Events | The Art of Entrepreneurship + The Art of Maintaining Violet Hair

This violet hair is awesome but it really fades fast. Checked out the bf’s new office space before heading to The Are of Entrepreneurship conference this morning. The day started with rain but before I knew it the sun was shining bright. Shared a few tweets with the one and only Gary Vaynerchuk before getting to the Metro Toronto Convention Centre. Looking forward to his talk this afternoon. I love listening to other speakers, it really helps me pick out things that make them great to remember for me own talks. The tents are being put up for World MasterCard Fashion Week already. It’s hard to believe it’s already that time of year again! I’ll be attending a few shows this season but don’t have anything mayor planned..yet. Loading Had a Kiwi @eatkanga pie for lunch and discovered @Charge_Spot. Awesome & innovative Canadian product. #meatpie #mobile #vscocam #tech *on the spot charging! SO AWESOME. View on Instagram Alrighty, time to head into the first after lunch session for The Art Of Entrepreneurship. Gary Vee is closing the day after Reddit co-founder  Alexis Ohanian. My fav class in high school was entrepreneurship and one of my highest marks. I took the Gr. 11 course in Gr. 10 and still had the highest mark in the class. I started a business called OUT THERE, Creative Advertising & Marketing.  It makes me smile that all these years later, creative advertising and marketing is still what I’m doing. 🙂 Hope you’re having a great day! <3 CASIE

Blog Life: This Is How We Do

You know face you make when you’re looking deep into the computer working away on something? It’s on  we all know well! This was me yesterday afternoon..and most days actually. Concentrating, editing, writing, coding, emailing, blogging, thinking, working, twerking. Ok, only sometimes on the last one! Went for a run this morning and pushed myself a bit harder. Feeling fresh and inspired. It’s so nice out, you should go outside. It was 21 at 9am! This is how we do! I’ve learned a lot of thing blogging the last (almost) 10 years. I can hardly believe it’s been so long. Persistence is a big part if making your dreams a reality. I thought about giving up a few times and doing something more traditional, like not keeping a diary of my life on the internet but each time I decide to go on, something amazing happens. This was a good little read: I’d Like to Be a Fashion Blogger, But I’m Mostly Wearing Sweatpants http://t.co/ZQnOVbqFTY via @thecoveted Thx for sharing @crystalgibson! — CASIE STEWART (@casiestewart) August 20, 2014 I’ve seen a ton of bloggers come and go over the years and I think that’s due the fact that people don’t realize how much work and energy it is. TBH, sometimes it’s totally exhausting! It also takes a time to build a brand, trust, a reputation, all which can be destroyed in an instant. I always remember this quote by Eleanor Roosevelt and think it’s best to surround your self with great minds. “Great minds discuss ideas; average minds discuss events; small minds discuss people.” I’ve always counted on Mum to be my first phone when something exciting happens instead of telling friends or the world right away. She can always tell when i’s something big. I’ll ring her at work and say ‘OMG Mum, guess what?!”.…

Inspiration via Jasmine: Do What You F****** Love

Here I am once again starting the day near the END OF MARCH in my winter jacket. It was a good buy from NastyGal BUT Urgh! PUT ON A HAPPY FACE! Loving these little J Shoes, I have red ones too but they haven’t come out to play yet. It’s too cold. They want a nice day. I’m not one to swear much (Mum hates reading bad words on the blog), but I absolutely love these type images from Jasmine Dowling. She’s a 21 year old graphic designer from Australia. I discovered her via Instagram and I’d like to get a print for our house. They are so positive and happy. The ‘do what you f****** love’ one is special to me because 9 years ago (in April) I started this blog because I love to write, share, take photos, and I wanted to keep a diary. I never knew where it would take me or really thought about it at the time. Since 2005, I’ve done things I only ever imagined! Let this post be a reminder to DO WHAT YOU LOVE. You’ll find a way to make money doing it if you believe in yourself and work hard. Check out Jasmine’s work + store at jasminedowling.com and see some of my favs below. In other news… RYAN GOSLING ARRIVED FOR ME TODAY! I need to find somewhere spcial to wear this baby out. Maybe I’ll wear it everyday? Wouldn’t you want Ryan Gosling all over you? Hopefully Sean doesn’t steal it because it really is that awesome. 🙂 Enjoy the day! <3 CASIE

WMCFW | Shows, Street Style, Something Different

Last night kicked off World MasterCard Fashion Week in TO. It’s always fun seeing everyone show up and it feels like the first day back at school seeing all your fashion friends in one place. I started my evening at The Shore Club for the preview of Piloti by StyleBox. Especially loved the carnivore Club box of meats in the gift bag. You can bet Sean was happy when I arrived home with that, ha! #PilotiFW14 preview w/ @piloti. Rolls out in Canada/US/UK July 2014. #WMCFW pic.twitter.com/GbZaBxgvu2 — CASIE STEWART (@casiestewart) March 17, 2014 Highlights from WMCFW Day 1 WMCFW Street Style Day 1 I absolutely LOVE Line Knitwear.  It’s hard not to really. The colours and angora in this collection makes me want to wear everything at once. My old friend Natalie used to be roomies with John Muscat of Line Knitwear back when I first moved to Toronto, I wasn’t really in the fashion scene back. That reminds me, I have a gorgeous Line blazer I really need to bust out when the weather warms up, if it ever does! Urghhhhh! Line Knitwear WMCFW FW14 One of the cool things I saw at VAWK was Sunny Fong partnered with the Alleles,  winners of the Design Exchange’s recent Emerging Designer competition. They specialize in intricate covers for leg prosthetics and it was the first time I’d seen something like this on the runway!  (Photo via BlogTO read more here.) Can’t believe that @Jeanne_Beker just saw one of our prosthetic covers on the @VAWK runway @WMCFashionWeek…SO COOL!!!! — the Alleles (@the_Alleles) March 17, 2014 I won’t be at the tents tonight as I’m meeting the Cuisinart crew to plan our next episode. I can’t wait to get my hands on a juicer! I’ll be back tomorrow for Pink Tartan and Joe Fresh sharing what’s…

Whatever Weather

I can’t believe I’m wearing winter clothes in June. Hardly rode my bike the last few weeks cause we’ve had so much rain and it’s been chilly. Just finished from a haircut at Evolve Hair Studio with Sonya. This sweater was a gift from kiwi designer Adrian Hailwood during NZ Fashion Week in 2010 when I was a VIP guest. On the bright side, since this is the first summer I’ve worked full time in over two years, I don’t really mind the weather. I can only imagine how hard it will be to gaze out the window when it’s super sunny and warm. Hope the day is treating you well 🙂 CASIE Posted from WordPress for Android on my HTC One

My Boston Marathon 2013

* Note – I wrote this yesterday before the bombings happened in Boston. I was there all weekend. Thought I shoudl do a little update so I didn’t seem insensitive or something. It’s really horrible what happened. A friend shared this really great article in The Atlantic about the whole thing and I share it with you. “We actually have all the power here, and there’s one thing we can do to render terrorism ineffective: Refuse to be terrorized. It’s hard to do, because terrorism is designed precisely to scare people — far out of proportion to its actual danger. A huge amount of research on fear and the brain teaches us that we exaggerate threats that are rare, spectacular, immediate, random — in this case involving an innocent child — senseless, horrific and graphic. Terrorism pushes all of our fear buttons, really hard, and we overreact. But our brains are fooling us. Even though this will be in the news for weeks, we should recognize this for what it is: a rare event. That’s the very definition of news: something that is unusual — in this case, something that almost never happens. “  Read the full article here ORIGINAL POST from April 15th, 2013 12:30pm The actual Boston Marathon is today and I know a few people in it. I’m not much of a marathon runner (yet) but my weekend in Beantown was somewhat of a marathon too. We had an awesome time! I wish I was there longer to check out more sights and do more things. We’re already planning to visit again in this summer. Hugest thank you to my friends there for taking us around and showing us an amazing time. Feeling refreshed and ready for a great week! Make it a great one 🙂 [View the story “Toronto > Boston >…

IF YOU’RE AWESOME & YOU KNOW IT CLAP YOUR HANDS

Oh heyyyy there you, life, blog, friends! It’s Friday morning and I was up super early. Working on that doc I mentioned today. Had awesome meeting last night with some of my team for upcoming project and was so inspired I found it hard to sleep (aka got lost in Pinterest. Sigh). There’s so much going on all the time I’ve been feeling a bit overwhelmed with that fact that all kind of things I’ve wished for and worked towards are actually happening. It makes me nervous excited which is in fact, my most favourite feeling. Ever. Let’s start the day with this Tweet and let it carry you. #FF via blog for Rayanne; She is awesome and you know it, clap your hands! 🙂 If you’re bored, then you’re boring. — Rayanne Langdon (@rlangdon) March 30, 2012 Thanks Becca for this snap of Morgan and I from Brock’s showcase during Canadian Music Week last weekend. I believe those boys are at the Juno’s this weekend. If you’re not from Canada you might not know what the Juno’s are. We’re pretty good at making music in the Great White North. Popped by Diesel’s flagship shop for the Spring/Summer 2012 preview event the other night hosted by Flare and LOULOU mags. Hung out with blog friends, looked at clothes. Had my hair done just before, thanks Darren. Drinks were non-alcoholic which was refreshing. Going to a zillion events all the time is tiring and dehydrating. I appreciated the short event and fresh juice. Drink more water. Look at this handsome afro man, Babe Lincoln: These are a few of my fav items. They’ve got a pastel mint leather jacket that I would love to own (hint hint). I’ve not been a big wearer of Diesel since highschool but there was a bunch of things I could…

made a milkshake, now all the boys are in my yard.

Today I went to the Globe & Mail to chat a friend on the roof patio. Real nice up there. Stephen has a session at NXNE Interactive titled ‘How to Grow Your User Base!” and it just might include me. Check it out here or NXNEi Friday at noon. It was very serious. Look at this form. I work hard at everything I do. Left a note in Lina’s office & said hello to a few others in the G&M haus. Picked up my NXNE wristband. This is the media room. I had to charge my phone. Then I saw the Australian, he got asked what band he’s in. Haha. So cute. Cruised Queen Street, got a new Vice mag, picked up Chippy’s & went to Bellwoods. They actually HAD the halibut this time. Can you believe it? They are ALWAYS out. It was so hot & lovely out. Had the perfect outfit for tanning, loose shorts & tube top. Post lunch got a  haircut and guess what? Teacher also goes to Darrek Kwik Studio & he was THERE. It was such a busy day. I zipped outta the salon, walked to Liberty Village and went to School. They were having a summer BBQ and I had an awesome free dinner with a bunch of friends. Thanks guys! Food was grrrrrrrrrreat. Ok bye. I’ve heading to the NXNE Opening Gala then to see Tiny Danza at Cobra w/ Z-List. Hope it’s not too much of a late one. Busy day tomorrow too. Gah.

up up here we go where we stop nobody knows

jamming to this right now, play it if you got sound or you feel like jammin’ too… I was laughing in this photo. I had noticed after a couple camera snaps there was a few people looking. I saw someone turn their eyes back to the road and they were smiling. It made me smile. I love taking so many photos, I feel like a tourist every day in this awesome city. Wore my docs again today. Man, I really forgot how confortable they are. I got them in the summer from the Doc Marten store on Queen Street. They are the Triumph style and She Does the City wrote about them being the awesomest boot ever. Didn’t even know that when I got ’em. WIN! Today for the first time I noticed a street sign in Union Station for Brookfield Place. It reminded be of this legendary brand new appartment building I lived in at 15 Brickfield Street in Sydney Australia back in 2004. Well to be honest with you, it was a suberb of Sydney called Paramatta. Spent about 20 min just now Google map-walking around the streets. After Paramatta for a couple months I ditched that place and moved to Bondi Beach. It’s beautiful there…ah, memories. This made the front of all the city’s papers today I’m sure. When I saw the caption “love you forever” it only reminded me of the book by Robert Munsch and Mum reading it to me. It was my fav growing up. Miss you Mum. Nice chatting on Skype today ♥ I hardly read the Metro. It’s quite a ‘subway’ thing for me. I saw this little ditty with Tweets  about chosing a job you love.  I worked real hard to get here. That’s what it takes.  It’s not easy but…

break. it down. give thanks. rest. love it. smile.

“Be careful what you wish for” Mum said to me today as I was chatting her about what I’m up to. She called via Skype from the boat on the East Coast of Canada. Been a couple days since we last taked. Before she went on her sailing trip we used to chat almost daily. I would fill her on on what I’m up to. She inspires me, always has. I miss her.  Everything I’m doing r I always wanteight now… the parties, the makeup the hair the clothes. It’s all new to me.  I always wanted to be doing this stuff. Mum says luck is where preperation meets opportunity. I feel grateful. I’ve worked my ass off the last few years. I arrived in Toronto five years ago post uni in Australia. Back then, I didn’t know exactly what I wanted to do. I just did it. I believed in myself and I worked hard at whatever it was I was doing. When I was younger I used to say I wanted to be really well known for being good at something, I wasn’t sure what it was yet.  Maybe I still don’t? Either way, I have always been determined. When I really want to do something there is little to no stopping me. Mum will for SURE tell you that. I want to interview her one day so you can meet her.  She’s not been able to read my blog much from the boat, she usually reads it daily to see what I’m up to. She said it makes her happy. It makes me happy too. I love looking back on what I was doing previous years, same time.  Makes me dream big about what I might be doing next year. Quite looking forward to the long  flight…

downtown where the hippies all go

Met a friend early for coffee, planning awesomism for 2011. Can you believe 2012 is just over a year away? Go live up your life man, might be over soon. Got my hair done, back to blonde roots and trim. I love hair done day, Darren Kwik is my stylist. He is really good and he gives great style. He told me the other day that a girl came in and asked for “the Casie Stewart”. Love it. Let’s start an army, bloundetourage style. Posting this via WordPress Mobile on Motorola Backflip from Telus. This phone is pretty rad, good photos, love the apps, have all my accounts hooked up so I stay connected. Big thanks to Telus and Motorola, I’ve been on the network since March and as a Telus first timer, I’m happy. I’ve been typing this walking up Queen Street West and hardly looking up. Just about got clothes lined by a window washer lady with a bucket.  Suck it, I vacuumed earlier with the new unit. It’s nice. There are lots of babes in this city, eh? Girls and Boys, we are a stylish bunch Toronto. Yes we are. 11 days till NZFW. omg. the pressure is setting in!
