This afternoon Beans and I threw on some heels and strutted over to GCI Canada for the Summer BBQ. Nice roof patio partio they have going on. Perfect for tanning. My boy Luke wasn’t there (Mexico vacay!) so I got to know a bunch of the ladies. Seems like a real positive place to work, they all seemed quite happy. Beautiful sun and beers were a nice addition too. Food was great. Very organic and healthy tasting which went swell with radiant sunshine and an ice cold Stella. Ice cream sanny was the perf addition to our lunchable. Don’t judge my chippy nail polish or funny face. Ok, now for the best part. I chatted Naz who does stuff with Barbie and she gave me a present. It was in a nice box and I was like OMG OMG is it a BARBIE? It WAS a BARBIE! A 1662 Special Edition, Brunette, Bubble Cut hair with bathingsuit and outfit. Oh man. Now Peaches & Creme has a new bestie. Just kiddin, not opening it. The Barbie faces have changed to much over the years. Sabrina got one too. Skinnier with bigger boobs now. I like the older Marilyn style better.How sweet is this lady? I love her.

Don’t have long. Gotta run. Roof lunch beer BBQ at GCI Canada shortly and I don’t wanna be late. I wonder if they will have gift bags? They sent me VIP to the Barbie show for LGFW. I love Barbie. Do you know I hve all my Barbies at my condo right now. I would love to play with them. Maybe later. A gift bag was delivered to CTV for me but marked FORA, so they kept it. Naturally. Hope my PR girly sends a new one. I guess it was like a parting gift for the girls I used to work with. Ha! You’re welcome. Went for dinner with a babe to Joe Mama’s last night. Goat cheese, pistachio salad I love you. Must clean room today. Omg the days are flying by. I have some serious work to do post BBQ in the sun. Still winning the Virgin Provocateur votes but PLEASE tell you friends, I must win this thing. If you vote the others down Richard Branson will say cheeky things to you. How naughty! Vote here. My friend Crystal designed this Social Media Monopoly and it was on Mashable yesterday. I shared it on FB and didn’t even see that it was HER, MY FRIEND. Iwas like OMG, getting on Mashable is a social media geek wet dream. CONGRATS GIRL, keep up the awesomeness. One day I will be on Mashable too! the earth moved me, shakey shake.

I think my first earthquake was in 1990 but i don’t really remember. Today I was sitting at my desk, working away when I noticed my monitor shaking and the table and me. Naturally, I tweeted. This is what happened… We’ve had crews taking down the MMVA stage from the roof and the street car goes by all the time so at first I didn’t think it was anything. When it went on for about 30 seconds I knew something was up. Pretty crazy. Even crazier that we got the first Super Swarm in CANADA. Woot.

Spent the night at work tweetin’ away as @mtvcanada and watching the MTV movie Awards. Feelin’ lucky that this is my job, I would be tweeting the show from my personal account given this wasn’t my gig so it’s pretty awesome. Was NOT impressed with Xtina’s weak performance, Katy Perry was good. I love her so much man, she’s so hot. Tom Cruise was hilar with J.Lo. There was a bunch of swearing which was a shocker but funny. I’m taking Friday afternoon of this week and coming in late tomorrow morning. I’m gonna get a bit of work done tonight for Carly (my agent) before I hit the hay. Ok nighty night. Feelin’ pretty tired. Looking forward to sleeping in! xo

Walked to work with the cousins this morning and showed than around the MuchMusic studio. It’s really nice having them here. I’ve never had a cousin around my age visit me before. We had a fun at the game last night, but baseball, I’m just not that into it. The Rogers Ctr was quite empty and we ditched our already good seats in the 200’s to move in to the 100’s super close. Will post about that later. Thanks Mum for sending this little shirt dress, love it! This is an interesting vid from the Rogers blog with stats on how we use technology. It’s fascinating to think about how communication has changed in the last 10 years, 5 years, 2 years. My main source of communication is Twitter and I rarely actually ‘talk’ on the phone to anyone. Twitter is where I get the bulk of my info and most friends I hang with these days, all tweet. I love it. Text, gchat and email rank higher than voice over phone line for sure. In other entertainment news, the World Cup ACTUAL cup will be @muchmusic for MOD today.

I got shot by Erika Ruth about 2 weeks ago. Here are some of the pix. It was a super nice day out, sunny, warm. I was internetting down by the lake in the sunshine. My outfit: singlet, american apparel bikini, cut off shorts, fishnets, Dr. Marten combat boots, ribbon laces. Then I chilled out on Canada’s largest tall ship, Empire Sandy. It got a little windy as I reflected on my day. This one is my fav. I’ll have the whole set from her later this week. Stoked to see how they look. its really pretty here

I’m down by the water near my house, Lake Ontario and it’s sooo lovely right now. Had a photoshoot earlier today with Erika . When it was done I strolled over to the Beer Store and got a couple Sapporo and came to lay in the grass. The sun is shining so beautifully on the water. I’m watching planes land at the Island Airport. Lots of people walking by with dogs, holding hands, speaking different languages. Saw a cute boy on a longboard. Its so refreshing to sit outside in the sun and be alone to think and recharge my batteries. Gonna head home soon as it gets a little chilly and watch the Junos and do a little Tweeting for @mtvcanada. Today is a good day, Sunday Funday.

Heyooo. Cra-zay busy today. Saw these dudes outside work today and got some Kick-Ass bandaids. Guy had some serious moves. I kinda wanted to roll the kid for her wig. I need to get some new wigs before I head to Florida next month. Ya, excited. They (Maple Pictures) have a room set up in the store front that they use for movie/promo stuff. We watch out the window from the office and troll over when we know they’re givin’ out free stuff. I love these guys, trolly’s. This is Oliver (Oli-vee-eh) my friend from France. He’s here doing a massive bike ride across Canada. He was sponsored by Adidas + a bunch of other peeps in Paris. If you wanna help him out, lemme know! We were playing with all my glasses the other day. It;s fun, can’t you tell?! Have a dinner date tonight with a friend. Gonna go home and work on some blog shiz while the sun is still out. changing the face & < body > language of advertising

Today I went to FW and I was a media, a real media. Being there challenged/changed any old thoughts I had of how Fashion Week goes down. The internet makes everything instant. I imagine the days when clothes are shown IN season and made to order online from the runway via mobile and delivered shortly after … ah, a girl can dream can’t she? I was in the media room often doing work (otherwise known as FB & Tweets) for MuchMTV. I was surrounded by bloggers and traditional media, however, quite impressed by bloggers. Filling up seats and sitting amongst Elle, Flare and the league of fashion then going straight back to little laptops updating blogs with photos hot off the runway. Think of all the people it takes to produce something the ‘old way’ (photo, write, produce, edit, post) then a blogger comes along and is this all-in-one media publishing station. It’s truly amazing. Saw this video today via Marketing Mag basically, there’s NO FUTURE if you’re not going digital. I mean, that’s only true if you wanna advertise anything to anyone, ever. Duh, get up on it; power to the people! Did you know that half of FB’s 400 million users check in EVERYDAY? Take that to the bank. That’s like heaps. The Last Advertising Agency On Earth from FITC I’m a huge Saatchi fan for years but mostly since that book I told you about a couple times, remember? I used to dream about working there. Looks like CGI is doing a good job of listening/paying attention…my Tweet showed up on their homepage today retweeting a photo re: Barbie’s show on Wednesday at LGFW. i always wanted to work in fashion until i did

I love this photo. I’m not sure the artist but I wish it was me. I’m polishing off the guestlist fro our FORA sneak peek tomorrow. I’m stoked. Kelly tweeted back to me @mtvcanada saying she’s might wear all pink instead of black. She always wears black. Exciting. I dreamed of fashion, magazines, and my job last night. It was great. Woke up early, put on The City and made a plan to go buy Kelly’s book “If You Have to Cry, Go Outside: And Other Things Your Mother Never Told You”. I remember I had a ‘hard ass’ boss once. It was my first job out of university, I had always wanted to work in Toronto fashion. My boss, she was fierce. Everyone knew not to piss her off. She was strict and opinionated. I leaned a lot from her. Mostly I learned the hard way, by doing things wrong and having her yell at me. That was often preceded by me wiping tears in the bathroom and going back to my desk. It was that job that motivated me to work hard to get out of it. Now that I don’t work for her anymore, I’ve grown to love her. I thought that working in fashion would make me so happy but really, you can always be fashionable you should do a job you love. Ok work time. Gonna start the book after I get it tonight, looking forward to sharing it. Longer days today too, yahooo! Watch this vid, it’s lovely. I wanna wear all the dresses in the store. I’ve been making some vids but I would LOVE to win this $250,000 viralocity contest with Doritos… BTW, I’m sick of the work viral. I can’t enter it because of my job but it’s open to anyone in Canada over who’s ever been teenager. I checked a bunch of videos today and didn’t seen anything particularity hilarious. Met Louis Lautman last night at Notable TV’s premiere of The YES Movie. I asked him to tell you about the movie since it’s his movie [see video]. He said it’s kinda like The Secret on steroids meets MTV. Would really like to know if the young peeps in the movie have blogs, Tweet etc. Also, making lotsa money like that, these kids should be rocking serious style/designer shit. Was surprised at the style, I expected more savy! Watched part of the movie today. Couldn’t make it last night, stopped by to see Raymi before #genyto #canLit. Nice guy, very tall and says ‘theater’ with an accent. He started the Young Entrepreneur Society, so naturally I chatted him about entrepreneurship. I’m really into the big E. I firmly believe and know I can have anything I want , this is my life. He also told me he didn’t know how to spell ‘entrepreneurship’ for a long time, said lots of people have trouble with it. I’ve never had that problem. I won Young Entrepreneur of Cambridge when I was 15 for starting a publishing company. Little did I know then I’d become a modern daily internet daily social publisher. I spend lotsa my time going to these events, Tweetups, Genyto, etc these babies are really all about a crowd, a crown full of entrepreneurial thinkers. the way to a girls heart is through her closet

I’m a hoarder. A clothes lover of sorts, heaps and piles of them constantly fill my room closet/floor/bed. It’s overwhelming to think about putting them away. I know this may seem trivial to some but too bad, it’s my thing, always has been, always will be. I love clothes and shoes..and accessories. Recently got these amazing white skinny jeans from Jonny who runs Shop My Clothes. He’s a friend, a blogger and one of my contributors to the MTV magazine I told you about a while back. (BTW FORA comes out later this month. Stay tuned!) I saw some great style on there today: Christian Louboutin’s ($160 size 8), DVF jacket – 3/4 sleeves/tuxedo collar ($75). It’s in Canada/USA and you can post FOR FREE. HAZAA! His site’s been growing fast so I figured it was about time I shared it. I also figure the only way I’m going to be able to justify getting anything new is to clean out some of my nice things and post them on Shopmyclothes.com. I’m sure they would rather be on a warm body than permanently hanging in closet darkness. I just need to clean up the clothes, that’s the hard part. I keep avoiding it. I need a cleaning lady, I’m cleaning lazy.

life is about building relationships

I think this “Gold Canada Gold” melted. Sun was so beautiful in the afternoon yesterday, I really wanted to get on my bike. It needs a tuneup and a shine. Watched the Bachelor. It’s so annoying, I can’t believe he picked Vienna but he did. I realize I hate that stupid show and remind myself not to watch it. I’ve been having trouble sleeping, I stay up and work on things. I wish I didn’t get tired. The body needs rest, as does the mind. Gah, I’m excited about life, I can’t help it. Been eating a bit less healthier the last two weeks, lost a few pounds. Feels good, dreaming of summer like errrry day. I’ve started liking Google Buzz. Seems like a good aggregation tool and my Google profile has links to everything. Looking into more features and will share another day. I’ve been in a love affair with Google for a long time. It’s been a really good relationship. Very little downtime and always surprising me with new things. I like it.

believe in your self, dedication and discipline

This article was in the Toronto Metro yesterday & written by Rea McNamara. If you click on it you can read it easier (Mum/Dad/friends). I’ve worked really hard the last couple years on this whole social media thing. SO MANY late nights at home alone with my computer, fiddling around with blog posts, learning HTML, installing/fixing wordpress plugins, editing photos and more. I’ve got over 21,000 tweets for christs sake, that’s a big time investment right there. Building a brand online takes work, it takes work every single day whether you are building it for personal or business use. You just gotta stick at it. One of the best things I learned from my Mum is “just because you don’t have money, doesn’t mean you can’t compete, it just means you have to be more creative“. Creativity & determination don’t cost anything, yet they have gotten me further than anything else. All the social media sites I use are FREE. I use them often and yes, it takes up lots of my time but THAT has been my investment. It’s also how I got one of the coolest jobs ever. Thank you for the feedback & positive comments. I love hearing from you. Got some great messages from people lately that inspire me to stick at it when sometimes I don’t feel like internetting. April 27th is my blog’s birthday and I think it deserves a party.
