coming home, nothing quite like it mama.

Mmm, donut & coffee. What a trip. Getting to Florida isn’t that difficult. I’ve been blessed with great travel the last year so this time, when I encountered delay, after delay, I wasn’t too upset. (Except when I cried on the way there and missed a fancy dinner with my sister & friends.) This was leaving Florida, good sign I reckon, C8. My fav number is 8. Picked up Fast Company (mostly because of the Conan cover) and learned about these rad wooden surf boards. I love surfing. I love the ocean. I love summer. I love…affirmation girl? Bye bye beachy. Mama loves Miami. Home, wahhh. Get me off this thing… just kidding. Look, something shiny out the window. REMEMBER THIS. The reason I picked up Fast Company aside from Conan was this article “The 100 Most Creative People in Business”. I strive to be here one day. Jack Dorsey, (one of the Twitter Founders) is #4 on the list. He is a cool guy. Listened to a few of his talks. There’s a couple good ones on itunesU from Stanford. I totally love Conan. He is so funny, combine that with his divine creativity and you’ve got a whole lot of awesome. I reckon he’s a cool Dad. Does he have kiddios? Alex Kipman from Microsoft (brain behind Kinect) made the list too. I would LOVE a Kinect. So fun. I kick ass at the dancing game. Challenge me anytime! I was quite inspired to see a few companies I’ve worked with recently on the list. Christian Parks the Global Marketing Cheif @ Levis. Read my article about ‘Crafting Your Personal Brand‘ on Levis here. Tonight is the Pepsi Throwback Retro Tweetup. I’m pretty stoked to have about 200 friends & media together for a few hours. Got some…

Weather has been so lovely. It’s so weird to not blog. I took a break but I missed you internet. I’m addicted to sharing.  Hollywood, Florida woo hoo. Dad always used to do this when we went to Swiss Chalet. Jenie & I have been LOLing so hard this whole weekend, we all have. It’s awesome. We went to Haulover Beach Fri & Sat for the afternoon. Had some nice long walks (haha) and floated in the ocean. I could do that all day. These things made the loudest noise when you whacked them on the walls. So funny. My Dad is building one of these right now. Rat Rod, so wicked. Jenie & I wore really cute outfits Friday & last night. I love dressing up. I want to be Karl Lagerfeld for halloween this year. Dinner time. Hope you are having a great weekend. I’m really excited for Pepsi Throwback on Tuesday when I get back from vacation. Toootalooooooooooooo! xo CASIE

stay up to see the dawn in the colors of bennetton?

Look left, straight out, yep that’s the ocean, Cape Cod. Trafficked some sand home. It’s real crystally, like round stones almost. Art-Dramatic setting on XZ-1 camera is quite dramatic. See, wasn’t really THAT dramatic out. This photo is for Kristen. She told me how she would drive over it every summer on the way to the Cape growing up. Love you. Flying home is always a pleasure with Porter. Next flight is in the summer if not before. I hope there’s one before. I also hope summer puts a hurry on getting here. I need to get outside and soak up some sun. Maybe I will venture to the island. Enjoy the day!

thereis a certain calming peace when it’s this foggy

Restless Its a thin line that divides the ocean and the sky. A thin line which divides you and I. A small space. Without a trace, feelings vanish before my eyes. People leave to go back home and I am left here all alone. Resting by the ocean and taking in the sky. The waves are restless and so am I. Written:2004 Posted: May 22, 2006 Found these old pix as I was traveling through a time warp in MSN hotmail land from 2005-2006. I had really dark hair for a season here and there. I lived in New York and Indiana. I dated a hockey player. Seems so weird and long ago that life. It’s crazy how much we change as time goes by. I’ve been through so many different stages and likes, habits and hobbies. When I really think about it like now it’s quite amazing. I’m really excited for the future. Who knows what I will get up to, my wildest dreams I guess.  I’m happy to get wiser as I get older too, make better decisions that way. Have a great day 🙂

leave all your love and your longing behind you can’t carry it with you if you want to survive

Walked down to the ocean in Beach Haven, tide was out. So beautiful. I miss being near the ocean. When I lived in Bondi (Australia) I used to visit the water each day, lay in the sand, stare at the sky. I was really happy there, I’m happy now too. I climbed on the childrens boat, laxed on a bench, lazed in the sun. The flowers here are very beautiful. I have heaps of photos fronm the past week. People here have quite lovely gardens. Nana & Grandad always had a really nice garden. He had passion fruit trees , flowers and vegetables. I carved my name in a tree there too. Love you Grandad, miss you. Chilled out with Nana today. This is on my cousins lawn. Their house is great. I’ve been lucky this trip to stay at really nice places. I enjoyed staying with Kms the other day. His place felt kinda like my old house on Broadview in TO; artsy and musical with character. Nice fro babe. Walked into downtown Beach Haven, there’s about five shops, three takeaways, a dairy and a cafe with a foursquare checkin. I have a meeting at the cafe in the morning and will feel like my trip is complete if I can steal that Mayorship. GAME, SET, MISSION. Beer o’clock and diner making time.  Got an extra suitcase today so I can bring home all my goodies. Love it here but ready to come home. Lots of exciting things on the horizon. love & light my friends xo

factory girl

I slept for 12 hours last night. I laid down, exhausted, at 8pm and was woken up after 1am. Sabrina thought I had been at the Notable TV party. My body and mind obviously needed rest. Today’s a day for wellies, a mini and no tights….it’s gonna be 17 degrees! Oh, I love! I’m kinda gonna miss walking through the factory each morning. It’s really pretty especially during fall when the leaves on the vines change colour. Sabrina and I really enjoy this red vine. Don’t mind the gay look on my face! I’m much better when I smile… There’s a lot of history and old fixtures that I enjoy; the rail tracks, old boiler room, old fire hydrants. The new office will have it’s own things to love, this I do not doubt. The closing date for the Harajuku Lovers contest is FRIDAY! I originally messed up the date but have been informed by the sponsors that it is TOMORROW. I’ll be making the draw for the winner after 5pm. Tomorrow night the October edition of GenYTO at Spice Safar on King West. Come celebrate with me. Come meet and greet with a bunch of TO’s smart, young, cool people. It is a night not to be missed!! What’s up with the new Olympic Torch design? I don’t like it. I prefer a REAL torch.

the best eight minutes of your life

Sabrina and I have been known to do the the occasional social experiment. In our experiments we try out social situations outside the usual routine, tonight is one of those nights. We’re going speed dating! There’s a couple of us going and it’s sure to be a hoot. I have no idea what to expect but it will be an experience! Must get ready now! Starts at 8:30. The Report: I slowly sipped one beer and scored the  most comfortable seat in the corner. The three of us sat beside each other and it lasted about two hours. The guys went around in about five minute increments and chatted to each of the dozen girls. There were some weirdo’s and a couple nice ones. Only one guy lived downtown. I reckon the downtown people just go out.  Not really my scene but and interesting one, social experiment complete. We left right after and didn’t stay for the comedy show. It was my first time at The Comedy Bar on Bloor and honestly, it really smells like someones bum in that neighborhood.

it was so weird at the time, i couldn’t stop myself

i’m not sure what happened but it did. i light went on. it was a few things that lead me there. creative people around me, compliments on creative work, being surrounded by smart, successful, creative business people. thinking about ‘it’s not how good you are it’s hot good you wanna be’, one of my favorite books. i feel like i can’t really go back now. they say if you do what you love you will have success, i love doing this. i love writing and taking photos and laughing at myself and remembering thing things i forget. it makes me happy to do social good; social good in funness, good causes, good people. i stayed up all night. learning about things. reading blogs, commenting. drawing in sketchbook.when i have an idea i write it down. i’ve found some neat stuff lately and most i’ve posted on my tubmlr blog. it’s all the things i find around the internet that i don’t put here but like to share. i read a great article called ‘the 7 vices of highly creative people, posted on salon.com, Feb. 9, 200o. i know i have my vices and bad habits, but i have good ones too. read it here. “If you go through life free of bad habits, you won’t live forever, but it will feel like it. ”

Yesterday at the TFC was amazing. I’ve never wanted to be a fan of a game as much as I did being in th. I had a blast. I’m very grateful that my friend took me. I yelled my guts out. Clapped, whistled, jumped up and down and made friends. It was a tie and the fans are the most intense I’ve ever seen in pro sports. The weather was a roller coaster of fun. Rain, sun, rain, sun, rain, sun. Luckily Av had these killer TFC rain parkas that he got during the first season.I sat in the rain and drank my beer and I was warm and dry. I love the skyline. This is a great city. I was also super satisfied with the food. I had a chip butty. Last time I had a chip butty I was 12 and at Shelly Beach in the Bay of Islands, New Zealand. I was with my family and Mum caught a flounder with a stick. I also went swimming with with dolphins about an hour out in the ocean. It was absolutely amazing. This photo is amazing; BMO/Carlsberg, don’t be shy now, you know you love it. I made friends with some cool peeps after the game. I was drinking on the Carlsberg tab at Brazen and checked out that bestmate.ca contest you told me about. Entered it. Not sure where I can see my profile? I also met a lovely babe from MAC at Rasputin Vodka Bar. Cool place. Looking forward to being better friends with MAC and Carlsberg.

all the things i said i said i would do before the sun came out and wanted me to enjoy it

Today, I am reminded of a poem I wrote in Australia. It was 7am, I was walking with my feet in the ocean on Bondi Beach. It was my favorite time of day. Peace, bliss, energy, sunlight ; it was freedom. This untitled poem is my most favorite one I’ve written, I think. There are so many! I’m in the process of picking my favorites so I can have a new book out later this year. Enjoy! As the waves crashed on the shore, the wind washed them away. And as I walked along the sand,I felt I could not stray. For I was walking towards the sun,and it was a brand new day.Casie Stewart 2004

I found something cool as I was looking for inspiration in photos of vintage girls. I came across this cool babe from Fullerton Vintage, a motorscooter shop in the OC. I have always wanted a scooter. I’d like if Dad could build something rad for me! My Dad builds hot rods and cool stuff.

Kickoff to Summer – GrillzJam

This weekend, Shark|Ninja invited us to the incredible home of Toronto based artist Charles Pachter for a kickoff to summer. Panoramic views, great people, and the centrepiece of it all – a Ninja Woodfire Outdoor Grill. They were also giving away custom grillz onsite from Cappd. I didn’t win a custom grill but I would really like to have this outdoor grill on our patio. Especially Sean lol. Had a great chat with Charles about his career and beautiful home, both a private residence and gallery museum. He purchased the lot 1996 and there was a Jewish funeral home in the back, “I really took a chance with this place when no one else wanted to“. It was nice to see friends and eat snacks on the rooftop, just as the sun was setting. I had so many laughs my face legit hurt. Loved exploring the art, glass elevator, studio, and multiple patios. I first visited this house in 2010 (see below) and to quote myself, “Honestly, the place is stunning. If you ever get to go there, go. Actually, find a reason.” When I saw the theme was ’70’s mod/cool’, I knew my outfit right away. This silky jumpsuit has been sitting in my closet for months and I was waiting for the perfect moment to bring her out. Thank you Cappd, Ninja Kitchen Canada, DM Public for a great time & Charles Pachter for having us in your home. All photos by Nick, bestoftoronto.net. Show some love to this post on Instagram here! FROM THE ARCHIVES: SEPTEMBER 13, 2010 👩🏼‍💻 According to the archives, I first visited this same home in 2010 for a Toronto Film Fest party. Reading old blog posts is such a trip. It’s like an old diary, written by you at some point, yet you don’t remember writing…

Speaking: AI’s Impact on The Travel Industry

Daydreaming at the White Lotus hotel in Maui…🪷☀️🌴 Daydreaming for real because I used photos, magic, & AI to go there! On May 22nd during Toronto Tech Week, I’m speaking on a panel about AI’s Impact on The Travel Industry. Look forward to sharing my thoughts about AI as a marketer & content creator. Details here. I was at the Social Next conference about a week ago and the whole theme was AI in marketing. I’m fired up for this travel talk, it’s gonna be a spicy conversation! AI & Content Creation Now, how did I make it look like I was in Maui using artificial intelligence and a green screen? No Gatekeeping! I started with an image of me on a green screen, grabbed photo from the Four Seasons Hotel in Maui website (where White Lotus S2 was filmed), then pasted myself on the balcony. I added a filter using InShot app to the entire image (me + balcony)to make it look more of a vibe and like it was actually taken that way. In order to make the landscape photo fit into a square for Instagram, I used a technique called ‘outpainting’ to fill in in the top and bottom of the image with AI. The app I used for this is called Photoleap, you can also do this in Photoshop using Generative Fill. It’s amazing what can be done, but is it cool or is it scary? What does this mean for content? Content creators? Brands? Travel companies? How can AI be used effectively for travel? If you’d like to learn more about AI or join to our talk about AI & the travel industry, register here. P.S. As I was checking the SEO for my post, looks like I can now use AI to write meta…

Allure Magazine – Hello Flawless!

Today I’m featured on Allure Magazine in an article by Beth Sobol about peoples love for beauty products that are now discontinued. For YEARS my go-to face makeup was ‘Hello Flawless‘ by Benefit Cosmetics. I never left home without it, ever. In the article I called it ‘Photoshop for your face’, it really was THAT GOOD. A couple years ago, I found it at a liquidation pop-up in Muskoka after being discontinued for years. Read my story, and a few from some die-hard beauty product fans on allure.com. Thanks Beth!

I Can See Clearly Now

This month started with the Solar Eclipse in Aries, right in the middle of Mercury Retrograde. I booked an astrology reading for the Aries Full and my fav astrologist, Kait Fowlie, gave me some things to think about and reminders that I’m on the right track. Toronto only had a partial eclipse but it was so wild to watch it happen! The sky went dark like nighttime but it was the middle of the day. I was outside for the whole event and did a cold plunge on the roof during the minutes of darkness. I’ve been focussed on my workouts lately, my weeks have been filled with yoga, pilates, running, weight training, and lots of long walks. I even started a tap class! I am very out of practise as it’s been 20+ years but it’s a super fun way to burn calories. I love it! My fav season (Taurus!) is just around the corner and my birthday is in a couple weeks. Here’s to seeing clearly and making my dreams come true!

Sailing in Bahamas 2024

I went sailing in Bahamas! Earlier this month I flew south to spend a week with mum on their boat in the Exuma, Bahamas. It was so beautiful! From the moment I saw that blue water I knew I was somewhere special! I flew from TO to Atlanta then landed at the Exuma airport on a sunny Friday afternoon. My driver was there waiting to deliver me to the parents in George Town, Bahamas. They picked me up and we took the. little dinghy over to their sailboat. The next day we sailed 4 hours to Lee Stocking Island to spend a few days in this stunning + remote location. It was stunning! We went to an island with iguanas and then to another island where we had the beach all to ourselves! Grateful for my friend Danica, designer of Bathing Belle swimsuits for hooking mum and I up with these GORGEOUS swimsuits. Every suit I wore on this trip was by Bathing Belle, her shop is is in Roncesvalles, Toronto and you should totally check it out. She’s got tons of prints & styles, you can get a custom suit, or have your suit adjusted to be the perfect fit. Highly recommend! I’ve posted about Bathing Belle before here.

Spring Isn’t Far Now!

In just a few days the sun will set at 7pm, and we’ll be one hour ahead. I can’t wait. Have been loving the sunshine and warmer temps lately. Spring isn’t far! Here’s a few things I’m Enjoying:

View Post

Flowers Will Bloom, So Will You

It feels like spring feels like it’s playing hide and seek, last week we had double digits temps and today we’re under a blanket of snow. There’s only 3 weeks before the time change and we’ll have brighter days. Good things come to those who wait, right? My workouts have become my go-to therapy. There’s nothing like a good sweat sesh to boost those endorphins and kick winter SAD to the curb. I’ve been hitting the gym, yoga & pilates classes, and lots of long walks outside. These moments of movement are like a burst of sunshine on a cloudy day. As I’m here hustling through the last stretch of winter, I’m to sending good vibes your way. Wherever you are, whatever you’re doing, know that warmer days are just around the corner. Spring might be playing hard to get, but we’re not backing down. Stay warm, stay active, and remember – the flowers will bloom, and so will you. 🌷✨💖
