Day 401: Put on a Canadian Tuxedo

What day is it again? Feels like that sometimes now, eh? It’s Monday and I always like to dress up but today I went a little casual and put on a Canadian Tuxedo. Got a new chair for my desk recently and it’s pretty nice. Not as comfortable to sit on for long periods but that’s ok. Need to stand up and walk around more tbh. One thing I love about my Apple Watch is the reminders to stand each hour. I’ve been meaning to write a review on it because there are so many great features that I now use every day. Pretty sure I got this chambray top from a clothing swap and these jeans are old ones from Cory Lee. I never used to wear jeans but I kinda like them now. Took a nap in my jeans the other day. Mastercard Stylicity Celebrates the Canadian Tuxedo at The Room

Fashion week events kicked off last night with Mastercard Stylicity at The Bay on Queen Street. The fashion community gathered for an exclusive event seeking to redefine the eye catching denim-on-denim Canadian Tuxedo. Special guests included The Coveteur’s Stephanie Mark and HBC Fashion Director Suzanne Timmins. I rolled up with Brock Mclaughlin and we were up to are usual shenanigans of course. I picked up these glasses from Top Shop. They reminded us of Andy Warhol. These book trees are beautiful. I wish I had room for one at the house. Thanks Mastercard Stylicity and The Bay for the gift card. We all got to pick a card from a magical bowl and although they each had  some value, there was only ONE with a huge payout. Mine was $10 which I appreciate! Blogger discount? No, JK.. It was an error but I had a LOL. Where do I order these socks or high heel feet? Um, hello! She looked Emo to me. CottageLife | So Long Sweet Summer Home

I rolled down the window as soon as we got to cottage county this weekend, Toronto didn’t have snow yet and I wanted fresh air. It smelled like winter, crisp and clean. Closing the cottage is bittersweet, it looks so nice all covered in snow but we can’t stay. I wanted to. I imagined staying up for weeks, making fires, taking trips to town for groceries. Wearing jogging pants. There was more snow than I thought and it crunched with each step.  Tossed a few snowballs in the lake and watched them stay in little circles. The water is really, really, cold, small ponds alongside the road are freezing over. Picked up this blanket and mugs from the Target for TOMS collection. They were sold out of the poncho I wanted but I got Sean one of the chambray shirts. He has at least five that look similar but this one was nice. He’s totally one of those ‘Lumbersexuals’  everyone is talking about with a beard, who wears plaid and the Canadian tuxedo (denim on denim). Had to pour out our homemade beer and tried snow painting. No Picasso! Winter is a season I find inspiring.  I’m planning to lay low and hibernate the next few months. Working on something I hope to launch in April. In the depth of winter I finally learned that there was in me an invincible summer. Albert Camus For now, lights out at the cottage. The very last step of closing for the season. Sean has agreed to wear it to a ‘Ugly Christmas Sweater Party’ and I reckon it’s a contest winner! Sorry guys, the sweater ISN’T for sale. They’ve got items for for men, women, kids, and home and with this collection, Target is donating a blanket, meals or shoes in partnership with TOMS and North America-based charities American Red Cross Disaster Relief, Canadian Red Cross, Feeding America and Food Banks Canada. I’ve got a couple pairs of TOMS and have picked a few of my fav items from the Target collection below. Love this poncho and am hoping to score one bright and early tomorrow morning. Each purchase will give a blanket so someone in need. Sean’s fav outfit is chambray shirts and jeans, aka the Canadian tuxedo. The plan is to pick one of these up for him and by doing that, TOMS will provide one week of meals through one of their selected charities. The kids clothes are especially cute and by picking something up for your fav lil’ shorty you’re doing some good.  This t-shirt gives 1 week of meals and the hoodie 1 blanket. Over the Rainbow & Over The Moon!

Oh hey, today I am wearing a Canadian tuxedo (summer style)!  Tonight I’m heading to Over the Rainbow in Yorkville for a denim fitting.  I’m also styling two mannequins for their September back to School COOL windows as a ‘Rainbow Insider’ style influencer.  I’ll be posting a contest over the next week for a $100 gift certificate for the store and you can meet me at the Back to School event on Thursday, August 29th to pick it up. In other news, I’ve been selected by Toronto International Film Festival as 1 of 50 the city to partner with them for the festival in next month in two weeks. I’ll be first with the scoop on all things TIFF. So, in other words, stay tuned right here for constant updates on all things awesome. Invites are starting to roll out for lounges, events, and after parties.  Doing a little  press for the documentary I am in the premieres September 14th too. SO EXCITING EVERYTHING, OMG. My TIFF festival experiences from the last few years here. Took this panoramic on my way to work and check how long the streetcar is. I call this “Never-ending TTC”. Little grassy patches have popped up on around the trees on Queen Street. I like this. Adds  character to the little guys. Tonight after my shoot and styling at Over the Rainbow I’m zipping to the Thompson Roof for a Molson event then home to pack. We are off to LA at 10:30am tomorrow. Toronto International Film Fest: Tastemakers Lounge

When celebrities come to town for TIFF they get invited to lounges to see & receive new & exciting products. Media get invites too. It’s a way for companies to get their products in the hands of stars and journalists. The Tastemakers Lounge is hosted by RockIt and they do an excellent job of bringing together brands & people. I took my PA Kate for the experience it and too take photos. New glasses from FYSH. Thanks Team! I picked out new glasses from FYSH NATION last year too. This is me rockin’ them w/ Morgan Ross at Strombo’s TIFF party. Next it was time to pick out bracelets and charms from PANDORA. Kate  took home a few goodies too. Kate chose macrame black leather and I picked sterling silver. See all the styles here. I chose a wee little birdy. Twitter <3 Planning to have some serious game nights this winter cause Mattel has hooked me up with rad games. I picked up and ANGRY BIRDS sling shot! REAL ANGRY BIRDS! I played it at their Mattel Game Night over the summer. It’s fun. Was given this gorgeous silk eyemask from Cilque and OH MY GOD I slept with it last night. My eyes were in the clouds and I had an amazing sleep. I’m dying for a set of Cilque sheets and robe to match. Made friends with team Sharpie. I carry Sharpie’s with me all the time and had one in my purse to proove it. Then Kate and I raided the drawers. Got limited edition 80’s glam colours too! Told the team how I always start out with Sharpie for tattoo ideas. I drew this bracelet tatt on my left arm on with two different green Sharpie’s for about three years before I got it.
