not feeling so hot

It’;s raining again today and I woke up with a bit of a tickle in my throat. I hate that feeling. I’m quite tired since I returned from a wild weekend in Florida and now it’s catching up wit hme. The rain really puts a damper on things and the mood of everyone around me is somewhat gloomy and grey. I could hear Mum’s voice this morning as I received the following Tweet from one of my followers after saying I felt a soar throat.  This is  just what would come out of Mum’s mouth the second I tell her how I feel. I love you Mum and thanks to Sarah for being on it with the herbal remedies.  The stuff really works but let me tell you, it tasteds like shit.  I’ll pick some up at lunch today and hopefully, the little soldiers will fight off whatever bad guys are making me feel sicky just like in the book.  I also posted a video of driving to Miami, it’s cloudy and kinda gloomy, just like today.

the worlds greatest gift, thanks mum

When my Mum was pregnant with my sister I was 3.5 years old.  I distinctly remember laying on Mum and Dad’s  water bed and being asked ‘what should we call the baby?” I was an interesting kid, as I am an interesting character now and could only think of one name to call her, Jenie. I had a whole slew of dolls at home and each one I had was named Jenny.  I’m not quite sure why or what made me love that name so very much. A sister is a little bit of childhood that can never be lost. ~Marion C. Garretty I love hanging out with her. It’s like we’re little kids again half the time. It’s also almost creepy how alike we are. We talk the same and say the same things at the same time all the time. We make the same hand gestures when we talk and do the same knee-slap-head-throw-back when we laugh really hard. Kills me. Having a sister is something I am so grateful for, I have someone who will always be there for me and pick me up when I’m down or tell me when I need to pick it up.  Jenie is on Twitter too if you want to follow her.  She’s not all internet/twitter obsessed like me, but she is 100% pure gold. Pure gold.

art hives: Saturday in Kensi with Charlietron

We went into “This Ain’t the Rosedale” to check out some books. I got 2 really creative mini ones that fit great in the purse. I love those little ones. Trying on fancy hats is always one of my favorite things to do, along with trying on stuff and taking my picture in it. I went to Bungalow and as I was leaving but then found this totally rad dress that was black with RED LEATHER! I knew it must be tried on, by me. Obviously. I went to the Cameron House and the bathroom stall I went into your DJ Scootz in it from 2007. Rad! Charlie and I read books there and listened to some live music. He tried on my glasses and put his book upside down for the pic by accident. I think it looks intellectual. I dug for some scarves to find jems. Got hooked up these. Those vintage babies were only a buck a piece. God I love that, I make it look a million bux! All & all, I haven’t had a Saturday afternoon in Kensi like that for a couple weeks and it was lovely.

gone beserk!!!!!!!!

I’ve been called crazy more times than I care to count. So, when I wanted something really unique and crazy couture I could only think of Peach Beserk. If you’re the kind of kid who doesn’t like to be seen wearing the same things as someone else or you’re looking for that unique, stylish prom dress, get it there. You can have whatever you like printed, fitted and made just for you. I ordered an Edie Sedgwick print stretch dress for my birthday in May. I had an awesome time just being in the shop and learning. I took part in drawing a design, making the screen and then using the paint to do my very first screen print. I have a feeling this could become my new favorite. Imagine the freedom! My dress had been worn a few times and I carefully put my little design & name on it. PB has heaps of famous ladies wearing their stuff including Jennifer Love-Hewitt, Portia de Rossi, Bif Naked, Caroline Rhea, and Miss Paula Abdul among others. I kinda wished I was back in high school so I could make a crazy print prom dress and show all the kids that I was cooler than them. I remember I wore pants to one once and that was a real shocker back then. Peach Beserk just recently launched an online dress designer. They also ship to anywhere in the world, so don’t be shy if you’re not from Toronto. If you didn’t check it out when I first told you, check it out now! You will love it. I do.

raincoat & wellies and clouds in the sky

Today is cloudy and I’ve got lots to do. I took these yesterday, they’re for you. I’ve got some things to post later too. Drinking a coffee and feeling neat, I wonder what catering will bring today to eat? Thank you Daily Challenge for giving me this camera. If you don’t know, I won it in their Holiday Do Gooder contest. I love it. It make me very happy to share all kinds of random snipits of my life with the world. Like this little guy:

what is your blog about anyways?

People always ask me “what’s your blog about?” or”well, whats your topic?“. As this happens I say to myself in my own little head “I dunno, whatever I feel like, whatever I like, whatever is me-ist“. I learned something cool from Chrissy at a company called Espresso. It is called Wordle. I made this Wordle of my blog’s first page to get an idea of what my blog might be really about. This is the realest and truest thing. This shows you what matters most to me. I started writing my blog because I love writing, I love life and I love to remember the things I do that keep me being awesome. This is what my blog is about.

what make? who says?

I’m watching a Beautiful Mind on Diva. Every time I watch this movie I feel a special connection to it. I have many times throughout my life felt like an outsider because of the way I thought about things. It has always been different than anyone else since I was a wee little lady. Mum said I used to pick out all my own outfits and match them my own way, I used to make art that was beyond my years too. I remember Mum getting into a fight with my grade 8 art teacher because she hid my work in her office and when Mum went to buy it in the art sale, it wasn’t there. This is all interesting but my question is, what really defines a genius? A test? A way of thinking? Being really good at something? A genius is a person who successfully applies a previously unknown technique in the production of a work of art, science or calculation, or who masters and personalizes a known technique. A genius typically possesses great intelligence or remarkable abilities in a specific subject, or shows an exceptional natural capacity of intellect and/or ability, especially in the production of creative and original work, something that has never been seen or evaluated previously. Traits often associated with genius include strong individuality, imagination, uniqueness, and innovative drive. [Source: Wikipedia.]

the most patient man on earth

Now this is truly amazing. There is something savant about this man; he is the most patient little spider around! Nothing is too small to be art, nothing is too small to be noticed. With this in mind, think about about all your actions, large or small are things and how much of an impact you have on the world. No action goes unnoticed within the universe! This man said teachers used to make him feel small and thus he began creating very mini sculptures. He has an exhibit in Liverpool,UK where you can only see all the beautiful sculptures through a microscope! Very cool 🙂 Needle Sized Art Very incredible story! Not only is this mans art cool but he got a ton of cash for it!

beautiful losers – make something from nothing

As kids you write, create, draw, you make things. I was constantly making things with Mum and my sister at the kitchen table or in the garage with Dad. I painted, sculpted, drew, cut, copy, paste, glue, paper mache, you name it, I was doing it. This film is a collection of stories from artists who all felt at times that they didn’t fit in and now have shifted their ideology from being nerds, or weirdo’s to cool nerds and creative people. I’m waiting on response to see about showings in Canada. This movie ‘celebrates the spirit behind one of the most influential cultural moments of a generation.‘ Beautiful Losers film trailer from beautifullosersfilm on Vimeo. “In the early 1990’s a loose-knit group of like minded outsiders found common ground at a little NYC storefront gallery. Rooted in the DIY (do-it-yourself) subcultures of skateboarding, surf, punk, hip hop & graffiti, they made art that reflected the lifestyles they led. Developing their craft with almost no influence from the “establishment” art world, this group, and the subcultures they sprang from, have now become a movement that has been transforming pop culture.” “Starring a selection of artists who are considered leaders within this culture, Beautiful Losers focuses on the telling of personal stories. It speaks to themes of what happens when the outside becomes “in” as it explores the creative ethos connecting these artists and today’s youth.”

Don’t drink so much! Tips on Saving Water & the Environment

I got this email today from Take Part – Social Action Network and I wanna share some of the tasty shit with you. 6 Things You Can Do to Save Water Just a little effort can make a big difference in conserving water. While fresh, clean drinking water is ours to use whenever we need it, none of us can afford to waste it. It’s too valuable. Here’s what you can do:1. Water your lawn only when it needs it. A good way to see if your lawn needs watering is to step on the grass. If it springs back up, it doesn’t need water. If it stays flat, fetch the sprinkler.2. Water during the cool parts of the day. Early morning generally is better than dusk because it helps prevent growth of fungus.3. Plant drought-resistant trees and plants. 4. Use a broom, not a hose, to clean driveways and sidewalks.5. Wash your car at a commercial car wash. They recycle the water.6. Collect condensate water from air conditioners and use it to water your plants.
