it’s the little things that matter most

Thank You Sprouter! from my heart I met Sarah Prevette and Erin Bury early this year when I volunteered to be on the team for Twestival. At the time they were Redwire and the power behind the greatness that was hosting the event. Being part of the team and getting to know them was an awesome experience. We have since worked on a bunch of things together and I try to help out where I can. The office admin girl came over and said ‘you’re so lucky’ as she dropped a beautiful green money tree at my desk. Interestingly enough, I mentioned earlier that karma goes around and shows up when you least expect it. I feel so lucky today. Thank you. Looking forward to Twestival Local on September 12th, mark your calendars!

and the photos took themselves on a journey

I’m really busy today. Meeting at lunch, meeting after work and I’m late to make a call right now. As I was riding the train last night there was no internet.I have made a time lapse video. I will add music this evening and you will see the train ride. I wrote  this little rhyme in 2004, Mullet Man. That’s me at Niagara Falls about 20 years ago. The guy across the street from Mum’s house had a mad dirty 1988 mullet and he was fixing his van. I was inspired by him.  I knew he could do it. Mullet man, Mullet Man Out side the window, Green van, blue van, Mullet man plays out in the garage. I look out there Lights on, nothing wrong Feeling strong fixin’ that van. Mullet man, You can, you can Fix that van to run again. Mullet man,you can, you can, Run that van, you are the man.

i am doll eyes, doll parts

I came across two things in the last 24 hours that go with doll parts and wanting to be the girl with the most cake. Hole also may be getting back together. That could be good or it could be really bad for Courtney. 1) Barbie Doll parts jewelery. Kinda creepy? No. I’d love Barbie boobies and I like the hands necklace. It’s  a one-of-a-kind necklace with eighteen barbie doll hands chopped with silver end caps. The collection is made by Margaux Lange and she has a pile of Barbie parts stuff on her Etsy store.  I like this beauty smile ring too. 2) Last night I had a Mojhito cupcake with white rum, lime, mint & cane sugar.  Cocktails by Gateau was at my place last night for a Canada Day bbq. They can come over with the cupcake cart anytime.  She won my heart playing MJ.

there’s a new club that opens today

It’s name is Sobey’s. It’s open 24 hours and it’s surrounded by condos of Yuppies that like to party. I’ve got a great view of the place and I’m looking forward to sharing stories of what happens at the club. I expect that it will be a busy place for people under the influence beween 1-3am on the weekends. You an follow Club Sobey on Twitter. Next week I’m one of the first people to ‘Feel the Vibe’ from Mabelline with their new Pulse Perfection Mascara. This thing VIBRATES! I have a link here where you can pre-order it if  you are dying to have an eyegasm. They told me it actually pulses the brush 100 times a second like no hand can. Sounds pretty sexual to me …. When it arrives I will make a video of my first try and hopefully I’ll love it . I might get a couple so if you’re really keen to try it let me know and maybe I’ll send you a unit.

when amanda came home she inspired me

It had been over a year since I got back and Amanda had just returned from her year in Perth. She learned something while away that inspired her and she wrote it on this little piece of papaer that I keep sticking around as I move from place to place. It says: “The moment of reckless abandon where you lean back and laugh at the simplicity & absurdity of everything…the moment when you so fully realize it doesn’t get and better than right now” Isn’t she just the cutest thing. I like the way I feel when I read it, as if each breath and moment is to be savored and cherished before it’s gone and you move to the next. I took this video this morning on my way in. So happy I don’t have to battle any traffic. morning traffic in toronto filmed by me on Vimeo.

shining right down on me

I biked  the boardwalk trail this morning beside the Lake. So brilliant the sun was shining down on me. The temperature as I left the house was already over 14 degrees and the clouds cleared shortly after 8am. This is my favorite mug. I’ve had it since I was little kid. It’s Care Bears and says “Make the most of every good thing”, I think that’s a pretty good philosophy. I loved Care Bears, used to watch at 8am before school. I woke up extra early, about 6:30. Something about summer mornings  makes me jump out of bed fleeing alive and ready to take on the day. Love this picture.  I often look out and see whats happening with this massive boat, its usually nothing, but it doesn’t mind me staring. Very busy today. Catering brought Penne a la vodka w/ chicken and it’s so yummy. Eating at desk and then going for coffee to draw cartoons of this guy and this girl.

really fun but my legs kinda hurt today

Happy I didn’t drink much last night so I can fully remember all the greatness that was #spinTO. There were so many awesome people there that above and beyond the flashing lights, bare skin and dancing the crowd was larger than life.  I spent most the night outside racing in racing suit and cheering on all the other peeps that gave ‘er a go. I raced 2x and in this video I’m Racing Kevin Joseph and he beat me. #spinTO Bike Race from Casie Stewart on Vimeo. He was fast. It’s hard to race like a mother bitch for 500 metres. My legs can feel that I worked them and they’re probably going to make me pay for it tomorrow. The lady beside me was cheering me on so hard, she thought I was kicking his ass. I wasn’t but she was so encouraging, it made me feel like I did! This was my best time and last time. #spinTO rain suit dancing guy from Casie Stewart on Vimeo. I hope you have a great weekend!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Celebrate and drive safe please.

i like when the leaves come on the building

I was walking into the office this morning and it was really beautiful outside. Sabrina and I were giggling our little asses off as I proceeded to say “I like then the leaves come on the building”. Being our immature selves she replied with “I like when you come on the building”. I hope you can imagine just how funny this was. I almost peed my pants. No, I did not make an error I wore pants today. I’m heading to Spin TO tonight at the MOD Club on College. SpinTO is a fundraising project that kicks off today and celebrates the Friends for Life Bike Rally from Toronto to Montreal in support of the Toronto People with AIDS Foundation. The theme is Solid Gold and I think you should all come if you can.  Tickets are on sale for like the next two hours but you can also get ’em at the door. There’s lots of fun stuff happpening there tonight.

thanks for the gift bag

Last night I attended an exclusive event at Gaffa’s Fine Eyewear boutique on Queen Street. It was OK. Lots of people, style, music, wine and simple snacks. I was happy to be able to check it out. However, there was one problem, they promoted that there were these swanky gift bags for all attendees valued at $300. This obviously got peoples attention. The event was from 7-10.pm I went at 8:30, was told I was “too early for gift bag“by an employee. Annoying. So, I went back at 10pm and another girl said “oh we took the rest to Lobby”. Like WTF. There was no way I’d be chasing that much! These glasses were my favorite. UPDATE: I got an email from Mr. Gaffas and maybe I will buy my glasses there. It was very nice of him to reply to my email. I understand that it was a ‘gift’ but I was there two times. I went to the event based on a friends recomendation from a far away country. I know it’s a great shop with great glasses. I’ll let you all know how my store visit goes tomorrow.

an interview to inspire: Jesse & MS

I recently found out that my friend, Jesse Lee from high school was diagnosed with MS. I don’t know alot about MS and saw an opportunity to learn about the disease and share it with others. Jesse is a really cool guy (and funny) so when I found out about him and MS, I was really interested to learn more. Below is my interview with Jesse. Please read it. I assure you it will touch your heart and inspire you. You can donate too MS and help Jesse raise money for the cause here or by following the links below. Did you have symptoms, how did you know? The first two symptoms I encountered were numbness in my fingers and face and blurry vision in one eye. It was in the summer of 2007 while playing baseball. I have always been a good athlete and all of a sudden I was missing fly balls because of my blurry vision and the numbness caused my coordination to be off. I contacted my Doctor who originally gave me eye drops. Once the eye drops didn’t work I was sent for an MRI. When did you find out you had MS? After my first MRI came back and showed some lesions on the brain, a neurologist that I was referred to said there was a possibility that I had MS and sent me for more tests and a second MRI. The results of those tests confirmed I did in fact have MS and I was officially diagnosed in March of 2008. This was a very frustrating time because as you can see it took almost a year to diagnose and so much uncertainty was surrounding while other symptoms started to arrive and get worse. These other symptoms included; loss of balance, poor short…

clean up. let it go. breathe. exhale. refresh.live life.

The new year is upon us in a few short hours. I’ve been puttering around all day tidying up the place, doing laundry, setting dishwasher (t.g.f.dishwasher!), I’ve even invested in glass coffee tables with storage so that I can really declutter, and wiping old ugly thoughts and developing new ideas for 2009. I’m quite looking forward to this year ahead. I have heaps of really cool stuff planned for this blog and a bunch of amazing people helping my dreams come true. I don’t lie when I say ” Move over Martha, there is a new Stewart in town”. My name is Casie Stewart, I am proud of the unique person I am and I want to encourage others to create, share thoughts and ideas and inspire others to be individuals. One thing I hold close to my heart is knowing that thoughts become things, you are a product of your thoughts. You are who you think you are. If you think you are awesome, adorable and funny, then live that way, be that person and be your true self. After my year in Australia away from friends and family I learned who I am as a person and how to embrace that, foster it, and make something of it. I learned how to be myself. I encourage you to inspire and embrace those around you. This year, give thanks for being able to breath clean air, see the sunrise and sunset, to share a laugh with a trusted friend and ball your eyes out with your BFF. Be thankful for each day. My wish and challenge for you in 2009 Next time someone asks you ‘what’s new?” don’t say “nothing, same as usual”, say “everything is new, today is a new day”. Think to yourself, think about yourself, each…

Giving is the Best Gift EVER!!

Last night I volunteered at an event I have mentioned several times to benefit of the Hospice of Peel. Networking for a Cause was a great success! I was selling tickets and spreading good cheer and THAT was the most fun I could have had. After work I was feeling a bit down as I have a very close family member who has recently been in hospital and yesterday had to return for some tests which was very scary. I was not feeling like my energetic self. However, instead of staying home and feeling sad, down, or upset, I put on my winter gear and headed over to 244 Adelaide to help out with the event. This opened an HUGE opportunity for sharing and giving. I was instantly filled with joy to help others and raise money for families affected by terminal illness to enjoy a Christmas dinner or buy gifts for the children of the family. It is a true fact that giving is its own gift. I gave my time and in return, (without asking) I received so much joy that everything else wonderful about the night was a genuine blessing. I met some great people and look forward to building those relationships. Here’s to the holidays!! Give & life!! All the proceeds raised go directly towards the inaugural Give the Gift of Giving program. To learn more visit the Gift of Giving site here.

Give the Gift of Giving

My friend Andrew is doing amazing things this year! Daniel is 20 years old and really making a difference in our world. Check out his inspiring interview on Daytime. The most touching part I found in the interview is that he sent out messages to about 15 people and went off to school and work and later that day over 1,000 people had been invited to attend the Networking for a Cause event. As I have shown with my actions and will continue to, it only takes one voice to start a movement. Another reason to watch, Daniel has an adorable accent!! To RSVP to Networking for a Cause to benefit families in need and the Hospice of Peel go here. You will have the opportunity to speed network with other business people, entrepreneurs and professionals and support a great cause. Included in the $20 minimum donation is a drink ticket, hors d’oeuvres and the opportunity to network with other conscious and compassionate business people. All the proceeds will go towards the inaugural Give the Gift of Giving program which will use the donations to help families affected by terminal illness enjoy a Christmas dinner or buy gifts for the children of the family. Read the stories of hope for the families we are reaching out to! For more information visit the Give the Gift of Giving site ♥

i like stuff! i like stuff!

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOH YES! I got some goodies today. They arrived in a big white gift bag with my name on it: I opened the bag and much to my surprise was a beautiful 50ml Ange ou Demon eau de toilette, 200ml bath gel and for my special man a 50ml Pour Homme eau de toilette spray. How awesome! I love testing out new jazz and getting presents delivered too. Makes me very happy! Ange ou Demon smells very soft and light. Not flowery or vanilla, I hate those smells. Its light enough that I could wear it all the time. It is not as strong as Hot Couture that I received a few months ago. I liked it also, but I reckon it’s more evening wear. This one is quite delicate. I like it. ♥ Try it out for yourself while out holidayshopping and let me know your thoughts.
