Emily’s Ice Cream + Canon’s Blogtography Program

Last night I had dinner with the other 4 Canadian Canon Blogtography Ambassadors and some great people involved in the program from Edelman Toronto and Canon Canada. We arrived at The Drake Hotel not knowing what they had planned for us. Each of the Canon sessions we’ve attended over the past six months has had a different theme where we learned tips and tricks from professionals similar to what video production companies austin texas employ in their work to try with our cameras. Over the last six months I’ve really learned how to take photos. I mean, I’ve been using a camera as long as I can remember but snapping shots is different than knowing how to use a camera outside of the auto. I took that photo above. We were on the trolly in High Park this summer and Emily had just gotten this massive ice cream with sprinkles, it was hot and about to drip everywhere. I cropped it and used one of the filters in my Canon Rebel SL1 then sent it off to Canon as part of my 20 favorite photos. Last night they gave each of us one of our prints, blown up and in a frame. The image was printed using a Canon printer which, in true Oprah style, we each got one. (Imagine “You get a printer and you get a printer”, it was kinda like that.) We were all amazed by the high quality, shocked by the generosity, and extremely grateful. As you already know, Canon is very famous and has been loved by many people over the years. You can look for Canon printer cartridges compatibility online at stores such as Toner City so that you are never without cartridges to print off all your amazing pictures. After almost a decade…

Be Someone Who Makes You Happy

Tonight was a good one. Hair did, cooking, cleaning, packing, and a little Netflix. Exciting (secret project) planning after work tomorrow followed by an event on the roof at Thompson  with work + Molson. This is my life, I’m grateful, nervous, and excited.  It’s funny [something] having a public diary, I feel like I’m writing to myself, or often Mum. [Hi Mum, ring you at work today, love you!] LA, one more day away. 🙂 And earlier today… Ted Baker + Thomas Sabo. (CLICK TO SEE POSTS FROM BEFORE TODAY) xo CASIE

If You Want Someone To Do Work, Pay them!

Ok, it’s Social Media Week around the world and whether you are part of it or not, one thing you can’t deny is that social + media has become an integrated part of our lives. Raise your hand if you’re on Facebook? Bloggers are taking front row seats at fashion shows, writing for magazines, being written about in magazines, appearing on TV, travelling on sponsors dimes and snatching up newly created jobs in just about every industry. You can’t avoid the shift in how media is now delivered or consumed. Something happened today that inspired me… I was scolded by a PR person (from an agency that I really like whom I have been posting & making videos about their things FOR FREE for over a year) because I didn’t promote a contest on MY blog to MY Twitter, enough. Some, but not enough. The second part of the scolding was because I didn’t make it to opening night for their ticketed event AND the winner I picked for my contest cancelled. So, the tickets went to waste. I’m sorry, I was ditched on Valentines Day ok!  The thing is, if they had of made a little contract and sent me some money, I would have been there (regardless of what happened) and promoted it. I probably would have asked friends to take part so we could go together. I often get people wanting to me to post about an event, run a contest, share with my friends, and attend events. Do you know how long that takes? To and from event easy 2 hours, blog 1-5 hour, contesting, sharing online, writing copy, taking photos, coordinating winners. It takes hours to make and create content. If you paid me minimum wage I’d barely have enough to take myself out for…

Good Morning

Woke up and my room was filled with pink sky. It’s raining now and I’m safe at work hibernating inside the computer. SEE! (Inside computer talking to you right meow.) I thought it would be nice to say hello & good morning. Having a full time job doing something I love really makes my blog more exciting and enjoyable to write. I write to remember. It started out as a daily journal in 2005 so I could keep more memories of people, places, things, and thoughts. Now, coming up on eight years later I have documented my career starting fashion, working through jobs, tv shows, travel, hairstyles, and many outfits. I’m extremely grateful for the journey my blog and I have taken together and that you are along for the ride. Was thinking about that this weekend and I thought I should write it down. Enjoy the day. This is the only October 1oth, 2012 that WILL EVER BE. Make it memorable 🙂 <3 CASIE   Super pink sky filled my room this morning. twitter.com/casiestewart/s… — CASIE STEWART (@casiestewart) October 10, 2012

Life is Like a Blog of Chocolates

You never know what you’re gonna get. You start a blog, you write, you post, you share. If you are interested in blogging that’s a good place to start. And, if you’re prepared when opportunity presents itself, you’re lucky. I’ve grown so much over the past seven years writing this blog and I’m extremely grateful for all the awesome it’s brought into my life. This is my sister Jenny 😉 Mum rung me from the boat this morning and they’ve sailed into Canada after being away for about a month. I can’t wait to see her. She’s so inspiring. Living out a childhood dream today casting kids for a commercial. I always wanted to to this. TBH it’s not that glamorous! Getting kids on camera and judging them as they act out part of the scene. I was pretty nervous at first but after a few, it’s easy. Having gone to heaps of auditions is helpful. Got this last night 🙂 If you are around & about Queen West pop by the Great Hall & get a SummerWorks programme. GO TO SOMETHING! Most stuff is free and you will be glad you did. Get cultured! There’s a gallery across from Dog & Bear at Dovercourt where Nina Arsenault has a piece of performance art. It’s super interesting. She is a great writer. Jenie and I went by there on Friday. I’m gonna pass by again on my way home. I wrote about Nina’s Live Art piece on the SummerWorks blog here. Hope you’re having an awesome day!

Feeling extremely grateful and a little overwhelmed. Thank you for all the wishes. It’s gonna be a great day and year. Updated iOS on all my devices when I woke up and had a great sleep. Heading for a drive in the new car then breakfast and probably gonna take an extended afternoon nap. ENJOY THE DAY! May 8th is a special one 🙂

Dream Come True: On Stage with The National Ballet

At the age of three I started ballet. I danced at Meyerhofer Academy in Cambridge lead by Miss Lisa for ten years. I learned so many things from that woman. To this day Mum says I remind her of Miss Lisa. My first recital was at Humanities Theatre in Waterloo when I was five, I was a fluffy cloud in our annual recital. This photo & costume are from in my first Solo as “The Clown”. Mum made this entire costume out of a beautiful fabric and we still have it at home. After five I began competition which sometimes took me out of school to travel with the other kids. I went to NY and Myrtle Beach, SC to Showstopper, the National American Dance Championships and did heaps of competitions in Ontario. I was at the studio several days a week for most of my childhood. I guess that’s where my love for the stage & sequins comes from. (Thanks for that too Mum!) I’m extremely grateful that Mum kept me in dance even though we had some tough times. I learned heaps from growing up in dance. Tonight, I will be backstage, in costume and part of a show that as a child, I only dreamed of. The National Ballet of Canada’s The Nutcracker is Toronto’s favourite holiday tradition and this year the  Ballet celebrates 60 years. With over 340 performances and 814,635 people enjoying it since 1995, the National Ballet’s The Nutcracker has been hailed “the best on the planet”. Thank you kindly to the National Ballet of Canada for asking me to be part of The Nutcracker. Mum and her BF are coming from out of town to see tonight’s performance. It truly is a dream come true! Sammy and I will be Cannon Dolls and look a little something like this: Here’s a sneak peek from backstage…

Content Strategy Burger = Hungry for engagement.

HI, i’m on the internet and I should be outside at the beach. What are you doing? DO something. I just learned about Zarly – what you want, whenever, whatever. NARLY! Kyayyam just posted this and now I want to go to Burger King and Tweet or blog about it. I slept till noon for the first time in ages. It’s amazing how the internet sucks you in. I love learning. (instert nerd smiley) Finishing up this work, charging my phone and going to the beach. I really want to move. I’m going to. If you write things down and tell people you are more likely to do them. I have so many bites on my legs, trying not to scratch them is HELL. I’m thankful for fresh water and sunshine. What are you grateful for? Today Twitter changed, this is new Twitter. If you are not on Twitter or you are, watch this and think about how much you could learn in one day. I consume an insane amount of information & content in a day, which enriches my life greatly. Note to self: GET OUTSIDE.

The Cover of Rolling Stone, Sheepdogs & Beerfest

Woo hoo! Canadian bearded babe rockers won the cover of Rolling Stone contest.  I’ve not heard heaps of their music but I like their beards and attitudes from what I’ve seen/read. “We’ve been working hard for a long time,” said the band’s grateful frontman Ewan Currie. “We’re doing our best to stay humble and hard-working, we feel very blessed. All we needed was the attention.” Globe “The music industry has changed so much that there’s no set way of proceeding,” Currie said. “There’s not a formula you follow, like for other careers. You have to sort of jump on any opportunity that comes along and this has been a godsend for us.” Globe “”Good-time rockers The Sheepdogs are proud, bearded rock revivalists, with a whole manner of beards, ‘burns and ‘staches on display over the years. This may help bearded rock ‘n’ roll roll make its return to the cover of Rolling Stone.” CTV “Rock and Rollers from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. Specializing in melody, harmony, guitar solos and general feel-goodery. Twitter They made this video to get people voting. I like their style. We may not kill it in sports but we surely are kicking’ it in music. This video of them getting the news from Rolling Stone about winning is pretty good too. This weekend (Sunday) they are playing Beerfest. Everyone can go! Using coupon code ‘CASIE‘ saves you $5 on tickets. Get a ticket here. Will most likely sell out before Sunday. Full band lineup is here.  Our Digital Lounge has seating, wifi, power and lite snacks. <3 Matt Wells had some good Tweets & pix about them in NYC yesterday.  Love seeing Canada kicking a$$ in awesomeness. Good writeup about them in the Globe which included this B&Wphoto. Glad I’m seeing them Sunday so I can decide IRL about the music. I love that look, beard…
