don’t test me in the most annoying competition.

Stuck at airport family with bunch of kids behind us. They are annoying. Update: Erica Ehm and the mommy bloggers went to TOWN on giving me hell for this post. Thanks for the hits and personal attacks. I was stuck in an airport and these parents from Florida let their kids run ALL OVER THE PLACE. Who does that? I wasn’t attacking ‘every parent’.  Check out this little blurb in the HUffPo, I’m sure I inspired it: “But should you find yourself in the presence of a family, try to avoid behaving like this girl. I’m thinking of bookmarking her site to show my daughter an example of how not to act in public. The tight close-ups of her sun-damaged face making rude expressions about a family committing such atrocities as wondering where they’ve put their boarding passes and worrying about running out of diapers during a delay do a disservice to urban hipster doofuses everywhere. Corinne McDermott is the founder of Have Baby Will Travel – your online guide for travel with babies, toddlers & young children.  Hey, why don’t you show your daughter my site? And also the amazing things I’ve done?  Then show her what you wrote about me and explain that? Original blog post images have been removed because those Mommy bloggers bullied me and I couldn’t handle it anymore. WHAT KIND OF MOMS DO THAT, HUH? I’ve decided to be annoying too. I’m using three outlets, ahem…airport asshole. Please don’t be offended by this post if you have kids. My parents used to travel with me heaps as a kid. If anything, feel sorry for me! I am a terribly creative person trapped in an airport with a bunch of misbehaved rascals. They are running all around the place, being loud, can’t hear the announcements, and the parents aren’t doing…

if we’re doing high school again, this time i’m the teacher.

Something happened at school yesterday Mum. One of the kids posted a list of all the ‘popular’ kids and everyone started talking. Like, enough talking to make some noise.   Zach named the “Top 150 Toronto Twitter Influencers” based on Klout ranking. Here’s the top 20. Last Summer Klout published the Toronto Top 10 Influencers. The reactions reminded me of being back at PHS, I’m pretty sure a list like this was passed around there once or twice. If you’re not familiar with Klout (duh?), Klout is the Standard of Influence Online and ranks people based on their social interactions and conversations (Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn). This is what the new Klout Dashboard looks like: Zach is known to stir controversy & likes to get people talking. Prime example, this tweet.  He’s also the one behind recent Canada’s Sexiest Election Candidate poll. There’s heaps of comments & reactions on his #TOTop150 post. I reckon Klout appreciates the attention, I’ve seen them get lots of it over the last year. Remember last summer when a bunch of us got free flights? That was fun. How we interact with each other on the Internet is new to everyone. I love developments in social tracking, analytics & metrics such as this. Klout has established themselves as the online standard but I reckon clout with a ‘C’ is more important in the world. Hey, there’s no ranking scale for that one, baby. Fashion people don’t care about Klout scores, some people do. Then this happened… (Up to 1,666 views at 3:33am) Uh, ohhhhhh. While this was happening I was lazing around not Tweeting. Had a real nice afternoon. Took photos of pretty flowers & coloured with rainbow Pepsi markers. Picked up my fav ever cacao quinoa cereal from Kensington. Watched Netflix. Took a nap.

is a reaction what you are looking for @globeandmail? annoying.

I’m heading to San Francisco tomorrow to meet with Virgin America. I was recently in New Zealand ,as you know, and had a wonderful experience with international people and companies. So, as  I was walking today I thought, “maybe I should consider jobs outside of Canada, it seems there is more opportunity for a young lady like myself”. Then I saw this. Urgh. Rolls eyes. I get it that it’s meant to draw attention issues about ‘women in power’ or make people pipe up and talk about the brain drain but like, seriously? I feel like the bunch of “old school people” sat together in a room and decided “this is a great idea”. Meanwhile, as a young person, it makes me think “hey maybe that’s right” and does NOT make me want to join the discussion AT ALL. To me, this billboard is silly. You get more bee’s with honey. Traditional news can be so annoying, this is a prime example.

in a new york state of mind

Happy Friday! This baby was leaked this morning! HELLLS YEAH> Aiden is back. I love John Corbett. He’s like, my dream man, the sexiest. If you’re him, or kinda like him, let me know. I’m right here waiting for you. Was just staring at his photo for a min and I’ve totally dated a few of J.Corbett doppelgängers,  prime example right here. Mass Exodus last night was fun. Always a great time hanging out with the girls. We got called Fairies cause we looked so cute, all bleach blonde/pink/grey hair, stylish & short. Why did we not take a photo of us? Ah well. We had great seats and  Fritz Helder was my fav part. There was some really interesting designs, I have a bunch of notes to go over this weekend but for now here’s a few of my fav designs. All the pix are by the lovely Lynsie Roberts.

introduced to your blog via Professor at Queen’s U

Got this email last night… “I am a Film&Media student at Queen’s U. I was recently introduced to your blog via Professor Sidney Eve Matrix (specializing in social media trends), when she used your 12secvid status update as an example in her lecture on “statuspheres“. I checked out your blog and am very surprised at how you live your life so publicly. I am very excited about social media and am definitely a regular engager, but as a woman (this is going to sound weird) I get very discouraged from being more “open” to the public eye because of privacy issues ie. stalkers, perves, etc. How do YOU DO IT? How do you deal with people like that? Is this simply of your attitude towards things like this? You ignore them? This might seem like an odd e-mail, but I’ve been waiting to talk to a female who is deeply immersed in social media about issues of privacy and so forth…any input/thoughts/advice that you have, I’d be more than glad to listen!” I looked up Sydney and she writes a blog called Cyberpop, tracking trends of digital pop culture. Cool stuff there. I’m gonna reply to her student this evening. I never took any classes on social media, I was there when it all started. I spent so many (and still do) late nights diving  in head first and surfing through the world wild web; I kinda traded my surf board for a keyboard. Very cool to be part of a class, I hope for more stuff like this in 2010. If you ever wanna ask me something, go right ahead!

il y était une fois

Bonjour chacun ! Good Morning everyone! Today I am reporting from beautiful Montreal. It’s kinda cloudy but I’m preying for sun.  It was a really long drive yesterday. Getting out of Toronto took forever, there was so much traffic and the weather was shit. We stopped for dinner in Kingston there was horrible style and our waiter was wearing shorts with a tie and dress shirt. Dinner was $80 and we tried to leave out left overs but he chased us down the street with them. I left them on a patio at another restaurant. I’ll take some photos when we’re out today and update this baby later. Bon weekend! *good thing Jeff is bilingual 😛

dita von teese casie stewart perez hilton sandwich

Twitter is a great for communicating directly with anyone or to a large audience. Here’s  an example of someone famous saying something and another famous person’s famous blog with me in the middle. Last night, Dita tweeted that ‘when russian hookers fight, they take off a shoe and throw it at their foe. FYI.’ I was like whoa man that’s crazy and replied ‘you’re at a hooker fight?’ Then she replied. ` Today Perez Hilton posted about Dita and ‘the fight’ mentioning her response to ME.  Didn’t link back to me but whatever,  the tweet lasts forever 😛 Thanks to Pam for pointing it out, rarely read Perez anymore. I’d loved Dita for ages and think that’s pretty cool. p.s. Check out in the latest Notable TV video from TEDxTO. Me and my outfit are at 2:46 🙂

it’s not always easy but it’s always fun

“i can’t write today somethings wrong i can’t smile today life is a sad song my heart hurts so does my foot in my shoe, today is a sad day without you. “ This is a little poem published in my book in 1996. I’m working on getting that site up so you can see all the good stuff I did when I was a teeny-bopper. It runs through my head when I get writers block, prime example…today. I hate the days when I have so many thoughts I can’t even get them down. If I have to think too much about what to write I save a draft and start something new and random then see where it goes.  I’ve composed three today. My mind is racing with excitement about projects and a few other things. I’m really looking forward to Wired Wednesday tonight. I feel like I weird Wednesday right now.  Didn’t bike today, my dress is too pretty. Dating: UK men vs Canadian men from Muireann Carey-Campbell on Vimeo. I’ve met some really rad girls in the TO blogging scene. I want to share a video of Muireann from Bangs and Bun. I watched it today and I have a crush on her accent. We’re having brunch Sunday and I’m gonna let her do most of the talking! Exploring Cycling from KeriCDN on Vimeo. Keri  is the Canadian Explorer and I love reading about her adventures. Karly writes ‘Oh, hey there‘ a Tumblr blog. The girls have all become my friends on Twitter and I enjoy reading their blogs.  Check ’em out!

i’m your suggested contact

Yesterday I was at MaRS for Net Change Week. I was an expert at Social Mastermind // Social Media for Social Change hosted by RedWire.  I had the opportunity to share ideas and brainstorm with the ladies from Raising the Roof Canada’s only national charity for the homeless. I really enjoyed learning about homelessness in Canada and was happy to chat about their youth initiative.   They haven’t really tapped into social media which  gave me lots of opportunity to share my ideas on how they can use social media for good. There was lots of Twitter talk!!  In the end, each group came up with a tangible strategy that they could to take back to the office and execute. It was awesome to see  friends hard at work helping charities. Prime example, these fine gentleman…@d_hock, Andrew Lane from @nitchblog and Julian Brass from @notableTV. I’m have always been very interested in youth issues. When I was in high school I was Director of PR on the City Youth Council and we started a rock festival and opened a drop-in centre for city youth.  It was rewarding and gave me an opportunity to learn a lot about PR and how to turn ideas into reality.  In the evening session I made an appearance at Wired Wednesday. Everyone was wearing name tags with a suggested contact on it…I was theirs.

i am now a world record breaking human

This past Saturday was #pibTO and we did it. We broke the Guinness World record for Coffee Acts of Kindness and has over 600 people buying coffee for the person behind them in line. This is very exciting and impressive considering it was probably the windiest day in Toronto ever (see example video). All the notable media were out to take part and cover the event. Darius is getting ready to chat CP24 and I’m having a hoot chatting it up with Oren from Rogers. There were all kinds of entertainment news reporters flocking around. Love it. It was an amazing day filled with great people for a good cause. One hundred percent of the proceeds went to the SickKids Foundation. Check out all these good lookin‘ do-gooders!! You can catch other mentions about #pibTO in today’s Metro, BlogTO, Nitch blog. One of my favorite parts of the day was Mr.Scott Jackson beatbox champion. He is amazing.
