stopped having a bad day & started being awesome

I love Twitter for so many reason but one of them is this…FRIENDS! Friends that are always there to cheer you up because sometimes a little thing happens to steer you in the wrong direction. Today I kinda got off to a bad start and naturally, I tweeted… then before you know it my friends popped out of the internet, took action and typed me some sunshine. You can’t get that type of widespread instant happiness anywhere else. I tried to take a pic of my outfit but it’s impossible with a phone camera. I really miss having my camera. Don’t you miss my outfit shots? Well, I do and that’s really what matters here. I’ll get a new one soon. Maybe this week. Anyone have a hookup with Canon/Kodak/Camera Store? I’ll love you forever just like I love Telus for hookin’ a sista up with the most amazing phone, Motorola Milestone. Lots of meetings today which means time is very valuable! I’m tired and I have things to get done and emails to retun but I can’t sleep. I need a break but the thing is, I internet all the time and the internet doesn’t take breaks. It doesn’t stop or sleep. I can’t do that. I need to take breaks, I am not a computer. I need to get my rest. I’m not being complainey, I’m being real. And I’m real tired. I’m gonna try to stay home this weekend and relax, it’s only Tuesday. CRIPES! Ah well, tomorrow morning I will wake up reborn and ready for a new day. Looking forward to the Tuesday meeting to hear what everyone says about the shows we premiered last night. One day robotic beings might rule the world. The binary solo at thge end of this I love. This is me today. Grey hair, glasses, Dr. Martens, tan, smile. I just went to Mc Donalds for lunch. It was tasty as usual, I know it’s bad for me but I like it and i’ve been eating the stuff my whole life and it’s still not “caught up to me”. Life is short, do what makes you happy, eh! The stage is getting set up at work for the MMVA show June 20th. I’m pretty stoked that I’m the Twitter person, it’s the most fun job I reckon. Karrera is coming over tonight. She moved out West in Jan and we’ve been friends since we were kids so it’s pretty exciting. Today when I logged into Tumblr I was like WTF, YOU ARE BLACK NOW? Not that there’s anything wrong with it, I would have said the same thing is it was any colour. The reason Tumblr is black is they are requesting & matching donations for Safe Our Gulf. Spent the night at work tweetin’ away as @mtvcanada and watching the MTV movie Awards. Feelin’ lucky that this is my job, I would be tweeting the show from my personal account given this wasn’t my gig so it’s pretty awesome. Was NOT impressed with Xtina’s weak performance, Katy Perry was good. I love her so much man, she’s so hot. Tom Cruise was hilar with J.Lo. There was a bunch of swearing which was a shocker but funny. I’m taking Friday afternoon of this week and coming in late tomorrow morning. I’m gonna get a bit of work done tonight for Carly (my agent) before I hit the hay. Ok nighty night. Feelin’ pretty tired. Looking forward to sleeping in! xo

railroad, all the live long day

Woke up and cruised down to the urban umbrella beach to sit in the sun. Been working on stuff/tweeting all afternoon. I’m sending this via mobile cause for some lame reason WordPress is being a jackass and not performing according to my needs. Bitch better pick it up or else I’m moving platforms. Downloading the new version now and I hope that fixes it. Aside from that, day has been great. Lots of exciting things happening. Katy Perry’s new vid has been leaked, you seen it? shopping is more fun with a drink in your hand

Yesterday’s mini dress is one of my favorite purchases from Apt. 909. I’ve had it for a couple years and it was in the kiddie section! I matched with my very loved vintage cowboys I picked up at a little shop in Bondi, Australia. After work I attended the Notable TV RW & Co excluuuuuuseive opening party at the Eaton Centre. I rolled up with Carly, (Fairlie Agency) & Reggie (GotStyle Menswear). Carly and I both have fresh shaved heads, such a great feeling and perfect for this hot hot heat. Thanks to Darren for mine! You know this handsome face – blogger & comic man Sean Ward. I always make it out to Notable TV events to support Julian and see/meet cool peeps. The party was catered by my MOST favorite Toronto catering company, The Food Dudes. They honestly make the best food out of any party I’ve been to (and that’s A LOT of parties!). I finally met Dejana Bajic (aka Shopsterium), we follow each other on the Twitter. She stopped me right away to snap a pic and introduce herself. She got some good ones of the event you can check out on her bloggy. Enjoy the day, she’s a bloody hot one out there! 🙂

Toni Collette is beautiful and a totally wicked actress. The site has profiles all the characters she plays, I haven’t met them all yet, but I’m gonna. United States of Tara, good show. Part of why I love this show is John Corbett, I have been in love with him for many years. He melts my heart. I once dated someone he reminds me of. So handsome, both of them, heart melt sandwich. the trouble with jogging is that ice falls out of your glass

Been sleeping like a log since I got my new bed last weekend. It’s amazing what a difference it makes! Looking forward to the weekend, she’s a long one and I’ve got nothing planned. Might head East to the beaches to see Jenie for some sun lazing. I want to do nothing, I want to have no plans and just take each day as it comes. I’m definitely gonna pop down to the urban beach (big sand box by the lake) with my sketchbook. I’d like to sew a new bikini too. Need something really jazzy for Florida next week! Check out my mustache necklace (posted last night on tumblr) that my penpal Hillzy sent me for bday. I love her and gawd I’ve never even met her yet!! Rockin’ Mum’s old hot rod tshirt. This one if from 1981, BEFORE I WAS BORN. I love wearing her old stuff. I’m so happy she kept so much of it. One of the reason i refuse to get rid of all my stuff is I KNOW that one day I’ll have a house big enough to manage my closet. Until then, it’s a bit of a tight squeeze! there is no right and wrong. there’s only fun and boring.

I usually leave the house around the time the bank opens downstairs. No matter how I felt waking up, getting ready, taking photos or leaving the house, I leave the block feeling happy after I see them. Big smiles, happy to say hello and wave sending good vibes. I hardly go into the bank, when I loose my card several times a year. I actually go into the bank to do things I could do myself just for the fun conversation. i hope you don’t screw like you type.

This was meant to go up yesterday but my site was hacked! I had a mini heart attack but then my friend played doctor to my blog baby and now she’s out of emergency and recovering well. Thank jesus! Lovely walk to work this morning. Played in the park for a min. Got a coffee. Wore suede boots even though its raining, its so slight not enough for wellies. Getting really excited for Florida in two weeks. Came home last night and kinda wished I had a BF, that thought was gone when I woke up. Gonna do some zoeyng tonight. Have a shirt to make and a vest. Mum gave me heaps of pattern books from the early eighty’s and all that stuff is in style right now. Just ran into Daniel. He said ‘hi Magical’ I know he means it. That little minute meeting gave me a dose of inspiration and hazaaaa that resembles wheat grass. Pleasure seeing friends that are doing well and doing what they love at the same time. i was so inspired in fact that I kept typing and walked right past Timmy Ho’s. Good thing there’s at least three on my way. Blind Melon ‘No Rain’ is playing as I walk by Jack Astors on John Street. There is inspiration everywhere. There is inspiration everywhere! I love this song.

so, you wanna get a job in social media? (or any job)

This has come up in conversations a couple times over the last few weeks. There are lots of jobs out there and with the openness of the internet, you can find them and they can find you. You know I’m really big on attitude and positivity. As a former recruiter, I give you a couple things to think about. Now, to me, this stuff seems common sense but I’ve seen otherwise. You have to think like an employer. If they complete a background check or Google you what are they going to learn? What will they find on your blog, twitter, FB and what type of feeling are they gonna get from you? How are they going to perceive your attitude as a potential employee? Here’s a couple things NOT to do: tweet/blog about how hard of a time you are having finding a job tweet how hard up you are for money Complain on your blog about how life is hard/how busy you are doing nothing Whine about not hearing back from an interview Complain about not having a job BE NEGATIVE (downer) Here’s a couple things TO do: Follow positive people who have jobs you’d like to have; learn from them, you could potentially learn alot, such as gaining help with cover letters targetted for your specific job role you’d like, and more. Blog about things related to jobs you’d like to have Blog/tweet about things you’ve done that would be assets to a company Think about how good it will feel to have a new job Read articles and comment about them follow hashtags about jobs/hiring/your field attend tweetups & meetups in your area BE POSITIVE There ARE dream jobs out there I promise! its not always rainbows and butterflies

I wrote this the other day while on a walk… Its rare that I have nothing to say but sometimes, it happens. I go into mute mode. You’d be surprised at my introvertedness when I’m home. After a long day or week of publishing a constant stream of content, I so often just want to hit mute and shut it all off. Its not easy putting yourself out there all the time. I stay in my room or can go days, hardly saying a word at all. Working hard and staying positive are really important to me. So often I hear “I’d like to blog/tweet but I don’t have time” or “where do you find the time”. Urgh, make the time! I work hard and stay positive do it because I love what I’m doing and I want to succeed. Don’t you? I choose to publish moastly rainbows, unicorns and happy stuff, however, it still rains now and then. I’ve started unfollowing people on twitter lately that have a negative tome to their tweets. If I hear ‘whining’ or ‘wah-wah’ when I read it, I’m shutting it off. I don’t wanna catch your downer-fever. I really believe in the power of positive thought. If you act positive and think positive, positive things will happen. So many times the universe has shown me this is true. So, if you’ve been feeling downer lately, throw it out the damn window and start smiling. You’ll feel better as soon as you do 🙂

I was really busy today with work and didn’t have time to bloggy blog until now! I usually develop a mild anxiety if I don’t update. Oh man, you should see me if whole day goes by without internet or blogging, I start scratching and pacing like a total crack head nut job. I wore these shoes today, wanted to give them another go. Last time I wore them my feet were torn to shreds and hurting for at least a week. Shoes, I have a message for you “you’re cute but it’s OVER, it’s not you, it’s me, you hurt ME. I wanna be with you, inside you but the pain is unbearable.” Wore this shirt today, one of my fav’s I ordered from Threadless. On my way back from meeting Abby to talk Degrassi I got stopped by L’oreal. Really good pickup line “you have amazing style, can we take your picture”. Obvs I was like “yeah”. Turns out one of the photog’s does work for MuchMTV and I uploaded a bunch of his Juno photos last week. Small world, totes. Good thing I brought flip flops to walk home in the rain. RAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRR!

I’ve never actually seen Star Wars. I dated this boy way back who despite being in his mid twenties, still has a Star Wars bed spread and sheets. Lightsaber anyone? Haha If you didn’t notice on FB or Twitter or the Gregorian calendar, today is May the Forth. Get it? No, urgh, May the Fourth be with You! Its super nice out again today. I miss my camera. Morning photoshoots had become part of my regular routine. I can’t take full shots of my outfits anymore. Really digging the rooster alarm BTW. I think its funny. I try to do little things here and there to make my day better. Tuesday is my busiest day of the week now that The Hills is back on. my world 2.0

The sound of a rooster woke me up, and, just as I planned, I started laughing. I fell asleep thinking positive thoughts of “welcome summer” and “I want a porsche“. Got up about an hour earlier than usual to kick off the week before my birthday on Saturday, I’m gonna be 28. Its a beautiful day, the ground is wet, the air is warm. Might rain but for now, the sun is shining bright. Pulled out the AA thigh highs, threw on my wellies and shorts and made it out the door just after 8am. Sun shining in my face… Pretty walk through the park. Ready for puddle jumping. Having lunch with the lovely Lucia and I’ve also booked the whole night to myself. Started cleaning room last night, finally. Brought a banana for brekky today. It’s time to start planning for Florida trip, as in not eating crap! I need that toned up beach body in place, maybe I’ll even get a couple workouts (won’t hold my breath on that one!). Its absolutely lovely outside today. I wrote this as I walked to work using WordPress mobile & added the pix from my phone when I got into the office. Hope your day starts off great like mine did. Sisters. Cousins from NZ. Blurry vision. It was super sunny. Good thing I wore a bikini under. Then is was cloundy but there was no rain. Horse walked in to a park. Twitter-twatter. The whole day was super fun. We’ve been hitting up the festival for the past five years and this year was by far the most busy. There were heaps of people, food trucks and clouds of smoke. Happy smoking! haha Time to get outside and enjoy this beautiful day!

i feel like a celebrity in this room with you

Woke up and had as couple great phone chats with friends. Fun night out with the work mates last night. I seriously love my work. I love what i’m doing and the people. Tomorrow May 2, marks 6 months working with MuchMTV. I was in my old job for two years and knew it wasn’t where I wanted to be. I needed to be doing somehting I loved. I loved twitter and blogging and publishing and internet and I knew I could find a job where I could show that love in a big way. I found it. There are so many new jobs popping up all the time, we’re a lucky generation to be able to say “Hey I want __________ and I’m gonna get it.” One of the video’s I did for My City Lives last week talks about GenyTO and the group of like minded individuals behind the idea that started it in Jan 2009. I’m so inspired by the friends I’ve made over the last couple years. You can watch the vid’yo here, having trouble embedding it for some reason. I got a new phone today from Motorola called the Backflip. This thing lets you stream emails and social networks into one feed and it backs all your stuff up. I’m testing it out this weekend to see if I like it better than the Milestone, that phone is gonna be hard to beat. I’m really liking Android in general. Think I might need to buy myself one of the custom phone cases to look after it though! Stay tuned for my thoughts on it. Twitter released it’s official app for Android today. Downloaded it. So far its ok. The homepage is portrait vs landscape which bugs me and it seems you can only have one account. I’ve been using the Seesmic app to publish and monitor about five accounts for work etc. The RT function doesn’t let you edit tweets first which is pretty annoying. Gonna give it a fair go this weekend along with the new phone. It’s been a really good day. Checked a few things off my list that I’ve been meaning to get done. Feeling super positive and looking forward to the weekend. Think it’s gonna rain tomorrow but I don’t mind, it’s been a busy week. Might clean my room if it’s rainy. Need to catch up on emails (sorry if you’re one of the people I’ve not emailed back yet). Gonna head over to Raymi‘s place for her roomie’s bday party tomorrow night.
