Summer 2012: These Are A Few of My Favourite Things

As I was looking at photos I remembering heaps of cool things I did over the past few months. I am so thankful for the Internet, Twitter, Instagram etc. cause I could forgotten moments if I wasn’t constantly documenting. I started blogging in 2005 as a way to ‘keep more memories’, seven years later it’s the best thing I could have done. It works as a constant reminder to be grateful & show gratitude for all the wonderful people & experiences in my life. These are some of my favourite things I’ve done in the last few hot months. Summer Highlights 2012: Muskoka Weekends & Boating. Montreal weekend. Skydiving in Boston. Harley Riding. Outdoor Rock climbing w/ Ford & Bloggers. Beerfest w/ Carly & Lauren. Partying w/ the girls. Filming w/ Coral TV & growing the channel to over 1,000 subscribers & 125,000+ views! Hanging out w/ Mum. Driving on the Ford Track in Michigan w/ media from around the world. Oh and this guy 😉 Speaking at NXNE. NXNE Parties MMVA Show, Gifting lounges, & parties Banff World Media Festival, first time out West! Birthday falling on the same day at Hawaii’s company launch Being a Production Assistant on a short film in Orangeville. Hitting the beaches in Miami & Ft. Lauderdale, Florida Doing the Edgewalk of the Cn Tower w/ Dad Working w/ O’Nizz & Raymi for Menkes, video is 20,000+ views now! The next few weeks are super busy. I’m realxing this weekend in preparation for FNO, Fashion Cares, ten days of TIFF and end of September activities. Here we go!

Bot & Sold on Twitter (RE: Article from @FastCompany)

A couple of times over the last few years a photo of me has been used as a Twitter bot. I didn’t think much of it. I figured there was nothing I can do other than report for spam. To be honest, my first thought was “you’ve made it” then it happened over a handful of times and it was kinda unsettling. Have I been targeted? What is going on here and why does this keep happening? Yesterday, Keri sent me this article from FastCompany “Who’s That Woman In The Twitter Bot Profile? by Jason Feifer. I got a couple Tweets about it too. @casiestewart remember how there was a twitter bot of your Sunshine girl pic? Seems like you weren’t the only one! bit.ly/P2cemr — Breanna Hughes (@unbrelievable) August 9, 2012 They’re sometimes called “bimbots”–the army of Twitter bots with pretty profile pictures. Who are the women pictured in those photos? This is the story of the quest to find out.” Omg, it’s a thing. I read on… “After dozens of searches, a pattern emerged: Most bot photos had a long digital tail, having been posted on dozens of sketchy porn sites or blogs devoted to the barely legal. Occasionally, I’d be able to track a photo back to what seemed like an original source–like when a bot’s photo showed up alongside many others of the same woman, all posted to the fratboy site Barstool Sports. The site claimed her name is Aurora. But when I reached out, as was always the case, nobody cared to explain where the photos came from. …I tracked two bots back to the 2009 SUNshine Girls calendar, a lingerie showcase produced by the Toronto Sun. Everyone talks about the weather, but no one does anything about it.

It’s hard to deny the fact that we might be facing snow today. Actually, it IS fact and there is nothing I can do about it. Title is a quote by Mark Twain which I’m sure you knew already. When ever someone complains about the weather, this quote runs through my head until I can’t hear them anymore. There’s no point in complaining! I reckon it’s my last chance to don my favourite winter wear and go to bed early (aka hibernate). The sky looks grey and gloomy. I’m brewing up a sage tea to gargle with for the sore throat I woke up with. I managed to avoid getting sick all winter but alas, I am a mere mortal and it got me. Here’s Mum’s sage tea remedy for sore throat and thyme bath for colds. THIS IS WHAT I’M TALKING ABOUT! Found these old photos of Mum & Dad. Where exactly is this one with the CN tower. I think it’s right near my place? Turned my living room into a DIY studio and made a few accessories. My BFF Keri Blog came back to town yesterday. I’M SO GLAD SHE’S BACK. We watched the show Rogers did on me last month. I can’t wait to show you once I get it online. I’m at FITC (Future. Innovation. Technology. Creativity.) this week from Mon-Wed. The conference features over 70 renowned digital creators from around the globe sharing knowledge of the best and brightest in the digital space. BIG SCREEN

Yesterday I met Canadian digital artist & painter Antoine Gaber who is working on a documentary film to debut at Festivals called “It’s All About Me”. (Mum is surely gonna have a chuckle when she reads this. Yes Mum, he wants ME to be in it!) I watched the demo trailer (for investors) and the film is all about GenY, narcissism and all the technology we have at our fingertips. Most the characters and content are being filmed in LA (Hollywood) and I’m shooting later this month in Toronto. I sat in the directors chair, I liked it. On my way home I noticed the TTC has pinched Dear Photograph idea, no? It was sunny and bloody windy as hell! Finished up the day with a steaming hot yoga class at Mind & Body Yoga.

Some things and thoughts…

There was a really beautiful sky last night. I love the view from our place. Living near the water is something I adore. I prefer the ocean but the lake is good too. Was recently sent a couple gift cards for Tim Horton’s so I could try out the new lattes. They were super nice to send a few extra so (I did a secret contest and) surprised a couple people with a gift. Tried the vanilla latte and it was ok. I reckon I prefer Tim’s regular coffee. So many memories as soon as I take a sip. Have you tried the Tim’s latte, what did you think? Going to Tim’s with Dad as a kid was one of my fav things to do on the weekends. He would always read the Toronto Sun. I remember we’d always check out the Sunshine Girl which is why I think I wanted to be one. Crazy that was over ten years ago. I think I look younger/better now. Gimme a donut meowwww! Boston creme is my fav treat from Tim Hortons. Next week I’m heading to Boston for a visit with friends. When I arrive we’re going straight to the museum then a Rocky Horror show at night. Preeeeeeeety stoked. Saw this painting at a meeting today. Liked it. Moooooooo. Went to Earl’s last night with Stephen. The Financial District is such an interesting place. Everyone looks the same, sea of suits. I wore the JC Night Walk shoes, harem pants from Raymi and that lovely denim jacket from Bicyclette, with Dior lipstick. These shoes spark conversation everywhere they go. Honestly, they are really comfortable and easy to walk in. Rarrrrr! Calculator phone usually gets a few commets too. It would be really cool if it solar charged or was a working calculator. It says…

Giddy-up jingle horse, pick up your feet!

Hola & good morning from Capricci Latino on 5th Ave. I’m here having breakfast & wifi. Ok this gif is from Starbucks but their internet crapped out so I had to move on. Before I sit down for a meal when travelling, coffee or snack I ask if they have wifi. Pretty much everywhere does. I’m addicted to documenting, sharing and being connected so when I have the chance, I sieze it. There’s plenty of time to disconnect and soak up the sunshine.
