absolutely, a total need for something different

I’ve always been a little different. I when I little I would mix match the couple outfits Mum would lay out on the bed to wear and make my own. I wore two different socks one time, orange and green to match the shorts shirt combo. I remember it. A parent turned to Mum and said “You’re gonna let her go like that?” as Mum says, “If she feels confident like that then I’m not gonna stop her”. Thank you Mum. It’s important to be different. Mum made the dress I wore to the Notable TV party about 16 posts ago. The video of the party just came out, go watch it now! Julian talked about the the Notable brand in his toast (3:28) which is my favorite part after Raymi and I at 2:40. haha j.k. There are some cool smart young people featured on Notable TV and I like how Julian wants to give people something different. I think that’s important. I truly love the amount of motivation & determination amongst Generation Y in Toronto. There are some really cool things going on in this city. Makes me proud!

I wanted to wear the dress for ages. It’s so cute but short. Mum brought it back from the homeland a couple months ago. She made it when she was about 16 and Nana had it.  Raymi had this hat in her purse. Good one. I haven’t done a sneek attack like that in ages. I loved it. Recognize same face…haha. Lots of cool peeps were at the Notable TV party. We were all celebrating them being named Top 5 Emerging Digital Brands in Canada for 2009. Nice to see a bunch of bloggers. Love that too. Talia was looking hot! Her Sunshine girl photo is here. If you never saw mine from 2001, it’s here. I have a heap of photos from the night here.  Nice Raymi and Reado. Was a fun party. Marben is packed on Thursdays. It’s nice to run into so many familiar faces in one little local spot. Vaneska was DJ and the music was  rad. Danced a bit around the vodka table. Mostly chair dancing as not to spill drink, fall or get a bruise from the table. some of  the club clothes you were mentioning Before we went there was an unfortunate accident when I opened the freezer door and a vodka fell out and smashed on the clen kitchen floor. Smashed. Full bottle. SO accident prone. Got a battle would cleaning up the glass. Thank goodness boyscout had bandaids. Congrats to Julian and NotableTV. SO happy it’s the weekend. Staying way from Caribana crowds. I used to go when I was a teenager but I don’t like it anymore. Bring on the sunshine!

Was talking a little ‘break’ from my hard work day at the office. Getting shit done. I surfed some favorite blogs and checked Raymi‘s then popped over to Phil‘s. Caught this fun one he took of us at the Island.  Jenie and I always do the head throw back when we laugh really hard. haha. That was a fun day.  I miss beach living and surfing. I miss the waves. I’m taking a mini-vacay and visiting some friend in one of the oldest cities in the USA this weekend, BOSTON.  It’s my first time so I’m kinda excited. I’m excited for adventure and looking forward to airports. I love the airport. Inspires me to write and imagine stories.  If you know some stuff I should check out  or Boston hot spots, please tell me.

Part One: There’s been a big thing going on to save our Internet in Canada from regulation and big business control ling it I’m pretty sure I mentioned it during Net Change Week or Raymi speaking at the town hall meeting. Good news, Liberals announced support for Net Neutrality on Thursday, hopefully the rest will follow their lead. We all need access to the internet. Part Two: How you feel about yourself. That matters. I’m a positive girl , it’s a daily challenge but it’s more fun to be happy so I try each day. I’ve gotten pretty good at it. This week I’ve received a couple negative blog comments from a recent reader. It’s too bad that they find pleasure in leaving anonymous comments and have nothing better to do but type in my URL and take the time to press every key with bad intentions. The reality for the commenter that there is no such thing as anonymity if you post on a blogs. It is a bit annoying but mostly just dumb.  Having a blog is creating something new everyday, it’s a modern art form. On my blog,  I write about my stuff and take picture of me.  It’s very fun. I read a crazy article about a Canadian girl suing Google for negative remarks made about her on a Blogger (Google) hosted blog. “I’m tall, I’m blond, I’ve been modeling for many years, and people get jealous,” she told the Daily News. “If I had to deal with everyone who is jealous, I wouldn’t have time to do anything else.” Her lawyer called the site “libelous” and “defamatory.” The only way to really leave an anonymous comment, is to keep it to yourself. I had a stellar weekend. It was super sunny and I made the most of it. On Saturday I went to the island with Raymi , Phil and friends. Lots happening on the island on a lovely Saturday. There were heaps of kids in interesting costumes. I wanted to get close to take their photos but didn’t bother.  I’ll just keep those memories to myself. There’s  an art installation that plays music when you bike. We found it to be quite fun. The island it really pretty. I haven’t been for ages. Next time I’ll take my bike for sure. There’s a zillion photos from the whole day. This is the art work out, good thing Raymi got it on video so you can enjoy reliving the excitement. There’s more photos Raymi’s blog. She posted yesterday. I slacked off and made a nice dinner for friends and avoided the internet. The ferry ride back to the mainland is way more fun once you’ve spent the afternoon in the sun drinking beer. We all went back to my house for some pizza and swimming. It was great.

wow, you’re all so good looking

The other day I had a lovely evening with some of TO’s best bloggers.  I’m quite happy to be included in the best and would have been really pissed if I wasn’t.  Seriously.  It was really awesome to meet the other blog kids, most of whom I only know from le internet.  I was surprised to really see how different we all are. Each person brings to the mix a different perspective on life and a different creative process of putting it online through their blog. This is a pic of a few of them, you can see more of the Toronto local bloggers on Flickr. From left to right I have Vanessa from Vaneska.com, Ted Healy from Dead Robot, Sean Ward, Lisa Charleyboy from UrbanNativeGirlStuff, Raymi The Minx, and of course yours truly. We had Julian Brass of Notable TV there documenting the evening as we build Toronto’s first Top bloggers network. There is so much opportunity for advertisers to reach Toronto’s people through our blogs that get read by thousands of cool TO people and HEAPS of others around the world. A couple weeks ago I got together with some of the organizers behind the greatness that has now become the #genyto Meetups. After one month hiatus the meetup group is ready to rock on June 11 2009 at Pogue Mahone (Bay & College). This time it’s during NetChange week and is the official Thursday afterparty. These are the times I wish I was freelance so it didn’t matter what day of the week I planned a massive drink up. Urgh… I’ll be at NetChange on June 10 speaking about PR & Social Media for Charity etc. More detauls to come. Was quite honored when the founder of Redwire asked me to participate and speak about stuff I do. Tonight I join Toronto’s finest and funnest bloggers at the Spoke Club for a special meeting. Looking forward to it the drinks and hanging with babes like Sass & Raymi.  I’m stoked to meet some of the other top 12 in this fine city!! Ok, more Florida pix. Me in car and Miami Beach…at night.

something sweet in the air

Tonight I am meeting with the team of organizers for Pay it Backward day, which is on Saturday at 1pm. It’s going to be a fun Saturday afternoon! I hope to see lots of peeps out for a good cause and great fun. There are lots of sponsors and entertainment planned. Sign up on FB. I’ll be there, being myself and having fun of course. I wonder who’s bringing the Bailey‘s for my coffee? Or just anything sweet really. Saying that I would really love someone to bring a baileys anyway. I’d definitely love it if someone brought a Baileys Red Velvet drink for me to try. That would be very sweet. Although I guess I just have to wait and see what happens. Hopefully someone will see my hint about the baileys though! I am joking before anyone asks, it would just be a rather lovely thing for someone to bring! More importantly though, you should all make sure that you can come to the Pay it Backword day, it would mean so much so many people, so it’s really worthwhile doing. I can guarantee that it will be a fun Saturday afternoon! So bring your kids, bring you whole family and just be prepared to have fun! I know that I will certainly enjoy myself… particuarly if someone brings me some Baileys… Today is the birthday of my favorite Toronto Blogger, Raymi the Minx. If you don’t know her, you should. She is the best diarist and has the awards to prove it. I saw these cupcakes while I was getting groceries at lunch and captured them all to send through the Internet to Raymi and wish her a Happy 26th Birthday!

I’m sitting in the subway and find it very warm and awkward. I haven’t ridden this rocket in quite some time. Its full of people and glass and their ass on the glass in your damn face. Its weird for me. I never seem to mind if I’m with friends and chatting or after a few drinks. Then, you are not alone. Alas, I find myself between the glass and someone foreign and someone else in a suit. All the time, everyone glances around staring at ads for a therapist, a job, trouble with erectile dysfunction to which if you actually do need help with your flaccid penis, you might want to buy VigRX Plus male enhancement pills, all in between beautiful blondes and subway tracks. As I was writing this is got increasingly crowded and I somehow feel trapped, but comfortable. I noticed a girl with an olive green laptop bag branded “incase”. I like it. Bloor Street, chaos at in between the cars, empty, crowded, now moving. Two dudes are speaking a language I do not understand beside me and it is kinda loud in my ear and everyone can hear them. Sent from my BlackBerry device on the Rogers Wireless Network The focus group was all about Tylenol. I didn’t get chosen for the second hour, which I am grateful for. I gave my opinion and took my forty bucks. I’m back on the subway with a bottle of vodka and two new pairs of tights from Ardene cause I remember Raymi saying they had deals at the Yorkville shop so I checked. Just a little ride now and I’m home sweet home. Back downtown to have a toast and pass by Darren’s Snowboard party that Fathom is spinning at later then to StrangeLove. The subway is…
