my two mums

When I was growing up Mum had a best friend named Pat Hope. They’re still best friends. They lived around the corner from us. Pat only had one son but no daughters. To us, she was like a fairy god mother. She was our second mum. She would pick up girly things on her travels like jewelry and dresses. She always had sweet treats with her. She had a room full of bunny things. She dressed beautifully and had great style. Her house was always beautiful and decorated better than any other…for every occasion. She would host elegant dinner parties with a long list of guests. Snacks on every table.  She rules, my second mum. They came to visit Jenie and I after work. Was excited to show Mum new comp and helmet. She was really happy. Had some wine and chatted while the Y&R was on. Found out today that it was Dad that got Mum into watching it before I was born. Dad picked my name from the show. Casey was Nikki Newman’s sister, a hot doctor. It’s great having them over for a visit. Thanks for making the trip guys. Love you!

it’s not that bad and my head feels safe

I’m finishing a poutine at Jack Astors. It was really good, like from a cafeteria, just how I like it. I turned Bjork on the YouTube. “Its all so quiet, it’s all so still, we’re all alone and so peaceful until”….Kylie Minogue comes on. I believe in you. Reminds me of my darling gay roommate from Finland dancing in our Aussie kitchen in his tighty whitey’s.  His name was Juuso, you say it like ‘you-so.’  ‘You so crazy’ we used to say. I love him still. I always picture him and his blonde-hair-blue-eyes-slim-figure in a sailor suit. Smiling. This keyboard is kinda small but it’s how I prefer it for my little hands. I have to get used to it that’s all. I have little hands. I have tiny feet too, like a 5 or 6. I like being able to have a little unit where I can catalog my thoughts. Having a blog is really fun. I read it. I laugh with my friends. I’ve done much of it not telling or showing my friends too much. Most have no idea about the youtube or vimeo. I like when they finally see I’ve let the crazy cat outta the bag, in a good way that is. Showed Luis a bunch of videos last night, he likes the Casie Stewart Show.

i find that haaaaaaaad to BAH-leeeve

hee we gow I’m between the clouds. I’m 34,000 feet  tall. Floating, flying, soaring. The sun is setting in the sky. Sitting right here, the power went off before we left and my heart dropped as I fought my own panic button. The lights didn’t even turn on. Why is there no wi-fi on this thing? I’m 130 miles from Washington, that’s twenty minutes.  I’m much further than that from home. I might be even further than that if I don’t make this connecting flight. I’ll have to spend the night in Washington in hotel all by myself and miss a day of work.  I missed my flight last time and I’m sure my boss would think I planned it. I watched some really cool documentary snippets. * Looked it up It was This American Life, Season Two, Episode 3 about Going Down in History. The kids in school talked about their lives and things then sat there to take one cheezy photo for the yearbook. That photo, the same pose they do every year represented nothing about what their life was really like at that very moment.  I liked it. It was one of those shows that was fast and creative and stays on your mind even when it’s over. One part was about two guys who escaped from an institution using rope they made from dental floss. Very creative. I was scheduled for the middle seat but I got the aisle. I’ve been wondering if the two beside me know each other or it was just in my cards to be lucky.  I can’t tell. The gate for my connecting flight is different than the one on my ticket .  Now, because of that, the girl said ‘you’re really close’ and looked at me happily.  I’m going to…

i’ve got a crush on boston

I almost missed my flight this morning as I woke up late to my driver knocking at my door after waiting for over half an hour. Had to pay for that. I arrived to Pearson International at 5am for a 6 am flight and wisked my way through customs to barely make it. Switched in Washington and barely made that too. I toured around downtown Boston with my friend. Beautiful city. I love it here. The history and old buildings amazes me and I’ve been soaking it up all day. Beautiful day it was too.   I rode around on the Boston Duck tour (kinda like the Hippo Tour we have in TO) and got to go on the Charles River. I also got to drive the Duck Truck/Boat. I also made BFF’s with a 4 year old who got to drive it too. We got stickers.  I’ve got a heap of photos to add but i’ll get to that later. Just had a dip in the pool and a beer at the house. Heading downton for dinner. It’s been a really great day.

mama’s getting a new boyfriend

I’ve been through some tough times with my comp-units over the past year.  Lost, stolen, broken, wine spilled on. Yes, tragic. You may remember one of my favorite tales Me, The Men, The Machines. The time has come for me to purchase a new laptop. I want a mini guy that is PC and not MAC.  Please don’t try and convince me to switch, I’m just not that into it. I’m looking for durability and value. I’m really hard on stuff and I don’t want to spend too much because I might break/lose it and I’m likely going to replace it in a year or two anyways. If you know someone who might wanna hook a sista up with a good deal, don’t hold back AT ALL.  They will get huge perks from me like mad links and BFF status. I’m gonna be taking my new unit everywhere I go and using it for everything I do.  That’s huge value right there.

cover me in rainbows and let me dance all night

Every year when the party is over I think, that was the best Pride ever. Then, when the next year rolls around it seems to be ever more fun than the last. Definitely the case again this year.   On Saturday we went out the Northbound party in the then hit up Subspace. I had quite the outfit that night! There’s something so awesome about wearing latex. Didn’t make it to the Parade on Sunday, watched it from homer instead. The live coverageon CP24 was totally humiliating. Matt Babel and the other girl were not funny at all and they kept saying the gayest things. I don’t mean gay as in gay pride, I mean ‘dude, that was so not funny’ kinda gay. There is a big difference. We danced the night away at Fusion to the dirty beats of Mr. Matt C. It’s been a while since I heard tunes that really moved me like that. It was awesome. There were a heap of really cool peeps there. Had a blast hanging out with them all including this dude…. and this babe… The thing about Pride weekend is that every one is so happy and open and free. The people are nice. There’s not attitude, well, except from the diva’s but that’s not frowned upon. I saw a hottie doing something I’d never seen before…fork as a cig holder. Um, yeah! FYI, pobably works a-ok as a roach clip too if youre in a jam. Overall, awesome weekend. Hopefully my voice comes back  but until then, I’m reminded of just how awesome Toronto is as a city and I know we throw the best Pride. The rain also held up pretty good despite the forecast, told you my theory was true. I found this dude to be super creepy. Before…

i am made of light i am made of stars

A couple years ago Mum gave me the a book called “The Four Agreements” by Don Migue l Ruiz. It makes me feel less anxiety when I carry it around. It’s one of those you keep in your purse and when someone says something or does something to make you feel not as awesome as you should, I reach for it and read it over a couple times. I refuse to lend it out because I’d hate to not get it back. That always happens with book lending. The Four Agreements are great when you want to be inspired or motivated to keep a positive attitude. My favorite line is in the beginning and it’s the title of this post. The Four Agreements Be Impeccable With Your Word Don’t Take Anything Personally Don’t Make Assumptions Always Do Your Best

wow, you’re all so good looking

The other day I had a lovely evening with some of TO’s best bloggers.  I’m quite happy to be included in the best and would have been really pissed if I wasn’t.  Seriously.  It was really awesome to meet the other blog kids, most of whom I only know from le internet.  I was surprised to really see how different we all are. Each person brings to the mix a different perspective on life and a different creative process of putting it online through their blog. This is a pic of a few of them, you can see more of the Toronto local bloggers on Flickr. From left to right I have Vanessa from Vaneska.com, Ted Healy from Dead Robot, Sean Ward, Lisa Charleyboy from UrbanNativeGirlStuff, Raymi The Minx, and of course yours truly. We had Julian Brass of Notable TV there documenting the evening as we build Toronto’s first Top bloggers network. There is so much opportunity for advertisers to reach Toronto’s people through our blogs that get read by thousands of cool TO people and HEAPS of others around the world. If you want to chat about opportunities don’t hesitate to leave comment or contact me.  I’m stoked about where this is heading!! My dream of being a full time blogger WILL come true! Andrew Lewis has some good pix of us all.  Nice one of me here.

i’m on the hunt, hunting for you

Remember this video of me walking in the rain to the elegant sounds of Lhasa de Sela singing J’arrive A la Ville? I’m wearing me red Wellies, one of my favorite pairs of shoes. Well, I came back from Florida and they were GONE from my ROOM. walking in the rain from me on Vimeo. Now, I may have misplaced them, it happens, however I can not remember taking them off somewhere and leaving sans shoes. Hmmm?  I really miss them.  It’s been raining for 2 days and I’m forced to wear non-rain-shoes.  I’ve checked my room and condo and it’s pretty hard to hide a pair of big red boots.  I hope they turn up, I’ve had them for years now and I really really want them back. Dear Universe, please find my favorite boots and bring them back to me. Thanks, ♥ Love Casie

when amanda came home she inspired me

It had been over a year since I got back and Amanda had just returned from her year in Perth. She learned something while away that inspired her and she wrote it on this little piece of papaer that I keep sticking around as I move from place to place. It says: “The moment of reckless abandon where you lean back and laugh at the simplicity & absurdity of everything…the moment when you so fully realize it doesn’t get and better than right now” Isn’t she just the cutest thing. I like the way I feel when I read it, as if each breath and moment is to be savored and cherished before it’s gone and you move to the next. I took this video this morning on my way in. So happy I don’t have to battle any traffic. morning traffic in toronto filmed by me on Vimeo.
