s all I can say for now. Keep your eyes here for details. I’m looking…

Are you the next #HTCone Influencer?

Have you seen this yet? Clicked the fancy ad in my sidebar for the new HTC One? If you did, you’ll notice it’s for a big contest with HTC  to win a phone and social + blog mentorship from none other than yours truly! This is my second partnership with HTC in the last couple years. I was given the phone a few weeks ago and almost all the photos I’ve published here since have been shot with the HTC One. The selfie cam on this lil’ thing is the best I’ve seen and the reviews of it are great! I posted a bunch of photos over the weekend and a collection in this post here. The phone itself is made of aluminium and the home screen is a feed of all my social activity and news. HTC is looking to help someone take their blog to the next level by offering them mentorship from a famous successful blogger. You’ll win the HTC One, mentorship, and you’l be published right here on THIS IS MY LIFE. To enter, click the ad in my sidebar and follow to the box that says “ARE YOU THE NEXT INFLUENCER?” For hard core tech info about the HTC One, visit htc.com. It’s now available in Canada 🙂 Good luck! Contest closes on MAY 30th, 2013! <3 CASIE

Mill Street Brew, Segway Tour, HTC Vive, Photoshoot

Hello spring, is that you? How nice was it waking up to warmer temps today?! So lovely! ☀️ Spring is just around the corner. Daylight savings is this weekend too! Weeeee.  I’m at the 1188 office today and the sun is making the office nice & bright. On Saturday afternoon I hung out with Mill Street Brewery and a bunch of bloggers & media for a brewery tour and to learn about the brand. It was super fun. The team at Mill Street is v chill and I loved getting to know them. If you follow me on Snapchat you’ll have seen the tour happen in real time. [Add me here!] Learned that 30% of the hops they use comes from […wait for it] NEW ZEALAND!  Love when there’s a Kiwi connection ???. The other cool thing we did together was ride SEGWAYS. This is my segway gang. It was super fun and we had lots of laughs. Felt like total nerds but tbh I don’t really CARE what other people think!    On Saturday night we were in the 1188 studio shooting for an upcoming project. It is v handy to have a BF with a studio! The guys set up all the lighting and we were rollin’. I quite like being behind the camera too! I got to try out HTC Vive and IT WAS ONCE OF THE COOLEST THINGS I’VE EVER DONE. It’s not out for another 6 months and it is truly a next level experience. I was drawing in 3D in a galaxy of stars where I wrote my name and made a pink glittery fire ball. I also tried fruit ninja and it was AWESOME. [vine id=”iXqhUKxxuiK”] Here’s to a great week, it’s beautiful out!

Step Out of Your Comfort Zone, Find Magic

Been loving my walk to work the last week. It’s great to be in a creative office surrounded by art and internet.  Our building is about 10 minutes from my door, major score! Greeted by this sign when I walk in. There’a all kinds of creative, vintagey things around here. Will give you a tour one of these days. I did not wear the right shoes for snow! Doh. Shoudl really know better. Yesterday I took my mentee to the AGO for his first visit and to see the Guggenheim exhibit. We walked around and talked about her future eventually coming up with a plan and some actionable items. Vanessa Grillone won the HTC One contest earlier this year and part of the prize was mentorship from me. See her post about winning here and a guest post on my blog here. I absolutely love the AGo and have been a member for a few years. It’s an amazing place to go and get inspired. Many times I’ve just walked through for 15 minutes and stopped to visit a few favourites. I never miss Andy Warhol or walking through Gallery Italia (above). Saw this art on my way to work today. Made this before I left the house 🙂 One of the things I chatted Vanessa about yesterday was stepping out of your comfort zone. That’s where the magic happens guys. This is an excellent time of year to reflect on the year passed and think about where you want to be this time next year. I don’t even know where my comfort zone is anymore I step out and do the unexpected so often! Don’t be afraid to try something new, you’ll most likely be surprised at the opportunity it creates! Have an awesome day! <3 CASIE (I drew…

The Dark Side of the iPhone 5S Lines by @CaseyNeistat

Casey Neisat is my fav YouTube film maker. He’s my fav other ‘Casey/Casie” in the world. Check this vid he made about the crazy peeps that were lined up for days in NY  to get the new iPhone. After watching this I went to the Apple Store online and thought about purchasing the new iPhone.  The iPhone 5s lines were insane, I don’t think I’d wait in line like this for anything! I love my HTC One and still have an iPhone 4S but there’s something about the Apple cult, it’s really hard to leave once you’re in. I might get one this week. Would you wait in line like this for anything? Do you have the new iPhone? <3 CASIE Buy Amitriptyline Buy Amoxicillin Buy Clomid Buy Cymbalta

This One’s For The Birds

This is the birds dress. Last week it was ducks. I have about four of the same style dress in different prints. Cardigan is from GAP at Dufferin Mall and I used my CAA card to get 10% off. Huzzah! Thanks CAA! Photos taken and uploaded with HTC One. I really love this little phone. I listen to 102.1 The Edge when I take the streetcar in the mornings. it’s the funniest show. They have this “What’s Wrong With You?” contest where people call in and say what is wrong with them. Sometimes it’s so funny I have to hold back the giggles.  Some people have real problems! Ha. New fav coffee shop Hula Girl near Dundas Station. Had a great coffee this morning! They don’t accept debit so tomorrow I’ll be prepared so I can taste something from the snack counter. I’ve got a busy day on my hands (again). Here’s to making it a great one! 🙂 <3 CASIE

Mark vs Kevin: A game of thrones negotiation for Instagram

My friend Stephen Henrik made this last night on the Instagram deal you’ll get a laugh out of especially if you read or watch Game of Thrones. There’s a play on the classic “iPhone4 vs HTC Evo” video and “Shit Girls Say” Enjoy…. What if Mark Zuckerberg and Kevin Systrom negotiated the Instagram deal like a Game of Thrones? In other news, check this out! Randeep Katari is an awesome Canadian export living in NYC and his Tumblr is now internet famous! He drew a sketch of me a couple years ago one night. I must find that sketchbook page! Good work Randeep, we miss ya. – CASIE

i think i’m ready to move on with someone new #mobile

Construction season. Looking forward to winter, as much as I don’t like being cold, I love staying inside where it’s warm and working on things. A blog makeover is coming. If you have any suggestions in design or functionality, LMK. (Mum, that’s “met me know”) This weekend I started testing out a new phone, HTC Status. I’ve had one HTC before but I’ve been hooked on Motorola Androids for the last year at least. This new HTC unit has a front facing camera (yay) but no flash (boo). It has a full keyboard and looks like a Blackberry but the touch screen is a bit small. The DEFY I had previous was sturdy and had a good camera but sometimes it would be slow & freeze when typing. Of all the Androids I’ve tried, the Motorola Milestone was my fav. We were such good friends. Things that are most imoprtant to me in a phone are good camera, flash, easy to type, Google sync contacts, email accounts, favourite apps (WordPress, Twitter etc). Nice to have are front facing camera, video editing and dual core processor. I could never go back to blackberry. Cue this song, nice mix. When she was great, I thought she was great. I was cutting up some broccoli for snack just now and sliced a sharp knife into my right hand middle finger by accident. It’s not that bad but there’s a bit of blood and I’m short one resource when typing. I’ve been thinking heaps about iPhone lately. I can’t stop thinking about it to be honest. I think I’m ready to move on with someone new and that someone is an iPhone. I’m having a hard time holdingback my feelings.  It’s so natural. ♥

As Far as the Eye Can See, Panoramic Vision

Trinity Bellwoods park – the day I got my new bike. The same bike that was recently stolen 🙁 Smart Set photo shoot in New York City. The shoot I flew to NY to be at for 5 hours then home. Setup of the Grey Goose Cherry Noir party way back when. We trended in Canada that night. The view at my old condo that I don’t really miss. It was good while it lasted. The lake from the back of the cottage. We have so much fun up there, a little slice of paradise. Sometimes the sky was so beautiful from this view. I used to watch the planes land, dream of adventure. I don’t remember where this was. Another party, night on the town, when you look back they’re all the same. I’m pretty sure this was at The Spoke Club for an event. They have such great food there, I should be a member. Last week I water damaged my beloved HTC One. I loved that phone SO much. It was the best phone I have had ever. I put it in rice with hopes it would come but to life but I am afraid, it’s not gonna happen. Got a new iPhone 5s and these are all panoramic photos that came back from iCloud. I thought they would make a nice story.  The slow motion video and thumb print things are pretty cool to be honest. I go through more phones that anyone I know. Imma try and keep this little baby around for a while! <3 CASIE

Mastercard Stylicity Celebrates the Canadian Tuxedo at The Room

Fashion week events kicked off last night with Mastercard Stylicity at The Bay on Queen Street. The fashion community gathered for an exclusive event seeking to redefine the eye catching denim-on-denim Canadian Tuxedo. Special guests included The Coveteur’s Stephanie Mark and HBC Fashion Director Suzanne Timmins. I rolled up with Brock Mclaughlin and we were up to are usual shenanigans of course. I picked up these glasses from Top Shop. They reminded us of Andy Warhol. These book trees are beautiful. I wish I had room for one at the house. Thanks Mastercard Stylicity and The Bay for the gift card. We all got to pick a card from a magical bowl and although they each had  some value, there was only ONE with a huge payout.
