It’s Election Day in Canada and we voted first thing this morning. Had a good day at work. Went for a bike ride after to get some movement and sunshine. The Harvest Moon is tonight and I’ve got a few things planned to summon the good vibes. I like to put a big jug of water outside to charge in the moonlight with my crystals. I usually have a nice bath with essential oils and set a few intentions. I always go outside on a full moon to make my 6 wishes (like Mum!) and say a mantra. It may seem silly but if it makes me feel good AND there’s a chance it helps bring good things my way, I’m here for it. If the moon can move the ocean, it can move me. ? Sending you good vibes and energy through the internet. I hope the next few months bring you heaps of joy. You have everything in you to create the life you want to live, go get it! ?
View PostEver be working from home and then wondering you have been talking to your self out loud or just in your head? I’m on hold with the OCS and it’s been over an hour. I’m watching the Y&R, making soup from scratch. I wonder if they can hear me I should have been on mute lol. I’m on mute now. Soup smells amazing,. I had a super day today. I feel like I can’t tell anyone but mum. It’s hard when you have exciting things that happen in your day and you want to just yell it out but you know it will seem a certain way so you keep quiet. The only person I usually tell is mum. Rung her 3x at work today and sent a text. I booked a speaking thing, an on-camera deal, a trip overseas, and a directing gig. We also had a great meeting for Occupied VR. This doesn’t happen every day but the great thing about working for yourself is celebrating when amazing things do happen. Today specifically, celebrating looks a lot like cooking in my jogging pants, putting away laundry, and catching up on the show. Some days it’s wine in the afternoon! In between the great days, there are days I don’t want to do anything or I cry and can’t leave the house. Balance is key. I find yoga really helps. DYK Amazon Prime has yoga shows. I like Yoga For Everyone because it’s fast and they have level variations. I am still on hold, it’s been so long now I feel like the music is part of my life soundtrack, I’m 10 years older. View PostThe last couple days have been so incredibly lovely. We’ve been staying with Catherine and having so many laughs. The first day we visited nana who was doing ok but she seem’s a bit better. My last update I was feeling super emotional, it was real talk. Happy to report I’m feeling much better now. I’ve been meeting up with cousins and getting to know my family and my heart is full of love. Yesterday we went to Himatangi Beach for a long walk and swim. IT WAS AMAAAAAZING. Both my mum and dad used to go there heaps growing up. My granddad used to have a beach house but I didn’t know which one so I don’t have a photo lol. I walked along with mum, and my cousins Alec (dad), Margot (his daughter), and their two little Scottie dogs. It was so much fun. They call them ‘doggos’! We ran up and down the beach playing with the pups and walking on water while the tide was out. After we stripped down to our togs (kiwi for bathing suit!) and body surfed in the ocean. That night Alec invited us over for dinner and we had a good kiwi bbq w/ salad, potatoes, steak, sausages, and wine. Lots of wine! Mum drove home lol. We all told stories around the table and laughed our heads off. We had more wine back at the house with my other cousins and I loved every minute of it. Doing a good job of making up for lost time while I’m here. Did a pop by and made dinner plans for my mum’s twin brother’s daughter and her family next week (another cousin party!). It’s personal, I’m usually asked in a crowded place, and it takes a while because I have heaps. Some have number significance, dates, travel, family, and there’s a couple I got for fun. Pizza anyone? I’ve partnered with Vintage Ink Wines to share my tattoo stories and introduce a contest for a new wine label design based on tattoos submitted by people like us. The tatted! Tattoo Tales: Stories Behind My Tattoos I got my first tattoo in Australia, the southern cross constellation between my shoulderblades. It was about 4pm and we were driving from from Bronte to Bondi beach with no plans so, my friend Cameron and I decided randomly to get tattooed. We both didn’t have any until that day! My next tattoo was 2 lines on my right hand ring finger, one blue one orange. The idea is derived from a personality test called True Colours. It used to be used in workplaces to break people into groups and pair them together based on personality for group cohesiveness. It was prevalent in my studies and I learned that in order to be my most successful self, a 50/50 mix between my true colours was ideal. Orange – outgoing, vibrant, strong vs. Blue, analytical, organized, list maker. I still find this tattoo a helpful reminder. Note, tattoos on the hands fade faster than any others. I’ve had it redone about 3 times in 10 years. I got this owl about 2 years ago. It’s on my right arm, like most of mine because I drew them all on with marker first. I’m left handed. View PostYou ready for vacation? This week we’re looking at Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. Yes, I like Pina Coladas. Currently browsing packages and flights to Punta Cana because I need to ditch this cold and soak up some sunshine! It feels like -30 in Toronto today! My sister went to Dominican a couple years ago and since I’ve been to a bunch of the surrounding islands (Cuba, Puerto Rico), so it’s on my destination list. One of the things I love about the Caribbean is the beautiful blue water. I adore being near the ocean and salt water on my skin. It’s also a great opportunity to practice my Spanish. Since I’ll be travelling alone, I don’t really have to speak to anyone if I don’t want to! One of the best things about going on a solo trip is plenty of time to do whatever you want and/or keep to yourself in silence. You might be thinking ‘but you are so outgoing!’, truth is, I really cherish my alone time and everyone needs to recharge their batteries. I’m one of those ‘outgoing introverts’ if you can believe it. Travelling alone is an excellent way to explore a new city or country. If you’ve never done it I HIGHLY recommend it. Does this not look wonderful? I’m looking to stay at a quiet resort without kids. I’d rather be amongst seniors than people on family vacation! During winter we all think about planning a getaway to somewhere sunny and warm. I’ve got posts ready to publish each Tuesday for the next few weeks taking you on adventures to popular travel destinations like Thailand, Australia, Costa Rica, Mexico, and more. So, if you’re sitting at your desk or hibernating inside you house, I invite you to come on a virtual vacation with me. I arrived in Bangkok and spent a few days there before heading to Chiang Mai. In Bangkok I visited the floating markets, ate on Khao San Road, and cruised around the streets picking up souvenirs. In Chiang Mai we rode bikes, visited some temples, night markets, saw a lady boy show, and experienced torrential rainfall. I also went to the Shangri-La here and it is FABULOUS. My most favourite places were Koh Tao and Koh Samui. Koh Samui is said to be the best place to go for relaxation after bustling days in the busy city centres of Thailand. It truly is a beautiful place. If you’re interested in visiting Koh Samui, you can learn more on this site about Bangkok Koh Samui. I also loved getting massages. For only a few USD/CAD you can get an hour massage. It was common for me to get more than one a day, so spoiled. Look at this pampering! Took a few days off and lazed around the house after Christmas chilling w/my family and Sean. I’ve been watching Hostages on Netflix this weekend and it’s about an attempt to assassinate the president. After about 8 eps it started to get a bit silly with so many twists and turns but I feel I can’t stop switching now. Dylan McDermot and Toni Colette are the leads and I really love her, she’s so versatile. The guy who played Jimmy Cooper on the OC too. My sister partied with McDermot in Dominican a few years back, they were at the Maxim Mansion opening. I’ve been thinking about the last year (as one does before NYE) and I’m planning to post a few of my most treasured moments. More on that starting Wednesday, New Years Eve. View PostThis week was a busy one. Stayed in last night. There were no cabs due to the rain so I picked Em up from school in a black Lincoln town car from Uber. I had a couple credits so it wasn’t that bad! She was totes excited and I then ordered takeout for dinner. Wednesday was the opening of Susur Lee’s new spot Luckee at the Soho Met hotel. [Susur Lee selfie] Fun opening, and the food I got around to trying was great. I need to go back for a sit down dinner. I’ve done a few things with Met hotels over the years (here + here) plus Community Agency did the Luckee branding so it was great to see lots of familiar faces since we’ve all been hibernating for months. Lauren and I met SANDY COHEN. If you follow me on any other social network you’ve probably seen this already. I loved the OC so much. We were there and Laguna last summer, so much fun. My ‘Celebrity Selfie’ collection is really growing. The Rudsak sample sale is on till Sunday. I’ve worn my new jacket and used my new bag on the daily day since I picked them out Wednesday. I’ll be spending six days next month in sunny California touring Disneyland, staying at THE Disneyland Hotel, and hanging out in the OC and LA with their tourism boards. It’s every girls dream come true! I’m hoping to recreate a photo of me with Mickey Mouse that was taken when I was a toddler. Mum, did you find that yet? These pix are from the Disneyland archives (via LA Times) and this little ticket is the first one ever sold. It’s been a while since I had a vacation and I can’t wait. View PostLast winter I visited Anamaya Resort for a yoga & surfing retreat in Costa Rica. It was heaven! A truly magical place. I am dying to go back there to the ocean and the jungle. Especially right now since it’s NOT EVEN WARM OUT YET! I just got sent this lovely video of us on the deck doing synchronized yoga with Joseph. I can’t tell you how WONDERFUL it was to do yoga here each morning and surf in the afternoon. View PostThere was a really beautiful sky last night. I love the view from our place. Living near the water is something I adore. I prefer the ocean but the lake is good too. Was recently sent a couple gift cards for Tim Horton’s so I could try out the new lattes. They were super nice to send a few extra so (I did a secret contest and) surprised a couple people with a gift. Tried the vanilla latte and it was ok. I reckon I prefer Tim’s regular coffee. So many memories as soon as I take a sip. Have you tried the Tim’s latte, what did you think? Going to Tim’s with Dad as a kid was one of my fav things to do on the weekends. He would always read the Toronto Sun. I remember we’d always check out the Sunshine Girl which is why I think I wanted to be one. Crazy that was over ten years ago. I think I look younger/better now. Gimme a donut meowwww! Boston creme is my fav treat from Tim Hortons. Next week I’m heading to Boston for a visit with friends. We drove to the ferry spot and sailed to Tortuga Island one of the most popular & beautiful beaches in Costa Rica. My stay here has been incredibly magical. View PostI’ve never gone on vacation alone to some place warm & relaxing. I’m filled with childlike excitement knowing all the things I can do here. I’ve decided to stay in Montezuma village one night this week and check out the Costa Rica Film Festival. Surfing & yoga today and a one day sailing trip to an island before Friday. I’m reminded a few things being here… I really love iPhone, life, sunshine, wifi, meeting new people and traveling. Had Skype video calls with Mum at home, Bob from Boston and KMS in Auckland to show them around Anamaya Resort from my iPhone. It’s like THE FUTURE is already here. My room is lovely. Currently downloading Crazy, Stupid, Love so I can fall asleep with my boyfriends Ryan Gossling and (Andy) iPad. Outside I hear all kinds of jungle sounds like monkeys and birds that remind me of a sleep app I have on iPad but realer. There’s a few voices speaking Spanish in the distance but it’s quiet compared to home. I sat in this hammock for a while today staring out into the ocean. It was magical. This resort is very well designed. Kudos to the owners & thank you for having me. One can only DREAM what it’s like to call this place your home. Even at night the infinity pool looks lovely. All that darkness is ocean meets sky. Everyone has dinner together which is really nice. I had salmon, beets and vegetables but they cater to everyones food allergies like gluten free and all those other ones (I’m clueless about!). Chilled in this area for a little while today too. There’s lots of space for everyone to hang out. I wonder if that TV has cable so I can watch the Y and R? Omg I just remembered I will be one week…

Inspiration is very important to me, if you’re here, you probably already know that. I’m feeling really inspired knowing that I’ll be in the ocean and hot weather next week. Got an email from someone yesterday who was in a class I spoke to at Centennial last year. As it turns out, she does PR for a really cool German luggage company and I’ll have a new RIMOWA suitcase tomorrow. I went to purchase one earlier this week and my card didn’t work for some reason, crazy how things work out, eh?! Tonight’s I’m attending the SS 2012 Swarovski preview at Jamie Kennedy in the Gardener Museum. I think it’s a 50/60’s theme dinner! Lauren and I did a sing along to this on the weekend. View PostIt’s been so beautiful out the last couple days.My week has been pretty chilled out which makes me reallllly happy. Everyone needs a break once in a while. I wasn’t outside for long yesterday but I did have a charming stroll in the sunshine mixed with a few short Bixi rides (thanks Telus). Was almost ‘unplugged’ all say Sunday while we watched a marathon of movies eating Chinese takeout. Perfect day if you ask me. So good to disconnect once in a while. I’ll be less connected next week but not offline. Decidedly detoxing right now (sugar, carbs, drinking lots of water) so I’m cleansed & ready for nine full days of surf, sun, sand and yoga starting this weekend. I booked a room in a 1920’s mansion turned hotel for my first night before I get to Anamaya Resort. Yeowwww. This is going to be me: My mouth is watering just thinking about fresh fish, bowls of fruit, salty skin and the smell of the ocean. The more I read about CR, I think I might fall in love. Pure love. View PostOffsite shows during FW are my fav. Attended Greta Constantine SS 2012 last night. One thing I love about FW is seeing all the fashion faces together. Last night felt less snobby than usual. It was nice. Pix from Greta SS 2011 are in this post. You’ll recognize lots of peeps from that show/party. I had come from a string of meetings & wasn’t really dressed for the ocassion: boots & scarf vintage, jacket Holts, bag Nella Bella, dress H&M.
