So it started. Four girls, one car, one weeknd. Go. We arrived safe and sound. You saw the Cribs O’Nizzle did of where we were staying eh. Went out the first night Sailor Hats were a hit. There were lineups at all the clubs so next time, go early. Saturday rolled around and before we knew it, the party started. It was so hot out. I went to Uni in Australia with these punks – Prince left, Rye right. So nice to see them. My Zeugari suit was a hit. OMG Prince! We spent time cruising around the grounds. Heaps of pople enjoying the tunage. Back stage Allison helped us out with whatedcer we needed. Including driving us in the production vehicle. We were up front and back stage like traditional media. I loved seeing the fans screaming from front stage. Back stage was a the place to be in order to avoid beer lines for sure. Part 2 coming up including Flava Flav & night time party…

mashable social media day :: toronto

I like social and media. And I like talking. Pix frm the event are here via Kevin Chung. Here’s my talk, I hope you enjoy it. Casie Stewart (@casiestewart) at #SMdayTO from Ron Wolf I like talking about how many awesome people I have met through twitter. How I got a job because I really loved the internet, being social and sharing creativity all over the place. I like landscape photos better than portrait. I like when the sun shines through the clouds and you can see it coming right at you. I like writing the stories as they happen and living out all kinda of adventures. I like being positive, it’s really the best medicine you can give yourself. I’ve always liked to write. In 1996 my friend Holly and I, with the help of our Mum’s publihed and anthology of poetry & prose called JEANS. It was all kinds of things we had written in Grade. 8. I wanna publish a new book. I have hundreds written verse and such just dying to have your eyes. Words all wanting attention. I’ve decided to hire and intern, I need some help with the casiestewart.com stuff. Looking for someone unique, someone kinda like me to be honest; loves internet, learning, sharing, twitter, hard work, fun. There’s always skill involved but the things that really matter most are not learned in class. What I think (1996) I’d like to do more public speaking. I like it and I’m just getting started. I won in a speech competition about a hundred years ago when I was younger. This one time, in drama class, I read my whole speech with my back facing the audience, it was the speech you tell youself before you go on stage. The two minute “you can do…

so, you wanna get a job in social media? (or any job)

This has come up in conversations a couple times over the last few weeks. There are lots of jobs out there and with the openness of the internet, you can find them and they can find you. You know I’m really big on attitude and positivity. As a former recruiter, I give you a couple things to think about. Now, to me, this stuff seems common sense but I’ve seen otherwise. You have to think like an employer. If they complete a background check or Google you what are they going to learn? What will they find on your blog, twitter, FB and what type of feeling are they gonna get from you? How are they going to perceive your attitude as a potential employee? Here’s a couple things NOT to do: tweet/blog about how hard of a time you are having finding a job tweet how hard up you are for money Complain on your blog about how life is hard/how busy you are doing nothing Whine about not hearing back from an interview Complain about not having a job BE NEGATIVE (downer) Here’s a couple things TO do: Follow positive people who have jobs you’d like to have; learn from them, you could potentially learn alot, such as gaining help with cover letters targetted for your specific job role you’d like, and more. Blog about things related to jobs you’d like to have Blog/tweet about things you’ve done that would be assets to a company Think about how good it will feel to have a new job Read articles and comment about them follow hashtags about jobs/hiring/your field attend tweetups & meetups in your area BE POSITIVE There ARE dream jobs out there I promise! I got myself into the job I wanted and I have other friends…

flock of eagles

It really does not matter what you have, what you had, want, or what you own. You are whoever you want to be. How you perceive yourself has the biggest impact on how others perceive you, this is my belief and something I live. It was my dear mum that ingrained in me, “just because you don’t have money, doesn’t mean you can’t compete, you just have to be more creative”. Luckily for myself, I’ve always been rich in that department. The book in this post is one that I really, truly love and admire. It is written by Paul Arden one of the world’s top advertising guys who comes from a great career with Saatchi & Saatchi. This is not merely a ‘book‘, this is a bible for the creative, those driven to succeed who couldn’t even ever imagine what it’s like to ‘think inside the box‘. It has taught me tools to succeed in the world, to dream the unimaginable, to break the rules, and make my own path, leaving trails for others to follow. This book is about stretching the mind and thinking about where you want to be in the world. Do you want to be well known? The best in your field? Your country? Best in the world? Or best in the universe? You decide. I know where I want to be. Posted on September 26, 2008 Can’t Fly with the Eagles if You’re with the Seaguls – Mum

naked people have little or no influence on society

Feeling the spring fever. It’s lovely walking to work in the brightness. Great way to start the day. Ramping up stuff for the magazine at work. Toronto Blog Girl stuff is picking up speed. My Harajuku Girls are coming by Friday learn about blogging. What they don’t know yet is that I’m putting them to WORK. Fairy Blog Mother. Today I am wearing a dress from Shop My Clothes that’s by a Japanese designer. I love the print heaps, very springy. It was really long so I chopped it and used the excess fabric to make a circle scarf. Black Betsy Johnson tights from Winners. Gold boots were black leather from Vintage 69. I spray painted them gold. Andy Warhol used to do that. Trench, cardigan, & heart locket are from H&M. Bag was a gift  Calvin Klein. THANKS! I’m a judge in this FAB contest from Peach Beserk. It’s only open to elementary, high school and college/university students but the prizes are AWESOME. So if you can enter, DO IT. Clothes make the man.
