How I Keep My Summer Tan!‚ėÄÔłŹ

I love summer, vacation, being outside, boating, the cottage, and heaps of sunshine.  I do not however like the idea of getting old leathery skin from sitting outside under UV and you could not pay me to use a tanning bed. (I did that heaps when I was a teenager, wtf was I thinking?) I wear sunblock on my face all year, my favs are Clinique and Laura Mercier but also love having a nice tan.

Sophie, the legend!

A couple years ago I went to Hammam Spa and got a body scrub + spray tan and I loved it but was pretty expensive and not something I can do all the time. A bit after that I went to a TIFF event where they had St. Tropez and I got a personalized tan sprayed on by their expert and totally kick-ass babe, Sophie Evans. She is super rad & has tanned heaps of celebs including Lady Gaga, Britney, and Kim K. At the start of summer 2018, I had the opportunity to be tanned my Sophie again!

I love the way St. Tropez looks, not orangey, streaky, or sticky, and you can do it at home by yourself. I’ve been using it religiously the last couple years before trips, after trips, winter, spring, all damn year. It’s THE BEST self-tan I’ve ever used.¬†

St. Tropez Tan – My Picks

The original foam is my favourite but the new Ultra Dark is great if you already have tanned skin. The Bronzing Water face spray is nice to use daily to maintain and give yourself a light glow.

The Everyday Tinted Moisturizer + Primer is great for events if you want to give your face/legs/arms/body/decolletage a nice glow.

Some great tips in this video from Sophie & St. Tropez about applying on yourself at home.

I love a healthy glow and have been using St. Tropez tan for the past few years.

Sassoon Style: Summer Wedding Season

Sassoon Style: Summer Wedding Season

Last week I stopped by Sassoon Toronto for my regular trim. My hair is lower maintenance since I opted for highlights last month instead of full bleach & tone. I really like what’s going on with my two-tone hair, it’s still blonde, has some texture, and is my natural colour at the back.

For my touch-up cuts in between colour, I’ve been seeing Tricia for a quick¬†trim. She usually does a few snips while the hair is wet, then does scissor-over-comb (SOC) while my hair is dry to finish off the¬†look.¬†It’s amazing how a quick trim makes you feel so refreshed!¬†

Summer Wedding Hair Tips from Sassoon Toronto

I love summer and wedding season is the perfect chance to get all dolled up. I would wear this dress to every wedding this summer, it makes me feel great and always gets compliments. It’s my¬†‘feel good’ dress of¬†Summer 2018! I chatted with Tricia about the perfect summer wedding hair and got a few tips from Sassoon Salon‚Äôs creative directors Lorraine McAndrew and Wesley Hanlon.

Keep it fresh
Tricia’s reco¬†is to get a fresh haircut/trim/colour touch-up one week before the big day. If you have short hair like me,¬†opt for a blow-dry on the day of. A professional just has the magic touch to¬†give your hair some OOMPH.

Hot Tip: For added shine ask for a personalized in-salon Kerastase Fusio-Dose treatment.

¬†‚ÄúShine is key for ensuring your hair looks healthy from every angle,‚ÄĚ
– Lorraine McAndrew, Sassoon Salon senior creative director

Styling Requirements
If you’re going for a braid or pretty up-do, your hair should be clean, but DO NOT wash it the day of the event. Wash the night before to keep your hair‚Äôs natural oils intact, you’ll be able to count those curls, waves, or up-dos holding better and looking great in photos.

Less is more
Want to look modern and elegant? Keep it simple, don’t over style!

Wedding Day Tool Kit
I always carry a small bag with a few beauty must-haves for big events or a wedding. I love Dior or Mac lipstick, Hello Flawless Powder by Benefit, bobby pins, and tiny rubber elastics. If you’re rocking a fancy hairstyle that took some work, pop Sebastian Shaper Plus mini hairspray in your bag.

SIDE NOTE – The team at Sassoon Salon are so great. I’ve been going there for almost 2 years now and I look forward to every visit. I spend half the time laughing and talking like we’re old friends. If you’re looking for a new look or someone to really take care of your hair, I highly recommend making an appointment.

Hope you had an amazing weekend. Here’s to a great week!

Sending you Sunshine!

Spring Style: Highlights are BACK!

Yesterday I went to Sassoon Toronto for a much overdue hair appt! That was all me, I’d been delaying getting a cut to let it grow a bit longer and give me more roots. I am growing it out from shaving my head last summer.

I met with Kim & Tricia, who I like to call the blonde dream team! I interviewed Kim a couple month ago about taking care of your hair, see that post here. She is a blonde WIZARD.

This visit, I asked her what’s trending for hair right now and she said that looks for cut and colour are going back to basics, classic looks, freehand painting. They’re doing more highlighted looks but instead of the traditional highlights¬†(we all had as teenagers), the sections are more interesting, geometrical.

As a blonde, highlights take a little longer to do but the colour process is quicker than full bleach, also not as hard on your hair. Kim did mine in a sideswipe diagonal at the front and it was cool to watch.

casie stewart, blogger, fashion, style, sassoon toronto, highlights

Kim told me balayage is still popular, given it is super low maintenance. Something to remember is it takes precision to have your hair done well, highlights should line up and balayage takes specific painting skills.

I love the Sassoon SS18 Collection images. Check them out here for inspiration. I especially love the image below with the pink background, swoon.

‚ÄúSassoon plays with natural hair by enhancing the beauty of original texture, functionality and colour in the hair. This season, Sassoon is manipulating the form of hair by utilizing classic techniques from the inside out, literally, changing the look of hair by looking from within.‚ÄĚ

Lorraine McAndrew, Toronto Senior Creative Director

sassoon ss18, sassoon toronto, casie stewart,

Tricia finished with my haircut, leaving the little bits on the side and not taking too much off the top. She does a bit when it’s wet then does a dry cut, scissor over comb. Love it!

UPDATE: 2 Days Later

Why does your hair always feel so great a few days after it’s cut?! Below is after 1 wash and 2 days, sleeping on it, then wearing a hat to the watch the Royal Wedding for a couple hours. I love it.

I’ve been using¬†Davines MORE INSIDE Sea Salt Spray¬†(at Sassoon’s reco!) which is a step fancier than what I had before, and I see why. It’s awesome. Trying to wash not my hair every single day (but still shower lol) and this makes it look messy but tamed.¬†

If you’re looking for a great salon, skilled artists, or a new look, go to Sassoon Toronto! They’re so nice and I’ve never been happier with my hair. Tell them I sent you!

HAPPY LONG WEEEEEEEEKEND!

I tried those magnetic lashes!

I tried those magnetic lashes!

The other day I went to a media preview and they were putting¬†magnetic lashes on everyone! I wasn’t planning to blog about this but they were really cool and I thought you might want to know. I tried taking them off and putting them on again and they’re pretty easy. For the record,¬†I’m used to putting on my own lashes.¬†The ones we tried are Ardell and you can find them at Rexall, Walmart, or right here on Amazon for $26. You can use¬†them about 15 times so that’s a pretty great deal.

The ones I got¬†were a bit long,¬† so I trimmed the inside a little. You can see the before in the photo above if you look close, but don’t look too close. haha!

How To Magnetic Lash

  1. Put on a coat of mascara
  2. Layer the top lash on your own lashes
  3. Put the bottom lash along the bottom of your lashes
  4. Voila, they snap together with magnets!

I reckon it would be helpful to use some type of plastic tweezer (like these) to place them on the lashes. You obvs can’t use metal tweezers bc of the magnets. I tried!¬†

Thanks Overcat Communications for the lash hookup! I wore them for a shoot yesterday and they were great.

Sassoon 2018 + Winter Hair Care Tips

Sassoon 2018 + Winter Hair Care Tips

You’d be surprised if you touched my hair, it feels like a little baby bunny it’s so damn soft. I do get it cut quite often but that doesn’t take away from the fact that I bleach/tone it every few weeks. Bleach is especially hard on your hair and so is the long dry winter.

We’ve got about 6 weeks left of this cold so if you haven’t been taking winter precautions to protect your hair, start now!

The other day I had my first¬†2018 appointment at Sassoon Toronto. You will remember¬†from last year I partnered with them for cut/colour which was totally awesome.¬†I’ve never had such great attention¬†paid¬†to my short, yet very high maintenance locks. Kim does an amazing job on my blonde and Jason cuts it just enough with perfect precision every single time.

Tips for Winter Hair Care

I chatted w/ Sassoon to get the low down on how to make¬†sure your hair doesn’t get the winter blues.

  • Pamper.¬†Sassoon offers a range of Kerastase Fusio-Dose customized hair treatments. They apply a tailored treatment to my hair each time I visit.¬†
  • Protect.¬†It’s important to use something on your hair to protect it from heat treatment. Use a blowdryer, you might be damaging your hair! Apply a thermo protection cream like the Kerastase Nutritive Nectar Thermique. It’s made for dry hair and soft enough for you to use daily. You can also give your hair some TLC w/ the Kerastase Nutritive Masquintense once a week.
  • Trim. This is my secret to having soft hair. Since mine is short I get it cut a lot.¬† Regular maintenance trims split ends and keep your hair from becoming rough and dull. Sassoon recommends a trim every 5 weeks (4 weeks for short hair).
  • Be gentle.¬† Dry your hair before you leave the house, if you go outside in freezing cold air with wet hair,¬†well, you’re looking for disaster. Blow-dry gently using a wide-tooth comb or small paddle brush.
  • Don‚Äôt overwash. I am guilty of this but my fine hair is super short. I am envious of people¬†with long thick hair who do the recommended¬†wash only 2-3 times a week.¬† Washing your hair less maintain natural nourishing oils in the hair and keeps it nice and smooth.¬†

Products used on my hair at this appointment.

I’m heading¬†back to Sassoon for a full colour in about a week and looking forward to it. if you are looking for a new salon or a fresh look. I’d be happy to connect you to my peeps. Feel free to get in touch and I’ll hook you up w/ my special discount!

I’ve Got No Roots, But My Home Was Never on the Ground

I’ve Got No Roots, But My Home Was Never on the Ground

People often think short hair is low¬†maintenance, it’s not. I¬† mean it’s quick in the morning on a daily basis but this short blonde hair is totally high maintenance.¬†Through my partnership with Sassoon this year, I’ve had regular salon¬†trips to trim my hairline and bleach + tone touchups every 6 weeks or so.

The crazy thing¬†is, I’m almost always just between having it cut or needing a cut. I wouldn’t change it though, this short blonde hair is something that makes me unique, stand out, feel good, I love it.

I really love getting my hair done at Sassoon Toronto. Kimberly, who does my blonde is hilarious and I would love to have beers with her. She is also blonde, same age, has a beardy BF, and incredibly good at getting the perfect blonde.

Last week 2 things happened that were super great but stressful. One, I learned never to change my blonde and two, was in a commercial¬†shot¬†by 1188 (Sean’s company!).

At my Tuesday hair appointment, I told Kim that I wanted to go ash blonde. A little more ashy¬†blonde, this on someone with long hair isn’t that big of a change. On short blonde, it is major. My hair is normally¬†the¬†‘Baby Blonde’ you see below, ash is the light blonde in the bottom¬†right. Big difference!

SO, Kimberly did what I asked and gave me a beautiful¬†ash blonde. When I sat up from¬†having the colour washed, I was like WHOA. No. Omg no.¬†I didn’t like it. To anyone else, it was a¬†cool ash blonde but to me, I looked like someone with brown hair! I don’t know what I was thinking changing my look. I’m never doing it again, and the week of a shoot fml. The team at Sassoon, especially Kimberly were so cool about it and we¬†gave it a special rinse/wash with a product called ‘Malibu‘. It helps to rinse out the toner that made the bleach blonde turn to ash.

After I came home Sean said I looked different and I wasn’t happy with how I looked. I ended up texting the head colourist at Sassoon and making an appt for the next day at 9:30am. I woke up early the next day and bought a ton of pastries¬†from the Portuguese bakery before¬†yoga. After class, I went to my appt offering Kimberly a couple big boxes of croissants & egg tarts as a peace offering for having to come back/being annoying. Never hurts to be kind!

It wasn’t long before I left the salon with a beautiful white nordic blonde I’m used to. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

The title is a lyric from this video. Watched it for the first time when I posted this. After directing a music video this summer I look at things like this differently. I know she probably sang the song at a slow pace to get a specific frame rate that gives it a soft/slow feeling but she sings at the right pace in the video. I learned a lot shooting this w/ Jillea.

This week I’m directing a real estate shoot for a commercial and series of social ads. I love this type of work the most.

Enjoy!

Interview w/ Sassoon Toronto’s Kimberly Wallace + #SassoonStyle Giveaway!

I’m sitting at Sassoon interviewing Kimberly Wallace while she does my hair. I’ve been coming to Sassoon since the start of 2017 and she’s my favourite colourist here. I’ve been following her on Instagram so we instantly start talking about the event I was at last night, her¬†changing hair colours, and all the time I’ve spent at the cottage this summer. Safe to say there are lots of laughs and good chats every single time we’re together.¬†I asked Kimberly a few questions about trends and tips to keep your hair healthy and happy.

casiestewart, sassoon, sassoon toronto, sassoonstyle, mysassoon, contest, beauty, giveaway

Interview w/ Sassoon Colorist: Kimberly Wallace

What type of shampoo/conditioner do you recommend for my type of hair and why?

Colour safe shampoo ex Kerastase¬†Chroma Riche, because it’s for colour treated or highlighted hair. Great for blondes!

What are trends you see for hair and beauty this summer?

I’m finding that lived-in colour, balayage, ombre, are very popular. ¬†Looks that are low maintenance. That way, you can feel like your hair is sunkissed but you don’t have to come into the salon every 4-6 weeks.

What is one hair tip that I can share with the world?

Be realistic with your hair goals. For example, if you have thick dark hair like Kim Kardashian and you want to go blonde in an afternoon, it’s not going to happen in one session. Or asking for pink hair but have brown colour, that’s not going to happen in one session either.

Another thing to note is pastel colours are great but they only last two weeks. Instagram filters and editing can be deceiving, what you see isn’t always what’s real!

(We chatted about how the Instagram is sometimes a web of lies, don’t believe everything you see on IG!)

Being blonde is a full time job!

A post shared by Kim Kardashian West (@kimkardashian) on

What is the best way to protect colour?

I recommend using heat protects if you’re blow-drying your hair. They really help to preserve your colour and protect the condition of your hair. (See Kerastase¬†Mask or¬†Chroma Captive Colour Radiance Protecting Shampoo)

Name one product that is underrated that I should implement into my daily routine?

Dry texture spray – I love it! (Kerastase Couture Styling Spray)

Name one hair care ‚Äúdo‚ÄĚ and one hair care ‚Äúdon‚Äôt‚ÄĚ

Do Рheat protect! Especially for colour treated hair.

Don’t – wash your hair too much! The more you wash the more your colour is going to fade. Especially for pastel tones, ¬†they’re pretty but only last 2 weeks.¬†

People always say ‘your hair must be so easy‘ but what they don’t think about is how high maintenance (and expensive!) short blonde hair is. I get my hair cut about every two weeks and colour every 4 weeks. It’s such a relief (srsly!) to have a salon partner like Sassoon, they’re great at keeping my colour fresh, enriching my hair with treatments, and keeping my look kinda edgy.

Thanks Sassoon for keeping me looking and feeling fabulous! Sassoon is located in Yorkville on Scollard Street and they’d love to have you in. I recommend Kimberly for colour and Jason Kwan for cut, he’s a wizard!!

6 Tips for Spring Cleaning Your Lifestyle

Over the last few¬†months I’ve been on a journey to take better care of myself. I feel better on the outside and inside, with more energy, and I’m less hard on myself.

Every spring I do a big clean on the house but I never really thought about cleansing myself? I’m getting rid of old habits, old friends, old thoughts, and setting new intentions. This year is different!

NEW YEAR, NEW ME

Here’s a few tips I’ve discovered¬†that have helped me feel happy¬†and healthy. I’m making this year a great¬†one by making small changes in my lifestyle. ¬†

    1. Exercise

You don’t have to go hardcore but it’s really important to be active and exercise. I’ve open to trying just about any workout and last week I did Function 45, that is a hardcore 45minute circuit workout. I’m planning t give it a go for 2 weeks to kick my summer bod into high gear. I’ve been going to yoga 3-4 times a week since the end of January which I find calms my mind and has started to lean out my bod while making me stronger.

    2. Drink Heaps of Water

An old tip but a really good one. More water will energize you, help your skin, and it helps me snack a little less. After my LA trip in January, I saw a bunch of girls at yoga with the Bkr water bottles and I ordered on on Amazon right away. I take it with me everywhere now and I find I drink heaps more water.

    3. Get a Dentist to Check Your Teeth

It had been a LONG time since I went to the dentist. When I finally went, my teeth looked good and I felt great. YAY ADULTING.

I had braces in high school so (my parents) spent a lot of money and I spent¬†a lot of time in a dental chair, I don’t want any of that to go to waste. I’d had a little tiny stain in the front of my teeth for years and in one recent visit, my dentist got rid¬†of it.

Regular dental appointments will save you $$$ in the long run. You only have one set of teeth and it’s really important you take care of them. Make a priority to visit your local dentist or if you were like me and didn’t have one, find a new one¬†at ¬†youroralhealth.ca/yourteethareworthit.

    4. Get a Fresh Cut

Since my hair is super short I get a cut A LOT. However, a fresh cut or shave can do wonders for your self-confidence, positive attitude, and personal style. I recently cut my hair super short again and I FEEL FAB-U-LOUS. I’ve been going to Sassoon Toronto in Yorkville and¬†they do a killer blonde.

    5. SLEEP

Something I’ve been really working on it going to bed at a reasonable hour. For years I would sit up late and work away on the blog or client things and I’d be¬†exhausted. So, instead of lazy eyelids or falling sleep on the couch, I stop and go to bed. You are only one human and there are only so many hours in a day. Go easy on yourself, you need sleep.

    6. Watch What You Eat

I don’t claim¬†to be a health nut¬†but I’ve been trying to eat healthier. I recommend keeping healthy snacks on hand and in your purse at all times. Cut your portions in half. Save¬†it for later!¬†It’s ok to eat a burger and fries or have a beer but not at every meal or every day. Moderation is key.¬†

Just think how great you’ll feel after doing yoga, going to the dentist, a healthy lunch, a haircut, and heaps of water! You’ll be ready for a great sleep knowing you fed your body and mind really well.

Here’s to a healthy and happy week!

Water bottles Are So 2003!

Water bottles Are So 2003!

Carrying water bottles is so 2003! They’ve¬†been banned at Hong Kong Uni, Adele concerts, and for all of San Francisco. I’ve stopped buying bottled water since getting my new Bkr water bottle, but now, there’s a new way to save our planet…

I’ve always been a fan of Paris Hilton and along with SodaStream she¬†created the¬†Paris Hilton Institute for Plastic Pollution Solutions¬†who developed NanoDrop. Cute, right?

A revolutionary scientific achievement, a¬†highly condensed form of water that is 5,000 times more hydrating than regular water.”

One little drop is equal to 1 glass of water.

Say whaaaaa?

“This is the¬†beginning of a new era for humans, sea turtles, oceans, and all other living creatures on the planet.”

Ok, so if this¬†seems a *bit* far fetched you’re right,¬†NanoDrop is not a real product. Did you check the calendar today? heh heh ūüėú

However, the water bottle crisis is totally real and Paris Hilton is serious about saving the planet. She’s also a big fan of SodaStream and if you saw my IG story this week, I just got¬†one!

We’ve wanted a SodaStream¬† for a while and I’m so happy to welcome it into our home. It takes 2 seconds to turn tap water into carbonated water and I can’t wait to start experimenting with flavours.

We’ll be totally cutting out¬†sparkling water purchases at home and in the office.

STAY HYDRATED BB!

The other day we drove past the BITE Lip Lab on Queen, it was snowing, and there was this gorgeous man standing in the window. I stared at him and then I was like ‘omg I know him, that’s¬†Christopher!’. Hadn’t seen him in forever, sent him a FB, then he invited me in to make a custom lipstick.

I’d like you to meet my first BITE/CASIE colour:

n00d lipstick by casie stewart bite beauty

The Lip Lab is on Queen just West of Bathurst.

Heaps of colours and I love how they’re displayed on the wall.

You can add up to two flavours to your lipstick. I did mint (only). ¬†I’m happy, it’s refreshing. I bet there’s some pretty great combos with these tho.

It didn’t take that long! I loved the first colours we mixed up and then Christopher got the ingredients, mixed it, chilled it on a cold plate, and put it in a tube. Then they engrave it for you at no extra charge.

Before I knew it, I had my very own unique lipstick, with my initials, and I waltzed off into the sunshine! ‚ėÄÔłŹ

Now I want to make a bright red and peachy one for spring.¬†ūüćĎ

If you’re interested¬†in stopping by, here’s your options. ‚Ėľ They said it’s super popular for mother daughter, bffs, sisters. I was there 3pm on a Friday and it wasn’t busy when I got there but¬†there were more people by the time I was leaving.¬† They also serve wine! ūüć∑

Skincare Stuff You’ll Find in My Summer Bag

Summer, yay!¬†‚ėÄÔłŹ Hard to believe it’s almost the of July! ūüôÜūüŹľ ¬†Have no fear, there’s still plenty of time to soak up the sunshine, read books in the hammock, and have delicious snacks on the dock.

As you know I spend most weekends at the cottage over the summer, this list of skincare stuff isn’t super fancy but it’s a combo of things I was sent to try out (then replaced with my own money) or products¬†I stock up on so there’s one at home and the cottage.

This post is sponsored by Boxed Water, is a socially conscious packaged-water company re-thinking the way water is sold, shipped and consumed. For every photo posted of¬†Boxed Water with#ReTree¬†on social, they’ll¬†plant two trees. ūüĆ≥ūüĆ≥ ¬†I love the little box, so cute.

Ok, here we go!

Summer Skincare Stuff I Love

1. WATER – Drink heaps of it. Your skin will thank you. ūüí¶ ¬†Boxed Water is triple filtered for purity using reverse osmosis, carbon filtration and UV systems and filled in both Michigan & Utah.¬†The entire carton is recyclable and 100% BPA free with 1% of all sales going¬†to reforestation. ūüĆĪ ūüĆ≥ ūüĆ≤ ¬†You can find it at Loblaws or¬†Sobeys in Canada. ūüá®ūüá¶

enlight1.jpg

2. WIPES – Do not leave home without them. Found these ones Yes To. Coconut ones at Shoppers¬†and they’ve got coconut water and kukui nut (from Hawaii) to hydrate your skin. Perfect for removing makeup, wiping hands on long car rides, or god forbid you have to take a wee on your nature hike.

3. SELF-TANNER – I love the sun and having a tan but I don’t wanna have old wrinkly bacon-like skin. I was sent Vita Liberata earlier this year and I absolutely love this stuff. It goes on easy with a mitt, is not streaky, and best of all is not smelly! I order online from Sephora.

4. NIGHT CREAM – No matter how tired you are PUT IT ON EACH NIGHT. I started using this Nivea Q10 Plus Anti-Wrinkle Night Care¬†a couple months ago and it’s super hydrating. I’ll take all the no-wrinkle things I can get at this point. It was sent to test out but I picked up¬†a refill from Shoppers.

5. SUNNIES – The skin around your eyes is super sensitive, you don’t wanna be squinting or having those UVA + UVB rays attacking your eyes. Keep your face looking young and get huge glasses that cover your face.

6. Dermalogica Age Smart Primer Spf 30 – This primer is tinted and perfect for summer when you need coverage but don’t wanna wear a lot of makeup. I’ve been doing stuff with Dermalogica for a few years now and this is a product I always like¬†to get my hands on. [More¬†Dermalogica posts]

7. SUN BLOCK – This Clearly Sheer from Coppertone is new this year and it’s quite nice. There’s a smaller one in a spray bottle that’s perfect for your purse. ALWAYS wear sun block, OK?¬†ūüėé

8. AFTER SUN CARE – I’ve been using this Hawaiian Tropic Silk aloe lotion for years. It’s a saviour if you’ve had a long day in the sun or someone gets a sun burn. lather it on, like slip-slap-slop it all over your tender skin. once it dries, re-apply. You’ll avoid getting read and burnty. ūüė°

This has motivated me to think about other lists I can make… LMK if there’s anything you’d like to know my thoughts on!

Here’s to a wonderful long weekend and LOTS OF SUNSHINE! ‚ėÄÔłŹ ūüėé ‚úĆūüŹľ

Before my surgery last month I really wanted to change¬†my look, but when I went to the salon the person doing my hair wasn’t the¬†regular person and they didn’t do the best job or what I wanted. So, it’s not looking too cute right now.

Putting Your Best Face Forward w/ Dr. Lisa Kellett

Putting Your Best Face Forward w/ Dr. Lisa Kellett

This year I turned 34, I know, hard to believe! I’ve always had a young youthful spirit and boundless energy, think back to the other weekend when I drew all over my bag for the Ford adventure. Mum had a chuckle when I showed her this photo, sometimes I’m still 8 years old.

A few months ago I was given the opportunity to learn about Emervel, a soft dermal filler for dealing with fine lines and wrinkles. It’s used most for enhancing lips and minimizing the signs of ageing. It was good timing because I’ve had more chats about ‘enhancing’ beauty at events over the last year than ever.  Earlier this year I shared the Emervel Kissability report with info on plumping up your pout.

YouTube Canada gave me some stats about beauty & fashion trends on the rise, three of the top beauty trends are eyelash extensions, eyebrow filler, and lipstick. Canada also ranks 3rd worldwide for ‘lip filler’ which had a big spike last year and continues to grow.

According to dermatologist Dr. Lisa Kellett, ‚ÄúEmervel Lips helps achieve a balanced and harmonious look, and, combined with other products in the Emervel line, can give the face a more youthful and rejuvenated appearance. Patients are very satisfied with the natural-looking and long-lasting results.‚ÄĚ

I made an appt with Dr. Lisa Kellett for a consultation without knowing too much but I was interested in seeing about minimizing smile lines around my mouth (nasolabial folds) and the lines between brows (neuromodulator). I considered the appointment like an interview, I wanted the low down on what people were doing and results.

Dr. Kellett analyzed my face and talked about options. I was relieved to hear she’s a minimalist and likes to go for the ‘refreshed’ look. Basically, nobody would be able to notice exactly what was different but I’d look ‘refreshed’. She said ‘refreshed’ again and as I left that stayed in my mind. After a week I booked an appointment.

Before

no makeup date of appointment, frowning, visible smile lines. I used black & white because I look haggard!

* I’ve been using Miracle10 for about 8 weeks and it’s really helped the redness in my skin go down and clear up my complexion. See before and after of those here.

After

The morning of my appt at DLK in Yorkville I was kinda nervous. Arrived about 30 min early so I could get a coffee and snack. I got to the office at 8:20 for my 8:30 appointment. Dr. Kellet came in and we chatted about looking ‘refreshed’ and I let her do her thing.

The whole appt took about 30 minutes and it didn’t hurt. The needles they use are very small, less of a prick than an immunization. She did a treatment for my smile lines, and cheeks to enhance natural contour.

One week after: lines from nose to mouth minimized, looking fresh

The treatment for the smile lines will last about 6-12 months. I can 100% understand why 9/10 patients want to have this procedure again. I love it. It’s just enough to make a slight difference and I feel refreshed. If I hadn’t written this post I don’t think anyone would even notice!

When I got home from the appointment Sean popped by the house and looked at me for a second, then said ‘you look pretty‘. It made me feel great. ūüíė

If you’re looking into this type of treatment it’s important to go to a reputable dermatologist/clinic. If someone is offering a discount, think twice before putting that stuff in your face. Dr. Kellett is one of the top in her field in Canada and you can find her at DLK on Avenue Road.

It’s been a couple weeks since my first visit and I’m due for a follow up. I’ll give you an update how that goes. If you have any questions, feel free to ask me via email or send me a DM.

Here’s to putting your best self forward and feeling great about it!
