There’s a good chance you didn’t want to go to work today. The last two weeks were a weird time of year, you’re home and working less (physically/mentally) and it’s easy to forget what day it is. Or get fully dressed and leave the house if you’re anything like me.  If you’re reading this from Canada, it’s probably the coldest day of the year. Toronto is around -14 degrees ? and I’m heading up north to the wilderness to spend a few days in a treehouse. Crazy? No, awesome! Adventure! I’ve packed a ton of warmies and food. Good thing I’ve got those vintage snowsuits. Yesterday was a really rad day, bff brunch, cleaned house, ditched the ?, ran my fastest km, and made some great food. Feeling good about life, personal, professional, health. Mantra for 2016 is SUNNY AND BRIGHT. Was thinking last night and decided whoever said ‘the struggle is real’ wasn’t working hard enough. Well ladies & gents, 2016 is here and I am so glad.  16 is a favourite number of mine and to be honest 2015 was a hard year. Felt I was getting off track a bit and my health wasn’t 100%, so,  I’m facing 2016 with a clear head and excitement. The tattoo I have on my left arm is 16 dots, evenly spaced, in two shades of green like a beaded bracelet. It’s a perfect square, and 16 2x 8, my fav number of them all.  This is the sweet sixteen!  [symple_divider style=”solid” margin_top=”5″ margin_bottom=”5″] Today was a good day, went out for a drive around 9:30am, the streets were bare and the air was calm. After, I made a nice breakfast and spent some time cleaning up the house. I had this plan where I wanted to go out and take a great photo with my GoPro and a confetti cannon. After driving around with BF and child, we wound up getting lunch and coming home. I went out to an alley near our place by myself, set up my camera, and popped the cannon. Much to my disappointment, it wasn’t recording video and the confetti made a beautiful display, then flew away in the wind. That moment will forever be in my memory and NOT on Instagram. Whoops! It’s ok, everything doesn’t always go as planned! I took a deep breath, laughed it off to myself and went back home where it was warm. This is my first selfie of 2016. I mean it’s my ACTUAL first selfie in the 20 I took to get a nice one (which we all know is what happens). I added some lighting to brighten it up a bit, but the first one is always the best. This week was a busy one! I was looking through photos and decided it would be a good idea to take a look back. Monday I was back on Sirius XM co-hosting the Todd Shapiro Show. It was super fun. Listen to it here.   I’m working on a big project at 1188 and we had a meeting over foot massages. SMARTEST IDEA. There’s a little spot at Queen/Portland, $25 for 30min. Not prices like Thailand but the massage was just as good! Work work.  Tuesday was the NKPR pre-TIFF media event at Natasha’s house. Tahnee was there! It was great to see all the fashion/media peeps after a long relaxing summer. The crazy is about to begin! Can’t wait for TIFF. Recognize these bachelors? Tim (L) and I shot a TV show earlier this year with NKPR. Todd isn’t a bachelor anymore tho. Brad (R) is on TV in Canada and a former Bachelor for those of you not from here.   The NKPR IT Lounge has been going on for 10 years. It’s a VIP gifting suite and portrait studio. Caitlin Cronenberg is shooting it for W Magazine again this year. I’ll be popping by on Sept. 9th. Wednesday night Greta Constantine hosted La Piscine. Working from the cottage today. It’s turning out to be an absolutely beautiful day so hoping to wrap up early and make the most of the sunshine. Garret is up with some models and crew shooting an editorial for Archibald Men’s magazine. I’ve been taking breaks from my work to ‘supervise’. Can’t say I mind having these babes around one bit! Last week really tuckered me OUT.  Fitting 5 days work into 4 days is exhausting. I spent most of the weekend relaxing, horizontal on the couch at home and at the cottage. On Friday night, there was nothing I wanted more than to stay on our couch, watch Jeopardy then a movie, and get a good sleep. Saw Lucy and Still Alice this weekend. Alice was very sad, Lucy was cool but didn’t actually make much sense. Took a few mins to chill in the sun on the 1188 patio Friday. The afternoon sun out back is perfect for taking a break from the AC or working from your phone as I so often do.  Modern millennial mama. ☀️💁 Walked past these dudes on Friday and found this amusing. Manicure was holding up nice on Friday but a weekend at the cottage is a sure way to ruin it. Monday I started bright and early (crack of dawn 6am!) with this great group of ladies for a Nike Training Session.  Hosted by Sidewalk Hustle and taught by Nike Master Trainer Eva Redpath, it took place at Malaparte inside the TIFF Bell Lightbox.  I really loved the workout and didn’t mind getting up at 5:15 but today I am hurting. Omg. My hamstrings, arms, glutes, it was a total body workout.  THANKS EVA! We’re training as a group for the next few weeks and although I’m sore today, can’t wait for our next session.  We got hooked up with matching shoes and I totally love them. I don’t usually wear runners but these flashy little guys will be making rotation in my wardrobe.  They’re the Nike Free 5.0 w/ flywire and motion control, they’re also super light.   After work  yesterday I went for a 45 min bike ride and I really don’t think that was the best idea.  Getting back on the bike after mine was stolen last year has been great for then legs and arms.    Taking it easy today and giving myself and extra hour of sleep. Here’s a great quote I saw over the weekend. Soar don’t settle.  I may not be training for any of the 10K races or marathons but I AM training for the marathon of life. Oh hey, guess who? It’s me your friend from across the internet. Working away at the computer most the day. Monday is my ‘don’t leave the house and write as much as you can’ day. Spend a bunch of time sitting on the couch with my Macbook yesterday but fell into scrolling things on the phone, deep into a Netflix binge and did nothing from my To Do list. I find the weekends are really important for me to chill out. I used to blog every single day and it was really draining. Now, I aim for 5 posts per week and if I feel inspired to write a few more, good for me. The more documenting the better. Today when I did leave the house I was at Lit Espresso bar on Roncy and the staff were trying to name one of the girl’s blog. A staffer guy said ‘My Bloggy Lies Over the Ocean’ and I thought it was so funny, got totally distracted paying for my sweet treat. Title today inspired by that guy, good one buddy!
