Write It Down

I’m ready. I’ve always been ready but now I feel it in my bones. The last few days have been filled with excitement, creativity, and I’m stoked about life. I took an adventure into a few notebooks I’ve scribbled in from the stack beside my bed, I was reminded how much I truly love writing. When I was 15 I wrote and published  an anthology of poetry & prose and I never really stopped. I’m keen to have a book written by December 1, 2012. I’m writing it down & telling you to make it real.  In other news, while I was Googling myself in Google Books I found out that BRIAN SOLIS mentioned me in his book “The End of Business as Usual“. I have blogged about him a few times and I love his work. Smart man. My credit in Dear Photograph also came up. I’m taking that as a sign I’m on the RIGHT TRACK baby!

$2 Short To Take Over The World

That would be he name of a song in my band if I had a band and wrote songs. I can write but I don’t write many songs. I used to write prose and poetry before I had a blog and that made me very happy. A blog is like a long poetic story, this one about my life. I hope it goes on forever and I will go back and read it, living it over and over again. Each day as if it happened yesterday. A romance. There was something disarming about his smile. I gave him my last cigarette in trade for this photo. I shouldn’t smoke anyways. It’s gross. Tomorrow night I am seeing a band. A band I did not know, but a band I know now. They are called Blind Pilot and they are from Portland. Thank you to my friend Jonathan for being a legit hipster who knows bands ,for opening my ears to this lovely sound. They are playing the dinner at the Ford Design conference. You might like them too. I do.  [arve url=”https://youtu.be/8qyoxYEM3mI”]

Personality is Everything in Art and Poetry.

Exciting week just passed and I am SO ready for a getaway! Tomorrow I’m scooting up north to the countryside with Barbie to a friends cottage. Give me nature, lake, silence and sunshine. YES PLEASE. Please be careful this weekend, wear sunscreen, don’t drink & drive, and play safe. May24 is the kick-off to summer, make it a good one! Next weekend is Memorial Day in the USA and I’ll be in the sunshine state soaking up Florida rays. Can’t wait! Have an awesome day! <3 CASIE * title is a quote  by  Johann Wolfgang von…

Blog Life: Sometimes I don’t feel like it. #6

Today was a really busy business day and all I feel like doing is getting a huge slice of chocolate cake and sitting on the couch. It’s my fav night for TV, Criminal Minds & Modern Family. I want to shut my brain off but there is no brain off button. I didn’t blog today until now which usually gives me anxiety but to I just didn’t really feel like today. I tweeted, had my hair done and went to a PR event. I made a couple drafts but nothing made it to publish. I’ve been reading poetry while I watch TV that I wrote years ago. I used to write all the time. Did you know I was a published author in 1996? I co-wrote an anthology of poetry and prose. Lots of work from 2003-2008 lives on MySpace in a far away blog from many moons ago. I’ve been thinking about sharing it here, I just might 😉 Updated the old drawing blog Borderline Artistic too. It’s gettin’ artsy around here ladies & gentlemen.  Rogers included part of this old video on my episode last night, which was amazing by the way. Super humbled by the whole thing. I can’t wait to show you. Enjoy! ♥ CASIE Wind Lift The wind lifts a tissue, Roughly tosses it up and around Sharply throwing it to the ground. It races thought people on the street Catching on things as it passes And things it meets. It rises and meets the sky, Gets caught. Finds love.

This one time I sent a really mean valentine.

When I was in primary school this boy Adam really liked me. I was in grade 5, Mrs. Rolt’s class and he was in grade 4. I did not like Adam. I wasn’t a romantic then like I am now. (Mum is going to have a giggle when she reads this.) I made a bunch of valentines on our old computer to give to friends in my class and around school. They were quite lovely, beautiful actually,  I hand coloured the hearts by hand with pencil crayon. (This was back when printer’s were black & white and  the paper had holes on the sides.) I wrote recipients name & class number on valentines and cupid would deliver them by end of day. Well, my valentine for Adam was REALLY special. I coloured his in with special care and signed my name. Before sending I wrote “I HATE YOU” in bold pencil. I hated him. He was really mean to me all the time and I was really upset. It’s not nice to be picked on. As a creative person & writer this is how I dealt with the bully. It was not really the right way to deal, but, hey, I was in grade five and I didn’t know any better. The valentine did NOT go over well. I had a pending application to the leadership council and my Mum got a ring form the school and  was told how “that type of behaviour would not be tolerated” and I should not be a leader on the council.  Mum explained how he had been bullying me and I was upset and I was just a kid and I was a creative person and I had hurt feelings. I got let off the hook and joined the leadership council the following year. Adam was so sad at the…

THERE’S NOTHING WE CAN’T DO

I want a balloon tree. I always have. The Balloon Tree by Phoebie Gilman was one of my favourite books as a child. We used to read heaps of books. Each summer Jenie and I would join the Summer Reading Club at the Preston library. I spent so much of my childhood at that place. I was either there, the dance studio, or gymnastics. I’m pretty sure I had my first reading by Robert Munsch at the Preston library.  I remember meeting Phoebie Gilman and having my photo taken with her. Authors were my celebrities back then.  When I wrote ‘Jeans: an anthology of poetry & prose‘ in 1996 we had our book launch there. We sold over 80 books that night and one dollar from the sale of each went to the Women’s Crisis Shelter.  It was a magical night. I’l never forget how good it feels sitting there signing your own book for a lineup of people. I’ve been (slowly) working on another  book. Write more, read more, that’s what I keep telling myself. I’m a big believer in the power of positive thought and a few things I’ve been thinking about lately are libraries and speaking. Not necessarily together but in general. The crazy thing is, I got an email from Marketing Magazine asking me to speak at an event next month and guess where it is? A LIBRARY. My favourite library in the city, Toronto Reference. We’re talking youth culture and the founder of VICE Magazine will also be there talking about The Creators Project between Vice & Intel. I’ve been a Vice fan for about ten years and have a diploma in marketing so this is all quite exciting. THERE IS NOTHING WE CAN’T DO. The Creators Project is really cool and well, CREATIVE. “I have…

There’s Magic in the Air, Pura Vida!

Went on a gorgeous sailing trip this week with the owners of Anamaya Resort and friends. We drove to the ferry spot and sailed to Tortuga Island one of the most popular & beautiful beaches in Costa Rica. My stay here has been incredibly magical. I have photos and stories but the experience is the most treasured part of it all. Huge thank you to Joseph, Kelsey and Jeff for having me. Anamaya Resort is a slice of heaven. If you are looking for a beautiful vacation, come here. You will feel the magic of Montezuma, taste warm breezes of the ocean and see views that will stay forever in your memory. With love from Costa Rica,

Oh Snap!

Last month Keri & hit up the Lomography shop for the Diana World Tour. Got my first camera from the Lomography shop August 3 (blog history FTW!) and have been playing around with it. I’m using a Sprocket Rocket and although I’ve not had THAT much luck with my shots, it’s fun waiting to get them developed. Here’s my most recent batch! Sorry for cutting off your hear Arianne! This WAS a rainbow. Can you tell where it is? Where I am standing? Preston Music Festival with Mum. Buzny! To the Island w/ B&E Labour Day weekend. I’m kinda getting better, hard to get the hang of it TBH. Hopefully I have more luck with the next round!

#pumasocial: march 10, 2011 @Burroughes #toronto

Last week Toronto was host to the first PUMA Social Club in Canada at the Burroughes Building on Queen Street. It was THE place to be. So many cool peeps and hot babes. Check out this rad vid produced by 1188 Films for Puma with a blonde you will recognize. I love this campaign, I feel it really goes along with my lifestyle. I celebrate more victories at the bar than I do at the gym. See a couple more familiar faces in the vid? A bunch you have seen here over the years if you look real close. Thing is, PUMA pioneers ‘Sportlifestyle’ and has built a their brand on FUN.  I thnk I’m kinda like that too. Hey look, my sis riding a giant moose w/ R’Bull. The whole top floor of the Burroughs was full of people playing games like checkers, operation, ping pong, table hockey, air hockey. Lotsa late night revelry, live bands and DJs. Hellooooo again friend. This track is for ma boy Nate Dogg who passed away last night at 41 to a stroke. REGULATE! After-hour athletes are babes. I had a couple pose with me for fun. For more info about the campaign in Canada or the world see the press release here. This is Sean the producer telling me I am AWESOME. Thanks for the gig. Love you. And remember, some marathons end At 6am. One more thing, could you please take one second to vote for Shawn Hawaii in the BMW contest? No email, no signup just vote. It will mean the world to him.  I’d do it for you! VOTE here NOW. P.S

it’s more fun to see you smile

Welcome to a brand new day. What’s new? everything. Exciting times ahead in the world, in my world and probably yours too if you think about it. I’m getting a new tattoo tonight. I’m going to fashion week everyday for the rest of the week. It’s a short week! Testing out two new-ish social media tools for blog & work  SocialTalk and Keen Kong; one if for publishing and the other for engagement & listening. This stuff makes me happy. I could barely sleep last night. I’ve got heaps to do but I figure as long as I keep working hard everyday it will all get done. I always wanted to grow up and be the girl who works at MuchMusic and even works on evenings and weekends because she has an agent and her own business and cool friends who are smart and do the same kinda things and lives cool condo downtown Toronto by the water. This is my life and it’s got it’s ups and downs but I choose to make it as exciting as I possibly can. I hope you do too. Damn rainy AGAIN today so I wore bright garden legs!  Kick kick that gloom right outta’ sight. Have a wonderful day and thank you for reading my blog. I love you.

it’s like holding the internet right in your hands

I think getting a ipad would only fuel my internet addiction. I would become more obsessed with blogging, tweeting and uploading content…well, except there’s no multitasking, flash or camera…so maybe not. I’m a PC. itampon was trending on Twitter today, seems ladies ain’t happy with the name of Apples new little baby haha. P.S. APPLE if you are listening to me and the internet, give me a tablet to test out. I’m cooler than ijustine and way less annoying. Thanks. Love you.
