get a heart on this holiday season

You can’t rain on my parade! It’s gonna rain all week and if you need some sunshine you can find it here. I was happy to see a Christmas Tree standing in the window of the bank on my way to work this morning. I’m not really a big Christmas-loving-person but I really love giving. This season, I’m planning to some some serious giving of my time, energy,  PRESENTS to you my readers. For the holidays, a bunch of us behind #GenyTO have launched a campaign called Heart for Holidays. Our goal is to raise $20,000 for Hospice of Canada. Our donation does directly to families affected by terminal illness and give them food and gifts to be able to enjoy what might be the last holiday season they share together. We’re having a party on December 4th and we’d all love you to come. If you can’t make it, it would be really nice of you to purchase a ticket so you can still be involved in the giving. Trust me, giving feels so good inside. If you would like to donate a prize, gift basket or some moolah to our event for Hospice of Canada. Email, Tweet, or holler at me and we’ll sort out the details. Have an awesome day! Happy Monday Tuesday!

high heels and moving furniture

Had a good sleep, feel rested. Fun weekend. We went antique shopping yesterday and found some jems. They need to be photographed before I tell you about them, they’re really that good. Rode the street car to work in the rain this morning. It was packed like sardines and I had some young guys armpit in my face for half the ride. I wore my Wellies and a rubber coat. I love when it rains,  I love wearing rain gear. The best thing about us moving on a rainy day is not going outside. We get keys to our new unit tonight; better view, higher up, more space.  I’v managed to avoid a case of the Mondays and am quite looking forward to the rest of the day. That’s all for now. Have a great day 🙂 * photos by Kelly Kruschel

it was so weird at the time, i couldn’t stop myself

i’m not sure what happened but it did. i light went on. it was a few things that lead me there. creative people around me, compliments on creative work, being surrounded by smart, successful, creative business people. thinking about ‘it’s not how good you are it’s hot good you wanna be’, one of my favorite books. i feel like i can’t really go back now. they say if you do what you love you will have success, i love doing this. i love writing and taking photos and laughing at myself and remembering thing things i forget. it makes me happy to do social good; social good in funness, good causes, good people. i stayed up all night. learning about things. reading blogs, commenting. drawing in sketchbook.when i have an idea i write it down. i’ve found some neat stuff lately and most i’ve posted on my tubmlr blog. it’s all the things i find around the internet that i don’t put here but like to share. i read a great article called ‘the 7 vices of highly creative people, posted on salon.com, Feb. 9, 200o. i know i have my vices and bad habits, but i have good ones too. read it here. “If you go through life free of bad habits, you won’t live forever, but it will feel like it. ”

john butler is amazing

I was biking home on Monday night and stopped to the side of the road before crossing the street. I was feeling sad that day and then double sad I didn’t have a ticket to my favorite show.  My ringer was off but I reached for my phone to have a peek. Karrera was calling that exact minute and she had an extra ticket. I’ve seen John Butler in Toronto a few times since my first time in Sydney 2004. The crowd was so into this show and we all watched with amazement while sweating our asses off.  Good vibes in the air. It’s his solo tour and I was thinking I would miss his long dreds and the stand up bass. I didn’t, he over satisfied my need for good music.  I have so many videos and photos. The opening act was Nicky Bomba, also totally wicked and Australian. Karrera is moving to BC today.  She had just gotten back that day from seeing all kinds of bands for a week at Rothbury Fest. ZAAmazing stories about Grateful Dead and Willie Nelson.  I hadn’t seen Lisa Baker in ages, I miss her. We’ve all been friend since we were kiddios. Thought of her the day before when Now & Then came on before bed. Coincidence, no. Ocean is my favorite song. I made about 5 videos while he was playing, the song is long and beautiful. There’s some more videos here. If you’ve never heard of John Butler you should seriously go to Google right now and learn. He is amazing.

thank you for a great weekend

I had a great weekend filled with relaxing, a little partying, some shopping, pool time, sun tanning, friends and lots of fun. I’m stoked for a short week as I fly out to Miami on Friday for the weekend. I’m very excited.Good thing I got those new bikini’s, I’ll be needing them. Sabrina and I had a lovely time in the sun yesterday. It was so warm out while blocked by the wind. I’m a very lucky girl, I got new glasses again. It seems I can never have enough. I have a drawer filled with heaps of pairs. I finally tossed about five pairs that were old ugly guys or broken. I also took a tour in Kensington on Monday and paid a kid draw to a portrait of me. It cost $2.00 and this is what it looks like. I put it on the fridge, I figure if I leave it there for 20 years I might get a good return on this young artists work. ha! Celebrate creativity! His name is Chris Scriver.

Today I checked tweetstats.com to check out some of the stats about my Twitter interactions. I learned that I tweet about 22.6 times each day. I’m sure it’s quite a bit more from Monday to Friday cause I take breaks on the weekend to actually DO fun stuff to tweet about. This is a Wordle of my tweets. The biggest word is what I use the most and that is LOVE. Second biggest deal, @erin_bury.

where in the world is carmen sandiego?

If not for the weather, it is definitely spring judging by the amount of going out I’ve been doing over the past week! This morning I located the Elusive Carmen on Twitter and has a pretty cool site with agents and stuff. I like it. I am now following @vile, Carmen has tips on interesting things. I feel like I have so much to share! On Monday night I had drinks with the lovely Aga followed by the Raphael Saddiq show at the Phoenix with Bonga and some friends. I ran into Rahim otherwise knows as @funkstop. Then I saw this cute girl. It was a great show. As usual, I showed up fashionable & late when it was already in progress. Such is life!

fatty tuesday, what’s for lunch?

I’m wondering what to have for lunch today. We get catered lunched in the office on Monday, Wednesday and Friday so today, it’s all about me and whatever I want. I’ve been trying to avoid eating McDonalds as I have been eating it religiously my whole life. Lucky enough, I’m still mini. I’m a big pho lover traditionally but when I went home for family day I had a really bad pho at Ben Thahn in Cambridge and I’m just not feeling it. I ordered the wrong one and it had nasty meat parts that I can’t describe. That’s what you get for not REALLY reading the menu. Tonight I’m going to Facebook Camp Toronto 5 at Mars. I’m interested to hear how Twitter will be brought up, if at all. Although, I can’t imagine it just not coming up. I wonder what I might learn? This is my date @shawnhawaii. He is the coolest.
