2017 Canadian International AutoShow w/ @VWCanada

Recently I went to the AutoShow with VW to check out what’s new for 2018. It was a PA day so people were invited to bring kids and pets along for the special event. I documented it all with my Snapchat Spectacles and they were a hit. You know how much I love tech and these things are rad, watch the video here. I’ve always loved cars, we spent heaps of time in the garage and hot rod workshop w/ dad growing up . It’s incredible how far car tech has come!

Volkswagen is known for great performance, reliability, and safety, ‘a good German car’ as I’ve heard so many times. We were looking at the 2018 Tiguan Redesign, 2018 Volkswagen Atlas, and 2017 Volkswagen e-Golf. There was also another little one I just loved, scroll down to see!

The event was hosted by Amber Mac, George Pimentel, Afiya Francisco, and Heather Davis. Amber of course talked tech aspects of the new cars, George took photos, Afiya talked about style and how your car fits your lifestyle and aesthetic. Heather is a family road trip expert and she shared how the 2018 Atlas was a great family car for travel, seats 7!

The 2018 Tiguan Redesign is a great car for people who like adventure.  I like the aesthetic of this car, it’s sleek but tough, you can tow a set of seadoos or boat (up to 5500 pounds) and pack all kinds of stuff in the boot. Perfect for #cottagelife

New Kate Spade Boots, Ted Baker scarf, jacket from Venice Beach, and Spectacles of course!

My fav was the VW Beetle Dune. A few people said this was a perfect car for me. I love a cute little convertible! It’s actually quite spacious with 4 seats and enough room for a couple suitcases in the trunk.

Ready for a road trip? I AM!

One of the cool new things they launched at the AutoShow was the 2017 Volkswagen eGolf. This a 100% electric car, perfect for someone who loves technology and sustainability.

It’s got a fully-digital cockpit and all the fun of the OG Golf without the gas. There’s also an option for 12.3-inch digital display behind the steering wheel. This baby can go up to 150KM/hr (but don’t) and almost 200km on a single charge.

The future is HERE.

Virtual Casie, in Virtual Reality!

The VR experience was very cool. It was my first time wearing a sub pack and the gloves for wireless movement and touch in VR. I touched long grass, threw snowballs, and stacked rocks to make an inukshuk all in virtual reality. Well done on this guys!

The AutoShow is on right now until Feb 26th at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre.

There’s heaps of rad cars at the show but I definitely recommend popping by the VW booth in the North Building to see what’s new for yourself. The VR experience is totally worth trying. It’s a glimpse into the future!

Travel | Detroit in January w/ Ford Canada

Early January (after the tree house adventure) I’m flying to Detroit, Michigan for the North American International Auto Show. This is my third time at the show with Ford Canada as part of their global blogger/media outreach.

Casie Stewart, FORD, Naias

A couple years ago I attended the show and Ford snapped this great photo of me right before the auditorium filled up for a major media announcement. The NAIAS is very exciting and a super cool experience. I even made it into the Detroit Free Press, see here! Last year 5,000 journalists attended from 60 countries. Happy to be heading back!

On Earth Day 2015 I was in Dearborn, Michigan to learn about Ford’s commitment to sustainability. Can’t wait to find out what secrets and launches will be revealed in January. TELL ME ALL THE THINGS.

The press preview (Jan 10-12th) features 750 vehicles, interactive displays,  as NAIAS is North America’s largest and most prestigious auto showcase. I’ll be documenting my experience with Ford and sharing all kinds of BTS about launches, announcements, and other fun stuff we get up to. Make sure you’ve got me on the SNAPCHAT: casiestewart.

This year we’re staying at the Westin instead of in Dearborn, MI. It’s been ages since I visited the D and have a little bit of time to explore when I arrive and the start of our media adventures.

Get out and do something. Next week is Advertising Week in Canada and there is a bunch of cool things happening.  This time of year can be kinda depressing spending a day or few hours at a conference is a good way to escape the winter woes and hopefully stimulate your brain. Two things I love most about conferences are scoping out well branded booths and good wifi. The later can be a challenge sometimes. The Detroit Autoshow had totally massive displays with lights, sound, art, fashion and cars. It was crazy how bright the lights were. CES was really, really, huge the conference floor 1.6 million net square feet of exhibit space.

In partnership with Advertising Week launches Dx3 Canada, a new interactive trade show with sessions and exhibitors related to advertising, marketing and retail. My girl Amber Mac will be onsite filming her show and there’s a bunch of sponsors/exhbitors friends/partners of mine from over the years including Say Media, Trendhunter, Techvibes, Jaunt.ca. Some more details include:

  • 100 of Canada’s top digital solution providers
  • engaging free seminars
  • Amber Mac’s Technology Spotlight Interviews
  • show floor  etc

I’ve always loved advertising. Started a creative ad agency in high school entrepreneur class, was the youngest but got the highest mark. BOOM! Each week the Say Media blog posts ‘this week in venn‘ a diagram that relates to culture & advertising. This was last week’s one and it went along with an awesome post by the CEO titled ‘This is why you work in advertising.’ It’s a good read about the art & romance of good advertising, making conversations human and creating passion. Better advertising for a better world.

The DX3 Canada event is on Wednesday & Thursday next week. The trade show is FREE but if you want to attend the sessions you have to pay. There’s over 3o and lots of interesting stuff. I’ll be there as media snooping around & seeing what trouble I can cause talking to exhibitors & speakers.

They gave me TWO VIP passes for all access valued over $200. Wanna go? Comment below & link to YOUR FAVOURITE advertisement ever.

Thank goodness SOPA is on hold or linking to your fav advertisement could get shiz shut DOWN!

Happy Internetting earthlings 🙂

WINNER UPDATE  on TUES. JAN. 24:

Two winners of one VIP pass to DX3 are KEVIN & SHANNON. Thank you for sharing your fav ads with me. I will email your ticket 🙂

Sitting in the Product Development Centre at the Henry Ford Museum listening to a panel discussion on creativity, design, ideas, innovation & inspiration. It’s pretty neat because it’s not all Ford people there’s a mix of ages & backgrounds. I’m not gonna go into detail on it now so I  can actually pay attention. This photo was posted yesterday by Ford Europe from the Fusion press conference yesterday. Overalls from H&M, shirt StyleMint & vintage scarf from CTS.

Today I was quoted in the Detroit Free Press and the article is here. There’s a video of Joallore too. We’re representing Toronto here in the 313!

“There’s really cool booths where it’s like they’re not just appealing to you buying a car, but they want to create an experience for you – which is really cool,” said Casie Stewart, also a blogger from Toronto.

Have an awesome day. I’m off to Vegas tonight for CES. Ahhhhhhhh! Exciting 🙂
