NUIT BLANCHE 2010: paint it red

Sitting in LAX waiting for my flight and thinking about Nuit Blanche on Oct 2. It’s the weekend right when I get back and I wanna see friends, I wanna see YOU. Every year I get a group of peeps together and we go out and cruise the streets causing a ruckus etc. I love dancing in the streets. Interpretive dance FTW! This year, I wanna do that again but BIGGER. My idea is to meet at Starbucks – King and Yonge Street at 8pm. Dress in red, make a mob. Let’s go GENYTO!! How could would it be to have red paint & white painters outfits? A see of people dressed in red clothes? Red face paint? Maybe zombie face? 1,000 red balloons? I’m so excited for Halloween why not start early? Make a whole damn month of it. Lets do this together. I made a FB event, image above links to it. (Yes, I also hate FB events but it’s so easy to add/invite people ok. Just do it.) I love doing fun sh*t as you know, so if we have never met, this is a good time to get off your couch and come have fun with me & friends! Maybe we can karaoke after? What if we did mobile karaoke? Karaoke on the street? I’m open to any ideas you have too so like, share ’em. Lets have fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuun! Have to fly to New Zealand now. Thank you TIFF, Stella and all the agencies and all the people who have had me out to great events and films over the last week or so. It’s been my best year at TIFF ever and I’m throwing in the towel. Need to rest up and get ready to take on New Zealand. Was at (diet) Coke party first last night, was fun. They had a photo booth, you know I love that. Rode in a big Coke limo. Fun fun crazy. Shiny disco balls. Wore some recent goodies I’ve been given last night: Vest + skirt from Old Navy. White shirt + boots from Marks WW. Heart locket H&M. Lipstick is Poppy from Joe Fresh new makeup collection. Thanks guys. Boots are quite lovely. Nice colour and salt proof. tiff day seven: what say you. seasons changing.

Do you have any idea how excited I am? I just might fly to New Zealand, with my own damn wings. Last night was fun. Lotsa bands. They were all great. Tokyo Police Club Jeff Parazzo PJ Lazic Julia Schneider Picked up a suitcase for a friend. Business cards printed. I’ve not really been into them thus far but I want to make sure everyone remembers who I am and knows exactly where to find me. They don’t have my phone number on so kinda fun to give away. It’s the important stuff, twitter, blog, email. All the info you need to know. You will always know what I am doing. More than some of your friends who are not on Twitter or blog or Facebook or Tumbr or Posterous or LinkedIn or whatever other MSN, ICQ crap you are still using. I’ve had a very productive day. A wee bit of stress is starting to sink in. I’m over film festing and focussed on New Zealand Fashion Week. I’m feeling quite artistic and looking forward to the plane ride. I love airports, people travelling. In my carry on I’ll have netbook, notebook, sketchbook, nintendo, pillow and blanket. Watched this little video again today, I think it’s so cute. Time lapse, I love. I got a heap of clothes from Mark’s yesterday, yes, the Work Warehouse. You might be surprised how stylish. It was really fun trying on anything and everything before deciding on what I’d like to wear. One of my fav’s is this long black super soft cardigan. You can never have too many cardigans, perfect for all year. I got a pair of mom jeans, red gloves and grey leather riding boots too. This vid is kinda cute too, the music is Yelle. Been listening to her this morning. Last night’s movie Jucy was really really good. I am so happy I got to meet the girls from the movie before seeing it. Really make a difference when you get to up close with the actors. I related to them and gave them huge hugs after it was over. Post movie I met up with Morgan for a coffee. He played me a few songs from his solo album coming out in the new year. Impressed. Mum used to tell me”You can’t fly with the eagles if you’re with the seagulls” and I like that. “Be careful what you wish for” Mum said to me today as I was chatting her about what I’m up to. She called via Skype from the boat on the East Coast of Canada. Been a couple days since we last taked. Before she went on her sailing trip we used to chat almost daily. I would fill her on on what I’m up to. She inspires me, always has. I miss her. Everything I’m doing r I always wanteight now… the parties, the makeup the hair the clothes. It’s all new to me. I always wanted to be doing this stuff. Mum says luck is where preperation meets opportunity. I feel grateful. I’ve worked my ass off the last few years. I arrived in Toronto five years ago post uni in Australia. Back then, I didn’t know exactly what I wanted to do. I just did it. I believed in myself and I worked hard at whatever it was I was doing. When I was younger I used to say I wanted to be really well known for being good at something, I wasn’t sure what it was yet. Maybe I still don’t? Either way, I have always been determined. When I really want to do something there is little to no stopping me. Mum will for SURE tell you that. I want to interview her one day so you can meet her. She’s not been able to read my blog much from the boat, she usually reads it daily to see what I’m up to. She said it makes her happy. It makes me happy too. I love looking back on what I was doing previous years, same time. Makes me dream big about what I might be doing next year. Quite looking forward to the long flight…

TIFF day two: apparently somebody is famous

Oh man. Was in bed all day today. I need to rest. I am almost Tiff’d out. Premiere tonight thanks the lovely Cadillac Insider. Going to see CLIENT 9 The rise and fall of Eliot Spitzer. Have to go get my tickets but I don’t want to go outside yet. It sounds windy. Not as sunny today. Yesterday was an awesome day, an awesomely looooong day. Yorkville all day Tastmakers Gifting Lounge for nails done, makeup and more. Thanks for the presents guys! That neighbourhood is growing on me, could also be that it is Film Fest so buzzing. Joe Fresh makeup is really nice. My lipstick didn’t leave marks when kissing cheeks of all the zillion people I saw throughout the day. Diesel Lounge for lunch on the patio and a mini photo shoot with hot NY photog Raphael Mazzucco. He is apparently a pretty big deal, shooting covers of Time, Sports Illustrated and Victoria’s Secret. Can’t wait to get those photos. He was also very good looking; tall, long hair, charming. Went to Vitamin Water Backyard Social. Was fun. Did this interview with O’Nizz and had my phototaken heaps. I could really get used to this kinda stuff. Met a few peeps that made a point to come say hi and were really happy to meet me for the first time. HI GUYS! Isn’t this a scary thought…four of ME! I was at the penthouse of the SOHO Met yesterday afternoon. Madonna stays there. It’s the sweetest pad I’ve seen in the city ever. Tomorrow kicks off Toronto International Film Fest. Let the wild rumpus begin! I’m going to an opening party and screening tomorrow. I’m bringing arm candy and he’s young and cute. The next ten days are going to be insane. I need to stay focused and on track, I hate when I don’t adhere to my schedule. Although sometimes agressive, I try my best. Building a new blog. SO many tweaks and stuff and things I don’t know how to do that I need to ask. I have my friend Patrick helping me but it just ain’t that easy as uploading a new theme and hitting publish. Ah, I wish. Nice working on a holiday, the amount of emails is slower than normal and I feel like I got lots done. The airshow jets have been flying by all afternoon. I used to be quite excited by them but I just don’t feel the same anymore. I care more about getting shit done than rushing to the window to get a photo. Got a post card today from Rochelle while she was in Laguna Beach. It is vintage and handwritten. I love that she though of me, especially that she hand picked a vintage number. THANK YOU. Was up early. Can’t sleep in anymore. It’s like I’ll be miss something. I like to be busy, work hard. It’s a crazy cycle of inspiration, the more you do the more you can do. Made it to my meeting today, late. Cabbie dropped me at 333 when I needed to be at 33. RAN. This September kicks off a bright start the the next few months. I’ve got a full calendar until Christmas! After that, I’m thinking about a vacation but who knows where I will be by that time. I only ever imagine I would be where I am right now. Look up at the sky, be thankfull. The beauty of working for myself is that as long as I keep living and have internet access, I’m working. I promise myself to make the most of each day, set high goals and document it. September is a ver exciting time in Toronto as we host the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF). I’ve not gotten an movie tickets and I need to get on that. I’ve been invited to some pretty neat stuff in Yorville during the day throughout the festival. Wasn’t able to attend before cause I was working for THE MAN, now, going to that stuff is my JOB! I am THE MAN. The next three months go like this (GenYTO & TweetgasmTO are in there for both Sept. & Oct. somewhere too)… Sept. 9-17: Toronto International Film Fest Sept. 18-28: New Zealand Fashion Week Sept. 30: TEXxTO Conference Sept. 30-Oct 3: Boston Friends visit TO Oct.4: Contract with TrendHunter (3 Months Oct-Dec) Dec: Go visit Mum in Bahamas on the Boat for Christmas. I read a really good article by Alexandra Samuel called “Lady Gaga and the transcendent narcissism of social media“. I love her. You know that. She inspires me so much. I stuck to plan and cleaned rearranced my whole room. It’s lovely outside and I could go to the pool but I am to antsy to relax. I wanna do stuff. Once my room is cleaned I can pull out the sketch book and get on the projects. I love being creative and having designs that no one else has, it makes me feel totally unique. I’ve also been looking at machine embroidery designs and seeing how I can create some of my own designs to put onto clothes I already have to personalise them. Being crafty is great. I would love to wear some Canadian designers when I go to New Zealand for FW. I’m not about to go out and buy a heap but if someone out there is it interested email me. Otherwise, I’ll be decked in my own line. I was putting myself through Uni when I lived in Australia so I didn’t have much money. I needed to work in order to make it through the end of the year. I got called Cas and my BFF there was Cheryl aka Shazza. I made a clothing brand called Cas&Shazz. It looked kinda like this CAS+SHAZZ. I wrote it on couple shirts and made it on this neat sweater. I wanted a logo you could recoginize from far away, like Nike. My idea was ‘an ass you can recognize’. I used to write CASIE on stuff all the time. I’m going international.

First stop – Auckland, New Zealand for the 10th Anniversary of NZ Fashion Week! I am happy to be attending as a media VIP. I’ll be covering the week’s event, meeting designers and talking with sponsors. Stoked. Photos by Lynsie Roberts Since I’ve been to NZ and AM a Kiwi I’ve grown up with New Zealnd influenced style this is REALLY exciting to me. They are always ahead of North American style over there. In 2004 I came back from down under wearing cowboy boots, skinny jeans with a mullet and a fedora. Two years later, skinny jeans on everyone. I can not WAIT to see how they Fashion Week in New Zealand. Style parade!! I leave for NZ Sept. 18th for about 10 days. Will hopefully get to see some of my Kiwi cuzzies. This is me last night at the Bon Jovi concert. It was really fun. Tonight is karaoke with my friends but first a TweetUp along King Street that’s all free. Wednesday night was Jeremy Wright‘s birthday and it was so much fun. Our Toronto Social Media crew is seriously some of the mostest awesomest people I have ever known. my fav android market downloads

These are my fav apps I’ve downloaded to my Motorola Milestone android phone mini-computer from Telus. Figured it was about time I shared them with you. By far the coolest thing I’ve ever seenon anyone’s phone – Google Sky Map. With Google Sky Map for Android you have the magic to discover, view and search the sky by pointing your phone to outerspace. It’s keeps me up at night, stargazing. I searched The Southen Cross, a star constallation I have tattooed on my back, my very first tattoo. You can see it in the southern Hemisphere near New Zealand & Australia. Last night, I found it from my bed. Makes the world seem small, and me there looking at it, bigger than life. I don’t really play games that much but two that I’ve kept are Labyrinth and Jewels . They both kinda make you smarter which makes me happy, win-win. I like Foursquare too, obviously. I use Compas & Metal Detector for fun sometimes. I have the Gaga’s Monster app and Lady Gaga ringtones too. My phone rings bad romance, love love love. Some others I use for blogging are: WordPress for Android – great for bobile blogging, not that many options but good enough Fx Camera – Photo settings like Toy Cameras, Polandroid, Fisheye, Symetrical, Warhol Camera Illusion – heaps of different setting I don’t really get but on turns yout photo into a drawing. i’ll love you forever

Today I logged into Facebook as I do every day. I check the pages for work post, make changes etc, then I check my own messages. I had two messages and not spam about some event I don’t care about. One from Dad and one from a friend in New Zealand, her Mum, one of Mum’s oldest friends, passed away yesterday. Her name is Julie. Julie came to visit us a few years ago. It was so much fun to have her around. She came to visit with her daughter and gave us this book called Succulent Wild Woman by SARK. Julie filled the book with gold confetti angels, stuck between pages and all down the spine, throughout the whole book. When we opened they fell all over the floor and it was beautiful. To this day angels turn up around Mum’s house in the darnedest places. “This book is my glowing invitation to you — to live a rich, succulent life! I explore love, sexuality, romance, money, fat, fear and creativity. It’s a little bit like reading my diary — with permission. Succulence is powerful! and so are we as women.” SARK writes a journal and read a bunch of her posts today. They’re happy and inspiring, full of colour and bright thoughts and markers and stars and stuff like that. It’s really weird going to someones Facebook after they’ve passed, I wanted to post on it but I didn’t and it made me feel sad for a minute. I’m excited. Like, I mean, reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeally, excited. There are so many things happening around right now that make me want to puke a rainbow of joy for weeks on this thing. Sia Concert – Tonight: She’s performing on MTV Live. I’m working at The MTV Temple instead of MuchMusic. Awesome. Hills Finale – Tonight: I’ve got almost 30 people coming to ma Hills party at MTV. I used to have Hills parties at my house. The friends who are coming all blog and/or tweet. Hellz fucking yeahz. Jays vs Boston – Wednesday: My cousin Isaac and his GF are here from NEW ZEALAND. Last time I saw him (the only time we met), I was 12. It was 1994. Birthday – May 8: Officially TBD. I’d like to have a “haven’t met you yet” party, everyone comes and meets everyone else #casie. Florida – May 27-31: just talked to my friends yesterday and I’m so excited. Ready for a vacation with friend I haven’t seen in a whole but I love. Gonna dance heaps. MMVA – June 20: Watch it play out on Twitter #mmva The G20 – June 26-27: right near my house. Rumor has it I need a pass to get to and from work. Hung out with my sis the other day. Quite hilarious when we hang out, the older we get the more similar, we are, especially our mannerisms and the way we talk. We spend half the time laughing out loud. For real. People always say we sound the same on the phone, especially our parents. More and more we look similar in photos, too, it’s totally crazy going through her pix. It was so nice down by the lake and watching the sunset If you live her or near the water somehwere, go there more often. Jenie took this pic of me, haha. Pop’a colla. There’s nothing like hanging out with her. Our cousin is coming this week FROM NEW ZEALAND. First young cuzzy that’s been over this side of the planet since I was like ten. Super exciting. Hanging out in the beaches with Carly this afternoon. So nice and heaps of trees around, much different than the concrete jungle where I spend mosta my days. ♥

Cleaning my room today and so I can laze on Sunday afternoon. Had to take a break already. WHY IS PUTTING AWAY ALL MY CLOTHES SO HARD? This is some of my tshirt collection. How cool is this guy? One of Mum’s old hot rod shirts, also as close as I get to camping. I’m watching My Life As Liz on MTV. It’s pretty funny, I like her. Before the show came out someone at work said that I’d probably like this show. Just noticed, the first thing she says at the start is “This is my life“. No wonder I like this show. She also says “MTV made me do this”, cute. BTW have you seen the FORA ads on MTV? Love this one too, 1977 & from New Zealand. This shirt is older than me and still in great condition. (super soft too). Now that, is quality. Anyone downtown recognize this? Sun was shining really pretty on the island when I came home from work last night. It was cloudy with little sunny spots, you can’t really see through my camera but I saw it with my own eyes. Trust me. There’s so many distractions around my house. I feel like painting in the sunshine and staring out the window. Gotta remind my damn self to get off the computer and go do something. Not sure what I’m doing tonight. over forty years of family fashion

My shirt, it was Mums. She just told me that she got it when she was 15 in New Zealand it it cost her $15. She used to make $2 and hour back then but she just HAD to have it. She charged it to her Mum’s account (Nana) and had to pay it off over time. I LOVE when Mum tells me stories of her clothes. When she moved to Canada she kept her clothes, Jenie & I wear most of them now. She had/has great style, my Mum. Probably one of the reason I have so many clothes, mine all tell a story too. I love them, hell, I’ve been sleeping with them for the past week (half my bed is a pile of clothes right now!). Heading back to fashion Week this afternoon for my last day. I’ve been waiting for Barbie by David Dixon and TONIGHT is the night. Not sure about partying after…really proud of myself that I’ve not woken up hung over or attended any crazy late night fashion partied. It makes a difference when you actually have to work, ah, I remember so many years of just attending parties. I posted a couple things on my OH CASIE blog and there’s a heap of Twitpics too.
