The same thing we do every night, Pinky…

Great time Thursday at JapanquakeTO. I wore this red one piece pantsuit number. Been crazy busy the last couple days with some client stuff and trying to take over the internet world. I have so many stories/photos to share. I really like to blog when things happen, the whole reason I started this thinger was to keep more memories.

Totally thought I busted my Olympus camera but realized this morning I just had the battery backwards. Blonde much! Car has been in parking for the last two days, I like having it but man, parking downtown is a real b*tch. Guess what, Toyota loved my post about the whole ‘gettting towed’ thing and they are going to reinburse me the $180. Sweet as eh! New tatttoo(s) are healing nicely (see red  <3 below). Got vodka in the mail yesterday from Smirnoff but I think it was an April Fools, the bottle came with it’s own speakers. What am I supposed to do with that? Drink it alone in the park with my ipad? Maybe.

Really looking forward to my trip to Boston on the 14th for a few days. Alwasy nice to get out of the city, always nice to come back too. I’m working today with a client then have a dinner this evening with a friend. Really looking forward to that 🙂

Happy Saturday,

CASIE

#BahamaMama: Please Save Our Oceans From Plastic!

This post was written by my Mum while she was living on their boat in The Bahamas!

Plastic, we all use it everyday but do we really think about where it goes when it lands in our rivers and oceans? To see mans intrusion of plastic clutter, washed up fishing nets and lost shoes on these beautiful beaches of the Atlantic Coast  is very sad.

We explored the Atlantic Ocean beach of Cambridge Cay which is part of The Exuma Cays Land & Sea Park, the first land and sea park in the world.

The park covers 176 square miles beginning at Wax Cay Cut in the North and Stretching southward some 22 miles to Conch Cut and extending out approximately 4 nautical miles on either side of the cays.

It is a no-take zone by both land and sea-nothing living or dead, can be removed from the park.  The park can only be reached by boat. To have the opportunity to visit this park is amazing.

Miss you, love Mum.

yesterday on twitter, this happened:

Enjoy a NICE cold beer? Check out this new thing from @MolsonCoors!

My friends at Molson are a bit wacky but very cool people none the less. They sent me this new thing they’re working on and I wanna know YOUR thoughts. The marketing teams call it a “Taste Buddy”. This prototype is from R&D, its a mix of lycra & neoprene. One size fits any tongue.

It’s a tongue koozie to keep your tongue warm when you are drinking ice cold beer.  Kinda like those beer koozies in the summer. Ahhh, Summer & cold beer.

These guys take this cold stuff seriously, eh?

“an all-around plugged-in pioneer” #personalbranding101

I recently wrote an article for Levis about Crafting Your Persoal Brand. It came out this week and I’m pretty proud of it.  I shared some tips that will help you (or anyone) to build and showcase their talents online. I hope you will check it out.

“Casie Stewart knows a thing or two about leaving an online footprint. Recognized by Klout as one of Toronto’s top tweeters and bloggers, she has plenty of tips on how you can leverage social media channels as an invaluable element to your personal brand.”

Here are some tips on building your personal brand to help  establish yourself online:

  1. Set a goal: Make a plan for your brand. What are you passionate about? What do you want to be known for?
  2. Start a blog: Use WordPress, Tumblr, Blogger or Posterous to create a free home for your online activity.
  3. Find a mentor: Find someone who is doing what you want to do and introduce yourself, learn from them and get inspired.
  4. TGIF: Twitter, Google, Internet, Facebook: Create profiles for yourself online and update them regularly with things that align with your brand.
  5. Get Involved: Seek out events related to your passion and get involved by volunteering. This is a great way to grow your brand, meet others and learn from experts.

I’ve been building my personal brand online for over five years. At first, no one read my blog, and I had no followers on Twitter. We all have to start somewhere but have the potential to go anywhere. In the words of Napoleon Hill, “What the mind of man can conceive and believe, it can achieve.”

what are you talking about?

This is what I’ve been talking about recently on Twitter. Kinda cool. I like visuals and things that are pretty.

I’m not a big stats checker upper or anything but sometimes I like to look at charts or graphs. I really love Sysomos and their social media monitoring and analytics tools. They track things like sentiment analysis, workflow, Facebook & Twitter. Pretty neat stuff.

Are you using somehting cool I should know about? LMK!

BTW remember when I was hiring and some of you applied to work for me? Well, it’s ALIVE now. Meow. Check out The Central Counties! If you register and submit a story about something cool you did there you can win a helicopter ride.

New makeup for me, Givenchy! Thank you #LVMH xo

My job has perks and today was a good one. This morning team Givenchy & LVMH had a few people at Sephora in Yorkville to see the new makeup products. Now that’s MY kinda breakfast.

I’ve been doing work with Givenly LVMH (Louis Vuitton Moet Hennesy) for the last few years. They’ve been really great to me & my blog with giveaways, goodies and donating prizes for charity events. Thanks, guys!

Keri browsing all the new stuff, looking glam.

Clearly, I NEED A MANICURE but this blush jelly is good for all skin tones.

This is David the General Manager for LVMG Fragrance Brands. Charming you are David! Thanks for having us.

I’m learning how to work the Olympus PEN better too. Today I figured out how to paparazzi style shoot. Look out. Stalky stalk, stalk. Haha, I love being creeeeeepy.

I’m going to have a BLAST playing with all these new products. From what I’ve tried in the past they are really, really good.

getting a new tattoo, this one’s for you <3

I’m getting it Thursday night at Tattoo Rock parlour & my money is being donated to Red Cross for Japan. I love getting tattooed.  Piercing not as much, remember when I did this for fun? Where is that vest BTW. I think I lost it in Montreal w/ Raymbo & friends.
I’ve wanted this tattoo for a while. I always start out with markers and draw them on  my skin first. Make sure I like it as permanent fixture in my life.  I’v drawn on a zillion times now.

BTW have you read the news about Japan the last couple days?

‎Come to Tattoo on Thursday night for JapanquakeTO and donate some time/money to a good cause. Door 9pm at Tattoo  Rock Parlour on Queen Street. Get a ticket here.
The night is going to be fun. We have three DJs lined up – Justin Barkie, HopScottch and Carson from LE DJ. They’ll be hosting a shuffle party all night long.
There’s HEAPS of AWESOME sponsors check’ em out at japanquaketo.ca.  These goodies are all up for raffle tickets too:

i totally had a dude where’s my car moment

No seriously. I’m not used to driving a car downtown. I love to walk and text and take photos and look at stuff. Yes, driving is fun but YES driving downtown in the middle of the day can make you a crazy person. A CRAZY PERSON. I feel like a tourist driving. Yesterday Toyota Canada gave me a Matrix to drive for the week. I’m not sure why I think this, but I have a feeling that they got it to me by using a car moving company similar to CarsRelo as it was the easiest way to do it. However they delivered it to me though, I was so excited to try it out. It’s a fun car. The ability to just get up and go is awesome. For example, today I had brunch at my Sister’s house:)

Back to the story…

Today my car was towed. I got it yesterday.

  1. “There’s a first for everything! #casiefail (@ JP Towing) http://4sq.com/i1vsxd

Stop laughing.

I thought I was fine where I parked but I was wrong. I left the office and was chatting away on the phone as I walked back to the car on King Street just after 5:15pm. I parked at 2:45. You can’t park there 4-6pm.

My friend on the phone witnessed a mini panic. Where’s my car? OMG. All the cars were gone. It took me less than 15min to find it at JP nyc towing company and in about an hour I had it back. Thank you Shelly for driving me. The towing people were really nice and despite that it cost $180, it was kinda fun. I originally thought they’d put the cars on tandem trailers to transport them to the towing company
but I later realised it wouldn’t have fit on one! I’m so glad to have my car back now!

I called Shannon the Community Manager for Toyota right when it happened and I’m super impressed with how calm and professional she was. She assured me that everything was fine and it was. I was freaking out a little. PJ’s Towing was full and busy, I imagine heaps of people go through this everyday. The guy beside me had to pay over $1,000.

There are several reasons why your car might get towed. One of my friends was recently involved in a car accident so her car had to be towed away from the scene. She was quite badly injured so is currently in the process of working out when to speak with an attorney. The sooner the better if you ask me!

Sport Lifetyle Facts from Today:

  • Parking in downtown Toronto not fun.
  • There is lots of traffic in the city.
  • You should get your bike fixed.
  • Friends are the greatest gift.
  • Having a car is a luxury, so is parking.
  • I watched Dude Where’s My Car on the weekend.
  • This is my life.

yesterday on twitter, this happened:

Woke Up to Me ON @Mashable

As soon as I saw the first part of the tweet pop up on my push notification on ipad I knew what it was, I just had a feeling…could it be? Me and for what?

In this: Top 5 Digital Marketing Agencies on Mashable

“When Virgin America was launching its first international route to Toronto, its Creative Director Jesse McMillin contacted Evan Fry, V&S’s Chief Creative Officer to brainstorm ways to build buzz and find a local brand ambassador in Toronto. They came up with the Virgin America Toronto Provocateur. The website V&S created — with a video of Sir Richard Branson himself — received 1,500 contest entries, which were narrowed down to 20 candidates (this seems like a small number, but candidates needed to live in Toronto, be able to do the joband submit a video, which limited the applicant pool). The site received 46,000 unique visitors and V&S helped Virgin find its cheeky new ambassadorCasie Stewart, who still functions as the provocateur.”

Never heard of Mashable? Geeks & nerds across the universe think about/have thought about waking up to themselves on Mashable. Well, I know I sure have.

Read the article on Mashable & leave a comment! Have an awesome day.

P.S. get a ticket for JapanQuakeTO at Tattoo on Thursday right hurrrrrrrrrrrrre!

Guest post from my Bahama Mama

A few photos to enjoy. Deans Blue Hole opens opens up into a vast 4,000-foot-deep underwater cavern ranking it as the largest yet discovered in the world.  The platform in the middle has two divers on it who practice free diving twice a day. The world record for free diving in the blue hole is held by a guy from New Zealand. Love to all xoxo

Thanks for sharing Mum. It looks SO very beautiful. I wish I was there with you!

How long is your hair now Mum? You look super cute as always. Miss you <3

META!

There’s a whole story behind this photo and I’ll get to that.

For now, we’re not gonna go THAT meta….oh just me with my Olympus PEN on Global TV wearing my shades photographing myself wearing my shades with the PEN being shot by the other Olympus XZ. HAHA.

I am aware of my nerdyness, I like to think it’s hotness aight.

Picking up a NEW CAR from Toyota this afternoon and working on some exciting projects with my clients. Super busy but lovin’ it.

p.s. Getting a new TV stand this week ok so no comments about that. Baaaahahaaa!

rockstar hotel – spoke club #junos

Was at the lovely Spoke Club last night for a super fun Juno party. Olympus XZ is a great party cam. Loved seeing my MuchMTV family & all the other friends. Good people, great time.

Ashley & Kingsley lovely beauties from MuchMTV.

You may recognize this guy from CBC Q, The City or about a zillion other things.

Can someone remind me of this guys name? I have a terrible memory.

Remember Ryan? He was my intern at MuchMTV last year. He’s at Universal now, way to go bro. You’re awesome.

The ever so lovely & beautiful Shera Bechard, Playboy’s Miss November 2010 and star of the film Sweet Karma.

The one & only George Sully. Add him on FB here, he’s doing some cool stuff with his brands and I just might be showing up on the pages of his magazine TCHAD in the near future.

Tash & I used to be good friends. It’s probably been about three years since I saw her. She’s married now, congrats sista. Make sure you call me about your new job btw 😉

So proud of Mike aka Mike’s Bloggity. He’s now the producer for BT in Calgary and a rad blogger. We hung at MMVAs last year for the first time but were friend on the internet way before that.

Brad just left MuchMTV to join Vuse. Totally rad dude. he said I was one of his fav peeps to follow on Twitter, me & SNP. We’re total opposites me & her. Toronto is gonna miss you BSSchwarts.

Last night at the Juno’s, he was this close to big winners Arcade Fire.

Jesse, what’s not to love about this stud. He’s got a new rad show on Much too.

There were a few bands playing downstairs. Morgan, did you play? You gave me your CD and I can’t seem to find it. I think some girls took it when they saw it was you.

Eye spy Sidewalk Hustle

These two jems are Christine & Julie from Seven Dollar Pants and adorable bloggy blog with afforadable fashion & style.

Hey these sweet thang…

Photo bomb #1. I think he snowboards? Can anyone confirm.

Photo bomb #2, haha.

Still lookin’ good ladies. I still have Morgan’s CD too. Hmm.

Billy is my friend from back home in Cambridge, nice to see ya babe!

When I was in Dallas w/ Virgin America for the launch in Declast year I hung out with LMFAO at the Opera House. That was the night I met Richard Brandson & Willie Nelson. These guys are a riot. Really fun & funny.

i love when new zealand is trending

Remember last week I shared with you the Air NZ video with Snoop? Air NZ is at it again with this creative & cute safety vid w/ Richard Simmons. I saw it on Mashable and coincidently there is a Quantas ad for NZ right abovethe video, doh.

Take note of the uniforms at the start of the video. They are designed by Trelise Cooper a top NZ designer. My first frigh ever was w/ Air NZ, I was two. Best airline food I’ve had ever!

Another thing I noticed, video for Air NZ is “FIT TO FLY” and so is JUKARI the workout I did last week. Whoa, SAMES.I wanna go back to NZ so bad.

the more we get together the happier we’ll be

Ran into a friend at my fav shop yesterday.

The new Queen/Spadina Maccas is really nice looking. I’d like to do something in the upstairs space, I wonder if they let kids like me have birthday parties there? They have super hero toys right now too. I was temped to ask what other ones they have and buy them cause we used to do that when I was a kid. I didn’t. We have HEAPS of toys in the basement at Mum’s house. An amount so masssive it borders hoarders. NO lie.

There’s heaps of bright colourful grafitti in this city. I really hope Mr. Ford doesn’t continue with his plan to cover it all up. That would be not cool.

I think it looks so nice, the street art. Have you walked down all the alleys Queen West? Great for photos on warm summer days. I’m stoked for summer to get here. Need to get my bike fixed up, she needs a full makeover at a body shop.

The top right window has flowers in it. Bright & pretty.

This week is gonna be really busy. Full calendar, lots of work. I’m watching Dude Where’s my Car on ipad Netflix right now & working. I used to totally love this movie. One time, I was coming home from NZ and from LAX to YYZ Sean William Scott (Stiffler) was on our plane. Dude, sweet I know.

Jenie & I really wanted to meet him so I touched up my makeup and gathered the courage to approach him. I was about 18 at the time. I walked up to first class and went to use the bathroom but the attendant said no. SWS caught my eye when I walked back towards my seat and I totally saw him check out my boobs. I asked him if my sister and I could get a photo with him. He was super nice and ‘Stiffler like’, said he would wait for us when we got off the plane AND he DID! I didn’t have a digital camera and I took a Polaroid with this tiny camera. He was wearing a sweet leather jacket he borrowed from the set of Shanghai Noon w/ Jackie Chan. He was really hot too. I got so starstruck back then.

Heading to Lou Dawgs for brekky. Mama is STARVING! Have an awesome day & enjoy the sunshine 🙂

#twestivalTO 2011 – tweet. meet. give.

This photo means something really special to me. It reminds me how much I, we have grown and changed over the past couple years.

Erin, Satish & I (below)  were on an aweosme team that came together in Jan. 2009 to create the first big Twitter event Toronto ever had. Twitter was slowly catching on at the time and the event was part of a global thing called Twestival.

Last night, Twestival 2011 took place and it was awesome. It was a totally new team of people who took the initiative to create the event and I was proud and happy to be there.

Twestival OG organizer group hug, my happy moment of the night.

The first Twestival was at CiRCA and we donated to charity:water. Remember that place? My sis was there, she was a Raptors girl back then. She’s the blonde if you don’t already know/can’t tell.

TwestivalTO @ Circa 1

Once we had Twestival on a boat cruise. Renee you were missed last night, I had a shot for you. I need to get to SF to you v.soon.

yesterday on twitter, this happened:

i’d like to thank you for watching my show

Just kidding, I don’t have a show yet!

Yesterday I woke up and rode the subway just after rush hour, it was still packed. I was heading to BNotions Internet & Strategy to be filmed for an upcoming panel I’m on. They told me originally 3-5 hours and I was like ‘WHAT DO WE NEED THAT LONG FOR?’. I’m pretty speedy & no fuss to work with, especially when shooting. We were done in about an hour which included Broll too. WIN!

Panel is called Fashion Connect TO, it’s at the Gladstone April 7th and it’s free. There are 89 people already attending. Get a ticket here!

Last night I stopped by Abode w/ Keri & saw these lovely peeps.

Awwww.

Tonight during the six o’clock news there’s a special on being cool on the internet and prolific amazing tweets,  I’m part of it.  Not sure if it is national, it might be.  Thre’s a spot running today on Global enticing you to watch. Ahhhh. I’m often nervous before things like this because despite how genuine kind/nice/grateful you are you sometimes come off different after editing. I was asked about all the great things I get to do because of my job (blog).

To be honest, I’m thankful every day for what I do, I work really hard at it and Iove sharing it with you. #FINGRSCROSSED! OMGaGA.

i’m hiring bloggers.

See job posting here casiestewart.com/jobs.

If you have ever thought about being my intern, starting a blog or wanna make a few bux, this is a great place to start.

art is a battlefield: art battle eleven, toronto

It is a sight to be seen, a scene worth attending.

Magnificent in nature. Impressive in size and appearance. Majestic, dignified, grandeur.

Painters, painting. In the middle of an open room…

…where people look and stare.

I liked this one.

This was a naked man in a stairwell (painting). Did not win. He asked people walking by “how do you spell descending?” it was charming, so innocent and real he was. I live for realness.

This is Simon. He’s my friend who is good looking smart, tall, and fun. He is single and I would love one of my friends to date him. He did not pay me to say this. He is one of the inventors of Art Battle/awesome.

This is me…

Levis Curve jeans | vintage long wool camel coat | motorola milestone, telus | reading a podcast, Picard | shoes from Aldo, Raymi has same | vintage knit hat | gaga round purse H&M | nella bella change purse | artsy lady beside me with paint on her pants

The artist I liked won his round and got to go to the finals. Against this girl…

Cheers for Gingers. He won, with this painting. I liked it.

I would have bid on it but I bough Courtney’s painting, she is married to Porter. I was hoping I would get to see her because I didn’t see her yet and I missed her round of painting at the start. She is preggers and they are having a baby. I’m happy for them. Being in love is a wonderful thing. I am in love every day. This is her painting…my painting.

At the end this guys painting was DESTROYED> YES DESTROYED. Look close. Laying paint on paint in  front of a crowd to eff his painting right up.

Bring on the paint. Hi Simon & cute girl.

The other inventor of Art Battle is Hinto (Chris). He is laying down the painting to be taken advantage of. It’s gonna get messed up too.

OMG, it’s paint porn.

The end.

yesterday on twitter, this happened:

Canadian Olympian @Maelle_Ricker and me! #video

Wha, you don’t know who Maelle is? Lemme remind you.

Maëlle Ricker is a Canadian snowboarder who is awesome. She won Gold in snowboard cross at the Winter Olympics in Van last year and is the FIRST Canadian woman to win a GOLD at home in the Olympics. Majah win. Way to go sista!

Thanks Maelle for answering my questions 🙂

If you figure out how to harness the power of female customers, you can rock the world.

This article I read on TechCrunch called Why Women Rule the Internet is very interesting. It kinda make it seem that women do all the buying of pretty things however, I firmly believe that women play a huge part in building relationships & spinning the social web.

Some things I found interesting:

  • Facebook, Zynga, Groupon and Twitter …the majority of all four properties’ users are female. Make that “horsewomen”.
  • Women played a key role in the early days (of Facebook) by adopting three core activities—posting to walls, adding photos and joining groups. (Why the guys came!)
  • The average social gamer is likely a 43-year-old woman.
  • Women follow more people, tweet more, and have more followers on average than men.
  • Women are thought to be more social, more interested in relationships and connections, better at multi-tasking.
  • Women are the routers and amplifiers of the social web. And they are the rocket fuel of ecommerce. The ongoing debate about women in tech has been missing a key insight.”

Read the article here. If you wanna chat me about this kinda thinger  contact media AT casiestewart.com. Enjoy the day!
