it’s the little things that count i tell ya my deary

Woke up to to a super sunny view of the island, tweeted it and rolled out of bed. Been waking up pretty tired lately, probably from staying up late w/ Andy playing Angry Birds. God I love hate that stupid game. I’ve been using my PC less now that I have ipad. Haven’t blogged from there yet, WordPress app seems to be not functioning properly. I can officially say I’ve been mac’d and it’s only a matter of time before I switch to iphone. We all knew it would happen one day… Listening to Diamond Rings – Special Affections, liking it. Got this lovely email just now: Hey Casie, I love love your blog (appreciate how positive you are in a world of blogs of people complaining) and would love to send you an organic skincare treat that I think would be perfect given your new(ish) post as Provocateur. What’s your mailing address? Thanks!! Those little things make me so happy, getting natural skincare stuff is great but the fact that someone took the time to point out my positvity and thank me for that is totally lovely. Being positive is contageous and so is smiling, so do it, live it and feel it. Your life will be better.

it’s the little things that matter most

Thank You Sprouter! from my heart I met Sarah Prevette and Erin Bury early this year when I volunteered to be on the team for Twestival. At the time they were Redwire and the power behind the greatness that was hosting the event. Being part of the team and getting to know them was an awesome experience. We have since worked on a bunch of things together and I try to help out where I can. The office admin girl came over and said ‘you’re so lucky’ as she dropped a beautiful green money tree at my desk. Interestingly enough, I mentioned earlier that karma goes around and shows up when you least expect it. I feel so lucky today. Thank you. Looking forward to Twestival Local on September 12th, mark your calendars!

Trying New Things: Vettä Nordic Spa

The other weekend we drove up to the cottage to visit the parents’. It’s been ages since we’d been up North. On the way home we stopped at Veta Nordic Spa for a little R&R. We also stopped by Currie’s Music in Gravenhurst, my fav vintage shop in the area. They have a fab curated selection of vintage finds in the back of the music shop. This yellow number had my name on it but was much too big. Almost got this cute prom dress! It’s always fun to try things on even if you dobn’t end up buying them. Our experience at Vetta Spa was very nice. 100% would visit again. It’s very quiet. You can’t use your phone. There is a bar and 2 restaurants. The cold plunge pool was about 7 degrees which was warm for a seasoned dipper like me but still, it was nice. All you need to show up wth is yourself and bathing suit. You get a robe wen you register in and can rent slides. If you have sandals I would recommend bringing them. Look forward to going back, probably in the winter!

Trying New Things: Puppy Yoga!

The other day I went to Puppy Yoga with my bff Michelle! Hosted by Toronto Doggos, pet-friendly events, Puppy Yoga includes a 1-hour yoga class, cute puppies, and a mimosa. Honestly, it was pretty cute. I’m not the hugest dog person, (I get scared!) but these little furballs were just lovely. If you’re looking for a cute time with a friend, highly recommend. If you’re looking for a great yoga workout, this isn’t it! Too hard to concentrate on moves with these little cuties roaming around. You do not need to bring your own yoga mat, they’re supplied by Toronto Doggos as the puppies have accidents sometimes. They do have a team circling to make sure there’s no mess unattended, plus cleaning supplies are in clear view. The best part was how happy it made Michelle! She was smiling from ear to ear the whole day. It’s a great activity to cheer anyone up, especially on a cold winter’s day!

Day 344: My Things and Thoughts

Since Friday (Day 341), Sean has been up at the cottage solo and I’ve been home alone. It’s actually been really nice for both of us to have the time and space to be alone and do our own things. He loves being up at the cottage, chopping trees with the chainsaw, doing woodsy things. I love being home with my things and thoughts. I had such a relaxing weekend and felt refreshed and ready to start the day today. After work, I had A&W with April and it was so nice to laugh together. I decided to get ready for bed nice and early after a bath and a full face care routine. I’m still working my way through Younger on Prime and have been REALLY enjoying going to bed early. In other news, I re-pierced my own nose today. I had this piercing for AGES but took it out a couple of years ago. I also have a septum piercing in the middle cartilage of my nose but rarely show it. This little stud is barely noticeable and I like it. I’m dying to get a new tattoo and might buy a stick poke kit. I did a tiny one at the start of the pandemic but want to try something more artistic and professional.

San Francisco: 5 Great Things to Do

There’s no shortage of things to do in San Francisco, you have the water, the Wharf, the city, parks the hills, and over 3,500 restaurants. The key is finding a few ways to see the city with enough time to explore. If I’m on a short trip to a new city, I like to pick 3-5 things I really want to see and give myself lots of time to do it. That way I can leave early in the day and take the scenic route, enjoy meals, take streets without a map, and follow the sunshine. In this list, you’ll find five great things to do in San Francisco if you’re on a short trip but want to see a lot. I’ve also included my runner-up for street art and FOOD. Fisherman’s Wharf & The Grotto There is no shortage of great food in SF but if you’re looking for fresh (and sustainably served) seafood, you’ll want to book a table here. The Grotto was first opened in 1935 and the first sit down restaurant at Fisherman’s Wharf. It’s recently been renovated, restoring many of the original features, giving a modern touch to the 1930’s decor. Here you’ll find great views of the bay, the bridge, and boats while taking in the incredible menu by Executive Chef Paul Bruno. Make sure you check out the new beehive on the roof as you walk in the dining area, it’s not be missed! 5 Things To Do In Prince Edward County

Last week my sister and I went on an adventure to Prince Edward County. PEC is southern Ontario with a coastline on Lake Ontario’s northeastern shore. It’s been about 20 years since either of us were in The County. I have fond memories of Jenie and I camping at Sandbanks Park with our parents, playing on massive sand hills, making things with clay. Our trip was courtesy of The Drake Hotel and their PEC property, The Drake Devonshire. We were there to experience Countylicious, similar to Winterlicious/Summerlicious where restaurants feature 3-course prix fixe menus for $40/pp (+ tax & tip). In 24 hours we did so much more than just eat great food. The County has so much to offer so here are a few thing I recommend for your PEC road trip. 5 Things to Do in Prince Edward County Visit Wineries There’s 40+ wineries in PEC and a whole bunch of breweries. If you love great wine, you deff want to visit the princeedwardcountywine.ca and make a plan of places to visit. On our tour we stopped into Wapoos Winery, the very first one in the region. It’s absolutely beautiful and right on the water. Check out the Wapoos menu for Countylicious here. If you happen to drive a Tesla, they have a charging station. Eat Great Food There is no shortage of great places to eat in Prince Edward County. Things That Are Distant Though Near ☀️

Sitting outside yoga and feeling happy. The sun is bright, air warm, I’m sipping coffee at a picnic table before biking home. Had a pretty magical day yesterday, took Steph to Drake Commissary before her flight. After, I walked Queen West and popped into the Trinity Bellwoods farmers market to pick up some stuff. What a gem that place is, there was a babe playing guitar and singing, lots of fresh flowers, vegetables, fish. I got an organic chocolate fudge popsicle and sauntered down Dundas on my way home. I wasn’t listening to music but it was so lovely it was like there was a soundtrack playing. Went to yoga last night and this morning which makes me feel back on my game. ?? After so many days at the cottage I was really missing my vinyasa flow. We did yoga outside today and it was so nice. The sky was a bright blue and breeze warm. Finally replaced this little thing aka my personal photographer. It’s a Bluetooth remote for your phone. It works great and aside from photos you can use it for Snaps, Stories, or Boomerangs. Ordered on Amazon via Prime after I lost my other one. ??? In other news, Lauren and I are doing something crazy today for the new Spider-Man movie. LEARNING NEW THINGS IS GREAT!

For Christmas Sean got me an iPad Pro with Apple Pencil and my first reaction wasn’t what he was expecting. I kept saying ‘It’s so big!” and thought about returning it the first couple days. BUT now, I can’t imagine my life without it! Last week I signed up for a creative hand lettering course so I could learn how to use Procreate and it is SO COOL. The course ($45) is by Caroline Kelso Zook who has a website called Made Vibrant for creatives. I’ve subscribed to her for a few months and ? her work. I’ve been staying up late drawing, then dreaming about drawing. I’m only just getting started and on part 2 of 4 in the course. I’m learning new things every day so you’ll start to see colourful creations pop up more and more. Using AirDrop to share seamlessly between iPhone, iPad, Macbook is so incredibly awesome. YAY technology and internet and art. I started my drawing blog ‘Borderline Artistic‘ back in 2008 when I got my 1st gen iPad. I loved that little thing. Remember Andy? Now with iPad Pro, I’m creating more than ever and I’m planning to update things around here with more art. Went to Wake Up at Yoga Yoga this morning and had a coffee/croissant at Hale. Both places give me so much joy! Tonight is the media opening of Drake Commissary and I’m taking my yoga teacher, Sandy! Today is going to be sunny to put a smile on your face and flash it around. Sending you some sunshine through the internet, across the sky, right to your screen.

Enjoy A Little, Endure a Lot

This week felt like a long one and it’s finally Thursday. As Keri would say, “Best night of the week!”. Tonight I’m heading to my BFFs house out of the city and tomorrow we rented a sweet hotel room in a random Ontario town, not too far, for a well deserved girls getaway. Sometimes when I look back at my story of the day, on Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, or Facebook, my short term memory forgets things even happen. This was the case a few times this week. I started the week slow, was super tired, and had a sore shoulder from an awkward sleep on Sunday. Tuesday I spent most the day dragging my a$$ through the motions, but, by the end of the day I was so inspired I couldn’t sleep! I was a judge at the Women in Wearables Tech Meetup for the Female Founders Cup. It was great to be surrounded by incredibly amazing women making waves in the tech community. Some of my favourite tech things right now for SPRING.

This is Sacha (above) and we work together on Telus. I’ve been partnered with the Telus team since 2009, my longest relationship! Working together has brought us closer as friends and every time we meet to ‘work‘ it hardly feels like we’re doing a ‘job’. I’m smiling as I write this thinking of all the LOLs we had last week at the Eaton Centre Telus Store. Don’t know if you’ve been in a Telus store recently but there’s HEAPS of home, audio, fitness, and fashion tech, aside from phones. I cruised the store picking out some tech things I love, to share with you. Here’s a few of my favourites right now and why I love them. JBL Clip 2 – Travel & Party On with This Loud Lil’ Thing I was sent to CES (Consumer electronics Show, Vegas) in January with Harman, the parent company of JBL. This little speaker packs major power and the 2017 version is waterproof not just water resistant. At CES they had them planing tunes in the water. Last year at the cottage I used this little buddy so much and it’s my go-to travel speaker for hotel room dance parties. It’s surprisingly LOUD for it’s size. Lose your stuff all the time? Me too! Get a Tile! I backed Tile when it was a Kickstarter a bunch years ago. It’s a little plastic thing with Bluetooth that connects to an app on your phone. You put them on your stuff to track it and the device makes a noise when activated. I can not tell you how many damn times I have lost my keys in the house, in a purse, in a jacket, in the couch, behind the couch, in the blankets, in a drawer, or in the pantry (yes). Made a Thing: Little Wooden Laptop Table

This weekend I did more than just watch Netflix, I made a thing! On Friday night I saw this cool bed table laptop stand thing found it on Etsy. It was $60 but then $40 in shipping and I was like HELL NO. So I decided to make one! Saturday morning I went to Home Depot and picked up 1/2″ copper pipe, 4fittings, and 4 steel flange. I asked a dude who worked there for help to save time and he cut the pipe for me too. I didn’t think about cutting the pipe so this was a huge help! If you’re reading from the UK, you can buy copper from aluminium warehouse or somewhere similar instead. I used a large cutting board we had around the house as the table top. Next time I’ll use a bigger piece of nice wood from the bunch we’ve got at the cottage. I think rougher edges would look nice. All the pieces cost just under $50 and it didn’t take long to put this stuff together. The glue is to hold the pipe bits together and I let it dry overnight. So happy with how this turned out. I saw it, wanted it, and made it! I’m no expert on DIY, yet but I’ve got a long list of things I want to make for the house and cottage. This does however mean that I am going to have to invest in some more tools! Most important of all, I need to find a good cordless drill. End of August Thoughts & Things

This week has everyone talking about how summer is ‘over’ but tbh guys, there’s still a bunch of nice days left. It was so hot out yesterday. It’s that perfect time of year when the days are warm, nights cool for sleeping, and there are NO bugs. As I mentioned the other day it’s a great time to ditch old habits, clean out that closet, and make a new routine. I really need to get my ass in gear when it comes to what I’m eating and exercise. Maybe I just need to workout more? People always said that after 30 your metabolism slows down and damnit they were right! A photo posted by ? New Things I Love! Short Hair, Tesla Cruisin’, MacBook Pro, Meat Pies ✌?️

It’s almost the weekend. I’ve worked hard. I’m ready to reeeeeeeeelaxxxx! Looks like we’re gonna get some rain, I’m working on a blog makeover so I’m ok with that. Won’t feel bad missing sunshine to nerd out ON MY NEW COMPUTER! Sean picked it up for me yesterday and I can’t WAIT to tour around this amazingly fast little machine. He also came home with meat pies from The Pie Comission. Seriously, what a dreamboat! I’m so stoked. It’s been a few years since I upgraded my Mac Game and I’m proudly replacing my 11″ MacBook Air with a 13″ MacBook Pro. Welcome to the family! Sean recommended that I got an external monitor for my MacBook to make my life a bit easier so I’m looking at reviews on bestbezellessmonitor and will keep you updated on whether I get one or not! I’m also going to be a lot more careful with this one, as I know that they’re susceptible to cracked screens if not looked after properly – I don’t want to have to fork out to repair it any time soon. All my Apple gadgets over the years have been named after famous men in history. This guy is yet to be named… Went to the Indie Ale House last night. Food was really good! She moved to the junction recently so I have another friend in the hood. Woot! The desserts, so good. Loving my hair short. Getting it trimmed a BIT shorter today too. Rode in my first TESLA yesterday. What a car! It’s so fast, smart, good looking, efficient, I can’t get enough. Snapped this out the sunroof. Beautiful day!
